The staff are very helpful, and the lobby is comfortable. It is good to have an around the clock hot drinks self-service bar. The room was clean, and the shower is nice and strong. Yet, some rooms on the lower floors are dark: they look into the interior of the building, where light is limited. Standard rooms are also small, and strangely designed: no side tables by the bed, instead a shelf slightly above the floor level that cannot be used while one lies in bed: you would have to drop down your glasses, phone, or book.

Great hotel close to the core of Athens in a good neighborhood. Staff was great! They arranged pickup for us at the cruise port and transport to the airport when we left. As well they booked tours for us with a great tour company. Always there to help and with a greeting every time we entered or existed. A special bonus is that they put out all day snacks and drinks at no charge! This was a nice treat after a long day of checking out Athens or a coffee, tea and snack in the evening. Only thing to be aware of is a lack of multiple outlets/ports for charging all of our multiple technology devices. Bring an adapter that can handle a few devices at a time. Room came with slippers, robes, hair dryer, safe and lots of closet space and drawers for the longer stays. Easy walk to great restaurants, transit, hop on, hop off buses and attractions. Great place if you are traveling to this amazing city.

Amazing stay in Athens

Fantastic accommodations just at the base of the Lycabettus Hill. Hotel has a unique feature with F and B in that like but scrumptious snacks are included with your stay as well as non alcoholic beverages.
Certainly a boutique hotel I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again

Periscope hotel is in a great location and the staff is incredible. Gigi, a member of their office team went out of her way to accommodate us. We arrived late and she took care of ordering our dinner, getting us wine, and making sure our room was comfortable. I would stay at the Periscope Hotel again.

This property is outstanding. The location of the Periscope in the Kolonaki section of Athens provided access to restaurants, shopping, and museums. Great hotel in a wonderful neighborhood of Athens. Only issue is that the doors close / slam fairly loud. I was awoken by housekeeping closing doors at 7 AM a few days in a row (despite asking them to close the doors more gently more than once). But overall - an excellent experience.

Fantastic find in Athen's swank neighborhood

Wonderful, professional service! Safe location, extremely accommodating. Multi-culturally welcoming for Americans, non-Greek Europeans. Not gay, but very gay friendly typical of cool places in hip areas of cities with international draw.

Staff allowed us to check in very early (10am rather than 2pm), no additional fee. Complimentary breakfast was outstanding. After we checked out, staff safely, securely held our luggage before calling a cab (which arrived in minutes) to take us to the airport.

Could not recommend the Periscope Hotel enough, and we will for certain be staying here or at another Yes! hotel in the future. A hearty, sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff for being so professional and hospitable!

Perfect \"American\" quality room

Periscope hotel was a great experience. The staff was very professional and quick to respond. The room was excellent and left nothing lacking. Things to consider:
There is no iron in the room but available from the front desk.
There are no outlets in the bathroom
The bathroom is beautiful but has zero counter space.
Location is not optimal but only a $5-$6 uber to the center of the main shopping area.

Stylish and comfortable hotel in a great area

The Hotel Periscope is a small, stylish boutique hotel with the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever had. The staff are helpful and kind--we arrived early in the morning after an overnight ferry ride, expecting to check our bags and come back in the afternoon, but the front desk staff gave us an early check-in. The breakfast is very good, with eggs cooked to order. The neighborhood is full of shops, restaurants and cafes, and not packed with tourists, but close to the metro and a short walk to several museums and Syntagma Square. We noticed that some of the rooms are being remodeled and are looking forward to seeing the new look when we return.

Great spot in Kolonaki

The Periscope was a very cool design hotel. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay there from the location to the very helpful and friendly staff. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy a different part of the Athenian experience. Located in the chic Kolonaki area, the Periscope is conveniently located near elegant shops, cool bars and bustling coffee shops.

We only stayed one night before flying back to the states. But the gentleman at the front desk spoke excellent English and he was very friendly. There was a strike by metro workers scheduled for the following day, so he took the time to look up the bus routes to the airport, find the best one for us, and print out a schedule for us.

Nice hotel, great location, bathroom design :(

The room was nice. However, the bathroom needed improvement. All of the towel racks where coming off of the fall. The bathroom door did not close and clock. The biggest issue I had was the glass bathroom walls. While these were a nice design feature they were terrible for privacy. If you are staying with another person it is absolutely an issue.

Comfortable hotel in a great neighborhood

I really like the Periscope Hotel. This is my second stay. I travel to Athens at least once a year and have always stayed in Plaka/Syntagma before. The Periscope is a nice change because the neighborhood of Kolonaki is not so touristy but is close to everything, safe, and full of good restaurants and cafes. The beds are amazingly comfortable--a real plus when you are traveling--and the breakfast is special, including made-to-order eggs and good coffee. The staff are, to a person, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, though I wish they had a comfy chair in addition to the desk chair. Rooms on the street side get the noise, so you may want earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel in Kolonaki

It was a wonderful hotel. We truly loved the hotel and Athens. My one negative is internet is not fast; however, I have come to realize that this is consistent with most of Greece.

Costas the night guy is great fun to hang out with because internet is better in the lobby. He checked us in at 4am and checked us out at 5:30am. Great night guy with a wonderful personality. He even prepared a nice breakfast for us when we left before the formal breakfast began. Might I say that the breakfast is amazing.

Nice modern hotel in a nice neighborhood.

I'm not sure why hotels.com rates this as a 2 star hotel. It's definitely a 3.5-4 star hotel.

We stayed here for a day in July. We were lucky enough to have been able to check in early at 8am. This is a very nice and modern hotel. The standard room was clean and seemed very \"efficient\". There didn't seem to be any wasted space. It was nice modern room. The bed is a Themperpedic so you should get a good nights sleep. There is a bathrobe and outdoor slippers to use. (I took them home.) The hotel advertises sound proofing but the gap underneath the door allows sounds from the hallways to come in. Not good for light sleepers.

The breakfast was very nice. They have a menu to have select items like eggs, omelets and eggs Benedict. There's also an assortment of cheese, cold cuts, breads, cereals, ect. They can make nice lattes and espressos.

I think this hotel caters more for business or couples but I did see a family. No issues leaving your bags in a lock storage room.

I thought we would be able to go to the roof to check out the view but the restaurant which was up there, was turned into a penthouse suite.

The neighborhood is nice. Even though we were there during the default crisis, you never feel it here. There's a Starbucks, other restaurants and stores within a few blocks. The metro is about a 7 min walk down the hill (you can take this line to the airport). The walk to the original Olympic stadium and to the Acropolis is only about a 20 minutes walk.

Great Hotel!!!

This hotel exceeded all our expectations!
It was recommended to us by Athenians but I didn't expect how good it was!
It was extremely clean and the standard of the rooms was very high. The decor was hip and cool and very modern and he bed and the pillows were divine!

The service was equally as good and the staff were so nice and helpful!

The location was excellent. Only 20 minutes away from the Parliament and Acropolis and was also very close to the metro.

We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Athens!

Central comfort

The Periscope is located in a slightly nicer area of Athens with good restaurants within a block of the hotel. It's about a 10min walk to the Archeological Museum, a 20min walk from the charming Plaka neighborhood. It's also very close to the Ayios Yeoryios (accessible via hilltop tram) – the highest point in the city with spectacular panoramic views.

High end boutique hotel

When we first arrived, the hotel reception told us that they had taken the liberty of upgrading us in a better room than what we had originally booked for. The Breakfast is very good and the staff made me a cheese omelet as I had ordered it (bkfast is included). The room was extremely clean and quiet. As this hotel is in a high end neighbourhood, there is a great deal of high end shopping available. The hotel is also located at the Likavitos mountain. We went to the top of the mountain where there is a church, and also enjoyed a panoramic view of Athens. The neighbourhood offers many cafes and restaurants with excellent western food as well as greek home made cuisine. Check the antique shops in this neighbourhood. Many Art Deco and Art Nouveau antiques.

Hotel in Sae Neighbourhood

The hotel is very clean and was recently renovated. It is in a safe neighbourhood away from the graffiti filled neighbourhoods of Athens. It is at proximity to Sindagma Square, and is located at the foot of Likavitos. A ride on the Teleferik took us to the top of the mountain and we had the best panoramic 360 degree view of Athens. The small restaurants in the neighbourhood as well as the cafes are a delight. I strongly recommend the hotel.

Nice hotel in high end and safe neighbourhood

The hotel is located in a high end and safe neighbourhood. We stayed in the hotel in three separate nights in between trips to other places. We considered the hotel as our anchor point. Whenever we needed to be picked up from the orts, or make plans for transportation, even during the days that we were not guests at the hotel, we could count on the staff to make the arrangements for us. We were upgraded twice into better rooms based on availability. Breakfast is included and the choices are excellent.
In summary, the staff of the hotel made us feel that the hotel was our home away from home. I highly recommend it.
The hotel is at the foot of the Likavitos mountain, We took the Teleferic to the top for a breathtaking view of Athens and had dinner in one of the restaurants there.

Sleek, modern, perfect location

My family and I stayed in a room with a balcony (4th floor and higher, I believe). We did 1 room for 3 people, which was fine. Would have felt cramped if we had spent all day there, but with site seeing and our perfect balcony, it was enough room.

The hotel is located perfectly in Kolonaki-- a very chic and lively neighborhood and not at all touristy like Plaka. The staff was lovely and accommodating, and the rooms are beautiful and kept in pristine condition and cleanliness.

The only issue was that some of the \"design\" elements of the hotel were not quite user-friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here!!

Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the city.

Stayed there for a weekend in Athens. Staff is very well trained, checked me in in less than 2 minutes which was excellent after long day of commuting. Room was very comfortable making the most of its small city space. A crack in the sink is probably something that maintenance will take care of soon. I'm definitely going to choose it again for my Athenian weekends.

it's about 20 minutes walk from the centre of town (Syntagma Square) in a very chic neighbourhood (kolonaki). very good restaurants and bars nearby, but quite some distance to the nearest metro (10-15 min walk). rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable. there's only one person manning the reception at all times so they may be tied up when you need something urgently.

central but quiet, ultra-modern designer hotel

I was really surprised to find this gem among all the Athens hotels on Expedia as I didn't know about it at all and I come from Athens originally. I was looking to stay close to Syntagma Square and that's how I found it. It is really close too (10-15min walk). I was impressed by the photos on Expedia as they didn't look anything like a 2 star hotel (more like 4-star actually!) and by the fact they have Tempur mattresses (like I have at home!) and when I got there it still felt like a 4-star hotel even though it's hidden in a residential area on a quiet little street. Black marble everywhere, fully air-conditioned (so welcome as we had 38 degrees that week!), and there was this lovely fresh peppery smell everywhere. Fantastic minimalistic design and colours (dark / light grey), en-suite shower with bathrobes, flip-flops and toiletries, a hair-dryer and a safe. The only thing missing really which is probably why it's classed as a 2- rather than a 3-star hotel is a kettle. Opposite the hotel is an unfinished block of flats which made us worry a bit about building work and noise but we didn't hear a sound from there throughout the 8 days we stayed. On our 1st morning however there was a lot of drilling on the street as the Telecom was putting some cables in. My partner flipped and was quite abusive to the reception staff about the noise, but they handled it perfectly. They moved us to a room at the back of the hotel which was really quiet and there was no more drilling after all!

We used to stay here when it was the Athenian Inn. The location is perfect for us. Hotel has a lot of fun details associated with a periscope and submarines. The breakfast was terrific. My Eggs Benedict was great.

Great deal, excellent location

Location is great, walking access to all of the major sites, just a few blocks below the trail network on Lykavittos Hill, 6 minutes walking from Evangelismos metro station, maybe 15 minutes from Syntagma square, 30-35 minutes from the Acropolis. Rooms are somewhat \"scandinavian\" in design and very modern, I really liked them. Breakfast is great but quite expensive if you don't get a deal to include it with your room. Because the street is quiet there is no business in the restaurant at night, I suggest walking to any of the many places within a few blocks. Periscope has a deal (free of charge!) with the Holmes Place gym, we used it often. It is an absolutely excellent and very modern facility, much better than my gym at home. The front desk staff was very helpful and polite, they even lent us an adaptor for our computer power cord.

Great design hotel. Good and safe location. Within walking distance of major attractions, alternatively the metro is very easy to use and 14 euros for a week pass!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was as expected from reading other reviews before booking, so no complaints. In fact, exceeded expectations. Eggs benedict was a favourite.

Rooms were comfy and clean. Large enough for myself so happy with that.

Great Hotel in Best Part of Athens!

The Periscope Hotel was a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast was superb, as was the staff in the restaurant! My only wish is that the menus for lunch and dinner would be improved as I would have loved to dine there for these meals as well. However, given the limited menu, the restaurant is unfortunately empty except at breakfast. Cleaning staff did a fantastic job. One other minor thing to note, the electronics in the room need updating or at least to have all the remotes in working order with fresh batteries. Overall, fantastic experience and I would return in a second if ever back in Athens!

Disappointing and lack of ambiance

Friendly staff the only positive and closeness to Benaki Museum and Lykavitos. Kolonaki itself is not the most hospitable or enticing area in athens. V disappointed with the lack of ambience, the humble Greek service and the lack of a genuine Greek experience. Would not recommend this to anyone, especially for any first time visit to Greece. Unless you like pretension and a lack of engagement and interaction with real people, this is not the place to stay or even visit. One other highlight is Dexamini for a bite to eat, Kolonaki Kalamaki and Oikia. The rest you can find in any vanilla Western European city.

Our go to spot, third time staying here. Very convenient location to shops and city center. Very well designed rooms. Our only question was why did they stop the breakfast?
