The room was clean and in good condition.
The blind cords were very high, if I was shorter than 170cm, I would have had great difficulty in reaching them. The same with the clothes rail in the wardrobe.
Traffic/train noise was problematic and block out blinds need to be installed in the living/lounge area.

Requested a city veiw room. Confirmed when checked in. Get to the room and it’s not a city view room. Went to the lobby in the morning to collect breakfast. Keycard didn’t work on the lift to get back up. Called the number at reception which then gives you another number to call. Called that no answer. Called again was told she would be down in a few minutes. 10 mins later called again then she let me up to my room to eat my cold breakfast. Have stayed here several times the person at reception prior to this stay was fantastic.

We stayed as a family of 3 during the 2025 F1 Grand Prix. The location was excellent; easy to navigate to via motorways & major arterial roads and trams/trains were very close offering plenty of options. The 2-bedroom apartment was clean & modern. There is a gym, spa and sauna in the complex which guests are able to use. Undercover & secure parking was available for $20/day. Sebel staff were courteous & efficient.

Check in was ok, the guy sounded like he was simply giving his automated spiel and really didn’t seem to care too much.
Room was clean and suited our needs. Windows were horribly dirty which meant you couldn’t really see out at all, possibly not cleaned in a very long time.

Great value

For what you pay it was really good value. There is no room service or room cleaning however its in a very good location, onsite parking and great kitchenette facilities. My only real issue was the matress was tired and the blinds didnt blackout.
I would come back.

The property is quiet and clean, and its proximity to Coles makes it an ideal choice for those wishing to cook and dine in during their stay

Unfortunately, there was very little Sebel could do about it other than agree to my request for a late checkout.

Ok but disappointing.

A hotel in a residential / student accommodation block. It does not feel like a hotel. There is no service - except when we were first greeted which was ok, and the room was not serviced at all. The building had a feel and smell ( mainly of inroom cooking) of a permanent living establishment. Our room was ok - a small two bedroom, but showed signs of living - the walls was scuffed, the door would not close unless pushed as the flooring had lifted and the furniture was bare minimum. There were no draws or cupboards for putting clothes in except the wardrobes that had 3 hangers. The living room couch was dreadful. The shower and toilet was clean but small. Beds were comfortable. The room was ok for a quick visit to hospital ( about 10 minute cab drive away) but i would not stay there for any other reason as a hotel.
We cost of the room was poor value.
I had a look at the terrace garden, jacuzzi, private rooms they looked quite pleasant.
There were no meal options at the hotel.
Overall it was a room - an expensive room, in a largely residential building and it was just ok for our purpose.

The location was convenient to Cabrini. The apartment itself was spacious, modern, clean.The Sebel Malvern is not exclusively a hotel. There were many student residents, which gave a different feel than expected of a hotel. Its location right on Dandenong Road means 4 lanes of traffic each way, trams nearby and a train line. It was really noisy all day and all night.

I was given the room on level 8 facing West, on the Dandenong road side with very high volume of road traffic, trains and trams making it very noisy at night. The aircon is in the living room and after full day of summer with direct sunlight in the room after 4pm, it becomes so warm that the aircon becomes ineffective in the bedroom. All in all it becomes a nightmare with warm bedroom and traffic noise. No wonder I couldn’t sleep for even 3 hours!
2) The ratio of lifts to people/visitors using the lifts can become very unfavourable at peak times. The wait times can be significantly high.
3) The housekeeping is not done daily. The management is still hiding behind the Covid excuse, which is really a shame.

Overall, never ever staying here again.

The only problem was no service to the room, we stayed 2 nights and the beds were not made the rooms cleaned, or fresh towels or coffee refilled. Apparently we had to request this service given covid as the excuse. I have never had to request such a service before and found this very poor.

The Sebel is clean and convenient if you're in Caulfield or Malvern East. There's a Coles across the street, a train station is nearby, and there are lots of good restaurants within easy walking distance. Monash University is about.a 3 minute walk. But the place is really noisy. It's next to Dandenong Road and the train lines. If you stay there, bring ear plugs.

Positive - Was a comfortable stay, rooms were very clean, kitchen nice and fresh, comfortable bed. View from outside balcony was amazing. This building Could have really utilised this view better!

Negative - the largest blind in one bedroom was permanently fixed to closed so you couldn’t see the view. Only a small window on show. I would say this is due to not being the deluxe and not wanting people to have that experience? Strange.

The noise - we were on the 7th floor - early morning traffic/trucks noisy. Also a loud ventilation fan? was on ALL night. Could not turn off, was part of building? If your a light sleeper, this may be a deal breaker.

Receptionist - was not rude to us but was quite short and rude to the person in front of us. A bit like she was frustrated in her job. Corrects people. Felt a bit intimidated.

Outdoor balcony - outside has a outdoor table and chairs, and a balcony wall overlooking the highway and Melbourne. - beautiful. However, if you had little kids and they grabbed a chair to look over the edge? Incredibly unsafe for kids. Please watch your kids outside. 7th floor looked incredibly scary looking down from this balcony ledge that didn’t seem high enough. Glass needed on top of rail?

Building - Disappointing the developer didn’t utilise the view better from each apartment. - unless outside. To have a deluxe suite to see the view is a money grab. You could ask for more money for stays by upgrading building for the views alone.

No housekeeping during our 3 day stay.

The bedroom and bathroom are super small, no hangers in bedroom (3 in total, two had robes on them).

Bedroom had two single mattresses pushed together wasn't comfortable with mattress seams and ill fitting sheets - mattress protector straps were broken and didn't stay in place.

Air conditioning sensor was broken (pushed into the wall) in lounge room. Had to stand on a chair and poke the remote into the hole to make it work

We fixed their squeaking bedroom and bathroom doors for them.

A sense that the room was a bit tired, and needed a good clean.

A bit of road and train/tram noise through the night. Location is good though.

We disliked that we were given the wrong keycard to a room that was already occupied. The poor fellow got a fright when our party of 4 entered his room, after being told it was ours. A trip back to the front office and we were given our correct keycard to our correct room. A very awkward and embarrassing situation for all involved.

Everything was great and the person who checked us in was excellent. My only comment is to do with the air conditioning. It would have been great if it had been turned on prior to our arrival. The day we checked in the weather was hot and steamy. The room was like a furnace on arrival ( the glass windows give a great panoramic view but also capture a lot of heat). The room took a few hours to cool down although the bedrooms remained quite hot overnight as there are no air conditioning vents in the bedrooms. I imagine it would be quite a challenge to add a/c vents in the bedrooms. Maybe ceiling fans could be considered?

The location was great. Car parking excellent and the staff at reception exceptional. Unfortunately I would have to reconsider staying there in the summer due to the climate control issues in the bedrooms.
