Honestly, after reading some of the reviews regarding this establishment, I was quite nervous as to what to expect.
After staying there, I can confidently say that this property was fantastic. The room was clean, had everything needed, including a coffee machine, the bed was extremely comfortable, no traffic noise and the best thing was the secure yard/parking with locked gates. Location was excellent, walking distance to restaurants and Palais Theatre. Even though you have to check-in at Crest on Barkly, that really wasn't an issue and was very straightforward. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was ok. The complex is a motel, not appartments as advertised. I had a problem guest next door who was constantly arguing and slamming doors and riding a motorcycle around in front of the rooms. Some arguments were with motel staff. Went on all 3 nights I was there. Ruined my stay.

I do not usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely unacceptable.

From the moment I entered the room, multiple serious issues were obvious.

The in-room safety deposit box was already locked and unusable.
The bathroom sink would not drain because the stopper was stuck closed, causing dirty water to sit in the basin.
The coffee machine still contained a used capsule from a previous guest, clearly not cleaned.
When I pulled back the sheets, there were multiple long hairs on the bed.

These are not minor inconveniences. They are basic hygiene and maintenance standards that any hotel should meet.

What makes this more frustrating is that the hotel requires a $300 credit card authorisation and strict ID verification upon arrival. If such strict policies are enforced, guests should reasonably expect rooms to be properly cleaned and inspected.

This stay has been extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend this property unless significant improvements are made in cleanliness and quality control.

The room was great. Added bonus of simple breakfast items (cereal and toast). Staff very courteous.
But very noisy with little insulation between rooms and every time someone near you had a shower the water pipes were noisy. This became a problem when the person next to you was going in and out of the door with the door slamming, having a shower until 2.30am. Not much sleep that night.

Check in was fine, but it’s a bit painful having to go to an alternate site (particularly after a long drive)! There was not enough parking on-site. The room was pleasant & clean. Except for the shower. The hand held part didn’t work & something very slippery had been left on the shower floor, nearly broke my neck as a result!!! The snacks were a godsend.

The room was clean and tidy, comfortable and the basic breakfast provisions were a welcome surprise. There was a bit of noise from outside the complex after 10pm but otherwise I had a good stay. The checkin process at another site at Barkly St was inconvenient as it is about 20’ walk away (and 15’ by car in horrendous StKilda evening traffic as I checked in after 6pm on a warm midweek evening). Receptionist was friendly and efficient though. Oh, and the onsite carpark (20 dollars extra) is rather squeezy!

Everything was great however check in was at a sister property about a 5m drive from the property. Had we know this prior I would have possibly booked elsewhere. For check out we were told to use a drop box but then we still needed to come by the sister property to check out. Not very practical. Room was clean and had great amenities.

Room has rain coming into it. The beds have a flat sheet over the doona and the carpet is damp and doesn’t go all the way to the walls.
There’s no reception at this hell hole and upon arriving you find a sign telling you to go somewhere else to check in.
Better at a backpackers hostel.

I have enjoyed my previous stays at the property very much. This stay was not as good. The quality of house keeping has slipped enormously. The mugs and cutlery were dirty (and obviously so) and there was no butter (to have on our toast) on the second day of our stay. There are also maintenance issues. The coffee maker is self evidently broken and does not work. The lighting above the outside stairs (from the first to the ground levels) does not work. Descending those stairs in the dark is difficult and dangerous (and is a significant OH&S matter). It is a shame these issues have emerged, as otherwise the property is very good.

The room was great it was large, the bed was soft and cozy, the shower was big but there was so much water leakage that the bath mat got drenched, there was rubbish left from a previous guest in the drawer under the TV as well as in the bedroom drawers, I threw it all in the bin. The kitchen was well stocked as well as a Continental breakfast which was nice. I felt secure and safe in this property. I would stay again. Just a little more care needs to be taken by staff to check all drawers for items left by previous guests. This should be a automatic

These guys are shooting themselves in the foot with checkin located at another hotel on the other side of St Kilda. The room was fantastic with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on in Melbourne, but why they don't have onsite checkin during the peak hours (3pm - 7pm) has got to be costing them more in bad reviews than what they are saving on labor costs.

I was suppose to stay at your sister motel in Windsor however I received A late email stating that no one would be in attendance therefore I was expected to drive to St Kilda and pick up keys and then return to the Windsor motel. I was very upset at this inconvenience and believe this should of been stated on the website. I would not have booked a room if I had of known and would not recommend your motels because of this. When I finally arrived at the Dt skikda motel, no one was attending the desk which added to further stress. I had driven 4 hours to Melbourne only to be diverted to a different motel. After 10 minutes a lady appeared and was friendly and helpful. I explained my dissatisfaction with having to go to another motel to pick up keys in traffic and a city I was unfamiliar which I found extremely stressful, I asked if I could stay at the st kilda motel to which she agreed.

The cleanliness was not up to scratch. There were coffee drips around the coffee machine which meant the bench hadn’t been wiped properly - the mirrors in bathroom were so smeared I had to wipe it over and we only got allocated 2 towels even know I paid for 4 guests.

The good: Great location with a short walk to beach and cafes. Tram stop out front to head into Melbourne city. Clean and tasteful decor. Secure parking. Price. Light breakfast.
The bad: Collecting keys from different location that had limited signage at footpath level. Bed is made up of two singles pushed together with lumpy middle.

The room I had stayed in’s shower leaked onto the bathroom floor and not very good pressure or steady temp, dirty kettle filter and old water left in it while it had been stored away in a cupboard, water was also left in the coffee pod machine from before our stay. There was no fly screen on the window so couldn’t have it open without bugs flying in aswell as the heater/cooler having an odd smell when turned on. Other than this is was in a nice area and comfy bed. Overall wouldn’t recommend staying again.

FALSELY ADVERTISED. Arrived Saturday 1pm and nobody around. Find booking, find phone number and THEN found out YOU HAVE TO DRIVE TO ANOTHER HOTEL TO PICK UP THE KEYS!! Find other hotel, find parking, queue in other hotel to get the keys and long list of instructions which include \" Don't get your car stuck in the parking without your key because there's nobody working at the hotel so it could take hours to get you out\". God forbid there is a fire at this property and the first car out of the gates gets stuck. All of this information is hidden in the small print that one should not be obligated to read every time you book accomodation. The apart-hotel itself was clean and convenient to everything in the area. It also had a really nice kitchen area with everything you could ask for during a short stay. It is just a pity that the owners are not letting people know about the the lengths they will need to go to just to get into their room.

There little things were fabulous (bread,milk & juice in the fridge), however the entire apartment had a very overwhelming smell of stale cigarette. Now I am a recent ex smoker, and it was so overpowering. I had to open the windows and leave the door open for most of our stay. The property was clean, but there were stains on the carpet and walls, could do with a repaint and upgrade. Also booked for 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) but only 2 beds were made up, the sofa bed was not. Overall, the place is in the perfect location, close to everything in St Kilda. Check in was a super easy process and the room was ok, but certainly room for improvement.

My single room was pretty small. Had a bit of a Smokey scent to it like someone had been smoking in the room previously. Bed was pretty comfy. The property is quite tightly packed so I think noise would be a problem if you got a rowdy bunch staying in a nearby room. I didn’t have any troubles though.

Because the hotel isn't manned and the staff are at the sister property when our neighbours were playing music till 3am in the morning nothing could be done about it, even calling the sister property through the night advising them did nothing.
Even at check out the next day nothing was done, just an apology.
