Not a bad hotel. We got the room that came with 4 twin beds. The room was really small but clean. Unfortunately the bathroom was not great. The shower was very small and the liner kept sticking to you. The shower head didn’t stay in one place, so water kept getting on the floors. The bathroom was my least favorite part of the room. The staff were good for the most part and they sell drinks and snacks in the lobby. If you’re looking for a cheaper stay, this would be a good place to book. They offer free shuttle services that drop you near Fira (7-10 walk) and paid shuttle services to the airport and ferry for a good price. The room was small but intimate and clean.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this charming, peaceful hotel tucked away in a quiet part of the island. From the very beginning, Cindy — who manages the place so effortlessly — went above and beyond for us. Before we even arrived, she arranged a late-night airport transfer after our flight was delayed, ensuring that our family (including the kids) felt safe and well cared for upon landing in a place we’d never visited before. Her communication was fast, clear, and friendly, and she impressed us with her ability to speak fluently in English, French, Greek..etc. Cindy’s husband was equally warm and always seemed to have a solution for anything we needed.

The rest of the team was just as delightful — from the lovely lady who served us by the pool to Sawas, the chef, who was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding and definitely worth recommending.

The location was ideal for relaxation, with a serene beach, the picturesque Exo Gialos Harbour, and a beautiful traditional chapel right next to the hotel. Being on the east side of the island also meant we could enjoy the spectacular Santorini sunrise every morning.

For those who like a livelier scene, the hotel runs a free shuttle service to Fira several times a day until around midnight — a brilliant touch.

A huge thank you to Cindy and the entire team for making our stay so special. We’d gladly return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, friendly, and well-run base in Santorini.

The family who runs the hotel is welcoming and available 24 hours. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the bus transportation depot that takes you to the famous town of Oia to watch the sunset. The only concern is that you have to follow the hotel shuttle schedule that runs every three hours, requiring that you plan accordingly since it is a distance from Fira which is not walking distance.

Good but not very accessible

This hotel is good for people who are looking for a place to relax onsite and not do much sightseeing. The room was great but the hotel needs some upgrades. The reception area is gloomy. This hotel is not accessible by public transit but there is a free shuttle service that takes you from the hotel to Fira 4 or 5 times a day. Close to a beach.

Family run hotel where you can feel Greek culture a bit closer.
Located in a secluded and quiet area around 10 min from Fira city centre, they offer a free of charge transportation every 3 hours which is convenient.
The rooms are modest but well equipped with A/C and mini fridge. Sheets and towels are changed every two days and the overall cleaning is spotless! Not sure if it is a thing in Greece but found weird have to hold the shower over my head.
The breakfast runs from 8-12 and you will have few different and basic set menu to choose for. I picked the ‘Healthy’ and everything tasted very fresh everyday. The lady who helped me had a contagious and genuine smile even when they were busy! efcharistó!
The pool restaurant opens at 4pm in case you don’t want to got back to town they have a tasty and adaptable menu. However if you are planning to spend the day at the hotel you could buy drinks and few snacks at the reception but there are no shops around so be prepared if you like snacking.
As my flight was late, after checking out I could spend the day at the pool, have a shower and dinner before heading to the airport and it was really handy.
I paid €25 for airport transfer and it takes only 10 minutes from the hotel.
Overall I enjoyed very much my staying at Porto Castello and would recommend it for sure!

The hotel was clean,staff very helpful,few steps to the pebble beach/bring water shoes.Place very peaceful and secluded,but you could take free shuttle to busy Fira.Nice,big pool.You can have full breakfast at the hotel ,very convenient.

Porto Castello is a very pretty hotel in a tiny town on Santorini, about 4-6 km from Fira, the main town on Santorini. No elevator. Clean, well kept rooms with balconies. 5 different breakfast types available, paid daily per person. Saltwater pool. Free shuttle with drop off just outside Fira runs about every 3 hours from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. Can arrange airport or port transportation. Staff were wonderful!

When we arrived, they couldn't initially find our reservation booked through Expedia, but then discovered that our reservation started the following day. I had the printout from our reservation, and it was our error, not the hotel's. They quickly found us a room for the extra day and even got us into the room early as we had arrived early in the day from the port. I cannot thank them enough for their assistance in this situation.

Town is very small with very narrow streets, so parking would be difficult. Walk to small beach. Only one or two restaurants in town, so you need to either plan to eat in Fira, the main town, or order delivery from a restaurant in town that they have a menu for. Roads on Santorini are very narrow, with lots of curves and steep drops, so you couldn't easily walk from hotel to anywhere else.

I had a pleasure to stay in Porto Castello September 18-21. In my opinion : good location , near the beach , good size swimming pool, spacious facilities in comparison with Fira’s accommodations , peaceful and quiet place. We could hear the sea waves from our balcony at night. We love the free transportation to and from the hotel to Fira daily. I highly recommend this hotel.

Calm & tranquil hotel.

Calm & tranquil hotel with a pool, and one minute walk to the sea. Quiet & peaceful, away from all the madness.
There's a free shuttle service to/from Fira every three hours.
There are various breakfasts served untill 12pm. You can also order from a take away menu for lunch and dinner.
Cindy and George are lovely.
The only negative for me was smoking is allowed in the rooms..

Excellent place to stay. Team working in hotel extremely friendly and helpful. They help us with all the problems with other booking ( sightseeing booking). If I will be going again to Santorini I definitely will choose this hotel. Area is really relaxing, beach is only few yards from hotel and there is bar next to the beach. Beach is quiet, excellent for sunbathing and swimming. There is nice swimming pool in hotel , and rooms area cleaned daily, with fresh towels every second day. Hotel staff went above and beyond and they do provide free transportation to Thira and from Thira to hotel. If you look for friendly , quiet and climatic place this hotel definitely is ticking all the boxes.

A hidden gem in Thira

George & Cindy have great hosting skills, always relaxed and friendly. The shuttle service is free and is a great plus point than wanted me to stay at this place. Had no issues with cleanliness at the hotel. It was a nice relaxed vibe. Loved the balcony and sea view from my room. The sea, and small picturesque harbour is also a minutes walk away.
Nice quiet area, not like noisy and busy Thira town.

Positives: The main host i.e., the husband and wife has good customer service skills and demonstrated a lovely family relaxed environment approach.

Could Do Better:
The property is situated nearly 4kms away from the Town centre; so although reasonable arrangements are there for drop-off every two hours to town and pick-up on request, but the same drop-off is done at the outskirts in the ring road and picked up from the same point; this is not ideal for the tourists who has no idea of where they are and the place name to return back to pick up point especially on the day-1.
The town centre meeting point is just another 400 yards away but it is a steep up-hill with lots of buses parked and limited walking space making it very difficult to get there each and every time. It hardly takes another 1-2 minute to drive-up and join back to ring road!
Although picking-up is done, the time management could be improved as everytime 5-10 minutes late from the agreed time.

Extremely Pleased With This Hidden Gem!

I extended my Mediterranean holiday by staying here for 4 nights at Porto Castello. It was my first time to Greece and this hotel and area did not disappoint. Only a short distance from the airport in a less populated area of the island, steps from the Sea and absolutely gorgeous coastline that is accessible, walkable and swimmable.
They offer a very decent, ample continental style breakfast, free shuttle service every 2 hours to the city and airport transport for a fee. The room is clean spacious with a private outdoor sitting area.
The pool is not heated but is I believe filtered sea water, deep and quite large with wonderful sitting, tanning spaces surrounded by gorgeous flowers. They offer a nice kiosk where you can purchase snacks, drinks or a very nice meal. There is also a very nice more upscale outdoor restaurant right on the beach, a dock where you can fish, watch boats and wild life. I would have stayed longer had I not other commitments.
Staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast area and lounge are very nice, with spacious sitting couches and chairs and a large television for those that desire.

I booked online paying attention to everything that was listed as STANDARD.. Standard sea view? that was a lie, when I opened my window it was hill. Minibar and drinks? that was a lie, they provided an EMPTY fridge. They didn’t provide any toiletries besides 2 bar soaps the size of quarters. Literally nothing else. Ohh and the shower? No water pressure AT ALL, I have pictures. Oh and u have to hold up the shower head with one of your hands because there was no holder. I contacted the supervisor/manager and they told me that every room is like that, that the water flow and shower head was like ours. The supervisors/managers extremely rude given an attitude about anything you asked. Very unprofessional and I recommend whoever is looking at this site to stay away from this hotel. I can go on and on and we only stayed 3 days so imagine for yourself.

The free shuttle transfer into Fira was a godsend couldn't have done without it, could have done with being every hour in the evening though. Small balcony for 1 person, room was cleaned regularly but there were insects crawling around. I had them spray the room and it was okay after that. Not really anything close to the hotel though the small beach was a bonus and there's a nice restaurant / bar on it, though I didn't dine there.

The greeting was very nice. They bring your luggage to your room. It's very clean though the cleaning products they use doesn't smell too good. The room was ok size, very cute. The shower was small with the curtain always sticking to your body and we had to hold the telephone shower as there was no hook. Small old tv, one hard bed and one softer bed, pillows comfortable. Very quiet area far from everything. Marina close by about 5 min. to get there with a very very nice restaurant called Yalos. Nice big pool. People very nice. I did like the hotel but you need a car to get around.

Only one restaurant, taverna within walking distance, and nothing else, so a car is essential and even then it is a good 10 /15 drive to he nearest other taverna, and another 10 minutes to the next. Not the kind of selection most people come to a Greek Island for.

Wonderful family hotel close to beach.

As a family the hotel was perfect. Free shuttle bus every 2 hours in to the town. Beach approx 100m away, awesome restaurant on the beach.
Hotel food very reasonably priced good value for money.

Pretty isolated location but they do a great job with free transfers to/from town every 2 hrs. Rent a car/atv if u stay here and want total freedom (int drivers license needed!!). There is a small beach at bottom of road (3min walk) but it's covered in natural woody debris that clings to everything. Must bring your own beach/pool towels! Otherwise, it was pretty awesome. A/c worked great, plenty of hot water, staff was great, beautiful setting, free town transfers. Easy to get to public transportation to the main areas/towns to visit (which were amazing). Great value with a bit more travel time needed. I would stay here again! (maybe with a vehicle/atv)

Poor Wifi Connection, Far from City Center

Porto Castello is far from those travel spots like Fira or Oia or Kamari. No public transports, you can only take the free shuttle bus service to Fira, provided every 2 hours. Surrounding with only one restaurant at the beach or you can have the food provided by the hotel snack bar at the swimming pool. The wifi there is extremely poor and we cannot even use our own data in the hotel. The reception staff is impolite in someway.

Our stay at Porto Costello was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing that lets it down is the location as there is nothing around it apart from a very lovely beach. The hotel does offer a free shuttle bus to Firá which is very helpful but only goes every 2 hours so if you want to explore you may need to hire a vehicle. Breakfast also wasn’t great so recommend getting the shuttle to Firá for breakfast. Pool area is lovely and it’s perfect for a base at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend

This is an OK hotel for the money as long as you know there is nothing close by and you will definitely need a car to get around. Our overall experience was ok because we ended up renting a car the first morning and we hardly spent any time at the hotel.

Very nice hotel for budget travellers

This was a very good hotel if you were looking for a budget and decent hotel. Has a beach nearby and has its own swimming pool. The hotel is quite far to Fira but not to worry theres free hotel transportation for the guests every 2 hours until midnight and they provide car rental for a very cheap price 35 euro per day which was a steal cause originally we wanted to rent a 130euro car from the airport (we're students). All and all would recommend if you want to save money and just find a decent place to stay

I called the hotel prior to my arrival to let them know that I'am coming in late evening. When I arrived the place was dark and nobody there to assist. The key to my room was left at registration desk with assigned room number.

As soon as, I saw the room it looks dirty and bathroom is being renovated. The room felt uncomfortable and I didn't feel safe, so I decided not to stay and again nobody was around to help so I can check out.

This was not a pleasant experience and definitely will not recommend to anyone.

good value for the money, very tidy room, good breakfast, free bus service. It is a wonderful experence and I highly recommend it to all the friends and those who would like to visit Santorini.

Good value for money

We stayed here for three nights and felt that, overall, the hotel was very good value for money. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a lovely pool made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was basic, but adequate, and the free shuttle to Fira, which leaves/returns every two hours from 8am until midnight, was a great added bonus. The nearest beach is a one minute walk away and the restaurant there is just lovely. We rented quad bikes from the reception to explore the island and has a delightful stay.

Lovely staff, great hotel close to a beach

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was lovely. We had a balcony view of the sea and the room was very clean. The location is on the quieter side of the island so I would recommend hiring a scooter or quad bike to get around although there is a free shuttle bus that runs regularly. It's a very cost effective way of seeing the island and there is a great bar at the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, it is so far from the City, they offer a shuttle bus but the schedule is not punctual and the driver was very impolite. I was waiting for the shuttle bus and as I was waiting for long time I called to the hotel, but the receptionist was rude as well. Finally they didn't pick me up and I had to rent a car to reach the hotel (there is not public transport to there and even taxis don't go to this zone). The staff were more than rude in some moments, terrible for any business!!

Nice hotel with pool and close to the beach

The hotel is amazing, clean, the staffing are very helpful. The pool is beautiful and they have nice food as well. If you wanna go to the beach is only 2 mins walk from the hotel. The only issue I would say is the Wi-fi in the rooms, specially because we spent 8 days in the same hotel and at some point we wanted to talk with our family and we couldn't. They have the van to Fira every 2 hours where you can have dinner at very good restaurants, some drinks, appreciate beautiful views, walk through the small roads. I highly recommend to rent a Scooter. Me and my husband did the whole island in 4 days, went to the main beaches, did the boat tour to Volcano, Hot springs, Thirassia Island. We enjoyed a lot Santorini and the hotel we stayed at.

Rooms are lovely and clean, though not sea views from any of the three rooms we had booked, though this was on our booking. Balcony is spacious and overall the hotel rooms are nice.
The staff were lovely throughout the week and were very helpful. The free transfer to Thira is an excellent way to travel in as it is less than 10 minutes drive but I doubt walkable! They are every 2 hours but would take us for 5 euro at any time.
Breakfast is not that great, limited on choice but there is only one other beach restaurant in the area. It's a very peaceful area and the beach is lovely but it is in the middle of nowhere! Great for a peaceful trip.

good value for santorini

I read both good and bad reviews of this hotel. Most of the bad ones were from people maybe expecting club med for 25 eruos. The pool was great, the WiFi worked, the rooms were basic but clean an adequate. The shuttle service to Fira worked well.

Good for the price

The hotel is a bit far out from the airport and Fira. You definitely need to have a car or an ATV to get to the hotel and also to leave the hotel and into Fira or Oia. But, the hotel is right next to the ocean. No shampoos provided, but towels are available.

Don't miss the Porto Castello hotel in Santorini!

I just returned from spending 6 nights at the Porto Castello. The hotel's best feature is the beach, Exo Gialos, which is literally 20 steps away, and the quiet and peaceful little neighborhood where it's tucked away. Rooms are simple but clean, safe and comfortable. The hotel staff is top-notch - it's a family run business - and accommodates guests (at least me!) very well. My room on the 2nd floor had a private terrace with a table and chairs which made for a fantastic outdoor space. The salt water pool is fantastic with lounge chairs, tables and proper chairs, other sling-backed chairs for sunning and a pool bar with drinks and food service poolside. What you really need to realize about this hotel is that it is located about a 5 minute drive outside of Fira. It's a long walk on foot (I tried once but with the climbs and the serpentines, I gave up half way) and so you need the hotel's shuttle service which runs free every 2 hours. I recommend the hotel enough. Don't miss this Santorini gem!

Nice hotel 1 minute from the beach

Free pick up from the airport and a shuttle bus to thira every 2 hours. Good clean pool area could have done with more sunbeds and some umbrellas as this area is in the sun all day. Our room was kept very clean we had clean sheets and towels every 2 days. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom could have done with more light bulbs as it was a bit dark. Breakfast basic but adequate. Beach 1 minute away nice restaurant on the beach very comfortable sunbeds. Would definitely stay again.

Too far from town

Close to the beach however too far from town. The shuttle bus only ran every 2 hours which was tricky. Would've preferred to stay where the action was.
Staff also not very helpful.

As good as cheap gets in Santorini

Good price for a hotel so close to Fira. However, it is a little dated and could do with small touches such as shower curtains! The pool area was a pleasant surprise compared to the hotel interior. The shuttle bus is convenient and necessary as the hotel is a good 10 min drive from Fira. The beach and bar nearby are definitely worth visiting. Reception staff were very helpful.
