Overall disappointed given prior reviews. Air conditioning in our suite was not working properly and having informed housekeeping, the conclusion was it is working! The staff at breakfast had difficulty understanding English and were not very attentive. Breakfast menu also limited compared to the hotels we have stayed at.
Location of hotel is excellent.

What a great hotel! I loved it! It's right in the heart of Vientiane -- walkable to pretty much everything. And the artsy, funky interior design of the hotel was refreshing and exciting. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great -- allowing guests to order as much as they want off the menu. My room was massive and very comfortable, and I loved the rooftop infinity pool and sun decks. I would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend!

Everything was just OK. Food was not at all impressive but very comfortable bed and wonderful though cold pool. Overall it just felt dark and the decor made the building feel data, making the room rate seem a bit high. Room for improvement like umbrellas at the pool, usb chargers in rooms, ladder for pool, handrail for stairs, etc.

Staff and facilities were great. We didn’t pay for breakfast during our stay but they kindly gave it to us complimentary for each morning of our stay. Rooftop pool is gorgeous and a lovely place to relax after touring around during the day. Hotel very central to both markets and lots of places to eat around it.

A beautiful stay!

The staff were so kind and attentive! They realized we would be arriving very early after an overnight flight and allowed us in to the room for a much needed nap. The hotel is among the most beautiful in town. The rooftop pool provided a beautiful view and a nice way to cool off! The restaurant had a wonderful menu and we enjoyed a very nice easy meal on our arrival.

The staff was extremely helpful and answered many questions we had about sights to see and places to eat. The location was great to walk to the night market, walking street and local restaurants. The pool was very nice after a day of sightseeing. The made to order breakfast was a super bonus and delicious.

An amazing stay, especially given the price.
My 2 nights at the Lao Poet Hotel were the best past of Vientiane. Comfortable room and a nice rooftop to enjoy the sunset.
The service level began even before I arrived, the staff assisted in setting up airport pick up as well as procuring a train ticket for the next stop on my journey.

I had to leave early and missed the including breakfast on my last morning but they sent me off with an exceptional breakfast box! I was thoroughly surprised at the quality when I opened it when waiting for my train. And so much fruit I shared it with monks at the station.

We stayed at the Lao Poet for 5 nights. Loved the decor and our room (610) was a good size and quiet. The location is excellent and within walking distance to key sites. There are banks to change money right down the street and several good restaurants within a few minutes. The staff were very sweet and helpful. Breakfast was very fresh. The menu isn’t huge but there is enough to keep it interesting. We stayed for dinner at the hotel one night and it was very god as well. Roof top pool/bar was great to relax after a day of walking around. Would recommend this hotel.

Very pleasant stay, room very spacious, clean & very well appointed. All amenities included that you would need. Breakfast was great with plenty of selection to order. Coffee was the best in the city! Roof top pool was wonderful after a long day out, with the poolside bar for a refreshing drink. Would highly recommend staying here if visiting Vientiane.

Recommended boutique hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is great, lovely helpful staff. The room was fine albeit a bit gloomy due to the odd design to limit the number of lights in the room. There is a nice rooftop pool and restaurant/bar and the location is good. We walked to the central bus station to catch the 14 to the Buddha park one day and paid 100K for a tuk tuk to Pharmacy That Luang another day. Quite a few restaurants and the night market (if you like that kind of thing) are a few streets away.

Great choice for Vientiane

We spent two nights at the Laos Poet at the end of a two week trip and were pleased with our choice. The staff were most attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was on the 4th floor and was very comfortable with a fabulous bathroom. The room was nicely furnished although it was quite dark. We enjoyed the rooftop pool area which has a fabulous view over the city and a cozy bar and restaurant. Laos Poet is very central and we walked to most of the city’s attractions.

The Lao Poet Hotel reception, restaurant and bar personnel are all highly professional. The receptionist especially provided us with useful and money-saving information. Great centre location, very quiet. Very helpful friendly staff, even before arrival we had superb service from Zack who went to great lengths to help us find s great driver to take us up to Luang Prabang.
Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated in rich fabrics and colours.

Beautiful hotel but services overcharged

This hotel is beautiful, lovely modern style and spacious rooms. I was pleased to have free water daily as most hotels only provide it as a one off. The rooftop pool area is amazing, although there aren’t many beds around the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only issue I had was that I had a small bag of laundry done during my stay and I was charged USD $40 for it which I think is extortionate, the room was under $80 for one night so I don’t know how they think half that amount for some laundry is reasonable!

Stylish comfortable stay at in the center of the Lao capital. Loved my large colorful suite with adjustable blinds. Great a/c. Slightly inconvenient shower. Nice refuge from the general disaster that is Vientiane.

Excellent breakfast. Tasty and the way it was presented. Especially the Lao Poet Jam. The room we got was high but facing construction. The pool was clean and at highest level you can sit there and see sunset. The night market and supermarket and cafes ( hard rock!)are nearby.

A lovely stay in a bustling neighborhood

A great location, right in the heart of the French quarter and within walking distance of many sights and shops. We had an incredible driver (pm me to get details) to take us to other sites when we wanted to get out of the city or to/from airport. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. There seem to be a few \"tweaks\" being made to service by management that will help in future. We booked spa treatments for our final day and the masseurs were very well trained in massage

Location makes it good for walking around Vientiane to all the central sites, and you're a couple of roads over from the night market and a few tripadvisor tourist recommended bars (pass on Earth.. horrendous service).

Downside of the hotel is the walls are made of paper. The couple next door were fairly active majority of the night, which sparked the couple the other side as well so it was a fairly sleepless night with a very vocal party. The beds were made use of. Alot. Many times.

It was a nice hotel. The shower didn’t drain well so we had to get that sorted and then in the morning from 6am there was a cockerel near by which went on all day long. The room was nice and the staff were lovely. We weren’t there long or I’d ask to move rooms due to the cockerel as it was constant. Don’t take a room on the side with the car park.

Great service and location!

This was our first time in Laos, so we decided to stay at this hotel based on their reviews. The location is great if you are willing to walk to look at their local temples and street vendors/night market. The hotel physically itself is decent. The decor in the lobby & room is very nice, but the technology is very undeveloped compared to other hotels. To open the door, you need to use a physical key that’s attached to a long and bulky keychain, instead of a card key. Also, the TV doesn’t work well, it has lots of static and only about 10 channels. Staff is super friendly, and always welcomes you when you walk pass by. Breakfast is good, you get to pick from a menu, and they make it hot and fresh for you which I like. If I was to come to Laos again I will most likely stay here.

Absolutely loved everything

We loved everything about this hotel. The spacious rooms, the large bathroom, lovely bed, the lobby, rooftop bar, the infinity pool... Mr. Hylton was super attentive to us and so was all the other staff. We liked very much the style: Urban/Industrial, but warm. Breakfast was very nice too. Will stay there again at our next visit to Vientiane. Thanks again to all staff for everything.

An amazing hotel in what is actually a great town!

Lao Poet Hotel is, like Vientiane, a wonderful surprise. Comfy beds and beautifully decorated rooms are complemented by an amazing rooftop infinity pool, cold beer, fab views and all-round great service. It was the perfect place to explore the capital - right in the heart of things - and the ideal place to enjoy the calm and charm of the 'city'. The hotel helped us fall for Vientiane - I'd recommend it heartily to anyone!

This place is truly unique!

This was the best place to stay! All of the modern conveniences right in the old part of town. The hotel easily could be a 5 star hotel and the rooftop infinity pool that looks out onto the Mekong is wonderful. The staff was superb!

Das Hotel hat eine gute Lage. Der Pool und die Bar auf dem Dach war super. In unserem Zimmer war die Toilette gelb verfärbt. Na ja……
Frühstück Auswahl eher klein. Es gab nur Weissbrot.
Aus diesem Grund für uns gut und nicht mehr.
