Very convenient for me, and I gave 5 stars as very good value for the location. I liked the on-street paid parking, which is free at night and weekends. I purchased a very small amount of time on Friday afternoon, to check it lasted until Monday, to be safe.
The staff were absolutely wonderful, and always ready to help with all enquiries.
The only slight drawback was limited food nearby, with only a limited variety of snaks at the hotel and a bit of a walk to shops and restaurants.

Nice clean room, very pleasant staff. Convenient if you have to attend St George’s Hospital as it is in the grounds. As hotel has limited eating facilities, there is an M & S Simply Food in the hospital as well as other cafes etc. Short walk to Tooting Broadway, - lots of restaurants & cafes

I arrived to the hotel at night time (before midnight) to check-in and there was no one at the reception. I had to stand there for good 15 minutes ringing the reception bell but no one came. I was extremely tired and went back outside. This is just so disappointing.

I have stayed many times and nothing but praise but this time was awful. The room was cramped and extremely cold. When I asked for with another blanket or heater they had none. The main heating also had been turned off in December. Also the shower entrance was a tight fit for me. So I didn’t have a good evening. No other chair to sit on except the edge of the bed.

Room was neglected, lamp shades battered, ripped and placed on a wonk. The bedding was dirty.

Hot room, stank of food when we walked in.

Aircon was wafting around weed smells, I assume this is from apartments, so maybe not entirely hotels fault.

1/2 of curtains wouldn’t pull open, so had limited natural light.

It’s a shame as I needed a quiet base before a shift at the hospital.

Reception staff were lovely though. Only other plus is that it was £80 so one of cheapest in area.

The room wasn't completely ready. There were no plates, cutlery or pans to cook withe, we had a Junior suite which has cookinf facilities, but each time we have to ask theses. Also one huge issue which we did not notice until the following morning when the sheets had move away from the mattress and that was a huge stain on mattress, size of 2 large hands in top right hand corner. I spoke to checkin desk who really wasnt bothered or apologised and just said \"it was checked\" with a tone of inconvenience, no apology was given !

I stayed in 4 different rooms at this hotel in a 2 week period. The beds are OK but a bit hard. Not as good as a premier inn. The rooms are small. The standard double gets you a desk and a couple of square metres more. The cosy doubles are smaller but not worth the extra for a standard. The showers are good, powerful and hot. The air conditioning does not work. You set the temperature then it immediately reverts back to 22 degrees. You can open the windows but right outside is a busy noisey road on 3 sides. Building work starts at 5am on one side so expect banging, crashing and general noise from there. O erall

Unfortunately the room was too hot for my liking so I didn't sleep well and the AC was set at a fixed temperature so I couldnt cool it down. Plus the mattress was too firm for me being a side sleeper. Also there were cobwebs on the window frame behind the curtains and the bathroom cupboard looked a bit shoddy. On the plus side the receptionist was super friendly and kind and verg professional.

Not as great an experience this time around

After staying in the triple room with family a few months ago and having a wonderful experience, I booked a solo trip and stayed in the double room. Unfortunately, my experience this time around wasn't as great. The double bed was exceedingly soft (it felt like it was long overdue for renewal) and the pillows were flat as pancakes, I had a very uncomfortable sleep. The last time, we were situated on the 3rd floor with a front facing room and it was so peaceful and quiet. This time, I was on the first floor with a side facing room and could hear absolutely everything. Doors constantly slamming, talking, noise from above, trolleys and bins pulled on the asphalt outside, and street noise. However, the room was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was very affordable. I think if I visit again, I'll be sure to only book a triple room on a higher floor.

It's conveniently located right next to the hospital but a bit further away (roughly 15-20 mins) walk from the main high street for food and groceries. Otherwise it's a small, neat room. The bathroom has been modernised and I love that you can open the windows (which some hotels don't give you the option to do). It's on a nice, relatively quiet street and you can park on the street in the evenings so long as you move the car by 8.30am - the only improvement I would make is that I wish the reception staff were a bit more friendly

Very comfortable hotel with both guests & residents! The fire alarm went off twice will we were there and residents said it was a common occurrence as some folk smoked/used hair dryers in rooms which set off the sensitive alarms! The hotel had 13 floors, fortunately we were on the third floor but my friend has mobility problems, so in such situations cannot use the lifts! It was the lack of communication that l found difficult!
All said & done, the hotel was still very clean, comfortable & convenient for our visit to Wimbledon! 🎾

The property is within the perimeters of St George Hospital so was relatively easy to find from the underground station of Tooting Broadway. Facilities are basic for a hotel i.e. no breakfast provision although they did have vending machines and a small 'bar area' situated offset from the reception.
We stayed in the ground floor 'suite' room which consisted of a lounge/kitchenette and separate double bedroom with an outside patio area which was ok - no outside table or chairs provided!
Room itself was adequate - without the addition of the lounge area it would have seemed exceptionally small. Toilet/shower area was tiny. I feel the room would benefit from a decorative make over - it was very tired with soiled and stained carpet and chipped furniture giving it a very unloved feel.
The hotel is in a convenient position in Tooting for the shops and dining venues which are a short walk away. We were able to walk to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis club in under an hour therefore it met our needs - would consider staying there again if rooms had an upgrade.

Quite subtle signage which was difficult to see when arriving in the dark. Small univiting reception area. Only one member of staff working reception dealing with an incredibly rude guest. They remained professional and courteous throughout and dealt with us smoothly and efficiently when it was our turn. Great room but a few things let it down. The armchair was absolutely awful, it had the most horrible offensive stains. The window externally was so dirty you could barely see out of it. The kettle needed a good clean. Positive, excellent price, great room, great bed, so comfortable. Decent sized shower with toiletries and did provide tea and coffee.

The location was excellent for our needs and the bed was comfortable and clean BUT I booked the studio with Kitchener to enable us to buy and prepare own own meals and therefore save a lot of money on eating out. The room did indeed have a fridge, hob and microwave/ combi oven but there was quite literally no equipment. No chopping board, knives, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery or drinking glasses. Also a sink but no washing liquid sponge cloth or t towels to enable you to clean up. Surely they don’t expect customers to bring their own plates and saucepans. If I had known that nothing was provided I would not have booked
We stayed 2 nights and on the 2nd day our bed was made but nothing else, not even our coffee cups were cleaned or replaced. Really extraordinary
Some plates were provided when I requested them but I maintain that we were misled that this was a self catering unit

Excellent find. Used for Wimbledon. Uber £8 to the tennis. Small foyer area though you can buy beer/wine/coffee. Room compact with tea/coffee and a great shower. The only complaint - only one flat pillow each. Too tired to ask for another as I’m sure they would have provided. Staff very nice and helpful. Close to Tooting with bars/cafes etc..Will be back next year!

The room was a single accommodation but due to a double bed, was sold as a double room- just not enough space for 2 people.
The aircon did not work (we reported this upon arrival and requested a fix, (or a minimum requirement of fans to cool the room). We returned to the room (4.5 hours later) and the aircon was still not working. The room was intolerable/uninhabitable due to heat- (temps for the 2 day stop were 30-34 c and the room reached 37 c).
Nor effort was made to install fan(s) to cool the room.
The ereceptioniisty had no record of our request and had not been left handover or a record made of the issue.
After some debate with the receptionist, we were given an alternative room.
I would not stay there again nor recommend the hotel. The room size is questionable.

The modern Pelican is on the grounds of the huge St George's hospital and is close to nothing else but a graveyard. It's a great location if you are a walker. The Pelican is regular hotel plus a large number of long term flats. There are no instruction for the guest laundry or in-room climate system. While the rooms are very nice, there isn't much unused floorspace. There was nowhere to open my suitcase.

Fantastic Budget Hotel

I don’t know why this hotel has such low ratings. I must admit, I was hesitant to book because of the bad reviews but because my booking was so last minute, I did not really have a choice. Here is my review:

The Pros:
- Everything was clean and tidy
- Super quiet! Honestly, this was probably the quitest hotel I have stayed at. All the budget hotels like Z hotels, Ibis, Travelodge boast of soundproofing but I could always hear people CONSTANTLY! This was such a refreshing change. The road is quite noisy but once you close the windows, you can't hear a thing.
- Mostly well-connected. It is a bit out of the way and takes around 40min to get to the centre of London but at this price, it's a steal! There are multiple bus stops nearby and the tube is a 15min walk away.
- Room size is very generous. We stayed in the triple room and it had 3 single beds, a large single seater couch, a dressing table and chair and ample room to spare!
- Comfy beds and sheets. We slept very well.

The cons:
- The carpet and couch could do with a deep clean.
- The walls are a bit grubby. Could do with some new paint.
- If I'm really nit-picking, the nearest shops and restaurants were about a 10min walk away so a bit far if you are feeling lazy.

The hotel is not perfect, but for the cost, it was more than sufficient. More than I can say for many other hotels in London.
Overall, my family and I had a wonderful stay and were more than happy. Fantastic value for money! We will definitely be back!

The rooms on the ground floor really need a deep clean - the carpets get vacuumed but look very dirty and stained- you don’t want to put your bare feet on them. Glass light shade very dusty. Gives a sense of lack of care.
Facilities are not great - apparently you have to ask for a hairdryer at reception but they don’t tell you that when you check in. Fridge door upside down so handle near the floor. In one room toilet seat damaged needs replacing and kettle lid broken. Both items made of cheap plastic so not expensive to replace. Staff are nice.

Pros: The staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable. The shower had consistent hot water.
Cons: The room was very outdated and in need of an upgrade (major scuffs and dings on the walls, the floor and chair were stained). The shower was super tiny and not sealed well, so if the water got on that side of the shower, it would leak on the floor. It is supposed to have a restaurant, but it's closed permanently. It has a small bar at the lobby, but doesn't have a license to sell beer yet. We were happy it had a lift (this was a big feature for us as I have a bad knee injury) but with no notice, only halfway into our trip, they put up signs saying to use the stairs as the main floor was having renovations done. This was super inconvenient and painful. Overall, if you're not spending a lot of time in your room and you're just looking for a cheap place to stay, this one is decent. Not great, but not terrible.
