Now catering for my unique dietary requirements is always painful for most accommodation, I don’t eat garlic, shallots, chives and asafoetida. Surprisingly, the breakfast buffet provided by Mellow Fields had too many suitable options to pick from. For this reason alone, I will stay with it again. The facilities were pretty aged and room layout was not the best in the industry, particularly if you were expecting an Instagram-friendly place. But I slept well while at Mellow Fields and I was a light sleeper, this aspect beat many other places of similar pricing.

For the price, Mellow Fields was an excellent choice to get around the Shilin District conveniently. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. However, the place may need to work on its cleanliness: There were moldy spots in the bathroom and dusty corners in our room. Several bathroom tiles were chipped and the caulking was wearing off. There was a random construction box sitting on the balcony floor when we first walked in. The hotel lobby is spacious but, again, for the price you pay, don't expect anything beyond necessities. During our stay, we often saw and heard a maintenance crew working on the hotel ceiling. And yes, that was during the day when guests were casually lounging in the lobby. I'd come back for the price if I just needed a place to be in and out, but, otherwise, I would rather pay more for somewhere nicer.

We had a very pleasant stay. The kitchen staff worked hard and was very friendly. However, it would be nicer if they could keep the hot breakfast items hot or warm, since they had the facilities available. Also the carpet in the hallway was a bit old. Love the neighborhood the hotel is located in. It's quiet and feels up-market. Free underground parking and decent buffet breakfast. The gym looked awesome but I was too tired to use it. There is also some restaurants and bar that open till late, and a Carrefour located in the same building as the hotel.

This is a very nice hotel and also an excellent value. Although it’s not centrally located in Taipei, I found it very easy to get to and from the hotel via mass transit. Also it was a great jumping-off place to get to hiking trails in Yangmingshan National Park. I just jumped in a taxi and was there in minutes. Mellow Fields was a very pleasant surprise!

Mellow Field Hotel was by far the most comfortable hotel with the similar price rage that we stayed in Tienmu area. We liked the balcony so we can step out of our room and enjoyed the mountain view and fresh air. The Chinese/Taiwanese breakfast buffet was delicious. A simple salad bar and bread with butter & jam were also provided. The only disappointment is that the gym was open between 3 pm and 8 pm, not a 24-hour facility. We preferred to go to the gym in the morning and we were out sightseeing during the day. The operating hours of the gym was not practical. But overall, we were satisfied with our stay.

Checkin was smooth and easy. The room had uneven floors and flying bugs in the bathroom. The “king” bed was two singles pushed together with a hard edge in the middle. They gave you 1 pillow each and they smelled bad and were not comfortable.

The wall between rooms is thin. We can hear noise from neighbor rooms. Wish the sound insulation could be better. Other than that, everything is fine and we enjoyed a lot.

It is an old hotel and thus some renovation will be appreciated. However, we do appreciate the details that the hotel looks into to make us as comfortable as possible - towels, toothbrush, good shower facilities, comfortable bed, etc - were provided. We appreciated the approachable service staff too. Definitely not a hotel about luxury, but the basics are well taken care of and pretty comfortable. Hotel is also next to a supermarket and within walking distance to the restaurants and shopping malls. Thus I would say the location is pretty good.

I booked this Hotel since I had an appointment near that location. Other than that, there is not much to do/shop/dine in the vicinity of the hotel. It was a bit strange that there was no safe in the Room to store your passport or valuables so I had to carry them around with me all the time which was not so convenient. Room itself was clean and spacious enough.
The breakfast was a bit of a letdown. I had to wait until they restocked plates and cups and cutlery. When they had restocked some of it, the food selection certainly targeted Asian customers rather then western clients. In the end I had a hard boiled egg a slice of toast and a coffee (without milk). Orange Juice was out, when they refilled it the juice was out again after 2 minutes. Next day I skipped breakfast all along and had a noodle soup somewhere else.
Probably will look for other options next time around.

Visiting family members nearby so it was very convenient for me. However its location is not really suitable for tourists. The twin bed is quite small, I almost fell off the bed when sleeping. Breakfast was disappointing lacking proper meat items like bacon, ham or sausage. I think the hotel insist on serving healthy food so there were lots of organic veggies but no decent meat product. Coffee was really awful but thank goodness there is a Seven Eleven nearby which served decent coffee.

This is our second visit to Mellow Fields. We loved our room; it is a comfortable size and clean. The air-conditioning on hot nights was fantastic. Daily housekeeping was great as well. We really appreciated what a thorough job they have been doing each day - amenities are nice. My partner really enjoys the breakfasts and how there is such variety but an emphasis on supporting organic, local and sustainable food sources from fishermen and farmers. Way to go!

This time is the third time I rented this hotel for 4 days, 3 nights since Sep 2016. As usual, overall service is nice and good. I like the breakfast much with variety of local food, and sometimes with organic vegetable because it is built and run by a farm organisation in Taiwan. Bus station is right outside of the hotel; therefore, it's very convenient to get in and out of the area and to the MRT station. We like the quiet residential neighborhood, even though the traffic noise could be loud during the rush hours. We had a dinner at its restaurant and the food was delicious. We especially enjoy the complementary breakfast buffet. The breakfast's produces and fruits are coming local farms. They cook variety of dishes that are so delicious, simple and healthy; we don't find them in California's Chinese restaurants.

Some places have an energy. You can feel an eagerness to improve and change. This place feels like management needs to be trained itself. You get the feeling once the newness wears off, it's new, it'll be on a long decline. It's already getting dirty in places you'd think they want to preserve, like the lobby. But above all it feels like the staff are under training all the time. I've stayed 3 times already out of need and necessity. What annoys me most are the calls at about 30 minutes before 12 reminding you to check out of you'll be charged. No matter how nice the person is on the phone threats are annoying.
