COCO-MAT Hotel Athens is a 4-star, design hotel that sits in the heart of Kolonaki and offers high quality accommodation, relaxing sleep, delicious homemade breakfast and selected services. The original 1935 building underwent a dramatic renewal that transformed it into a modern hideaway for Athens' urban explorers, business travelers, holiday weekenders and city break enthusiasts.

Our hotel comprises 39 rooms and suites. All rooms are elegantly decorated, equipped with every modern amenity and Coco-Mat's best sleep systems.

Staff is fantastic. Above and beyond.

The most comfortable bedding I’ve ever experienced in 50 years of travel. Finally a hotel that has firm useful pillows rather than just plastic bags filled with air.

The location is ideal. Great food around every corner. A quiet safe neighborhood even though there’s robust night life.

Honestly excellent. We will stay here again.

The only slight improvement I would make is an update to the room’s LG Smart Television’s — the streaming connection is an outdated version that doesn’t really work anymore. Perhaps invest in smart TV’s that have the most common Chromecast and/or ApplePlay systems which are much more simple and require less intervention.

My favorite place

This is one of my favorite hotels in Athens. I love coming there time after time and enjoy festival the hospitality of the staff at the hotel. They are super nice and friendly. And of course, the surrounding area of Kolonaki. Needless to say that I will come back again. ♥️

It is a modern looking hotel. The staff were great. The room was limited in that there wasn’t any drawers or shelving to unpack so we lived out of our suitcases. The main entrance was a store so it threw us off a bit. It was centrally located but lots of street noise. On the Friday night music was loudly playing till 7 am so sleep was a challenge even with ear plugs and white noise. I had requested a room with a deck which was barely 2 feet wide so it wasn’t a comfortable setting outside. The breakfast provided quality offerings including fresh squeezed orange juice, espresso and honeycomb which we thoroughly enjoyed

The hotel was really cool. It was a furniture store on the ground floor and hotel upstairs. The staff was amazing and rooms were great. Breakfast was really good too. The area around the hotel was bustling with great shops and restaurants. Wish we stayed closer to the city center but would stay again.

The area is a little busy with a couple of bars, so there is some low level music noise on the lowest floor at weekends, but the staff moved me to a higher floor and then it was very quiet. The hotel was overall very nice, but though I knew we'd booked an interior room, the lighting was terribly dark. For a room with essentially no windows, I would have expected a room brightened at least with lighting. That said, it was clean, comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We traveled with our daughter and this was a perfect room for us! European hotels are hard because they run on the smaller side and this was so spacious! We had a suite with a balcony and the light in the room was great. The location was phenomenal we walked everywhere and staff was very friendly!!! Definitely recommend this hotel; especially for families!

The staff really stand out at COCO-MAT as professional, helpful, and attentive. The hotel is well situated, clean, and comfortable. Entering from the street is a little confusing, as you enter through a shop for bed mattresses and bedding. Breakfast is delicious, and the rooftop terrace, with its view of the Parthenon, is lovely for drinks in the evening.

It was an excellent experience! I have never seen more polite stuff in my life. They went above and beyond to accommodate any need. The location was the best you can have in Athens. The room (urban suite) was just perfect and the bed the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The food was also very good even though some more options would have been desirable. A really nice quiet, stylish hotel in a great part of Athens, was quiet during our stay as it was Greek Easter but that suited us. Lots of nice dining options nearby, 10 min walk to Syntagma Square for reference. Highly recommend this hotel. Oh and the breakfast was superb!

Wonderful staff, cool concept, and the hotel focused on a comfortable bed, dark room, and great breakfast. That’s all you really need. It does lack a gym and on site parking. We did not need either for our short stay, so that worked out well for us

Favourite Athens hideaway

This is my preferred hotel in Athens now, having stayed in many across the city over the past 6 years. The location is great. There is easy access to the M3 metro, which goes directly to the airport and Piraeus, plus Kolonaki is ideal for bars, cafes and restaurants. Staff are friendly and super helpful, and of course the natural beds are divine. I always sleep well!

The food service was excellent. The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. I would recommend having some sort of shower enclosure in the bathrooms. Also, the odor from the bathroom is unpleasant I commend your commitment to earth conservation.

Five star stay at Coco-Mat

We had a great stay at Coco-Mat. This is a little cute boutique hotel close and convenient to many attractions in Athens. There are nice restaurants and shops in walking distance to the hotel without the tourists crowd. The room was clean, comfortable and offered everything we needed for our 3 nights stay. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with lots of tasty options. All the staff from reception, housekeeping and the restaurant were so polite, kind and professional and welcomed us with their beautiful Greek hospitality. We will recommend this hotel to our friends/family and we will definitely come back next time we are visiting Athens!

I stayed at the Coco MAT for only one evening and while there the hotel staff made it as comfortable as possible. The room was very well decorated. The concierge went above and beyond to help get to nearby sites before our departure. Conveniently located and great experience. I would definitely recommend.

There are 3 coco at hotels in Athens. The pictures on Google are misleading- the coconut Athens does not have a swimming pool. Also all our rooms where facing a back patio so we had to keep the curtains closed otherwise no privacy… fancy and good breakfast but served on the lower level - why not at the beautiful roof top????

My only comment is related to the checkout - I booked 3 rooms for 4 nights, and when requesting to keep (only) one of the rooms for a late checkout in the afternoon, the only option I was offered was to keep a room for half price.

Perfect city centre oasis of calm.

I love the COCO-MAT chain of hotels, and have now made it my mission to stay in all of them! This one is in a great location in Kolonaki, surrounded by bars and restaurants with fantastic friendly staff, and a great city view from the roof terrace. The breakfasts are great, and the hotel is small and relaxed.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, however, there were just a few things that let it down. The reception and breakfast staff were very pleasant. The breakfast is amazing, the range of choice and inclusion of traditional Greek food is brilliant. I had breakfast on the terrace one morning and that was lovely, although I found the hassle of carrying the tray put me off doing it again. The welcome bag of drinks was very much appreciated, but I didn’t understand where the honesty bar/room was to top up the fridge. The room is nice but could definitely be better. The tv and speaker in my room wasn’t working, and I did ask at reception if they could help me but no one came up to my room. There was a bit of a funky smell coming from the shower drain, but I just got on with it as my stay was short anyway. When I first used the shower, the shower door made an awful screechy sound, so beware! It’s fine once it’s been exposed to water from the shower. The bed was quite firm, and I would have liked a duvet rather than a sheet and light throw. The toiletries were lovely and covered everything you would need e.g toothbrush, razor, shower gel etc. The rooftop menu is very limited and overpriced for what they’re offering, but the view is nice. I found it disappointing to find no one at the bar on the rooftop in the evenings, perhaps they weren’t offering that during my stay. The terrace is also small. I would of liked a book in the room with key information as I had to ask reception for help.

The hotel and staff were great. Room was overall nice and no serious complaints. Our only complaint would be the location. Not for safety reasons, but wish we were a little closer to Plaka where we ended up spending a lot of time. We ended up walking easily over 10 mile days in athens to avoid over priced taxi fare.
