Very disappointed in the condition of the hotel room and building it was located in. Comfort Inn would have been better. It was a DUMP compared to the pictures of the mansion and hotel rooms showed on the website. The building must have had severe water damage over time, as most of the rugs were buckled up and they had several humidifiers set out in the hall ways. The building had a very musty moldy smell that permeated into the hotel room. The hotel room looked like something from the1980's/90's. Killed 4 spiders and 1 small bug in the bed. AC was horrible, TV remote didn't work, couldn't get water to turn on in tub (old style needed to be shown how to operate). The venue caters to weddings going on and does nothing for any other guests. When checking in, we couldn't go to the front of the hotel to drop off our luggage, we had to lug everything from the very far away hilly parking lot. Then trying to get to the front for our wedding shuttle, a bride was going to be coming through so we were told we had to walk around the entire property to get to the front, instead of going through the building. 80 degrees out and we are in gowns and heels, made it to the shuttle within minutes to spare dripping with sweat. Front Desk staff not helpful & clueless. Couldnt tell us the time for the wedding shuttle and didn't know who gift bags were for what wedding. It was not worth the money spent for 2 nights at this dump.

The staff is very nice so it pains me to write this review. But, the condition of the room was DISGUSTING. We stayed in the Annex as it is dog friendly. It looked like a Motel 6 where they house the homeless. Curtains pushed up against the windows. Stained hallway carpets. Really gross. Bad pillows. We left a day early without a refund...it was that bad. I also got hives due to the chemicals they clean with. On top of it all, the free breakfast was unedible. What is really sad is that this place could be a JEWEL. Such a missed opportunity to create a wonderful hotel.

The rooms were nicely appointed, fridge wasn’t plugged in and didn’t really cool. We wish the indoor pool/ hot tub was open just a bit later than 6pm.
8pm would be great for guests to enjoy after dinner dip. Staff was awesome walked us about to show us how to get to rooms and the amenities, the bar not being open on weekends was disappointing as well.

The hotel was almost entirely occupied by a very large number of people celebrating a bar mitzvah. The hotel reservation staff never told me of this event. I rented two rooms, one for me and my husband and one for my daughter and her husband and two young children (both under the age of 5). As my husband, myself and a staff member walked to our room, the staff member informaed us that the bar/food locationi was unavailable because the party occupying most of the hotel, did not want \"ordinary folk\" to have access to this service. Also, there were SILENT posters in various portions of our walkl from room to exit. The Mansion provided no additonal services to accomodate us \"ordinary folk\" - no room service; an app required to get a soda, and a TV internet that did not provide access to channels providing current programming. For access, we were instructed to join Samsung programming. Due to its geographic convenience, I have stayed in this hotel many times over the past 20 years. It appears they have a monopoly over the Glen Cove area. My past experiences have been equally non-hospitable. I stayed there for my son's wedding, and they put me in one of those lower-level mildew-ridden rooms. For $300+ per night, they provide minimal amenities. The rooms are poorly lit, poorly ventilated, and not conducive for handicapped patrons.
I WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN.

2nd stay at property. Was really disappointed, compared to one year ago. Put us in a room that could not access luggage carrier..had to go up a stair case, and then down a very long hallway carrying all luggage, leaving bags on carrier (hoping they would be there when we got back.) Sounds stupid, but shower head was so broken could not stay in position; kept drifting down against the wall, so really could not get a descent shower (had to try to squish up against the wall to have water hit you. Breakfast was really non-existant; last time at least made an effort for breakfast...this had coffee with a gallon of milk sitting in an bowel with ice, and a few cereal boxes, and bananas. Overall, very disappointed, as was not the same experience we had last time. I cancelled next trip scheduled for 2 months.

The staff were great and friendly. The rooms are newly redone and are good - but the shower did not have a shelf to put even soap on. Also, the indoor pool/hot tub is closed and doesn't have a date of \"re-opening\". A big disappointment that it has been closed for YEARS.

What I did not like, bathroom setup. One hook by the shower, no hooks by the sink for hand towels. No shelf in the shower for any bath products, everything has to be put on the floor of the shower. Shower fixtures not easy to switch, overall experience very dissatisfing.

I paid for my parents to stay here and it is clean and very nice. They don't make it clear the floors go in reverse. If you want to stay on the ground floor, it is the third floor, one level down is the second. The front desk was helpful and friendly. Not sure if it's worth the $400 for a night but my parents had no complaints.

Front desk help when we arrived was very curt and unfriendly. Questions asked to them were burdensome and the staff was clearly annoyed at having to try to accommodate requests for an earlier check-in than 4pm. We were told that we could check-in earlier for a $100 fee. Once we arrived in the room we were given, #100, it was next to the elevator with loud passing traffic and basically underground. View was mostly of dirt and soil.

The room was filthy! The toilet seat had not been cleaned and you can imagine what was left on it. I have never experienced that in any of the hotels I have stayed in across the globe. The rooms were old but not well maintained. Carpets everywhere had food, stains, etc. The incessant noise from the air conditioner was crazy... banging, clicking, draining etc. all night and very loud! It is sad but obvious the owner has given up. This is not the place it once was!

The natural beauty (i.e. landscaped gardens, etc.) and main house (for events-only) are bucolic and elegantly lovely with historic charm. The prefab flat-roofed structure for all the sleeping rooms is another story: hallway carpets stink of mildew; sleeping rooms have dilapitated & dusty/dirty furniture; windows & mirrors are filthy; curtains are filthy. Showers are great w/ excellent water pressure and hot water. Morning \"breakfast buffets\" are terrible: no sausage, no scrambled or fresh-cooked eggs, no cheese, no meats or other protein but the gross little pre-cooked eggs that look & taste like they were baked in a small cupcake tray; inexplicable HARD-BOILED EGGS sitting there that no one age (why even have this???); no whole-grain bread/toast, only white-bread (how unhealthy); weak/poor coffee that tastes worse than Starbuck's or Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

The Mansion is a unique property of many contradictions. Magnificent building and historic rooms at front leading to a maze of dingy corridors and bland rooms. Wonderful well kept grounds but viewed through dirty windows and blown glazing. Large parking lot but scattered with abandoned derelict vehicles. The hotel caters for large conferences and fancy weddings but there is no dining or bar for residents. The nearest restaurant or cafe is 10 mins drive. Beautiful outdoor pool but was closed for maintenance 3 of the 4 days we were there. The spa and indoor pool has been closed some time for refurbishment, but no work going on. Potential to be a great hotel, but not yet.

Biggest issue are the showers. The doors are installed backwards so the shower blows water all over the floor. When I brought it up to the desk attendant at checkout, she said they already knew about it. She was dismissive and flipant and frankly didn't care. Not the type of personality for customer service. I mentioned I almost fell twice, and how dangerous that is, she merely smiled and shrugged her shoulders. There was 1/4\" of standing water covering the entire bathroom floor, ran into hallway and covered the closet door. I paid to be a guest here. I DIDN'T pay to be their janitor. Terrible conditions, unhelpful and rude staff. Stay elsewhere.

Could be great! The owners need to bring it up to ithe grandure it deserves. Very expensive for not delivering on atmosphere. Staff was unprofessional over charged for two cocktails!!!! No one new how to help with the electric car station rented a car and could not get the ev station to work. Guest rooms we like hospital rooms. Cold in decor musty! No place to put your things bathrooms have no towel rack sink area is too small. Over all disappointing. Owners need to go visit their comptition around the country. There is no Bar no place to sit and relax and visit with family and friends. Pool area is ridiculous!!! Charging to sit on a lounge chair!!!! Pool area was un kept and bar area was terrible very ugly and unprofessional staff. We were at a wedding. Service was very slow at getting the dinner out atr at 9+ oclock. Grounds were disappointing to the website pictures. Would not recommend this facility over priced and poorly maintained and a terrible atmosphere.

Overall, I was not impressed by the price-quality balance. The pool was closed for hours when we stayed. It was also heated in the middle of August, which made lap swimming unappealing. The shower was a faucet coming out of the wall, no removable head to get clean, and just dripping wirh zero pressure. There was an open bathroom trash can without a lid. So they want people with periods, roughly 50 percent of people at some point in their lives, to stink up the room, flush the used product, or stay home.

Property is beautiful and well maintained. Staff is very nice and pleasant with tne exception of front desk staffer, seemed annoyed by our questions and was not helpful with printing boarding passes for flight. Another lady came in and assisted us. In a room with two adults two coffee cups would be appreciated. Also a towel bar instead of one hook in the bathroom for towels. Better lighting in bathroom it's dreadful. Overall we enjoyed our stay but small changes could make it better.

Mansion Adjacent Stay. Still nice.

The rooms are in an extension on the mansion and its a very far walk to some rooms but if you have the long walk then you are near the indoor pool and spa so if thats your goal it will work out. Aug 2025, Pool is bring renovated so no pool this trip. There are sitting areas on the way to your room. The rooms are very nice. Still a fun get away.

I have to stay here often bc of its proximity to family. The hotel needs a facelift. There are no dining options and very few amenities. It is sprawling and difficult to get around (carpet peeling up and difficult to transport suitcases through unbelievably long corridors). The walls are paper thin so everything can be heard from outside the room--including staff constantly slamming doors in the morning. As a guest, one feels secondary to the apparent primary source of revenue, event services. The place has potential. Hopefully there are updates planned. I've encountered some excellent customer service and some average--nothing terrible.

The view from the front is the nicest part of this facility. Very limited places for gathering and all of the rooms are in adjacent buildings with bland architecture. The pool area is nice, but is swarmed by a children's day camp every day. There are no onsite dining options and there's nowhere to sit in the lobby or within the historic house. My room itself was nice, but for the price we paid, there are so many nicer alternatives.

It is so beautiful and historic, We just wish it was a bit cleaner. The carpets were dirty and a band-aid remained on the floor in the hallway throughout the weekend. Breakfast was served on the dirty table cloth’s from the wedding the night before. This could really be a gem if it were maintained.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mansion in Glen Cove and will return the next time we visit family in Glen Cove.

I have a lot to say about this unusual hotel so I'm going to begin with the best parts of our stay with a more comprehensive review below.

Highlights:
- The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

- Over 55 acres of beautiful grounds.

- Excellent complimentary continental breakfast.

- Comfortable mattress, with decent sheets.

- Overall cleanliness is very good and though it is an older property, the hotel smells fresh.

- Diverse spaces throughout the hotel to congregate with others.

- Tons of really lovely space options if you wanted to host an event.

We arrived nearly two hours before check-in & swung by the Mansion to see if an early check-in was possible. Fortunately, it was

a possibility & the front desk staff was gracious In making this accommodation.

We were pleased with our room (we rented the Regular King Suite rather than the Deluxe).

Things to consider:
- The entire property is historic. Even the \"new\" section was built in 1967.

- It's in the process of a renovation & as such there is evidence of maintenance in many corners of the property.

Room for improvement:
- The QR code provided in the room that indicated it contained important information led to a url not found error.

- A text to a number provided to answer questions was answered six hours after we checked out.

As a local, I was extrememly disappointed in my stay. I booked a room about 8 months in advance for my wedding night. I did not seem to get the room I booked and I paid a small fortune for. While the facilities were comfy, there was rust and mould in places. On top of that, finding other peoples' hairs in our bed showed that they did less than a stellar job of cleaning the place. Other guests were obnoxious and abusive towards staff, which I know isn't the staff's fault, but meanwhile the staff then was very quick to rush us.

The only reason we gave two stars it’s because the place is beautiful and clean! Upon a late check-in the host at the desk didn't look up to say hello, welcome or anything. Our room didn’t have AC, we stayed two nights with supposed to be a Luxury King but it’s in the basement with supposed to be a garden view but we have brick buildings. They cleaned our room but did not leave toiletries to use for the second day. Will never to go back there again!

Not great value-crowds everywhere

This is an expensive 800 room hotel that has many events like weddings and conferences going on at the same time so it is very loud with literally hundreds of people walking around and music blaring from different public rooms all day long. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to your room so not good for anyone with physical issues. The parking is far away from the main entrance and mostly full. No restaurant or bar! The rooms are dated and a bit depressing. Not really any bathroom amenities like shower caps, cotton swabs, etc. Not great value for the $$$.

Perfectly fine. This isn’t the luxury property you expect from the pictures—the hotel rooms are in motel-like wings connected to the mansion. The room was a bit under-furnished and not finished to a high standard, but comfortable. Beautiful grounds. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. I don’t understand some of the terrible reviews this property has gotten.

This was our second visit to the Mansion at Glen Cove. The first time was several years ago, and we were less than impressed at that time. We thought we would give them a second chance, hoping that they were renovating the premises during our first visit and we would find an improvement. Everything was the same as it was the first time. The staff was friendly and helpful--I have no complaint with them. We did not eat there, so I cannot comment on that part of their service. What impressed us so much was the condition of the building itself. It appears run-down. The outside entrance looks like it needs some painting and other TLC. On the inside, the rugs definitely needed to be cleaned, and at least vacuumed! The wallpaper in the main hallway was showing signs of age and wear--some peeling in spots and marking. The hallways for some of the bedroom areas are VERY dark. It makes the hotel look old and run-down. The handicapped bathroom had no vent or fan, the water kept running in the toilet and the sink kept dripping. The bathroom had poor lighting and no vanity to put our things on. Our room also would have benefitted by a new paint job. Finally I would say, the owner and/or management company of the hotel needs to paint and clean hallways and rooms, and install better lighting in hallways. Room plumbing needs to be maintained. The hotel needs a facelift. Considering the price per night of this hotel, I will go to the Holiday Inn next time.

If you are hosting a wedding here it’s probably fine but I would not suggest staying here as a general hotel guest. The mansion is pretty but most of the guest rooms are in barrack style buildings behind the mansion. In between the space was set up for weddings and staff seemed uncomfortable with us walking around it. The wedding was super loud, people were noisy all night. The indoor pool had been out of service for ages but was listed as an amenity. Then there were a series of smaller annoyances - things that have become more standard in mid tier hotels, like no access to coffee/tea in the lobby; no ev charger on site or nearby; no dining at all or even a bar on the premises (though the breakfast service was nice); no shelf or place to put soap in the shower other than the floor, no large mirror in some of the rooms, no trash can in the bathroom, not the most comfortable beds, unkempt trash piles on the edges of the property etc. When we complained about some of the above we were told by the desk staff that they aren’t actually a hotel but rather are a wedding venue - but yet list their property on Expedia - so what were we supposed to think? The place has a lot of potential and seems fine for weddings but otherwise I’d stay away.

The mansion is a beautiful building and the rooms are comfortable and clean BUT , the walls are paper thin which makes for a very noisy stay! We did 2 nights and both nights were awake from 12-4am with other guests talking, yelling , singing in the hallways, slamming doors . Our neighbors alarm woke us , sounded like it was in our room then we got to enjoy an hour of him singing. It was a real let down to a wonderful property. The first night our bathroom flooded so we needed towels as we used all ours mopping up, i called reception from my phone as the room one wasnt working , they were going to send room services to replenish our towels, they never showed. I called again the next morning so we could shower , still nothing so i ended up going to reception myself and grabbing towels, not a big deal but considering i’d asked twice it was a bit disappointing

This place was a huge disappointment. It was tired everywhere, stained carpet in all the hallways. A combination of bad 70’s furniture with slightly updated bathroom. Breakfast was an unappealing buffet set up in a room of large round tables complete with the tablecloths and crumbs from the wedding reception held there the night before! We valeted our car when we arrived, when we left were handed the keys and told we needed to hunt through the parking lot( in the rain) and find the car ourselves….no indication which of the lots it was in. Lumpy pillows should have been retired years ago.
