This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, so much so that I left my reservation early. The rooms smell musty/moldy, the bed is absolutely terrible, the lights/doors/fan only occasionally worked. The shower curtains were so cheap that the bathroom flooded when I showered. This hotel needs serious improvements.

I will stay, the staff is very friendly and the location is great. That is about all it has going for it.

The hotel is very well located, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. However, if you have a car, be aware that there is no parking nearby and it is impossible to stop in front of the hotel to unload your luggage. The welcome was impeccable and the room was clean. The hotel is old and poorly maintained. The spring mattress is very uncomfortable and the pillow is so thin it's like not having one at all. The sink and shower drained slowly and there was no soundproofing. If you are looking for a well-located, clean and inexpensive place to stay and comfort is not a priority for you, this place will do. If not, you should explore other options

Great location and a great stay! Rooftop patio is a perfect spot to sit in the evenings as the sun sets, you can lookout over the bay and fishing wharves.
Definitely would recommend, it’s a quiet location, but close to everything!

Location is the star of this hotel, restaurant, supermarket, marina, shopping all within 10 mins walk. The front desk staff David is excellent, very patient, helpful. The hotel is dated with no vent in the bathroom needs to put into consideration. But over all is very nice to have short stay in Lagos

All round this is a very pleasant place to stay, all the more so thanks to the wonderful staff. In particular the knowledgeable and welcoming guys, Hernane and David, on the reception. The rooftop balcony is delightful and offers spectacular views of the city and its marina.
For sure some people will have a moan that some of the furnishings are outdated, but personally I consider this adds to the character and charm of the hotel.
The main square is literally only a couple of minutes away with an abundance of shops and excellent cafes.

I enjoyed my stay at the Lagosmar. Hernani at the front desk made my stay what is was. He is exceptional, professional, friendly, helpful and above all caring. I loved the terrace, a beautiful space to relax and the best place to be for sunset. Hernani helped me with extending my stay, he had great information on where to go and what to do and made being there so easy. Thanks

This is a charming older hotel and retains a sense of class. The staff is really amazing and they make you feel very special. Don’t expect pillow top beds or rain fall shower heads - it’s definitely an older property but it has good sized, clean rooms with large closets. There’s a lovely roof top sitting area with an amazing view. It’s tricky to get to with a car - no parking or even a pull out for checking in - so if you really need a car to be close to you this isn’t your place - but otherwise this hotel is quaint and in an excellent location.

I don’t know why this hotel has good reviews. I booked this because of the reviews and the cleanliness but when we got there I was so disappointed. It really changed my mood on our stay at Lagos.
This place was old and definitely needs a renovation. There was a musty smell in the room. I could tell the moment we went inside that the place was dirty. The toilet, it was so dated, the sink faucet was loose when you needed to turn on faucet, towel rack was coming off the wall and hair dryer not working. Had to borrow from reception for the portable. The beds, gross!!! It had a few hair on it by the pillow on both beds and the end of the bed has shoe mark. Personally, I do not think the sheets were replaced. Disgusting and dirty!!!The tv plug was not working and you cannot plug the tv. Hence we cannot watch anything at night. Thank God we only stay for two nights there, I was so disgusted with the place. Overall, the only good this about this place it the location. Everything else it’s terrible. I didn’t care so much of being dated but I cared about the cleanliness and this place was not.

Decent property. Front of desk was the highlight - the gentleman who checked us in was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is located in a really nice spot, close to all the restaurants and the main squares in area.
Be aware that the property does not have any private parking or street parking. The hotel could also use a decor upgrade but other than everything is decent.

Let me begin by saying that after going to Athens, Paris, Madrid, Santorini, Mykonos, Hydra, Venice and Florence, Portugal—particularly the Algarve—is the best area I’ve ever visited. The people, the culture, the food, the beaches—I really would love to live here if possible. The hotel where we stayed was Lagosmar. What a wonderful place! All the desk clerks were fabulous, particularly Luana. I have never met a staff member at a hotel so kind, friendly and empathetic. I wanted to give my wife a beautiful last day and she suggested a beach a few minutes out of town. She made me look like a hero! My wife was so thrilled, she cried happy tears.

The only positive for this hotel was the location. Everything else severely underwhelmed.
-Beds were extremely uncomfortable
-No shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided; only a wall mounted squirt bottle of cheap soap
-NOISE! You hear everything through the walls and the layout makes it so that you hear everyone arriving at all hours
-Safe: old school, non-electronic safe for which you had to pay a deposit to get the locking mechanism and key
-No iron available in the building, whatsoever

We are a bit surprised by previous positive reviews. We stayed in four different hotels in three cities in Portugal on this trip. This hotel was the most expensive of all four, but do pay attention to the star rating (2 stars), as we had at least three stars for all others and the difference very clearly showed.

I really enjoyed my stay here, the accommodation was basic but that's what I expected for the price. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast perfect. And the location was absolutely ideal, which was the main thing I was looking for, being a solo female traveller I needed to be close enough enough to everything.
They also had a lovely rooftop terrace where you could take up your own food and drink and enjoy the view.
The only small thing I would say could be improved, was the balcony was not cleaned once while I was there and wasn't clean when I arrived. It's a shame because you get quite a big area with table, chairs and sun loungers but felt I couldn't make use of them.
Other than that everything else was great and I'd definitely recommend it.

As a solo female traveller, this hotel was perfect! Amazing location, lovely staff, I felt very safe. The breakfast was lovely and the room was clean and simple, everything you need (aside from a mini fridge). I would definitely stay here for longer, great price for a simple, pleasant hotel!

I stayed 7 nights here and I was very comfortable. The hotel though dated is extremely clean. The reception staff are so friendly and helpful. Located in old town and close to the marina. My room was spacious and light. I loved the patio doors in my room overlooking the street below. The info stated a locker was available which there is but you need to leave a €20 cash deposit for the lock & key. The shower pressure and temperature were all good. The roof terrace with views of the beach and marina was great. Though there were no umbrellas so during the day it was far too hot to sit up there and enjoy the view. I would definitely come back and stay here again.

Perfectly located in the centre of the town, the front desk staff were very helpful and suggested some great restaurants and cafes. Would highly recommend staying here. The only issue was that there wasn't a mini fridge in the room, so you couldn't buy food for beach days. The rest of the hotel components were amazing. The hotel and room was a bit out-dated but it was clean and the beds were firm which is our preference.

Great location in city center where all the shops and restaurants are. Staff super friendly & helpful. Stroll to the Marina. Beaches are a bit further but we used it to our advantage by stopping to purchase sandwiches and do window shopping along the way.

J’avais réservé une chambre avec terrasse, la terrasse est superbe pour profiter des apéros et relaxer.

Il serait un gros avantage d’inclure un mini-frigo dans les chambres avec terrasse pour pouvoir y conserver les merveilleux produits que nous pouvons acheter dans les alentours.

Nous avons eu un super séjour, je recommande les chambres avec terrasse.

We had checked out at noon and I called back about an hour later asking if they could check the room for a hoodie I thought I had left. They said they would check the room for me. I called back and they confirmed it wasn’t there. I then got a message around 5:00 pm. Saying my iPads had been left. Unfortunately I was already in Faro. It’s nice that they reached out to me just unfortunate it wasn’t noticed until later

The location of this property was smazing. Right in the heart of the old town. On a tiny little street barely wide enough for a car. There is no where to park at all. Cant even stop to drop luggage. Parking can be found, underground, not far on tge nain strip.

The young man at the front desk was great. English was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful.

The rooms were old and tight. No room for suitcases toiletries etc. Carpets old and worn. Didnt know bathroom fixtures came in that colir brown.

Would recommend as long as lication is most important.

Very, very outdated. Carpets have what looks to be generations of set-in stains and dirt. Walls are SO thin - I could hear my neighbor brushing his teeth, gagging while brushing his tongue, and using the bathroom. I guess this is common. Could use some serious renovations - it doesn’t need to be fancy, but just some updates would do the place good. It’s very 80s. Otherwise, staff was friendly and the location is an easy walk in to the town.

The Hotel is a basic “no frills“ place to lay your head. It is clean but doesn’t have modern day comforts such as a refrigerator,Coffee maker or great bedding. However, you need to remember that the price and location may outweigh these wants. Staff are wonderful! Rooftop patio was closed for repairs. If that is important to you then you may want to contact the Hotel before booking.

Excellent central value hotel!

Another very enjoyable stay at the Lagosmar! Staff all very friendly, professional and welcoming in this central, little hotel. Minutes walk from everywhere, the marina, the beaches, the train & bus stations and dozens of restaurants in this charming town. An older building but well maintained and very good value. Thank you again for your hospitality! Hopefully, return next year!

Patricia at the front desk was amazing she was incredibly helpful this woman deserves a raise. I fell off the bike I rented and when I got back to the hotel to relax she offered to clean my wounds she went and got iodine and ice very kind compassionate person that’s who you want working for you. The young man with the glasses was also very kind and helpful. Lovely stay ty will definitely come back

Second time staying here, this time our double bed was two tired single beds pushed together. We managed but it wasn’t great. We also paid a little more for the bigger room and balcony but we assumed it would have the top floor with better view like before but instead we had a balcony backed on to others on the ground floor facing a brick wall with no morning sunlight which we were hoping for. We will certainly come back again but just confirm our room before we do so.

This is a nice older property that has been meticulously kept with a few decor updates. Staff are lovey and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are decent size. Too bad the bed was firm as a board, there is no mini fridge or working safe in the room. The coffee/tea wasn’t replenished after the first day. Also, they really need to accommodate today’s traveller with USB or at least some plug ins for recharging devices.
It’s a perfect location in Lagos so need need for a car! You can walk to all the wonderful restaurants and shops as well as marina, bus and train stations easily. It was a very pleasant 3 nights.
