The Carvi was great hotel with its beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and proximity to Lagos Old Town. It had a wonderful roof top pool and included a nice breakfast each morning. Also next to the hotel was a fantastic boardwalk/walking trail overlooking the beaches. Would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was fresh and changed each day with a great view each morning as we sat outside on the rooftop. Beautiful beach is 2 minute walk away, Rooftop pool was a great way to relax. Rooms cleaned each day with fresh towels. Able to do our own laundry by hand and hang the clothes to dry on the balcany.

This location was perfect for us. It has direct assess to Praia Dona Ana which was a great place to hang out and enjoy the surrounding. In the evening we would walk (about a 20 min walk) to Old Town. Breakfast was great, lots of variety. I would stay here again when I visit Lagos!

Came to Portugal for our honeymoon, we booked this hotel primarily for the location- stayed here for 10 nights, loved how close it was to the beach and a walk into downtown Lagos for food.
Our overall experience was okay, some things I didn’t like was we had to pay for towels to borrow then got our deposit back once we returned the towels. Well one of our towels dropped on the balcony below us from the wind (we could see it) and when we told the front desk they said they make a note of it but we never ended up getting our deposit back for it…
Hotel rooms were not cleaned everyday and at weird times. Beds were made almost everyday but not fresh sheets (I know this because there was sand in my bed which wouldn’t have happened if they were fresh) not the end of the world but unusual for a hotel in my experience traveling.
There was one day / night where the entire 4th floor (where our room was) had no wifi.
To the right of the hotel is a beautiful beach, to the left is a run down hotel that the cartel took over. We always walked towards the right and avoided the left when going downtown.
Overall we would book this hotel again primarily to be close to the beach and walking trails.
Breakfast included was good.

€200+/night for mold, fake eggs, and hostile service? Absolutely not.
I’ve stayed in 40+ hotels across Europe and North America. Carvi Hotel was one of the worst price-to-quality ratios I’ve encountered. I rarely leave reviews, but this experienced left me with no choice but to WARN other travellers.
The reality doesn’t match the photos. Our room had visible mold and rust in the shower, no bathroom ventilation, and filthy AC filters. By day three we were both feeling sick and checked out early.
The breakfast was inedible. Eggs bulked with filler, instant coffee pretending to be fresh, sugary water instead of juice. We both got stomach aches. At this price, it’s insulting.
Service was dismissive to hostile. One staff member was great. The rest gave eye rolls for simple requests like beach towels or purchasing a drink. We felt unwelcome from start to finish.
Common areas reeked of industrial cleaner — more hospital than hotel.
When I tried speaking with management, I was told no one was on-site and to “contact Expedia.” We’d booked four nights but left after three.
To the owner: We saved for months for this trip. Your hotel didn’t just disappoint us — it soured our impression of Portugal. At over €200/night, travellers expect clean rooms, edible food, and basic respect. You’re currently failing on all three. Wake up.
This isn’t personal — it’s a fair warning to other travellers.

We specifically picked this hotel as it advertised parking. On our very first day there we left to do laundry in our rental car and returned at 11am only to circle the parking lot for at least a half hour. If you plan on staying here don’t bring a car. The hotel is attached to a very popular public beach and nothing is available until late at night. Staff were rude when we asked if we could parking in the empty spots designated out front (see picture). On our second day we told the from desk that our shower leaked from the hand attachment and after 5 days no one came to fix it. The shower pressure was definitely an issue. They had problems with plumbing as we could hear the sink gurgle when you flushed the toilet and all they the night you could still hear this. Towel deposit for the beach was 20 euros cash and staff would not even give you an extra towel. Although the beach and walking paths are close just stay somewhere else and take the $4.50 train trolley that stops right there. Pictures make the hotel look new but it is far from that, infact there is a large derelict building with graffiti all over it next door.

Room was clean and comfortable. However, I was on the third floor, right below the restaurant and I could hear everything while it was open. Since 8am to after closing. I could hear all the chairs moving while they were cleaning. If you stay there try to get another floor, maybe. The place is excellent and in a great location.

Carvi Beach Hotel was a pretty good stay overall for what the property offers. The location is excellent, close to the beach and within walking distance of Point-of-Rocks. The rooms were clean and comfortable enough for the price point.

That said, there are some important things to know:

Strict Room Policy: Nothing is allowed to be taken to your room — not even a cup of coffee. This felt unnecessarily restrictive.

Towel Policy: The hotel has a strict 3-day rule for beach/pool towel exchange. Only on the third day can you swap for fresh towels. Even if your towel is dirty, sandy, or covered in mud, you won’t get a new one until day three. I understand the eco-conscious effort, but really — even a Motel 6 would hand you a fresh towel if you asked.

Breakfast: Mediocre at best. Powdered eggs, undercooked bacon, and a very limited selection. It did not compare well with the breakfasts we enjoyed elsewhere in Portugal, where the variety and quality were much higher.

If you go in with the right expectations — basic accommodations, good location, but limited amenities and service policies — it’s fine. But don’t expect flexibility or a quality breakfast experience.

The room was smaller than we expected , bathrooms are very small so if you want to hang in the room probably not the best place to stay. Location to the beach and Lagos cliffs was amazing Easy parking but if it were summer it definitely would be an issue. The hotel has no parking you share with public beach . It is close to the beach and great restaurants nearby.

When we initially arrived we were set up in our room category which did not have an ocean view (as booked) but as we were only there two nights, Carlos at the front desk assisted us in doing an upgrade the second night to a wonderful corner suite, with great views! Not only is this hotel incredibly well located for beach access, but having an ocean front room (albeit “side view”) was really lovely to have at the beginning and end of a long and relaxing beach day. The staff was all very friendly, and the hotel is walkable to the popular restaurant areas (20 min). Would absolutely recommend when staying in Lagos!

Love the staff. They are so brilliant. Rooms clean but need a bit of updating. Rusty round the edges of the mirrors in the bathroom and a bit yellow around the edges of the shower. The bed was super duper comfy and very big! Think it would be a good idea to have the bar downstairs open so we could have a beer while playing pool. Also it might be an idea to have a bit of cover at the pool bar both for shade and also when it is raining

Worst place we’ve stayed. Check-in staff was rude and cold! One key, one water, billiard table for 50 euro deposit. 10 euro deposit for pool towels. You cannot take your own water to the pool. There’s a restaurant you have to make reservations for and no information how to. The bar they claim is a small hut by the pool. We took a picture of the rules at the check-in desk. Next door is a monstrous abandoned building. The only benefit is proximity to the beach.Rating is 4 star but I have no clue how. Price was expensive. Service was horrific. Wallpaper was peeling, a hair on the bathroom floor, rotted wood in the closet.

Perfect spot to stay in Lagos. We rented a car and drove from Lisbon. There is a public parking lot in front of the hotel. Praia Dona Ana beach is a 3 min walk and you have the entire trail (boardwalk) to see all the famous beaches and cliffs. To get to the town center, it’s a max 20 min walk on the trail along the coast…beautiful walk. It’s all boardwalk so none of the trails are rough. Our room was perfect for 2 people but we did upgrade to a larger room, the view was amazing. Breakfast buffet was ok (fine if you’re just looking for coffee and a croissant). There isn’t much in terms of shopping/markets right in the area. The beach has a beach bar/restaurant (food was ok, cocktails are good, mainly go here if you want sun beds 25 euro for 2). Or, the beach is public and you can setup with an umbrella.

The hotel is okay. We rented 3 rooms and perhaps if we were on a different floor, I would have liked it more.

Pros:
Location is right next to the beach. It is close enough to other beaches as well as being about 15 minutes from downtown Lagos which has so many restaurants.

Cons:
No coffee machine in the room and breakfast does not begin until 8 am. The convince stores around there are cash only.

Overall, stay was fine. Parking is a mess and the staff don’t care to assist with it. They rent towels for a 10EU deposit- cash only, but you can only change them every 3 days (not what they told us initially). Breakfast was fine, coffee is awful. Beach is so packed as Camilo beach was covered in seaweed. The beach area smelled like sewage. The location is fine if you don’t plan to leave it but not the most walkable location if you do. Pool was fine- nice views.

I stayed at Carvi Beach Hotel recently, and while the location is beautiful and a few staff members were truly outstanding, my overall experience was unfortunately marred by poor management.

During my stay, I had an issue with towels that was handled unprofessionally by the manager, Silvia. Instead of resolving the matter with basic courtesy and hospitality, she was dismissive and unhelpful, making me feel more like an inconvenience than a valued guest. This was extremely disappointing, especially in a service-based industry where guest comfort should be the priority.

That said, I want to highlight two staff members who went above and beyond: Carlos and Bohart. Both were genuinely kind, attentive, and made every effort to make my stay more comfortable. Their warmth and professionalism stood in stark contrast to my experience with management and are the only reason I would consider giving this hotel another chance.

The hotel itself has potential — great location, decent facilities — but unfortunately, poor leadership can overshadow even the best views. My hope is that management addresses these issues so that future guests are treated with the respect and hospitality they deserve.

Do not stay here. Pictures are very deceiving. The pool is old and looks nothing like the blue pool in the pictures. The balcony is dirty with 2 plastic chairs. When we arrived at the hotel, our balcony door was wide open allowing lots of bugs into the room. We were on the first floor and there was only a very small latch between the balcony doors and the parking lot. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls. The shower floods the bathroom and they refuse to give you more towels. They charge for towels and even forks/knives/spoons/napkins. Hotel staff is very rude. The AC is in old units and are very loud. The bed was moist. You have to put down cash to even use the pool table. We left the property and stayed in another hotel.

O hotel é muito bem localizado, muito embora não tenha estacionamento próprio, há vagas gratuitas em frente. Recepção solicita e eficiente. Café da manhã delicioso, com vários itens sempre frescos, frutas, pães, e frios. Quarto com varanda, chuveiro potente, cama confortável,e roupas de cama e banho novas e perfumadas. Fui por recomendação do meu filho e nora, e eu mesma recomendo a estadia no CARVI.

I accidentally booked the wrong dates for this property ( same dates wrong month) and reached out immediately to request a date change. Despite multiple polite attempts to explain the situation well in advance, the property declined to assist in any way.

Even after Expedia contacted the hotel twice on our behalf, they still refused to help or offer any flexibility. We were not asking for a refund — just to adjust the dates — and the room was never used. The lack of empathy and customer support was disappointing and frustrating.

If you’re considering staying here, just be aware that in the event of an honest mistake or issue, you may not receive any support or consideration from the property.

We stayed at the Carvi Hotel. Everyone was very pleasant, it was EXTREMELY clean. It is great location on the beach and close to everything. The hotel next store looks like a war zone and I will not lie when we first passed by it I was like OMG where did I book us, even though I read reviews that explained it I still was taking back, but the Car I Hotel was nice and the most important thing I wanted was that it was clean and comfortable and it was. I definitely would stay there again

We had a good stay at the hotel, we were family of 3 and it was relatively good location - cheap to uber into town and beach was very handy. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was great. What let it down was the room we had - it didn't have a view, which I understand not all rooms can, and on the plus side was quiet and most probably cooler than those on the sea view side. However the room which had 2 rooms with 4 single beds, I assume would be for family but had no extra comforts, there was no where to sit inside other than on beds, and if you were staying as family, although there was 2 rooms there were no doors and a gap at the top of wall meaning light / noise got through. Also our room had ants in it which they were going to look at when we left.

Carvi Beach Hotel was a great experience! Amazing location, clean facilities, and a really great breakfast that is included each morning. The views from the rooftop dining are incredible. It’s a 15 minute stroll to all the bars and restaurants in City Centre. I would definitely stay there again. Great for families and couples.

Good location, close to the beach and walkable to Old Town. Rooms were clean, extra large balcony and excellent service from all the staff. If you are looking to hire a car during your stay, you can do it through the hotel, very reasonable price and car was dropped off and picked off at the hotel.

Our stay was for 4 nights, Mother and Daughter trip! We loved the room, we had an awesome view because we stayed on the 3rd floor with an awesome view from our bedroom, not to mention the outside space on the balcony! Hiking trail was so close, beach was close as well, the restaurant on site was very nice, we would definitely recommend this hotel

There was good breakfast every day. Very close to beach for ease at Praia Donna Ana. We rented a car to travel to other areas and found a spot every evening but it’s not hotel dedicated. It will probably be busier in later summer. We did not try the restaurant or pool but looked like great options from our walk through. We wanted to be down at the gorgeous beach. There is a bus stop nearby #2 AONDA and a small store below that was convenient for water and snacks. 15-20 minute walk into Lagos. The family room we had was dated and a bit odd with no doors. Beds were comfy. AC and elevator worked well. Beautiful lobby. Rented towels but had to dry them daily on the patio rack overnight. We should have brought it inside for AC to help dry as dew made them damp. We had a great stay!
