This stay was a step above a backpackers. The cleanliness was below average, the service of the rooms was basically a touch up vacuum and a new toilet roll. I had to ask for my rubbish to be emptied. I ran out of hot water half-way through a shower on day 3. The room was dated, and not as pictured. The kitchenette on my floor (which I thought would be in my room) seriously lacked ammenities, and the ground floor kitchenette didn’t open until 10am and was always closed when I needed something. I wouldn’t stay here if you were hoping to self-cater, and I won’t stay again.

Perfect location for a tradeshow

Perfect for our 5 day tradeshow at the convention centre.

Big rooms, very big bathroom with decent hot water and easy parking within walking distance of the fair (only on the weekends is it all day parking which seems to be the norm in Melbourne).

Area is quiet and not traffic jammed

Had to change room as Air Conditioning was making very loud noises. Rooms very cold on arrival. AC too small for space and struggles to heat the space. Kettle plugged into power board with fridge. Lead not long enough so kettle balances on edge of bench. No chair to sit in.

“Kitchen” on each floor. Dishwasher full of dirty dishes - no detergent tablets. Also toaster, microwave and kettle.

The bathroom was updated and very spacious, great shower. Just a little dark so putting on make-up or seeing details on the face was difficult - maybe they could look to improve the bathroom task-lighting when they next get around to any alterations/updates in future. Overall very positive experience. Parking was also a breeze.

Great location with city views. The staff were really friendly, we were given a free room upgrade which was a nice surprise. Basic but nice breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals ect. We enjoyed our stay.

Reception was closed on arrival which was during the day but someone came in to help with check in. Disappointed that the booking stated breakfast was included which was one reason for choosing this hotel but was told no breakfast during the week. Room is quite small but clean. Would call it more a shared accommodation situation than hotel - did not see any staff the whole time. Noisy with doors constantly being opened and closed loudly, particularly if sleeping in a room above the exit doors. Adequate for the price and convenient location open space, lightrail, markets etc.

Breakfast was only weekends which was misleading when I made the booking. Staff was late one morning and arrived at 10am instead of the stated 9am for staffed hours. It didn't affect me but affected another patron who required some help but couldn't do anything until they arrived.

Finding parking on the street can be iffy.
The room is comfortable, but a bit cramped.

Our stay was good and staff friendly and helpful ! Facilities could be updated some ! The mattress and pillows were a bit old and needed updating ! Hand soap a cheap pump pack that was basically empty ! Towel was broken! Just small things ! The shower was good and hot ! Overal slept ok ! Was still an enjoyable stay ! When I booked it said free parking at the premises!
Was on street parking that had to pay for 2 hours!
Had to pay a deposit $100 which is going to be refunded?
Was only shown stairs to the room level !
Had to report poor quality of television service!

Good hotel, very quiet except the metallic stairs and elevator. The metallic stairs are very noisy and loudly resonate when people use it. The elevator rings every time it gets to request floor, which is useless and pretty annoying. Those noises can be heard from the room and hear plugs are necessary in evening and morning if you want to sleep

We a good stay at Lily Sands. Very good location. Unfortunately, the TV did not work, the Air-conditioner made a huge noise and the shower curtain was not sufficient to keep the bathroom floor dry.

It started raining during the night, which caused the tree next to the window to slam it's branches onto the walls and window f the building. Very scary noise. Did not sleep well.

It was a friendly greeting from the staff member who was quite helpful. The room was adequate for our stay and the bathroom was clean and the shower was excellent. The only problem was that there was nowhere to sit apart from the bed. This made eating very hard. I know it was a small room but just having even a couple of folding chairs would have been nice so you could sit and have a nice cuppa. In all it was pretty comfortable.

Heard someone (staff) complaining outside my room about a customer storing luggage and leaving. Profanity was used loudly. Then heavy metal music continued to be played loudly while I was trying to get some sleep. Was between 9-11am but still expected a quiet place to be able to rest peacefully.

The location was great 😊 but the parking wasn’t. The guest house has NO private parking.

Stayed for 1 week and didn’t get one decent nights sleep. We had the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, felt every spring & it was only a double size you couldn’t hang over the edge as it had very sturdy steel side supports. In addition to this we heard people coming & going all night up & down the steel staircase like baby elephants & every door SLAMMED shut.
Whilst the place was very clean the cleaner was loud eg music playing singing loudly & swearing for all to hear. Certainly not discreet by any means.
I would not recommend this place until these issues have been resolved.

No parking other than on street. The website didn’t mention parking but a photo on the website more or less illustrated it. Rat/mouse poison in the room, Rc air conditioner didn’t work. I needed a microwave for medical reasons and was told this would be additional $10 per day.
Despite site indicating staffed from 8 am till 6 I think but there wasn’t anyone there for the 2 1/2 hours I was on the site. I was in the room for 2 hours.

Entire top floor stank of cigarette smoke. We left a \"please tidy my room\" sign on the door for 3 days but it never got serviced and towels were never changed. The room next door was up most of the night, coming in/out up/down the stairs every 20 minutes - who is in/out multiple at 2AM, 3AM, 4AM? Definitely dodgy. And the lift didn't work half the time, so my wife and I had to carry the pram up and down the stair for 3 days.
Otherwise a great place.... to avoid. Will not stay there again.

Unclean, hair in shower drain, urine stains on toilet seat, rubbish under the bed and bedside tables, drawers and cupboards unclean, half bottle of water in the fridge, fridge unclean, stick surfaces and obvious food stains, thick and shout-outs stain on the carpet The linen was clean and the bed was comfortable. Arrived late after packing up our home. Booked for 2 nights, stayed for one. Highly recommend that you don’t stay at this hotel. Shared kitchen full of clutter, didn’t use. Laundry backs under the stairs at the entrance.

Parking from 6pm -8am was free really get outside our building between 8am -6pm was two hourly parking via the app which was easy to use and quite economical. Our room had brand. We features such as bed/bedding carpet and the bathroom was brand new and wheelchair friendly which given the shower space was cooler than an enclosed shower. An elevator was handy given stairs were the favoured option. A shared microwave and sink were available for our floor to use. Wine glasses and water glasses would have been a bonus in the room but coffee facilities and fridge were great with fridge being larger than the normal bar fridge size available in most expensive hotel rooms. Travel to crown was walking distance. A few great local pubs available within minutes for dinner if not wanting to hit the town. Local restaurants and Dothan Melbourne market a quick drive or leisurely walk ( which we did with our 26 year old With bottle shop on the return trip ). A quick drive into the city for local attractions was also handy we visited Lygon St, Imax The and Melbourne Zoo all by car and used the app for parking quite cheaply with the longest car trip 30 mins due to roadworks in peak traffic otherwise 10 mins from Lygon st with dinner in hand. We would stay again

No reception available to check into or to ask questions. Lobby was locked with a sign stating that reception is momentarily closed - reception was closed our entire stay.
There was no milk in the fridge for tea or coffee, with a note in the room that milk was available in the lobby - with was locked our entire stay.

We Liked the proximity to South Melbourne facilities, just a couple blocks away from where I had to go for a work conference, easy walking, also not far from South Melbourne markets, again 10 minute walk. As it's a couple blocks away, is still close, yet very quiet, we were able to leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air and breeze rather than the air con. Trams are also only a couple blocks away, so easy access... and for the motor enthusiasts, albert park, where the grand prix is is literally at the end of the street... Our room was actually wheelchair friendly, not that we required it, but excellent that they cater for those who do, my only qualm would be the mirror in the bathroom need to be bigger, so a person standing can also use it as everything is a bit lower to cater for the person sitting in a wheel chair... if the mirror was bigger it wouldn't matter if you were tall or short, we did have to duck down which was a bit inconvenient when applying make up etc, a bench in the bathroom for toiletries would help also. But very clean and had a lovely time in Melbourne

Lily Sands Inn exceeded our expectations, especially for the great price. We checked in late and out early due to a long trip and early departure on the Spirit of Tasmania, but the instructions from Lily Sands were timely and friendly, and our self-check in/out were seamless. We were upgraded to a room on the top floor which was really comfortable and beautifully put together, with a cool view of the city skyline. We will definitely be back.
