The room was moldy. It was filthy with plaster dust.
It was absolutely disgusting. Toilet paper stuffed in cracks to seal draughts. Mice droppings, cockroaches.

DO NOT STAY HERE, It is horrible. Infested with cockroaches, we ended up not staying here and they wouldn’t refund us even though we didn’t stay. The bathroom window was missing so bugs just coming in.
I have requested WOTIF remove this property so no one else has to experience this.
Be careful using WOTIF to book stays as they obviously don’t check the properties are at a certain level. It should at least have all windows, doors that lock and be clean. I am very disappointed with WOTIF and that this property was even available on their website and App.

The property is very dirty. The corridors & room smelled an awful smell. There was noise in the building. People yelling, drunk people outside, the main glass door was smashed. The furniture was dusty & smelly including pillows and bed sheets. The curtains were broken and allowed light to come through early morning.

Might need to some maintenance around the building. Better kitchen facilities required. Leaking toilet in bathroom. One thin quilt on a 4 degree night. Cable tie under the sheet of single bed. Chocolate milk spilt all over wall next to main bed, sheets covered in same chocolate milk.

If you are on a tight budget and can accept a partly repurposed, almost derelict property with parking, cooking, and good access to public transport, you should consider the price worth considering. If you are looking for a tidy, comfortable and well appointed room, perhaps look elsewhere.
We found an unlockable door, broken stove top and unworking TV, among other things but managed to negotiate a fair solution and appreciated the attractive price for a convenient location. The bed, toilet and shower all allowed us to enjoy our stay albeit without the comforts Australian travellers would normally expect.

This is not a hotel of apartments, it is a very old run down apartment building where the owners of the room hire them out.

The twin room was actually a single room (the pictures are out dated and entirely fake). It was supposed to have a double bed and a single bed, it only had a fold out couch. Which if folded out you couldn't get to the tiolet.

The room had damage and i had to ask for a key to be able to look the security screen, which they had to give me the master key as the didn't have another one.

Just don't stay here. The only good thing about the whole place was the lovely front desk person. He tried his best to help and when he realised the next day that we didn't stay he was happy to provide an almost complete refund.

There were no fly screens on the windows, no airconditioning just a slow ceiling fan. We didn't stay, we checked in at 6pm and left at 6.30pm to get other accommodation.

Was given insect bombs on the way into the room, was cleaned but stuff left in room from other people. Was very creepy because there was someone walking up and down to my room and knocking on the door both nights I stayed, was in fear for my life not knowing what was going to happen.

Light switches & electrical switches were hanging off the walls. No light globe in bathroom. No blind or curtain in bathroom.
The old fridge was very noisy & was dirty inside & the ice in ther freezer section had frozen peices of vegetables stuck in it. The bed had blod stained sheets. The tiles in the kitchen were broken & smoke were missing. No fire alarms installed.

I am extremely unhappy with Watif for booking me into this very dangerous room and I would strongly recommend removing this establishment from your books

If you love your life, stay away from this place.
The room had wirings exposed. The mattress stank and the side tables had all marks and scratches on it. Everyone living there was scary and the only thing good was the person at the help desk. We left the property within a hour of checking in.

We didn't get to stay at Redan because there were plumbing problems overnight and we were told our booking had been moved to the other side of the city, which was not convenient. Reception could not confirm we would get a refund and in fact were reluctant to cancel our booking. I was told to contact wotif.com. A major feat in itself. Once we reached Wotif we were told we would probably lose the first night's booking, and also that our booking was in 'stay' status. Meaning the booking showed we were already in the hotel. This was because the text message sent about the plumbing arrived at midday. Once we looked around to secure another hotel I then rang to cancel our booking. I've just seen my bank statement and the entire 5 nights's cost has been charged to me. Not a great 'stay' and disappointing service, as well as at a very difficult time.

I had business in the area. Due to the lack of parking I was \"upgraded\" to a different location 40 minutes away, longer due to traffic. The room was below any star rating. There was no management available when a guest decided to play extremely loud music from 2:00am until 7:30am. When guest complained the music just went louder. I would have been better off sleeping in the car.

Overall very poor condition of the property and rooms. Not a pleasant place to stay and it felt unsafe in that it probably didn’t meet current building standards. Door locks loose, wires hanging out of the wall, no fly screens on windows no cold water in the kitchen and a general smell of stale cigarette.

The kitchen was riddled with German cockroaches and baby cockroaches, the grounds were full of rubbish, the roof leaked in the rain, the internet didn't work on the side of the building I was staying. I checked out the next day - disgusting !

As a major company you really need to consider having a relationship with this place. Rubbish outside everywhere, garden made it looked like it was abandoned, noone in reception and no easy ph number to ring, room was worst I have experienced, no lighting on stairs. Terrible.

BEWARE - UNSAFE & DIRTY - DO NOT STAY HERE

Front desk clerk was pleasant and accommodated us to check in early since we were traveling with luggage. However, when we checked-in, we found the building to be in horrid condition with water damage, dirty laundry piles in the office, broken windows, and grime everywhere. The hallways were \"open to air out the smoke.\" Our room didn't open at first because lock was jammed. Once we got inside, we didn't want to touch anything. Carpet is stained with white spots everywhere. Linens had what looked like cigarette burns and blood spots. Windows were stuck wide open with no screens. Holes in bathroom wall with brick & insulation spilling out beside toilet. Kitchenette sink and shower had died & live bugs crawling around. My last test was to check under mattress and saw what was dozens of brown & red spots - bed bug & blood stains. VRBO didn't issue a refund when I called & so I submitted video evidence of broken windows, locks, and bugs . Couldn't pay me to stay there.

Location very good. Shower excellent. Bed pleasant and comfortable and I slept well. Some noise (pipes, door bangs) but not at sleeping times while I stayed. Everything functional but looking worn in places. Everything looked clean but some small cockroaches occasionally in sight. (Did not worry me but others may differ)

Door into apartment was warped and required pushing with a shoulder to open. When trying to get out, had to keep pulling on the door knob. Door into bathroom would not close due to warping.
No reverse cycle air cnditioning: steam radiator provided minimal warmth. A ceiling fan appears to be the only form of cooling. No remote control for the TV and no light switch near the bed.
Fridge kept the tinnies cold!

Everything was falling apart. The door was nearly impossible to close because it had been smashed in and badly repaired. Doors have no luck in this place, the bathroom cupboard only had one door attached. There was only one cup and one fork available. No spoons. Room service only came on day one of our four-day stay. The internet did not work.

There is secure parking if you can get into it, which is difficult. That's how secure it is!

The location is good, short walking distance to a 24-hour bottle shop. You'll need it.

The first night we were there we couldn't sleep because of a fellow guest screaming all night at someone who may or my not have existed. We complained the next day and they did move her to another room, so that was good.

Would I stay again? Yes, but we all have our own standards.

The condition of the room was appalling. It was filthy with paint falling off the walls. The floor was dirty and there was mould all in the bathroom. No mattress protector on the dirty mattress. The kitchen was old and unappealing. The room was for a couple but it only had 1 towel, 1 mug and 1 coffee satchel. Never again.

The room smelt like smoke, the door didnt lock properly. There was a very angry resident who continually walked around yelling and swearing. I didnt feel safe going back there at dark to sleep so i ended up driving home 3 hours away at 10.30 after my concert instead of going back to that place. Not impressed at all!

There is nothing good to say about this property! Condom wrapper on the floor, bottom of kettle was melted, mould on bathroom roof, bathroom door wouldn't close unless banged, shower door wouldn't stay closed, 1 glass that was putrid and no other kitchenware that I would use personally, constant banging and then someone that shouldn't even be inside was under the stairs... I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.. EVER

It's sad they can't put a bit of effort into it.

It was horrific! There was cockroaches everywhere in the room! Had to sleep with the light on! The mugs in the room, looked like they haven't been washed in 30 years! The \"kitchenette\" area looked riddled with diseases.
The minute we got there, we had some drunk guy stumbling around in front of us, asking for a cigarette. (I know this might not have anything to do with the place, but it added to the whole horrible, uncomfortable experience.
Certainly not worth paying what they're asking. I was gobsmacked!

The worst accomodation! This building needs to be knock down. About to DECAY! Health and sanitation authority needs to check this building as it is not safe for everyone. Horrible hallway, dirty carpets, broken shower head, very old bed, dirty bed covers with cigarette burnt on it, and the worst, we were bitten by bedbugs. PLS PLS STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE AND DISGUSTING APARTMENT!

Filthiest accommodation I have ever stayed at. Rooms never serviced, towels never changed, dirty doona/blankets and couch, filthy grounds, drainage problems meant dirty, smelly water lying around outside, also meant a maximum of a two minute shower before water overflowed, needles lying around everywhere outside, one night there was someone actually sleeping on floor near reception

Only after complaint to Hotels.com and them following through with manager was I offered an 'upgrade' to something that came anywhere near the photos posted on hotels.com
I can't go I to detail at how bad the original room was, but the upgrade was still far from acceptable. Doesn't appear to be any interest in cleanliness as same rubbish was lying around outside and on stairwells the two weeks that I was there.
I'll deffinately read the user reviews more carefully for future bookings. Credit to hotels.com for getting me an upgrade at least.

Blankets, carpet and couch had many stains and hair and dust all over the couch. One cupboard door was off it's hinges. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and the floor was filthy and had not been cleaned in some time.
I was woken up at 9:30 from a knock on the door to the receptionist. So he could get my rook key before check out at 10. It took me a while to find but he stood outside my room and waited. Found this very strange as there was a sign inside the room saying we should lock the room and give key to reception. Overall not a good experience.

How is this place legal?

It was cheap and had bad reviews, but there wasn’t many options as it was busy around town.
The reception is never open unless you ring and then he appears up to half hour later.
Too bad if you needed something quickly.
The general cleanliness was appalling. Dust and damp everywhere.
Not sure how safe the place is, everything is old and when the ceiling fan turned on by itself in the middle of the night, well, electrics are good.

Woke up in the morning too discover the battery had been removed from the smoke detector.
Thought about a coffee but the cup wasn’t too appealing.
Also decided that he shower would probably make is dirtier.

Room filthy, bed horrible, cockroaches in bathroom, drawers hanging off hinges, smashed shower door. Wouldnt take my shoes off as floor disgusting and wouldn’t even use a glass to drink water. No light bulbs, no fly screen on window, smoke alarm on bench, terrible health hazard. Absolutely disgusting. I would recommend you take this place off your site and hopefully someone burns it down. Didn’t sleep a bit as drug deal going on in street outside and found pills on footpath on quick exit this morning.

This hotel is really dirty. Walls were stained with what looked like ear wax. Fans were dusty. Bathroom had other people's hair on shower tiles. Toilet bowls were stained. Mattress had bed bugs that made us itchy all night. And staff did not provide good customer service. So Unhygenic! So disapointing!

This is the first negative review I've ever wrote. I'm not one to moan but this place is absolutely disgusting!! We checked in and out within the hour. Preferred to lose our money than stay. Room stunk of smoke and sweat, there was cigarette butts and rubbish under the beds, mould on the walls, ceiling, bathroom, kitchenette cupboards. Lots of cockroaches in kitchenette cupboards. Stained carpet and bedsheets, bedsheets had pot holes. Electrics hanging off walls. And while we sat in the room to book another hotel we were both bitten by bugs numerous times. It's just pure filth. A health inspector should be contacted

I didn't even stay hear after seeing the rooms
its so bad my dog wouldn't even want to stay here.
I contacted Wotif and they said they would call me back Still waiting for call
They also said they would be taking this hotel of there system its still on there

Zero customer service, awful facilities.

No reception staff at any time I stayed there, duty managers didn’t answer their phones. Wardrobe doors were off their rails, fan was filthy, no air conditioning, shower hadn’t been cleaned since the last person had stayed there. Bed springs were broken.

Appalling

Shocking condition. Leg of bed missing and had to be propped up, No glasses. only one plate and cutlery set. Toilette cistern cracked. Wardrobe hanging bar and hangers missing. Fire detector disabled. Vegetables left in kitchen cupboards. This is definitely a place of last resort! .

Terrible hotel DO NOT STAY!

I did not end up staying here as it was filthy and there was a used syringe in one of the cupboards so I packed up my bags and stayed elsewhere.

Not happy at all

If you want to wear shoes in the shower this hotel is for you , it was filthy

The bed must have had an elephant and a rhinoceros jump on it , apart from springs it felt hollow

The carpet was pure filth putting aside the stains it had not been vacuumed. There were peanuts under the edge of the bed,

You will be better off sleeping in your car or on a bus stop bench

DONT BOTHER WITH THIS HOTEL

this place should be closed down its dirty smelly and just run down to the max its in a great locatio but that is where it stops
the manager smokes in his office it stinks of cigarette smoke and the carpets are not clean i have sent photos of my room and the disgusting state it was in
many people on substances living in this appartment complex
so please stay away and i also contacted the council and spoke with the health dep they informed me that there is a full investigation into this building with the police involved as they know about the drug problem and complaints from neighbours
so morally i think this building should be pulled from all booking sites so no body has to go through the misery of staying here

Window was left open in my room,room was wet,bed was broken,had moulde in shower,toilet was smashed,bugs in room,bed was dirty,and the list goes on,,DO NOT STAY HERE.sleep on park bench instead

Dirty Toilet, Rude Staff, unclean room

After hours check in was arranged for my staff. However on arrival it took 30minutes for them to be let in. Reception staff for not pleasant at all.

The room had not been cleaned. The bed had not been made. The toilet was filthy and the shower was just as bad. The room had a very musty odour smell.

Arrived, appalled, and DID NOT STAY.

Redan Apartments are totally misrepresented online. We arrived and were not even able to get inside because the door bells are broken. \"Luckily\" a resident arrived home and let us in. The condition of the place is appalling. Cigarette butts litter the property. Shady characters hang out in cars at the back and in the corridors. The locks on the room doors are hanging off. The bathrooms are mouldy. The manager is filthy and rude and can't look you in the eye. Moreover, for only a few dollars more we stayed for 6 nights at the superb Cosmopolitan in Carlisle St, St Kilda, where the manager offered us a complementary bottle of wine to help us get over the trauma of escaping from Redan Apartments!!
