The location is good, but that's about all I can praise here. First, this is not a place you want to stay if you travel with significant luggage (given the labyrinthine and narrow hallways) - but that was not the issue for me. Rather, the room environment was not comfortable as the room thermostat had no effect despite being on and claiming to register my setting changes. (And who has decided that a single heavy bed cover is good, rather than multiple layers of bedsheets?) But the main issue was that the noise was awful. It was not the people in the pub below that were the problem, but rather the constant slamming of doors somewhere below on the ground floor - slamming which went on till after 1am. Hotel staff also rather uninterested that you are there. I can not recommend this place, especially at the price charged.

The Alma is conveniently located by the train station. It’s literally steps away. It’s in a great area with dining and shops in walking distance. They have a lively pub and quaint restaurant on site. The rooms are comfortable with space to stretch out after a long travel day.

Fabulous hotel.

The Alma is a gem.Tucked away in a \"foody\" street, but opposite Wandsworth Town rail station, this is a blend of buzzing gastropub and genuine charm high-end hotel. Impeccably managed by a dog-loving manager and a great team, we found the Alma to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Our room was super-comfortable and had everything we could possibly need, from a Nespresso machine (with fresh milk in the fridge) to a large bath and excellent rain shower. Most importantly, the bed was super-comfortable. The Alma is part of a hotel group, and these people clearly know their stuff. Will we stay there again? You bet!

A brilliant gastro pub with a really lovely hotel

We loved this pub and hotel. The staff were superb. Especially our waiter who created a new table for us to have lunch as the pub was so busy. The check in staff were super friendly. Our food was first class and the room was really comfy with loads of extras and a lovely mini bar.

Loved this quiet little stay a bit further from city center. On our last day we figured out the trains and let me suggest to utilize those on your trip! I’d never navigated public trains before and it was super simple. There’s a few restaurants and a little mart on this street. The hotel is situated inside the only bar/restaurant on the street, which was very convenient but not distributive at all.

Fab hotel, modern, clean, roomy and great neighborhood with lots of options for meals. Transport is Brit rail to Clapham Junction and Waterloo with buses that connect to Victoria. Would definitely stay here again.

Very hot in our room, despite having an air con unit. We’re told in the morning that this was all controlled centrally rather than in room. However you wouldn’t naturally assume this if you have a control in your room and there was nothing in the room indicating it was controlled from reception!
As we arrived at c11pm, we thought it was too late to change rooms and so had a v uncomfortable night’s sleep.

Great location just opposite a station, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious but food took a while, was worth the wait. Fabulous choice in the mini bar in room. Friendly staff. Was a fantastic choice to stay over for backyard cinema which was a 5 minute walk from hotel.

Fabulous one night stay room was lovely and bed comfy. The staff were very accommodating as our daughter came and joined us for breakfast and we just paid 10 pound . What a lovely breakfast it was too.

First post-covid stay, excellent!

First stay in a post-Covid world, and the cleanliness/hand sanitizing / distancing etc. was perfect. We had an absolutely delicious meal and before we ordered were told there was likely to be quite a long wait, and offered a complimentary drink before we ordered - excellent service to avoid a difficult situation in advance.

Little bit disappointing....

Slightly disappointing compared to previous stays even taking COVID into consideration. Service sporadic although friendly. No milk for morning tea in the fridge. Small thing but so important when you’re time challenged! Bathroom definitely needs a make over. Shower holder cracked and black mould on the shower screen. Delicious dinner and check out man was absolutely lovely.

Perfectly fine hotel with very convenient location for a family visit. Overpriced ‘tuck shop’ in room (no 9) struck an odd note, but room quietly situated above an inner courtyard, away from the bustle of the pub and restaurant. Full English breakfast was also OK but not special.

The Alma Hotel is situated on a quaint cobble-stone Street, giving it the London-feel without too much city noice and traffic. The location is perfect for traveling via underground or train, because the hotel is just a few steps away from the nearest tube station. Our room was gorgeous and the bed was super comfortable. The pillows were my only complaint. I think the location, access to amenities (like the pub downstairs), and the room aesthetics make this hotel worth every penny.

Room & bathroom better than expected.
Restaurant with a great breakfast (and supper) menu.
Don’t be put off by it being a pub, there is no noise carried through to the rooms.
Great location for walking up the Thames, or jumping the train three stops to Vauxhall tube station

We had a great room. It was big and had all the extra. Bathroom was impressive too with a larger than normal bath which was deep. We did not try the separate shower. Breakfast in bed was a lovely treat. We are in the hotel restaurant with super friendly service and the Alma burger and their fish dishes were spot on.

An uforgetable experience!

If you want an experience of a lifetime, you have to book a room at the fabulous Alma hotel. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. King bed was over the top comfortable, staff was attentive and as helpful as I've ever had. Attached was a fabulous dinner where we enjoyed a hot free breakfast every morning. Also attached was a 'proper English pub' that served great 'pub grub' and the coldest beer in town. Best for last, we were personally looked after by the general manager, Sean Murphy and one of his assistants Silvio. We will return for all the above reasons to include easy access to bus and train.

What a great find The Alma was!! We arrived fairly late, just as the kitchen shut but the staff were so helpful and rustled us up a lovely meat platter! Excellent atmosphere in the pub and the rooms were outstanding!! Will definitely stay here again!

We have stayed here before on both occasions to visit Wimbledon. It's about a 45 minute walk from The Alma. We were slightly disappointed this time as our room, whilst very nice, wasn't as good as the first time we stayed and they were both boutique rooms. Also the air con didn't seem to work after the first night and it was hot in London.
We needed to be up and out very early to join the Wimbledon queue and asked if we could have a breakfast box the night before. The person on reception didn't quite grasp this, despite us explaining twice. However, she had organised that fruit, cereals and toast were available early. The trouble is we didn't have time to stop for it.
The rooms are clean and a reasonable size. We stayed in room 16 this time, which could do with a little refurbishment. There has obviously been a leak in the room above and there is a damp patch above the mirror in the bathroom. It was dripping whilst we were there. Also the surface inside the wardrobe was damaged.
We like the fact that you can have fresh milk for tea and coffee and that there is a small fridge in the room.
There's also a good Sainsburys local just down the road.
Just across the road from the station so easy to get around

Modest but pleasant home base for a London visit

Both the good points and weaknesses were nearly identical to our stay there 5 years ago. Friendly and helpful staff; comfortable bed; quiet room despite the bar downstairs; excellent breakfast; literally steps from a train station (Wandsworth Town) and bus stop with great connections; about a mile walk to a shopping center with a nice variety of offerings; reasonable price. On the other hand: No computer available for guest use; no maps posted or available of the local area; translucent bathroom doors; the only hotel I've encountered anywhere that didn't have face cloths/wash cloths/flannels available - all easily fixable. Seniors and people with disabilities also need to be aware that there are no elevators in the hotel or the train station across the street.

Could do a lot better....

The bed was comfy and well stocked mini bar if you want to use it. Pity hotels still haven't found a way to keep the fridge cold without having to use your \"key\".

But, overall it was really disappointing - this used to be an excellent boutique hotel that was great value for money. The bathroom stank of sewers and there was no hot water so couldn't have a shower or bath. Plus I had requested a bathroom WITH a bath (not just a shower) which was ignored. To be fair the manager did apologise profusely and as I have stayed here often, as a gesture of good will gave me the night for free.

The hotel was very clean, and the staff was wonderful, but is just too far from everything we wanted to see, and we spent a lot of time on the trains getting to and from everything in the heart of London. We only had a few days in London, and felt the travel really cut into our time.

Great hotel and pub, shame about the food

Fabulous hotel room - stylish, spacious, spotless, quiet, huge bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. The pub and dining area had a great buzz about them. However. Only one choice of meal for a vegetarian - as we were staying for two nights this meant no choice whatsoever for my colleague. The quality of the one meal he did have was very poor and the chicken that I ordered was over-cooked. I suspect it had been pre-cooked then heated up. Service was also very patchy. Such a shame as this could be a great place.

Visiting relatives in the area and was the only boutique hotel in Wandsworth, South London. Funky collection of new and antiquey furniture. Staff was very accommodating. Bed was OK but pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. View into small unfurnished courtyard represented only window in the room. Noisy children in the hallway, but no noise from the pub. Included breakfast was good though few choices. Dinner was plated beautifully but food was not good and would not recommend eating dinner there. Very far from central London.

Neighbourhood has everything you need from gyms, restaurants, supermarkets and river walks. Perfect London visit oasis.

Getting in to London Centre easy via train from Wandsworth to Vauxhall thenk on to Victoria line tube. Loved our brief stay and breakfast topped it all off. Will be back

Lovely hotel and location for Wimbledon

We stayed here for two nights to visit our son and Wimbledon. I can highly recommend this hotel. Its right opposite the train station and has a lovely courtyard entrance by the side of the pub. We took the bus to Wimbledon which was about 30 mins and very convenient getting there and back. The buses run to midnight so no rushing back from watching the late matches. The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and well equipped with good quality tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. We had read great reviews about the breakfasts and weren't disappointed. My husband had the portobello mushrooms with goats cheese and I tried potato rosties with smoked salmon and creme fraiche - absolutely delicious! Unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to try the evening meal but judging by the menu I'm sure it would be just as good. We'll look forward to that on our next stay. A bit outside the centre of London but we had no problem with that as we weren't rushing anywhere. Very friendly staff as well. Guests also get free access to local gym which I wasn't aware of before we went .
