It is outside of the main city, about 5 mins which turns out to be really nice since you do not hear the city noise but it is close enough to still do things. Would suggest renting a car if you stay unless you plan on being at the resort the whole time.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort and would highly recommend it. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
The location is absolutely beautiful, with a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere throughout the resort. Each villa has its own private pool and is thoughtfully spaced apart, creating a sense of privacy and tranquillity that made it easy to completely unwind.
The restaurant served excellent food, with high-quality dishes and plenty of choice. The resort also provided a driver who was always available to help us travel wherever we wanted to go, which made exploring the area effortless.
One of the highlights of our stay was the spa, which was truly blissful and the perfect place to relax and recharge.
Overall, this resort exceeded our expectations in every way. Between the outstanding service, stunning setting, delicious food, and luxurious facilities, it was an unforgettable experience. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

The front office staff ( Harpreet & Michael) were very curtious, prompt and customer focused. The Restaurant staff (Sandesh & Sandeep) were very friendly and welcoming.
Some suggestions for improvement at the property.
Outside Window shutters rattled all night long and need to be better secured
Ensure there is hot water in the shower at all times which was lacking.
No complimentary shuttle to the port for pickup nor drop off .
Door to the bathroom/shower did not lock in the master bedroom

What a fantastic start to our island-hopping holiday. We spent two nights relaxing here after our flight and it ticked every box. The resort is beautiful and immaculately clean. We stayed in a Signature Villa which was well designed and spacious with a private pool which was just perfect. The staff were more than helpful and immediately attentive to our every need. Big shout out to Sandesh who looked after us so well in the bar and restaurant. He had just the right balance between friendly and professional, as had his wife and brother who are also on the exceptional team of staff. The food and breakfast and dinner was very good, as were the cocktails.
All in all a ten out of ten stay that we would not hesitate to recommend.

About 15 minutes from the airport we arrive at Desiterra resort, located on the east side of the island, a tranquil beautiful spot directly overlooking the sea. Stunning views of other islands of Anafi and Amorgos. The dawn sunrise is simply breathtaking my advice is get up witness it even if you have to go back to bed. The resort is a 5 minute walk along the beach to a lovely little cafe restaurant by the local harbour again amazing for sunrise.
If you are a runner the roads are reasonably safe this time of year. Get that dawn run done.
The resort is isolated but for us that was perfect the resort runs a shuttle bus dependent on your activities and budget it's this or a hire car. The resort will organise the hire for you but you can get better deals.
We hired a car and have litterly been everywhere.
We stayed in The blue monkey, (wall painting from ancient akrotiri) traditional vaulted ceiling villa tiled throughout. Air-conditioning hot and cold, walk in shower with rain shower and hand shower. The bed is situated on a mezzanine overlooking the lounge kitchen area. The kitchen is well appointed kettle coffee machine (illy iperespresso) odd pods. You can buy locally but room service give you two daily. The cleaners are meticulous in their attention to detail.

We enjoyed our stay and the staff was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating, and had great suggestions on things to do in the area. Our flight arrived very early and the resort provided transportation and a complementary breakfast while we were waiting for the room to be ready. From the moment we stepped onto the property the staff made us feel comfortable and welcome. We traveled as a family, and the two bedroom villas were nice and spacious – plenty of room for a family of five. This resort is definitely outside of town, so figuring out transportation is a must- which the staff will help with if needed.

My husband and I stayed here for two weeks. Our room was very clean and spacious. The outdoor patio area with pool was lovely. The food was fantastic for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sandesh and Pemba who work in the restaurant were amazing. They were alway smiling, accommodating, and very hard working! The driver for the hotel, Argyris was great! He is super friendly and funny! Everyone at the hotel made you feel like family. I hope to return to this secluded peaceful gem by the sea.

This was our second visit to Desiterra, the site is excellent just as they were last year, staff are fantastic and the spa was bloody lovely! We had a couples massage and it was well worth it.

Superb service from everyone and bloody lovely part of the island because it’s quiet and you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise!

The man who runs the restaurant and bar Sandesh is bloody excellent. Breakfast has a great selection on the menu for everyone. Lunch and dinner options are also great, but we explored a lot more of the island this time round so ate out most days.

Room was clean, tidy, and well kitted out. 100% recommend and we will probably go back again!

We had the most incredible stay at the Desiterra hotel. The hotel was beautifully presented and clean. As a family of 4 we hired the family villa which was lovely with our own pool and fairly spacious. The staff are absolutely wonderful at the property and made our stay so worthwhile. They took care of everything we could ask for.
We used all the facilities: the spa was great and we had a wonderful massage, the gym which was a little small but has what you need, the pool which has lovely views, and the restaurant had exquisite food - highly recommend the lamb chops and beef tagliata!
All in all we couldn’t recommend the hotel more. We would certainly go back.

This was an amazing vacation for our family. We stayed in the saffron gatherers villa which had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, kitchen, nice patio and pool. The villa has AC and it was nice a cool and the patio had the best breeze. The climate was amazing. The breakfast was great with a variety of egg omelettes and eggs and variety of pancake choices (Nutella), greek yogurt and granola, juices. Friendly staff, rooms were super clean and the staff was very attentive . Short car ride to Fira and Oia. We spent some days at the beaches and one day with caldera yachting on a sunset sail (which we HIGHLY recommend) The hotel is in the most perfect location, you can get every where relatively quickly. It is away from the hustle bustle and very peaceful and serene with the most amazing sunrises. The spa has great therapists and treatments as well. The beds were so comfortable and the showers had great water pressure and cold and hot water that never ran out. We travelled with three children. There are not enough stars to rate how amazing this hotel/villa is - amazing!

This property is beautiful and is very well maintained. The staff here are amazing! The location is a bit remote, about 10 minutes drive from Fira, but offers a peaceful atmosphere with great amenities.
I would like to send out a special shoutout to both Michael at the front desk and Argyris, the hotel driver. Michael was always professional and always willing to help in booking excursions and transportation and made good recommendations. Argyris was absolutely amazing!!!! His level of professionalism, strong work ethic and patience, sets him apart from the rest of the staff. He has a paternal effervescence that makes you feel safe and well cared for.

The room was nice, however the service was really poor. We got a private villa (for privacy...)
Firstly, the worker would come into the garden and walked by the pool whilst we were there. Secondly, instead of knocking on the door to speak to us, he would go into the neighbouring villa and talk over the hedge to ask us questions. Bearing in mind we were dress inappropriately so found it very disturbing. Due to the poor sewage system (I assume) the sinks in the room were extremely smelly (like a rotten egg) we complained multiple times until they decided to come and attempt to clean it - but the smell was still present. Overall the room was nice, but smelly and the service was poor. If it was only a few hundred for the stay it wouldn't be bad, but when you pay 1k+ it's very disappointing. We also mentioned it was our anniversary but no efforts were made - not expecting anything, but an acknowledgement would have been appreciated.

The views that we had from our villa was the best of all, but as soon as you get inside of the villa you get that bad smell from the bathroom sewer, the breakfast is nightmare not a lot of choices and even with what they offer a probably a 5 years old will cook better. To get to the property is another story, the roads are dangerous and no light or sign to the property except I believe at the beginning of the main road.

Nice villas and very nice and accommodating staff. the location is a 15-20 min drive to oia and 10 min drive to Fira. You must rent or arrange some sort of transportation (taxis can get expensive). They provide transportation from airport for 30 euros. The area nearby is under construction and really nothing to do near the resort itself. The resort does have a kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner and can be sent to the room. Sunset you will not be able to see the actual sun but the sky is pretty and there are many stars at night.

Our room unfortunately, had a very strong sewage smell. They were very responsive and she came at 10 pm to check and poured chemicals down the drains to help. This is apparently a problem across the island- we did notice a stench in other places. The chemicals did help and we were super appreciative of them working on it!

We both really enjoyed breakfast!

Wasn’t a problem for us because we were only staying for one day, but it’s not the most convent. Be prepared for taxis, using the (paid) shuttle, or renting transport.

Title: Peaceful, Private & Perfect!

Desiterra was the highlight of our Santorini trip! The private villa and pool were gorgeous—super clean, and so relaxing. It’s in a quiet spot just outside of Fira, which was perfect for us.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful with anything we needed. The two Mikes and Evi at the front desk were welcoming and attentive. Sandash and Peuiba in the dining room were excellent bar tenders and Servers. Loved the eco-friendly vibe too. If you want peace, privacy, and great service, this is the place.

One area of improvement would be the availability of English speaking channels on TV .

Otherwise this is a perfect spot to unwind after long days of sightseeing in Fira and Oia.

The hotel was clean and very nice. We stayed in a loft honeymoon suite with private pool. The pool was not heated so kind of cold. Also by 3 pm it was shaded for the day as it was on the north side of the room. So end of day time at pool ended up being the common pool. The room was amazing, very nice. There are pool towels available. They say they will bring them out but never do you have to ask. Food was quite expensive compared to within town. It’s a 10 minute drive to virtually anything, the hotel is all on its own no where to walk around.

Definitely aimed at couples or solos for a luxurious quiet getaway. We were with a 10 year old. All of us loved the place and were gutted to leaveI after 4 nights. Very quiet and out of the way so get a car. If you’re looking for a top class retreat this place is amazing. Food is great as is the service. Bit pricey but it’s to be expected with what the resort is aiming for. Highly recommended, we’ll be back!

We had a beautiful time staying in the honeymoon villa! It is perfect for couples! Very secluded and spacious! The pool was great for the super hot days we had. The property is outside of the city and there is only one hilly rocky road that leads to it. It is a 50 minute walk to Fira so be prepared to rent an ATV, Car or pay 25€ each way for a transfer. For example, We needed to go to the market our first day, it cost us 50€. Aside from that the entire staff are amazing — The drivers, cleaning ladies, hotel staff, every one of them! So welcoming and ready to help in a moments notice! We highly recommend this property!

We really like staying at this property because it’s not in the central town area. It’s out on the island a little ways which makes it very quiet, and less crowded than most areas. It’s a very short drive to get to anywhere that you want to go, so it was nice to be out and away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.we really enjoyed the room we stayed in and it was nice to have your own private pool! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Communication was a struggle at times but we always worked through it. The food at the property is very good as well! We would certainly return for a second stay!

One minor negative was the bathroom which could have done with some improvement and space for towel rack and a paint job. Amazing time and would definitely revisit again! Desiterra is like a private paradise in busy Santorini. You definitely need a car to move around the island as it’s remote from anything else but also that’s what makes it so special. Once you are in the hotel areas you feel a sense of calm, serenity and relaxation that is the best way to start and finish a busy tourism day. The villas are unreal, all the small details make the stay very comfortable and you feel like you have your own home in Santorini and what a home!
The staff make the stay even better with their professionalism in making every guest feel special. Everyone is extremely helpful, friendly and the best in what their do what makes a difference.

I loved all the staff members, Zoi and Michalis at the front desk, Kalia Hercules and Pascals at the restaurant/bar. They really made our stay the best it could have ever been. Their kindness and hospitality was off the charts, some of the best I have experienced at any resort. I especially liked how we were talked to about main attractions, restaurants and things to do in Santorini as soon as we arrived for our stay. And they were able to book everything through the resort for us- including my rental car. It was so efficient and very convenient. I also particularly like the WhatsApp front desk feature- where you can ask them a question any time via message on whats app. So convenient, and they are always online to help!!! I also really like how they have food going almost all the time- breakfast then lunch, then dinner. And room service. A 5 star sublime resort and experience for sure! This resort has everything , from personnel to the facilities . This is just an absolutely 5 star stay resort , top notch. If I come back to Santorini , definitely I will repeat here. Congratulation to the whole Staff .

Average to poor service but good facilities.

The villa was a great size and had good facilities including a pool. However, there was an ant infestation which was still there after the room had been cleaned, communication didn’t feel that easy with staff as they were not very helpful and the restaurant was disappointing - for example we asked for chips and were told they do not get served for dinner however, the same waiter brought out chips to another person in front of us twice for dinner. The food was average if that at best.

The best luxury property and hospitality we’ve experienced on all 5 islands we have visited! Dimitri and his staff provided us with an unforgettable experience while in santorini. They really went above and beyond to make sure we are happy, comfortable and satisfied. We are definitely planning on coming back and recommend everyone to stay at this amazing resort. We had our own private pool in our spacious updated clean villa!

Absolutely beautiful

Absolutely incredible stay. The staff is so accommodating and the property is gorgeous. One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Quiet and private. They arranged for excursions, massages, everything we could possibly need. Just beautiful and worth every penny.

The views are not as advertised. Nowhere in the online pictures do you see dilapidated buildings or power lines obstructing virtually all views. There also is no beach near the property as picture suggest. When these items were point out to staff, they rudely suggested that anyone that didn’t want to be there should leave. I have never had a worse hotel experience anywhere.

Disappointed and wouldn’t stay again

I would not stay here again. I was weary due to the location but after reading amazing reviews was won over and decided to book. First issue - we booked a couples massage in our villa, I have currently been charged twice for this. Once on check out as expected and then another 3 days later. I find this dodgy from a hotel that is aimed as a luxury provider. I have had to go through a process with MasterCard regarding the duplicate charge and still have not received the duplicate payment back. The set up with private pools outside each villa is very nice, however our private pool wasn’t cleaned during our stay and it was very windy, there was dust, leaves and flowers floating all over the top and it would have been nice to have the top skimmed daily. The toiletries weren’t replaced during our stay, towels weren’t replaced and the linen from the previous guest remained in a pile outside the back door of our villa for the first two days. There was hair in the shower when we arrived. It was the little details and service that was missing from this being a great stay. It had so much potential as the set up is nice, however the execution lacked. We have the hassle of trying to get a duplicate payment refunded and it wasn’t the clean high standard we expected from reading the reviews. i was also changed €10 for using a credit card on check out which is a bit ridiculous and we weren’t pre warned of the need to pay in cash.

We really enjoyed our stay. The villa was perfect. The service was exceptional, the staff couldn’t do enough to help. Cleanliness was flawless. Shame there are no restaurants or supermarkets closer, but would definitely return.

Nice spacious villas with private pool. A little isolated from Fira, however, if you prefer to be away from the craziness of Fira and just relax - this hotel is perfect.
Just recently opened a pool bar and small gym area which was great. Hotel Staff are friendly, approachable and accommodating also. Would come back to stay again.

Love this propriety. It’s in the middle of Santorini island, so easy to get around. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The owners even welcomed us and bid farewell. We enjoyed our stay. Will definitely recommend this to anyone for couple or family vacation.
