I loved my stay. The property is wonderful and clean, and the bed was so comfortable. The service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, helpful and focused on service. Jason gave us a great introduction to our room and an overview of the amenities. He is super knowledgeable and funny. Fantastic hotel and highly recommended.

Breakfast service was the worst I ever experienced all 80 percent of food was empty and ran out and staff did not do thwir jobs tp make sure food did not run out. Horrible service for over priced stay. Ruin my vacation. Upper management needs to address and fix this problem or else no one will want to stay at this hotel.

Beautiful traditional Japanese style hotel with helpful multilingual staff. Delicious buffet breakfast with mostly authentic Japanese dishes although they did try to cater to Western tastes. Shuttle service to the station was very useful. Hot spring was onsite but no swimsuits allowed but no one mentioned it, no written instructions and so I got yelled at! Another disappointment which we didn’t realise was that the restaurant was closed so there wasn’t anything to eat all day when we got there. But apart from that I would recommend this place if you want the traditional Japanese experience (including sleeping on futon and dressing in Japanese kimono) without going to Japan. There’s also lovely Japanese gardens and interesting museum nearby about the history of the local hot springs.

Beautiful Japanese onsen experience

This is such a luxurious place to stay if you love the Japanese tatami room experience! Even though the hotel is right in the middle of Beitou, right next to the lovely Beitou Park, they do a magnificent job of making you feel you're in the middle of a forest somewhere, far from the city, when you're indoors. I loved having a soaking tub in my room as well as access to the beautiful public footbath (my favorite!) and gorgeous bathing areas, which are up high enough so that all you see out of the window are the tree tops. And the food! The summer kaiseki dinner was delicately flavored with light floral notes (and plenty of flowers as decoration), while the breakfast buffet was so good that I think I went back about six times! The Kagaya is a serene Japanese oasis right in the middle of greater Taipei - I hope to stay there again many times in the future.

Great place to stay after a long flight! Would highly recommend to treat yourself if coming from overseas. Use the public hotspring while waiting for your room to be ready. Save from flying business or first class and stay here instead for a fraction of the price.

Room is very cozy, well equipped and maintained. Courteous staff make the entire stay a super pleasant experience. In room warm spring tub and the shower is well designed for easy access, with adequate instructions and safety features. Breakfast buffet is definitely one of the best, strongly recommended to add the breakfast when book rooms. Last, but not the least, the gift shop offers some top quality artworks from Japan. You might want to stop by.

I stayed in Kagaya for 2 nights. These 2 nights are certainly the highlight of my Taiwan trip. The staffs are so friendly and the room is very comfortable. I enjoyed the Onsen in my room and the view is phenomenal. I also tried the public Onsen and I actually liked it better than the one in my room. Dinner and massage service is highly recommended, but there are many good and cheaper options outside the hotel as well.

The property is not exactly the newest, and the tatami floor boards had a smell to it, but any shortcomings are more than compensated by the level of service they provide. Staff are very humble and helpful, and is considerate. The hotel also has events to entertain customers during the day, which make the stay more fulfilling.

I loved the way this place was made a a Japanese traditional style. This hotel is like a hotel where kids would love to play in. The thing is that we know that the traditional Japanese style is great and all but we’re in Taiwan we want part of this hotel to feel a little Taiwanese traditional style too. Like maybe for breakfast not only add Japanese food add some Taiwanese food in it too so many people can also enjoy a part of Taiwan and Japan

Dirty dishes stayed with us for 3 days.

1. The welcome dessert snack and tea dishes didn't get cleaned for 3 days and 2 nights. There were multiple times they came to clean/service the room, but the dirty dishes just sat there during our whole stay.
2. The female butler/host (which this hotel is known for) doesn't speak English.
3. The front desk wasn't quite friendly when I tried to change the reservation made.

onw word: overpriced. for the high price of sgd 450 a night paid, we were definitely expecting more. the bed failed to impress n pillows were way too soft. if not for the half cup of beer I had I probably would not have been able to sleep well. the ceiling was rather low so anyone who's claustrophobic better stay elsewhere. we chose this hotel for the in room hot spring granite tub n that was quite good as it was comfortably wide n deep enough for 2 to soak together. the second best part of the stay would have to be the buffet breakfast which was included (not optional). it was a mix of local n Japanese n western. although the spread wasn't much but the quality was good.

Great Japnaese style hospitality!

My parents enjoyed their stay very much. The room was clean, well-equiped and with an excellent view. Since there was a hot spring in their room, they didn't try the public ones. They were contented with the convenience and privacy having hot spring for two.
They had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Apart from the delicious Jap cuisine, they loved the way the waitress introduced each course so that they knew what and how some of the special dishes were made. They appreciated the little cake for Mum's birthday too:)
Another reason I booked this hotel for my parents was its convenient location. It was right in the park next to the New Beitou Metro Station in a walking distance. The hotel is also surrounded by a few tourist attractions like the library, museums and etc.
If you like the Japanese style hot spring hotels, this is definitely the perfect choice in Beitou.

The hotel room and fixtures are very nice and well maintained. We're just disappointed by the overall service as which was claimed to be the selling point of the hotel. It was raining at the time we checked in. There were few girls standing at the main entrance at the ground floor, and they just run to the car to cater the customers who just drove in, but no one care about where we should go to even we had luggage with us. We walked through the main entrance on our own and went up to the second floor to check in. Another messed situation at the front desk. Few girls were just standing around, but didn't even bother to ask if we need anything. The check-out process was okay. They will give you a coupon for future reservation, but don't bother to ask the details, they will ask you to check it on the website.

Great hotel. Bed was comfortable and the room was quite spacious for 2. I would give it 5, but the hotel failed to advise me of hot water pipe repairs and I couldn't use the in-room tub from 12am to 10 am next day. I received a 30 minute late check out for the inconvenience. It would have been better if it was 60 minutes. Otherwise, everything here was great.

ただ、この北投地区は月曜日が定休日となっているようで、ホテルのレストラン（隣のホテルも同。）、温泉博物館も休館でした。そのような情報もexpediaに紹介があればと思います。

傳統日式酒店在台灣

一直很想體驗入住，但每次假期都不可能預訂到。這次趁平日訂房，終可體驗到「偽日本」的台灣旅遊經驗😆

房間夠大，服務則很看運氣，員工服務有點極端，態度不一。但大部分都很好，甚至乎上了的士離開酒店時，有三個穿著和服的員工居然特意走到對面馬路揮手告別，非常有禮！但第一次去温泉時，那個坐在接待處上了一點年紀的員工一直在講電話，想問他問題，他眼尾也不望一眼！直至我打開冰箱，他馬上昂高頭阻止！我才發現我不是隱型的！

由於是平日的關係，無論早餐和温泉，都很少客人。氣氛差一些。晚餐甚至酒店餐廳也不開門營業。

酒店早餐選擇不算多，但都夠飽。魚生也很新鮮。

酒店對面已是北投溫泉博物館，免費入場。體驗極佳，了解到北投歷史演變非常有意義和感覺！公園內的魚池、荷花池、圖書館也值得一看。吃飽慢慢逛逛走一圈也是賞心樂事！

日本の旅館より、日本の雰囲気です。
お料理も美味しいですが、宿泊費とは別のコース料理でしたので、高くはつきます。
日本語が話せる元気な現地のスタッフさんがおり、頑張っておられ、好感が持てました。
日本人スタッフは1名しかいないとのことでした。
一点、残念だったのが
壁が薄く、夜にエレベーターかコンベア？の音が鳴り響いていたことです。
22:30にはおさまったので眠れましたが、壁が薄いのが残念でした。

Outdated, small and service below standard

During check-in, there was no specific introduction to the hotel facilities; only an information sheet was provided and we had to find out the rest ourselves. I asked to use the public onsen before checking in, but the onsen receptionist charged me for it. When I was about to pay, my friend asked if there was a charge even for guests staying here, and then we didn't have to pay. They thought it was my fault for not mentioning it, rather than the receptionist not asking us. The hotel's main entrance is strange and small. The entrance to the lobby is also very indirect. The elevator is very old, and the hot spring area feels outdated, like a massage parlor. From the photos, I thought the hotel was very large, but it's actually very small and many of the common areas are narrow. The restaurant on the third floor is not luxurious at all. From 1 PM to 4 PM is the peak check-in and check-out time, with staff constantly decorating and arranging, making it very crowded. We booked a family room for three adults with three futon beds, but when we got to the room, there were only two futons. When we called to request an additional futon, they asked for extra money. I told them we had booked a family room for three adults with three futons, and then they said it wasn't necessary to charge extra. They didn't even check our room type before asking for extra money. The room is strange; the balcony has a view of the doorways of other guests' rooms and the elevator.
