The Capital Pearl was very clean with exceptional staff that attend to your every need. The property is within walking distance to multiple restaurants and shopping area, including local vendors that sell handmade merchandise. The beach is easily accessible via the \"walkway\" that goes on for miles. Excellent experience!!

Hard to navigate as the hotel is in a shopping mall and no directions to park or check in. Needed to drive to 4th floor of the car park. Everything is key card entry so if there is an electricity outage it would be a challenge. We were given a mediocre room despite paying a year in advance - city view which meant overlooking loud outdoor restuarant with blaring music till late. We booked dinner which was okay but we could not get them to give our underspend as a tip to the waiters (they were able to charge any overspend). Pity as the service was good. Room nicely appointed. Bathroom very tight - only a shower and small. Newly refurbished and the pool was delightful.

We stayed at the Pearls for one night but it was great. We needed to do some washing and were able to wash and dry before leaving. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We went to the beach in the morning for a run along the promenade - only challenge was getting there as the Pearls didn't seem to have direct beach front access but we navigated the mall and made our way down. The Pearls are right by the Oceans mall, Umhlanga rocks and many superb restaurants and supermarkets. It's a great stay in the heart of Umhlanga and you can walk to the Whale Bone pier too.

Stay at the Pearls

The superior apartment that I was booked into on the 19th floor was really good. The view from the bedroom balcony and the living room balcony was exceptional and was what I was looking for. My sleepless night was unfortunately due to my neighbor, running his TV at loud levels until 11 PM. The living area and TV is situated right behind the partitioning of the bedroom. That is the problem with those rooms. The walls are not constructed of bricks and sound travels terribly the rest of the apartment was perfect. I was then moved to an apartment on the 20th floor, but this was no longer the same category. The bedroom had no windows. There was no window to open up for fresh air. This could not have been a superior apartment, but I was able to get a good night sleep as I had no neighbors.
I ate at the restaurant and the food was good. Room service was responded to very quickly and very properly. helpfulness of the staff was very good

Nice hotel with lovely sea views. Shocking customer service. They will never see me again. They ruined my night.

It took them about an hour to correct their mistake. We ordered 1 bottle of white wine and 1 red wine. Only red wine was delivered to the room.

After 3 phone calls with the receptionist, I decided to go to the reception and talk to them because my card was charged for that bottle.

I was told they were going to bring it upstairs to our room. After waiting for about an hour since I made the first call about the missing bottle, they sent another red wine instead of the white one. I was ready to accept it even though it was not what I wanted but the lady who delivered the wine promised to fix the issue and she came back after a few minutes with the correct bottle of wine.

I didn't get her name, I was just annoyed. She was good and I think none of that was her fault.

Front desk manager was rude and unhelpful. Having confirmed a one bed superior apartment via an email we were degraded on arrival. The front desk manager was not interested in apologising and actually encouraged me to complain, his attitude was unacceptable. I did speak to another front desk manager who stated he would get the GM to email but no correspondence received. Customer service not up to international standards

We only had a one night stay after a cruise, but it was more than expected. Would be a good hotel fro business or leisure. Excellent location. Although we didn't use any services,, the service we got from reception was excellent and friendly.

Amazing from the first moment. Super friendly and attentive staff, I splurged on the sea view room and it was just gorgeous, the breakfast was all-encompassing and room service punctual. Most comfortable bed and bedding I’ve experienced in years. Shower pressure could be stronger. The mall in the building made shopping super convenient. Exceeded my expectations in almost every area.

45 minutes to check in. 10 minutes to get the elevator. Check out dates were mixed up, despite clarifying 3 times upon check in & reassured all was fine, I was locked out of my room. The best thing about this property is location. The staff are not great. Several other properties on the promenade that I will try for my next stay, not this one again.

Perhaps we were allocated a bad spot in the hotel with a problematic room.

Finishes are good and maintained to a decent standard.

WiFi works well.

Room is sufficiently clean but there are subtleties that needed attention.

Our room barely had a sea view between two buildings, and was close to the refuse area causing a smell when the patio door was open. We had construction above us and across the road causing noise early in the morning. Our aircon made a high frequency sound which was quite irritating. Money could be saved by staying elsewhere on the Umhlanga promenade with better views and similar room amenities

We Were given a much smaller and inferior room so unfortunately I was very unhappy. We were told that the hotel was full so nothing could be done about it. We were booked for 3 days however the manager contacted us the day before we left and upgraded our room. So all in all, my last day was great. Sea facing, one bedroom with balcony and lounge is amazing.

First room I was in- DSTV was not working. Then moved to another room and sliding door was not working.

I had to call more than 3 times for housekeeping to come clean the room this is after one of the cleaning ladies came to the room and promised to come back.

I ordered a chicken burger and the chicken was half cooked. .

That busines is soon going to collapse if you don’t don’t improve and do something about your staff. Balcony was dirty, room cleaning staff don’t move furniture around when cleaning.

This is not my first time staying there and within a year your building is detoriating. .

Pity the views are so great.

Not exactly value for money in my opinion

We did not find this option to be value for money. The felt that the rate was quite high for a normal out of season night, but chose it anyway due to the location. I think in future we will rather consider other options. Also, the day before our arrival I got a mail to demand outstanding payment within 4 hours or else our booking will be cancelled. I have never had this type of issue with hotels.com bookings. I thought it was rather odd to receive such a mail and actually did not appreciate the email nor the tone thereof.

State-of-the-art in Umhlanga!

Our stay at The Capital Pearls hotel was above all our expectations. An incredibly state of the art hotel with every aspect of a guests stay thought of to the last detail. A very very big plus is the fast and stable internet and nice shower with proper water output as well as a very good air conditioner. The views over the ocean are amazing, so definitely suggest a balcony with sea or partial sea view! The area of Umlanga was amazing with the beach literally outside the hotel with plenty of restaurants.

The accommodation at the Capital Pearls is excellent. The breakfasts are good. However, the lifts needed to be sorted out as when one is not working there are unnecessary delays. The doorways to the stairs must also be unlocked as when a lift is not in use one cannot access the staircase to go down stairs.

Overall we had a wonderful relaxing stay save for the slow check in and check out. At check out we were not given a card to exit the building and had to drive up and come back to reception. We were also not attended to by the restaurant for lunch even though it was quiet and ended up going to another restaurant in the mall. The room is well equipped with everything you need for a family stay. We will definitely visit again.
