The river view room was small, and toilet wasn’t working and neither was the tv. That stuff happens. However next morning, shower handle fell off…. I expected a little more for the price we paid. I fixed the tv wires and toilet.
I spoke to manager and he knew what room…so clearly that’s been a problem, not fixed. The shower curtain also had mold on it.
Beds were comfy…
It was pet friendly. Thank goodness ,we have
dogs.
Overall, it wasn’t bad and would stay again. Definitely asking for different room.
Restaurant right across the road, real food… not expensive!

This property is aptly named - The Old Mill Motel. I would add one more word to the name, “VERY” Old and it is in need of either tearing down or a majorly expensive update! The only good thing about the room was a comfy bed, when really, if you are on a really tight budget, that’s all that matters. The problem is there is little to choose from in Blind River. The room was clean, but as basic as you can get.
Room 21 appears to be sinking in the middle, as there is a definite slope to the room! The ceiling is also bowed in somewhat, so maybe the building is going to slide into the river right next door!
Arriving at 6:00 pm, the rooms were mostly full and there was no hot water left. The TV remote is useless, except for turning the TV on, which then says “no signal” no matter which button you push.
The bathroom electrical plugs did not function, nor the one near the door. It is ALL very old and dated.
At least with no TV for the evening, I went to bed early and did have a good sleep, allowing me an early get away in the morning. No problem with other guests was noticed in the night. I would not choose to stay in Blind River again.

This motel is currently under construction, and some of the rooms are being renovated. It appeared that people were full time residents living in most of the rooms. Our room did have a working microwave and refrigerator. The furniture and bed were old and in poor condition. The room itself was relatively clean. The wifi did work. The motel is dog friendly and there is a fenced area for your pet. It was very pricey for the quality of accommodations. Parking was free, but that was the only amenity. I would not stay here again.

we had a roof over our heads, hot water eventually and the view of the river was incredible....other than that i rate the place 1 star. Bathtub handle fell off, towels are thread bare, tiny old bar soap, broken shower curtain, one dirty window with old torn curtain. I would rate the raging river 5 stars tho

Definitely great location, that is about the only nice thing I can say!
No heat in the room when we got there. Took at least 3 hours to warm up, we left and went for dinner.
No extra pillows or blankets
When it was time to sleep the light outside or door lit up our room like daylight.
Bed was comfy
Next morning went to use the toilet and wash up .... No WATER!! Called front desk and was told they were working on another part of the motel and shut it off!! No warnings!

Room was clean. Not a great TV Channel Selection. Lights from other units shining in the room all night, need blackout curtains.
Had to fill in my address and other information when checking (all this was provided when I made the reservation). Also had to write down my Driver's License number on the form; I find this very unusual.
Still waiting for my receipt which I need ASAP..

I didn't sleep and left as soon as it started to get light out wouldn't even shower in that old moldy bathroom. Wish I could give it a 0 star rating

Total dump. Expedia shouldn't have this motel on their website if they want any kind of reputation. Paid for 2 nights stayed one place was too dirty to stay 2nd night. Other rooms smelled like bug spray and had exposed wiring.
Our room was dirty, had long hair on towels, stained sheets, a loose toilet that literally wasn't fastened to floor, stains on the curtains and a super bright exterior light to keep you up all night. Paid 150 per night wasn't worth 50.

the room was small and the upstairs shower drained in my tub - totally inacceptable and disguisting. There was noise till 3:10 am making it impossible to sleep and i did NOT feel safe at all. It was a horrible experience.

The room was relatively clean but very old and dingy. The tub and shower area had mold around the top of it but the hot water was plentiful. The beds were not terribly comfortable. There was no screen on the window. There was absolutely nowhere to get any food as all the restaurants are closed and even Tim Hortons was under renovation. The most positive thing would be the beautiful falls and water at the back of the property.

Nothing to like about this Motel. Stay away at all costs!!!
Firstly, I was told the that the room I booked, the Deluxe, King, Lakeview, with Fireplace was "unavailable".
I was offered a very poorly kept double queen room that we could not even consider staying in. They provided a different double queen room which was only very marginally better.
I was not offered the difference in price. The staff advised to follow up with Expedia. When I went to bring this issue to Expedia, they did not offer any compensation either.
The very small room had very uneven floors, carpet was disgusting, wires, ac adapters, cables dangling/hanging all under the TV which was wall mounted up high. Only one chair and the tiniest desk (un-usable), and the chair was broken (like someone put their steel toed boot through it)
Paneling was coming off walls. The bathtub and surround was all cracked and discolored from smoke.
The list of issues is too long to continue.
They charged $182 for this atrocious room when I booked it on Expedia!!!!!
The staff were unavailable in the morning of checkout, so I could not bring a further discussion of my concerns to ask for a refund for the difference.
As stated, Expedia has not been any help either and I will likely not deal with them any more.
Overall, a truly disappointing experience and proves to me, yet again, that customer services is irrelevant and non-existent in these times.
Very sad indeed.

Stay was awful room wasn’t what we expected..the dirt and grease along the one wall and baseboard was filthy..thought as the picture show we would be on the water side no…someone pushed the door screen out they had it taped in..had to find a way to plug the microwave and coffee pot in…air conditioner at first didn’t work I found there was a reset on the air conditioner plug..bathroom smelt like urine. Was just disappointed I mentioned it to the desk clerk he said I will tell them ..I thought tell who he looked in charged..we should have been compensated..

It sits on Blind River beautiful spot. It looked like the floors had been replaced. It was a bed to sleep comfy bed. It was a cold night no blankets to keep you warm. Noisy fridge.
I hope the owner puts some money into it as it could be a little gold mine. I’d stay again if I knew it had been upgraded.

This is north country and they do charge more and offer less. This is a beautiful area in a very small town with 1 Tim Hortons and for that the hotel is mainly used for CN and hydro workers. The rooms are bare bone and somewhat clean the beds are well used and only a couple of thin towels not that we would use the tub but it was a place to sleep and go. No one bothered us.

A nightmare in pink: don't stay here.

The room was stifling when I arrived. To reach the AC at the top of the window, I, a senior citizen, had to stand on a rickety chair. The room was on the 2nd floor. Grudgingly, the landlord helped me carry my luggage up the stairs. Many plastic floor mats along hallways were in poor condition, the ends flipped up: accidents waiting to happen. They need replacing. Freezer section of fridge very thick with ice; obviously not defrosted all season: lazy housekeeping. Decor: 2 shades of pink, very dated match the small pink bathtub. I felt like I had fallen into a vat of strawberry ice cream. The most expensive and terrible motel I stayed at on my trip. Memorable for all the wrong reasons. Of all my road trips, this ranks as one of the worst, if not the worst.

Be careful! This motel isn’t in Manitoulin Island at all! The motel is 150km far away from the entrance of the Island. When I searched the hotel in Manitoulin Island, Expedia website recommended this Motel. It is a trap! Don’t trust the results about Manitoulin Island from Expedia.

The room has a very strong musty moldy smell. Had to get order timber spray to help. The tv was plugged into the bathroom. So you could not shut the bathroom door to use the bathroom. Tape keeping the lamp shade together. Booked a pet friendly room and then was told at check in that I owed the pet fees as they were not included with the room cost, which was not clear at booking

Our booking at the Old Mill got cancelled and we ended up having to go to Spanish River Inn. Rather inconvenient though the staff were kind in making sure the reservation took place. It is a loud location right next to the Highway and the AC is even louder. Neceessary though to cool the hot room and drown out the road traffic.

Would never recommend and would love a refund. Disgusting is a mild term to use for this place. Booked a room for 2 adults since that is what was asked and we needed a room with 2 beds, then our 2 kids walk in and he charged us an extra $35! Same room, same beds, same lack of cleanliness with an upcharge because our kids were with us? We were asked for number of adults. Nasty shack across the road is where he recommended we eat-beyond gross. Thankful for a Tim Hortons nearby. That is the only perk to this area. Stay away!

It’s a trade off. You can’t beat the location, especially if you’re on the river side.Near the centre of town and looking onto the river with fabulous rushing waterfalls at your doorstep. There are even benches outside the room for morning breakfast beside the water.
The room itself is basic but clean and well appointed. Good value for the price. Only complaint is how noisy the AC unit is and the rooms should have blackout curtains as the outside light is on all night.
Otherwise with earplugs and face mask, we slept well in the comfortable beds.

Room was clean. Fridge, microwave worked fine. A/C would have worked fine if we'd noticed we needed to turn it on.

Room was tiny. No closet. Only place to put suitcase was on a suitcase stand, blocking the desk that had the fridge. Managed to balance other suitcase on the desk chair.

Curtains didn't block light and there was a bright light in the parking lot that kept the room well lit all night. Fortunately we brought face masks, so managed to sleep.

Our room faces parking lot, and we could back our car right up to the door. Was convenient for our 1 night. But there was no view of the river from our room like I had expected. I had thought I'd get both, but I guess they manage twice as many rooms but making them small, and facing only parking lot or water.

So did the job, but was complicated to use.

No one was available at front desk and when I walked around back of motel near river door was open for a room that was cleaned and it was rather unsanitary. We had an appointment and could not wait any longer
The lady called us at 10:30 that night to find out where we ended up and remarked that she would still charge us for the room regardless .

We were supposed to stay at the old mill hotel, but they called and said that they had a Water-main break and we’re not able to have people stay there, but when we went by the hotel, the parking lot was full. They sent us to a small town, which was 45 minutes to an hour away, had no amenities. The only restaurant around was a chip truck very disappointed.

Poor interior of room as it was not visually pleasing, a/c did not work. Only one light bulb working in bathroom, the fixture has placement for four bulbs. The owner knocked on my door 45 minutes prior to check out asking if I was checking out or not. I didn’t appreciate the intrusion at all.

The bed was as hard as a rock, it was like someone took a kitchen table put a sheet on it, and called it a bed. Booked two parking lot rooms, and was given one room across the parking lot along the waterfalls, made it difficult when traveling with children… would not recommend this place to anyone! One side of the room had a room full of dogs, the other side had cats along the falls. The room along the falls smelt like moth balls, and was very small!

The TV didn’t work, the fridge wasn’t plugged in. There was an old water bottle from a previous guest behind the night stand table which also had a considerable amount of dust and debris. The smell of moth balls hits you in the face as soon as you open the door.
Large amount of ice build up on the deck as well, no maintenance there.
The price definitely should have been way under $100 per night.

This place is disgusting. The door did not close right so drafty the coffee machine had wrong pot and did not drip the power cord was frayed and burnt and could ketch fire
Bath tub tap came away from wall when turning shower on the towels were hard and scratch my skin the dog area is 10×10 and no phone in room to call front desk
