The dive operation portion of Buddy's resort was exceptional and the staff are wonderful. The drive-thru pickup is also very convenient. However this is been our second stay at buddy dive and we've asked for a king bed and their idea of a king bed is to push two twin beds together and put a comforter over it so you end up as a couple sleeping in the Great Divide between two mattresses. When I complain this time they put a duvet cover over it which did absolutely nothing. And for the weak air conditioning, and I mean one wall air conditioner for the entire apartment that essentially just keeps the bedroom cool and the rest of the apartment stays hot with not even a ceiling fan, we were told that's just the way it is.

Very convenient resort for diver, drive thru for tank fill up, reef on site and dock for boat dives on site as well, food could be improved and outlets really need to be replaced (room 409) they barely hold anything, they are completely worn out, it was a struggle to charge devices, this is a cheap easy repair that could really improve the room quality.

Ac was only in the bedroom but no AC in the living room making the living room & kitchen too hot to stay in there. Electrical outlets were wore out and would not hold our hair dryer and phone charges. There is not a plug in anywhere by a mirror to shave or style hair. The king size was not a king but two twin put together and the seams rubbing your legs then using twin sheets to cover the bed!

Delightful staff and for a diver, it doesn't get easier or more convenient of an experience. The reef is nice, different than what I expected putting it up against the Red Sea. Different things to see essentially. Red Sea would be more colorful in hard corals and clams while Bonaire has large gorgonians and massive pipe corals where you simply don['t see in Egypt. A very nice 12 day stay. Red Sea would be more of a highly restrictive dive environment. Buddy dive is the polar opposite. Regulation and restriction is at a absolute minimum. Not unsafe, just wonderfully open and free for an AOW diver to simply just come and do his thing. The only negative which almost every hotel falls short on is for longer stays, the beds simply are never comfortable enough. I will return to Buddy Dive when traveling to dive on Bonaire in the future, there is no reason to stay anywhere else.

Don’t expect WiFi access during your stay unless you go to the restaurant. Staff is friendly but service average. Diving was underwhelming due to the destination of the ecosystem by Lion Fish.

There’s no Internet access unless you go to the restaurant and sit down, which was deplorable.

And a warning to divers if that’s your reason for going there, the reef has suffered a lot in recent years, probably due to lionfish and there’s very little to see when you’re diving except for a turtle here and there and a lot of little fish Nothing big to see I’m not planning on going back.

Buddy Dive is right on the water and there are two sets of stairs that lead into the sea for divers to enter and exit easily. The reef is right offshore, and it was fantastic to be able to pick up our air tanks at the dive centre and walk in for our dives at any time of day or night. The dive centre staff are all super friendly and helpful. Blennies restaurant is on site and it is reasonably priced and with good food. You can walk offsite to ice cream and couple of other restaurants, but the town is a bit far to walk. We had a rental truck and unlimited tanks with the dive package so we were able to be quite free with our schedule, which I loved. I also my Advanced Open Water there and had a great instructor. A positive experience all around.

One of the best place to stay in Bonaire. Dive shop, diving and snorkeling right on site is great convenience. Not to mention water taxi to Klein Bonaire is right there too.
Only thing I’d ask to improve is, wifi signal is terrible in room, but public area are ok.

Buddy Dive Resort is top notch and works hard to make sure you have everything you want or need. I am impressed with how helpful everyone has been! The shuttle from Buddy Dive Resort was outside and waiting for me even though the airplane arrived about an hour early. The receptionist helped carry some of my bags to my room, and a tech dive specialist made sure I had everything I need to dive my rebreather. He also was my dive orientation instructor. The room and property are beautiful and well maintained.

The property is a little ways from town. Car rental on site or at airport. Room was generally very nice quiet and tidy. Bathroom had black mold on ceiling and wood rot on door frame that allowed a couple of cockroaches to hide. Kitchen was a great have. Although the kettle was all rusted inside, there was plenty of cook ware and utensils. Bar/resultant on site is expensive and not that great. Went to run runners next door. Still expensive but better food.
Overall I would recommend and return. The staff were great and helpful. Basically the units could use an update but safe and quiet. Great view and direct on beach with access for snorkeling or diving.

Buddy dive resort is a one stop shop resort when it comes to diving. Everything you need is here. If you do not have something- you can rent it or purchase it here. Communication ahead of time to set up boat dives is recommended. Otherwise shore diving is available on your own schedule.

The staff was always pleasant to me and were ready to assist if need..Dive staff, Boat captains and instructors were awesome, very knowledgable, and willing to give pointers or help. I wished the baggage crew had uniforms or a clear ID they work for the hotel cus it was kind of concerning having someone in regular clothes randomly knock on your door on your check out day and ask for your bags..lol.. I wasn't crazy about rusted locks on lockers (Understood why, but the floors were wet and slippery) but the 2 placement areas made them convenient for grab gear and go. The front door and locks for the rooms were very concerning and I questioned if I should've just left the door unlocked like the vehicle we rented for dives to prevent people from breaking the window and stealing items(Yes petty theft is a problem here regardless how the staff down plays it) on the island..The cashless transaction (Bill to the room) and ticket system for some menu and special night non-regular menu items will require you to review your bill like an auditor for the IRS or pay with card to avoid disputes, and confusion on check out.. Other than that this resort is good to lay your head at night and get up early to scuba dive all day..Non-scuba related activities were very limited so if you bring someone non-scuba certified they will probably get bored really quick..This is a Scuba dive only resort if you’re looking for amenities you won’t find much and I would say this place is a tad over priced.

The drive-through to grab your cylinders is great and the whole staff was great. The full kitchen in the rooms are also a good thing to have. My only \"complain\" was that it would have been nice to have complimentary coffee with the coffee maker. Our plane came in late and all the stores were closed so I couldn't buy any. The restaurants do serve coffee so it was no big deal. One great thing that I've never had in any hotel was the awesome complimentary little food bag when we checked out at 5 am with a sandwich and some fruit since like they said everything would have been closed. I thought it was a very thoughtful touch. All in all I would highly recommend Buddy's and will for sure go back (hopefully soon)

They didn’t have our reservation and said that Expedia had not followed through with completing our reservation which was made 6 months prior. They kept us standing around at the front desk for an hour before they told us we had to spend the night at their much cheaper sister hotel for the first night and that we would be in a room at Buddy Dive by noon the next day. We ended up losing a full day of our trip as the room wasn’t ready until 3:00 the second day while we just waited around. The sister resort was significantly “less” than BD (cost was half per night) and when I asked for complimentary breakfast for my husband and myself for the week, I was told no. I was also told NOT to go through Expedia. The dive shop was great. It was tough to get dive tanks due to heavy demand, which is not great when you’ve paid for unlimited tanks. Couple of roaches in our room, one was huge. This was our second trip to Buddy Dive and I would not stay at BD again.

We enjoyed staying at Buddy Dive. We snorkeled at about 10 different places and enjoyed the reef off of the hotel better than a lot of the other places. LOTS of sea life there during our stay. We wish the entire suite would have had a/c not just the bedroom but will definitely stay there again.

Average accommodations with a strong focus on diving. Beds were hard, A/C in bedroom only, very uncomfortable outdoor furniture in the living area, the patio was overrun by mosquitos. I even found a scorpion in my closet!
My wife and I are divers. If you want to do anything but dive this is not the place for you. There wasn't anybody in the swimming pools other than people doing dive training. The pools were filthy, Loaded with feathers and garbage. In the seven days we visited Buddy Dive we did not see anyone clean the pools. As far as the diving goes. The boat dive sites were good but things were very disorganized. They did not separate groups by skill level. They had very experienced divers and jr. Divers on the same boat doing the same dive. There were many dive sites that we could not visit due to the skill level of those on board. A frustrating situation to say the least. There were some great instructors but that's not enough to bring me back to Buddy Dive especially at a premium price.

Comfortable hotel with clean rooms. The dive staff are helpful and knowledgable. There is a drive thru tank pick up and drop off which is very convenient. I would recommend renting a car as part of your package..it ends up being cost effective and they mostly rent pick up trucks which are helpful. We did not reserve one, but I would next time.

Nice place to stay. The staff is super friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The shore/pier diving, truck rental with drive through tank rental, and beautiful coral reefs alive with sea life make this place memoriable. If your expecting up scale, Bonaire is not the place to visit. The island, hotels, local homes, businesses, and people are simple. They do not put emphasis on monetary value. That reason and the spectacular diving is what makes Bonaire special. Ran into several experienced divers who return to Bonaire numerous times for diving. I know we will return and most likey stay at Buddy Dive again.

We rented a pick-up truck and borrowed tanks from Buddy Dive. We logged 12 self-guided dives over 4 days with a family of four. The dive shop at Buddy Dive and drive-though tank service greatly facilitated our adventures.

One of the best scuba place on Bonair. Great snorkeling at and near the resort. Local dive shop is surprisingly reasonably priced. Rooms are large, ok beds but nothing fancy. It is not a luxury hotel. The pools are forgettable, but you will not care unless you have small kids.

Terrific experience all around at Buddy Dive. First I need a comfortable bed and they had them! Some beds in Mexico are like plywood but they had a great memory foam combination. Second the dive operation is amazing. Well organized and great boats, great dive staff that helped in any way you needed. I do wish they had more food inclusive options, the breakfast was alittle expensive I thought. But they have a wonderful place for supper with a very diverse menu and another eating area for lunch or supper with basic food. Rooms have kitchenette so we did do our own breakfast and some sandwiches for lunch. Really helpful staff and great location. Yes we will be back.

Great for Scuba

Buddy Dive is focused on the scuba experience and seems great at that. We rented some equipment and asked for some referrals and they were great.
The hotel part of it could use some updating. The rooms are nice and spacious, and we had a nice balcony overlooking gardens and a sea view. Unfortunately we didn't spend much time there because the building that holds a giant generator made so much noise it wasn't pleasant. The generator doesn't run all the time, and we noticed that the noise didn't reach some of the other areas of the resort. The rooms have actual keys, not key cards, and the key has your room number on it so if you loose it anyone who finds it has easy access to your room. Likewise the safe key. Our housekeeper, Jacqueline was wonderful.
There are two pools, both pretty small. There is a fancier restaurant and a shore-side bar with food. The food at the restaurant was good, especially the salt-encased roast dorado.
The wait staff was wonderful, especially Natania.
The bar food was fine-pretty standard bar food. The Friday barbecue was awful.
There is free wi-fi, but I kept getting security notices from Apple that it was not a secure network.

Buddy's will cater to your diving needs. Beautiful peaceful location, friendly staff, and excellent food. All facilities and boats are modern and comfortable. Only downside is moderate number of mosquitos, and no screens. So, either kill every mosquito in your room or wear repellant to bed.

Nice hotel with pier

Well maintained hotel with own pier. Rooms are large, comfortable, clean.
We are snorkelers. There is a lot of fish here, right off the pier. Highly recommend taking water taxi to Klein Bonaire and exploring island and boat trips with divers. We also liked catamaran snorkeling trip with Woodward (?) company, located in the Flamingo Divi resort. All these trips were arranged from Buddy Dive resort by divers shop staff.
Bonaire is an island mostly for divers. Corals on the shallow places were mostly ruined by hurricanes couple years ago. So there is a lot of fish but not always good corals.

We hadn't been diving in awhile and wanted to go back to Bonaire. It was our first trip to Buddy Dive Resort. The resort is perfect for those who like to make their own schedule. As for the staff, some understand the need for personality; others not so much. Over all they were very helpful.

Dive shop attendees had bad attitudes, allowed inexperienced divers too close to coral, fins and lack of control damaged coral. Night diving was a joke. Area too cloudy to see anything but debris. Charged $100.00 for 1/2 hour. The food was mediocre at best. Service... incompetent.
They did transfer us rooms when we complained about the ants, air conditioner dripping into the electrical outlet, shower leaking into bathroom. They were gracious about that.
Electricity went out 3 times in 6 days.
To rent a car..... they said they didn't have a truck available as it was going into service. The next excuse was that \"their server was down\". They finally gave us a van the next afternoon for the price of a truck... which was nice.

Buddy Dive from the prospective of a non-diver

We needed a 3 bedroom set up that offered A/C and WiFi. We booked the rate to include daily breakfast. What we found was a resort that has seen better days. The rooms are basically furnished, with A/C only in the bedrooms. This leaves the living/dining/kitchen area and bathrooms very warm. We found out that you can't leave the doors open for a breeze unless you want to be eaten alive by mosquitoes (which we were). They was NO inside WiFi. We were told that yes, the WiFi was free but because of the cement walls of the buildings, you can only access it outside on the patios. Even then, sprayed with copious bug spray, reception was spotty and slow.The breakfast buffet was adequate. We did not use the pools- they just didn't appeal. We didn't eat at Ingridients. We did have drinks and popcorn during Happy Hour at Blennies and that was fine. The best part of the resort is the location. My husband and kids snorkeled right off the dock at it was spectacular. The Activities Desk was great, booking us wonderful tours to Klein Bonaire and kayaking the mangroves, and Housekeeping came everyday to clean, refresh towels and make the beds. As we are not divers, I cannot speak to those services. At the rate we booked, I frankly expected more upscale accommodations, but I guess we were really paying for the location (I REALLY wanted oceanfront). If you're not a diver, you probably can do better.

We had high expectations when we booked at Buddy. I am a diver and my friend staying with me was looking to get certified. What better place to stay, right? When we booked the room, we were in the farthest room from everything and our patio door would not shut all the way. This resulted in a room full of mosquitos when you returned from the day. After we checked in, we inquired about diving and were informed that we must have reserved a dive package well in advance in order to certify my friend. The resort does not specify this in any of their information. This was an issue because we specifically went to Bonaire to stay at a dive resort to get my friend certified. The resort also lists that they have an outdoor pool. While this is the case, it would more be classified as a large dirty pool of water that may or may not be stagnant. The room was set up in a way that the bed was underneath the tv mounted on a wall up above. The bathroom smelled of sewage constantly. Overall, we were very unsatisfied with the resort, especially due to the cost. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere while on Bonaire.

Dive trip to Buddy's

Make sure to stay on a ground floor as the steps get exhausting between luggage and dive gear. Don't plan to check in early as you will stand outside and wait until check in time. Our room was not ready on time and we arrived 10:30 am. Buy booze at tax duty free inside airport. This will save u a lot of money! Buy food and drinks from local supermarket Vandertweel. Buddy's does have complimentary breakfast Buffett daily but this is the ONLY free thing you will find here. Fluorescent night dive is a must!! As well as boat dives to Klien Bonaire!!! Captain Dons next door to buddy's has a nice restaurant & the best ceviche!! To eat outside of buddy's take a cab to Karel's on the water by the divi flamingo resort a short distance away. Buy carrots to feed the wild donkeys. The dive gear is not upgraded a lot of rental equipment looks old. The only gear we needed to rent was tanks and weights. The house reef is GORGEOUS to dive! One of my favorites! Dive masters were awesome especially Pasquel and Mark. We had awful pillows!!! Ask for upgraded pillows it is worth a better nights sleep! Watch out for native Bonaire locals! Most are very rude and will try to cut you in lines(airport,supermarket).

Buddy Dive is a great place to stay for divers. They have multiple boats that go out each day which allow for plenty of boat dives. Their packages also include unlimited shore diving which is nice. The house reef is one of the best so it is nice an convenient. The fact they don't charge extra for Nitrox is a nice little savings also. The on site bar is nice and fast to get good food for lunch between boat dives. They don't have a huge variety but what they have is pretty good.

Nice recovery

We arrived late due to a delayed flight on Insel. The first room they placed my dive buddy and I in smelled like sewage (blocked vent pipe likely). We brought this to managements attention and they upgraded us to a nicer room with a beautiful view at no additional charge. The staff was absolutely super all-around. The diving on the house reef surpassed my expectations.I will return.

Great hotel, great island, lousy airline schedule!

The staff at this hotel couldn't be nicer and the accommodations are clean and comfortable. The resort is self-contained, and you could spend your entire trip without leaving the grounds, but it's well worth visiting the sights and other dive/snorkel sights of the island.

Worst thing about the trip was the arrival and departure times of the flights from Newark, which don't coincide with the check-out, check-in times of any hotel, especially one that's fully booked. Arriving at 5:30 AM the staff did what they could to accommodate us, but our room wasn't ready until noon. Being exhausted from the overnight trip we weren't yet ready to jump into activities and spent the morning sleeping at reception.

Great times and very kind people

We really enjoyed our time in this resort. People were incredibly kind and willing to help. DAE, the airline we were traveling with cancelled all flights Curacao-Bonaire and we arrived 1 day late to our vacations. They kept us our room and made sure we got our return flight confirmed with another airline.

Thanks for all your help and for making our stay as good as possible!
