Beautiful setting. Incredible views. The pool with swim up bar is lovely. The snorkelling from the hotel beach was great - we saw a wide variety of fish and small reef shark.
The only let down was that a few of the staff were unfriendly and a bit indifferent. We had just come from a similar standard hotel in Samui, where the staff had been so incredibly welcoming, so we were a bit disappointed by how unsmiling and disinterested a few (not all) of the staff on reception and in restaurant were.
Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

Lovely resort hotel, beautiful setting, great lodges with all facilities, helpful staff and a convenient shuttle service to and from the main town and pier. Free yoga and other facilities, plus an excellent spa. A fantastic place to stay, but not recommended for anyone with mobility issues - lots of steps everywhere. I don’t think the restaurant was brilliant, though it was fine, so we ate out most of the time. Still a great destination.

The resort is on a stunning tip of the island and the snorkeling is fantastic. This is our main reason for the hotel. The breakfast was good and provided different foods for all tastes. We enjoyed cocktails and the shuttle was handy for any trips to the town. Our room was a little tired and for instance our bedside tables had no sockets near them so unusable. Bed was really comfortable. View from our room was beautiful. Room was very dark and hot. We borrowed a fan as I don't like Aircon when I'm sleeping. All the staff were so helpful and always immediately responsive to any questions. A really relaxing 6 days . The gym looked fab with a view and new equipment in it. Didn't do any classes. Overall a fantastic relaxing resort. Snorkeling off the beach and on the back area of the resort makes this a special resort. Room was beachfront so everything within walking distance. Food was good. We enjoyed. We also enjoyed the adjacent restaurant in the coral view resort.

Nice quiet area and kind staff. Cleanliness of sheets and pillows after a few days could have been better (e.g, noticing stains and replacing pillow covers). Constant power outages which were annoying since A/C would stop working. We returned one night to find the A/C and lights not working. Got solved in the end but very hot whilst waiting and just inconvenient.

The hotel and rooms were amazing. The breakfast and the quality of the food was not very good. It needs a full revamp of the restaurant as its old, dated and the food could be so much better. After dining the first night were it took 45 mins to get our food, we didn’t eat there again, as we went elsewhere where the food was much better.

Booked a garden view room, very neat inside with super comfortable bed, mini bar fridge and kettle. Plenty of stairs around the resort which can be a challenge if you have mobility issues but there is no other option for the hotel plus you get plenty of exercise which is good as the resort restaurant serves delicious meals at very reasonable prices. There is also a mini mart where you can buy essentials.
You do not even have to leave the resort as the snorkeling is right of the beach which is not too busy. One of the best places we have stayed.

This place is slightly out of the way, meaning it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. Some of the best snorkeling on the island having done many tours. A shuttle bus runs all through the day to bring you into and back from town to make up for the distance away from town. I would highly reccomend this place if staying in Koh Tao.

The property is really nice - you are steps away from the beach where you can snorkel and sun tan. We loved our room - however I think it's worth noting that the property is really steep with lots of steps so I'd only recommend this place if you are mobile and fit enough to hike the steps. I also think it's worth noting that getting transportation to town is very expensive so i'd only recommend this property if you a) mostly want to stay at the property your entire stay or b) are comfortable and able to ride a scooter. My partner and I tried to get scooters but the hill to the resort is very steep which left me really anxious. This resulted in us staying at the property our entire stay as the lookouts and number of other sites we wanted to see, were hard to get to, without a scooter. The restaurant food and drinks were fantastic too!

This place is quiet and have a beautiful view but it is not for senior or the faint of heart. To get to the hotel, there are steep roads. At the hotel, there are lots of up and down walkway to get to your room. And lots of stairs. The whole island is great for snorkeling or diving but the beaches are mostly corals. You need a water shoe to go to the beach. This hotel is in a remote area so you need to take taxi to go into town. So be ready to pay. They might still be in pandemic mode because there was no staff at the pool and the front desk only open from 8am to 8pm. They do have emergency number to call if you need anything outside these hours.

Lovely situation, good snorkeling, easy access to the sea, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast OK, limited restaurant menu, many items fried in batter, good selection of well priced cocktails, very comfortable king beds in Delux Beach Front rooms. Resort suffering like most because of the affects of Covid on reduced occupancy for a long period, therefore tired looking. Resort not for anyone with poor mobility as there are lots of steps commensurate with the beauty and ruggedness of the location.

Completely stunning located at a peninsula built in with true respect for the nature and the old exotic threes and flowers. Excellent maintained with top notch service. Great food and service in the restaurant close to the sea. Great value for money and highly recommended. A definite return rate for any guests who are here for the first stay. Can I give it an 11?

If you love snorkeling, you MUST stay here. Sai Daeng occupies a peninsula that has what may be the best reefs in Koh Tao. This is where the dive and snorkeling boats come, but YOU can stay here. The rooms are comfortable and the views are amazing. The included breakfast is excellent. After breakfast, just head for the water (on either side of the peninsula) and enjoy the fish, turtles, rays, coral, and all sorts of interesting sea creatures. The water on the north side was always clear, the water on the south side can get a little cloudy when the wind comes up. This beats \"off the beach\" snorkeling I've done anywhere else in Thailand, Hawaii, Florida, Bali, etc. So much easier not to have to take a boat somewhere.

The food at the resort is excellent, but it's Thai food (which I love, but I'm just saying....). The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is remote from the town. If you're not on a motorbike you will be dependent on the shuttle and taxis. I found no need to leave the resort at all during the 8 days I spent there (I extended twice, I couldn't leave). This was certainly the best snorkeling experience of my life. If you love to snorkel, whatever you need to do, spend a week at Sai Daeng. You won't be sorry.

One warning. The peninsula is on a hill. You WILL need to be climbing steps. If you have problems walking, you'll have to skip this. I'm 74. It wasn't a problem for me, just good exercise. But it might be difficult for some.

My stay was very lovely and I feel like property management runs nicely for traveler since the condition and staff are sufficient and they are helpful. The view is breathtaking and relaxing. The location is suitable for family retreat type because the property is located quite far from night and food markets, but you can do fun activities at one stop like snorkeling and kayaking around beaches and bays. For solo traveler, it is better for you to rent a motorbike from the pier or around busy area, it’s good for you to travel back and forth to enjoy beaches to bays or bays to hill views. Lovely!

Tranquil Location with Excellent Snorkeling

I recently stayed at Sai Daeng Resort for a weekend as part of a longer trip to Koh Tao. This resort is tucked away on a small peninsula on the east side of the island away from the main nightlife area, so there aren't any other shops or restaurants within walking distance. However what you get in exchange is a beautiful resort with its own semi-private beach and several kilometers of an extremely healthy reef which offers some of the best snorkeling I've ever experienced. You'll see huge schools of fish and even sea turtles right inside the bays on either side of the hotel. Despite not being completely open yet due to the COVID situation the hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful and modern while at the same time blending in well with the surrounding nature. I really enjoyed my stay here and would return again for the relaxing experience, warm staff, and superb snorkeling.

However, this is not a 4 stars hotel in terms of services and food.

The breakfast is terrible, old bread and terrible presentation.
The restaurant itself is decadent.

Service is REALLY bad. You are essentially dealing with a bunch of people that barely speak English and there is no \"Management\" to take ownership and oversight. The place is ran by a bunch of incompetent people.

The hotel though seems a tad abandoned. The service is very bad, there’s is “management” in charge and no one knows how to help you out.

The breakfast is terrible. Definitely for 4 stars hotel if you think from a North American perspective.

The customer services is just terrible and it feels like apart of trying to get your money there is not much to this place:
- Not access to any manager ( they apparently have all days meeting and are not available to talk to customers for resolution of issues ) - obviously lying
- They are trying to make you believe only the most expensive rooms are available when anyone that can check online can see it is not the case
- They give you rates that are double of the price of what you find online
- They are not communicating the information they are supposed to the guest upon arrival, and lying about hotels.com communications.
- All the in hotel services are over pricey as they know you cannot go out due to location
- The room photos are not actually what it looks like in reality (and not in a good way)
Just a terrible experience and a big waste of time for what is supposed to be a 4stars establishment.
You can find way better location, view, room, customer services on this beautiful island.

The resort is at a perfect location with great snorkelling spots.
My room was really nice with a fabulous view.
Breakfast was delicious and never went away hungry. There was always plenty to choose from. WiFi in the room was great, but a bit hit and miss in the communal areas.
However, this place is not for people with mobility issues. There’s very steep hills and lots of steps to get around the resort.
The food in the restaurant is good, but it’s a little expensive.
I really loved the pet Gecko that came with the room! He kept me company at night and ate the mosquitoes. Best roomie ever!
Uncle Soon was usually about saying hello to the guests at breakfast and made sure to greet everyone whenever he met them around the resort.

The main thing is that parts of the resort have been left and there’s been no upkeep of these areas. It needs to have a bit of a refurb in these areas soon, otherwise it’s going to start to look very rundown. It’s a beautiful place and it would be a shame to see that happen.

Our stay at Sai Daeng was awesome! The views were amazing and our villa was great! There is quite a bit of walking on steep paths/steps to get around the resort, but we didn’t mind. The breakfast buffet is good, but the restaurant for dinner and lunch isn’t very good. However, we grabbed dinner at the neighboring resort (Coral View) that is just a short walk down the beach and it was great and reasonably priced! We also went into town a lot and ate there. There are tons of restaurants along Sairee beach that are inexpensive and delicious. Our favorites were The Whitening, Cantina, and Cafe Culture. The shuttle times offered by the resort are a bit inconvenient, but you can always get a cab to or from town for about 500-600 Thai baht. If you contact the resort ahead of time they will pick you up from the ferry when you get to Koh Tao. Overall the staff at the resort was friendly and accommodating! I would definitely recommend this place!

Love this hotel,
We stayed here for about 5 days while traveling around Thailand.
It has amazing views and I love how the rooms are set up, it felt like we had our own little house. it is on the side of cliffs so keep in mind it is a decent amount of walking depending where your room is located.
We had rented a scooter and it got us around all week, it was about a 12 minute scooter ride

Most everything you want to be at is, id maybe stay at a hotel closer to there but we didn’t enjoy the scooter and amazing views at our hotel being alittle secluded. we also took a amazing snorkel trip and got picked up right from the hotel beach.

This is the most beautiful resort we've ever stayed in. The beach, the waters, the snorkeling is only rivaled by places we stayed in Fiji.

We stayed in a beachfront room that was just 1.5 flights of stairs of the beach where the restaurant is located. The pool, reception, and parking lot is up about 4 flights of stairs that could wear on some people. If you were at a room on the far side I could see it taking away from the experience.

The main areas of the resort are kept in great condition, the pool, restaurant and rooms are five star. Clean, modern, absolutely fantastic. Bed was the most comfortable we've ever had in Thailand and the view couldn't be beat.

The areas less used appear to be falling into a state of disrepair, buildings that aren't used are dirty, some ponds left to wither away with garbage in them, half full of water and leaves, and the water slide doesn't look like it's been in use in at least a year.

What really knocks the rating down for us, was the absolute absurd and offensive prices for services, food, and drinks. The resort is 15 minutes out of town and cab rides are 500 baht ($25CAD) each way, but that does not entitle management to charge 270 baht for a cocktail (>$10) and 1800 baht for a massage ($75) when going rates anywhere else in Thailand are 250-350 baht for the same thing.

Luckily the resort next door is more reasonable and we spent our money there instead.

One of the best resorts we've been to and unfortunately we wouldn't go back.

Good view, fine tuning needed.

The location and view are beautiful! Make sure you bring water shoes as the beach is full of coral and difficult to walk on barefoot. Taxis to and from the pier will be costly and I don’t recommend renting a scooter as the roads are very steep getting to the hotel. The food was mediocre. I believe with some fine tuning, this resort could truly be worth its cost but would not pay the full price they ask as you will be disappointed.

Koh Tao is an island best enjoyed by the kind of people who possess a sense of adventure and the desire to explore independently. Bring with you plenty of cultural curiosity, an open mind, and a non-judgemental attitude. Because if you leave your western expectations at home, you’ll love Koh Tao... and you’ll also love The Sai Daeng Beach Resort. It's probably fair to say that a reasonable level of physical fitness and the confidence to take to the roads by scooter, will also improve your enjoyment of this spectacular location.

We stayed in beach bungalow D1-2, right on the beach, amongst the trees. It's simple, and perfect for those who travel light. The views are breathtaking, the bed was comfortable, and the sound of the ocean at night will lull you into a deep sleep. This is a good mid-range resort, suited to those seeking a little peace and seclusion. We loved this location. We had no complaints. And we hope to return again.

Really Great beach and location dive school next store is really great. Hotel staff are okay but do not go out of way. Food not exciting could be so much better. But it is the rooms that are key issue are dark and dingy like being in prison especially garden view no balcony or place to sit. At night the light is so limited can’t see much.

Sai Daeng has a lot of potential but unfortunately falls short of being the amazing hotel it could be. A big thank you to Tongta and Baitong on the reception desk who were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the restaurant staff and the quality of food - we had to leave the resort to eat! The rooms are great, amazing views and lots of amenities provided. I’d recommend the hotel for comfort and sea views but the restaurant is poor and it’s a 500baht taxi to the main area (the hotel offers limited free shuttles)

The room was made up every day and all the staff were happy and welcoming. The area was amazing and so beautiful, it was a very relaxing experience and quite isolated. The only bad thing i have to say about the hotel is that one day a load of rubbish was washed up on the shore and it wasn’t cleaned away until another hotel guest started picking it up. Also when wondering around the resort i found a slide that was covered up and clearly not inuse and a very messy smaller beach that had rubbish all over it. But overall i had very good time at the hotel and i would go back.

The stay was great. We were given an upgraded room. What I want to talk about is the excellent service from an employee. There was an employee who works at the docks that was very helpful. Getting on and off your ferry boats can be confusing. Sai Daeng does a great job with this. One employee helped us 5 times even when we were taking the boat to the nearby island to stay at another hotel. He would run to us and tell us where to go. This was very needed as one boat we were the only people on the boat. At one point he went into the local 7 11 and laundry to tell my wife the shuttle had arrived. This was a shutttle for another hotel. He knows all the hotels and all the drivers and helped because he is a nice person. Sai Daeng has the best presence at the docks and this is important because the docks are chaos.

The resort was incredibly relaxing. The staff were by far the best from anywhere I stay don my travels. They were all so friendly and caring. The shuttle service is great for dinner at night time. I would suggest a 3pm pickup for the day shuttle as I wasn't aware there was no shuttle back and it costs 500 to get back from town. Other then that I highly recommend this property and the staff deserve a round of applause!

Lovely location, sea view, on the beach. Great service from staff, including Cherry and the concierge who was there every evening, helping arrange shuttles and anything else we needed.

Tea and coffee in room, though no creamer provided. Free bottled water and snacks supplied daily.

Great resort. These are stand alone rooms. I would give it a 5 star but have dropped to 4 star because: no hot water in shower, didn’t replenish coffee stock and cups etc when cleaning rooms, left my door unlocked twice when they finished cleaning, dinner not good enough for a 5 star but breakfast was great. I suggest dinner at Mae Haad pier, restaurant cafe de sol.
On a positive, private beach and infinity pool great and the location is on a cliff with lots of steps down to the beach. Absolutely beautiful. The rooms themselves are fantastic quality and everything well made with quality. Staff are extremely courteous as it’s in the Thai nature - beautiful people although communicating with some staff there was a language barrier so a bit difficult.
Overall 4 out of 5 stars.
Live the Thai people and the resort. Thanks for everything.

Great hotel on one of the nicer beaches on Koh Tao

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. We had the deluxe beach front villa and it was right on the beach. The room was great, clean and a good size. Best part was you could hear the waves rolling up on the beach all night, you are that close to the water. The facility is really nice as well and it’s fairly big. Be sure to explore around the resort. They have a few really great view points and hidden areas for great photos. The staff here were also fantastic, super friendly and nice. They went out of there way on numerous occasions to help us out with different things during our stay. Breakfast was also include and good. We liked the Thai food options for breakfast. Be sure to rent a scooter to get into town or use the shuttle service as the island of Koh Tao is a great one.

The resort is in the most amazing location, really a beautiful setting on the hillside. Perfect for us although very steep with lots of steps which may be a problem for some. The rooms were clean and comfortable and serviced on request. Snorkeling is really great too right from the resort.
Our only real complaint is the lack of service around the very beautiful pool area.
We only had bar service around the pool on the first day we arrived, thereafter we used the phone at the poolside to call for service even though the sign said the bar should be open. The pool area would be amazing if there were staff around to serve drinks, offer towels, sunbeds and umbrellas. And the resort would make more money! Also it would have been great to be able to order food around the pool like most other hotels offer.

The hotel rooms where beautiful view from the rooms was amazing. Beautiful clear water for diving on both side of the hotel lovely pool . Only complaint would be the restaurant was a bit expensive and it did not have a big range of food or choose from . The small resort next door had a nice beach front restaurant so we ate there most days

Nice relaxing end to a wonderful trip

This was the last place we stayed in thailand and we splurged a little so we could relax the last few days of our trip. Already excited, we arriced and were told they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite! Wow what an amazing room,private pool, giant bed, great views. They also let you rent snorkeling gear for free with a small deposit, so we went snorking which was beautiful. The only small negative we had was the night we went to eat at their restaurant, the food was pretty good but the service was a bit slow and they seemed a bit understaffed. Other than that this is a top notch stay and they really do take care of you. Lastly the stairs are a bit intense but totally doable.

Best Island! Best resort!

We arrived at the resort and they had upgraded us to an ocean view room and it was absolutely stunning. The best view! Room was very clean, bed was the comfiest we had stayed in Thailand. Food at the restaurant was tasty for lunch but we went into town each night for dinner. The free shuttle wasn't a nice touch but the shuttle times were only 2 times a day and slightly inconvenient times. But you could pay 150 B to arrange other times yourself which was cheaper than a cab. The best snorkelling was right on the beach! Free gear and kayaks. Breakfast was tasty! Expensive drinks at the hotel but that's to be expected. Definitely stay here! It was a honeymooners dream :)

Amazing sea views but shame about bar/restaurant

This place is so beautiful, has amazing sea views and access to the beach. The rooms are modern, spacious and clean. The staff are all really friendly. Sadly the resorts beach bar/restaurant was chaotic. We ordered two meals, one came over an hour after the other and was a salad!! When asked where the meal was the staff didnt seem to make much of an effort to work out where it was. I know this place is new so they are maybe still in the process of finding their system. The food wasn't great either, atleast for the cost and breakfast was poor. The beach bar at the resort next door was much better for speed of service and value for money.

Ein altes und heruntergekommendes Resort. Die Preise für die alten Zimmer sind unverschämt. Das Internet ist extrem langsam und fast unbrauchbar. Braunes Wasser im Badezimmer unterstreicht den schlechten Eindruck. Alles ist alt, defekt und schmutzig. Wer nicht gerne viel Treppen steigt, sollte ein anderes Hotel wählen. Keine Empfehlung!

사이댕리조트 자체도 깔끔하고 사장님이 에어컨, 티비, 침대, 어매니티 등등 , 다 좋은 것들로 채운 리조트이다! 레스토랑 조식이 특히나 맛있다. 정갈하고 깔끔한 요리가 아주 좋았다. 레스토랑 음식, 풀바 음료도 다 맛있었다.
무엇보다 스노클링을 좋아한다면 물놀이가 좋다면 여기를 추천한다. 숙소 앞쪽 사이댕비치 = 낮은 산호초, 스노클링하거나 카약타기 좋고
뒷쪽 힝남베이는 섬 최고의 스노클링 스팟이라고 불리울만 하다.
힝남베이에는 오후에 가면 물이 차서 입수하기 쉽다(오전에 가면 미끄러운 돌을 밟고 내려가야 해서 힘듦) 큰 산호들이 많고 물고기들도 많고 가오리도 볼수있다.
수영장이 넓고 바다가 보이고 선베드도 많아서 물놀이 하기 너무 좋다.
좋은 곳이었다.

Très bel hôtel avec vue splendide sur Shark Bay

Très belle chambre et très belle vue tant de la chambre que partout dans le resort.
La piscine à débordement sur la mer est superbe.
Petit déjeuner copieux et varié, le restaurant en revanche est moyen: cuisine plutôt fade pour touristes et chère par rapport aux prix thaïlandais mais très abordable quand même !
L’hôtel est situé sur un promontoire, d’où la vue, il y a donc beaucoup d’escaliers et de chemins pentus pour accéder à la piscine, à l’accueil ou au restaurant selon où est située votre chambre.
Un service de navette gratuite est disponible depuis le port quand vous arrivez ou vers le centre ville, il faut réserver d’avance car le nombre de places et les créneaux sont très limités par rapport à d’autres hôtels qui ont des navettes plus régulières.
Dernier point: accueil cordial et souriant, le personnel est adorable !

Overall okay, location and views really nice. We stayed 3 nights and had a Deluxe ocean view room which was okay, balcony wir beautiful view, but no sun umbrella or similar. Breakfast buffet good, but Nescafe only so nothing if you like good coffee. Dinner was a bit disappointing so we went other restaurants. Sandy beach, sea grass and plankton blooming, so not good conditions for snorkeling. Pool was closed due to problems with the pool water cleaning system, however Staff friendly and helpful

Var en fin vistelse. Blåsigt de dagar vi var på plats så det var ganska lyhört in till rummen men annars har vistelsen varit bra. Hotellet börjar också vara till åren och viss renovering skulle behövas men det störde inte vår vistelse desto mera. Vi uppskattade också att de ordnade skjuts både till och från piren på Koh Tao (både gratis och till en liten kostnad). Väldigt trevlig och tillmötesgående personal. Maten som de serverade i restaurangen var vi också nöjda med :)

Luft nach oben. Während Corona waren wir schon da. Da haben wir über in die Jahre gekommenen Liegen am Pool und Strand hinweg gesehen, aber schimmelige und kaputte Liegen dürfen bei diesem Preis nicht mehr sein. Es wird auch nichts gegen Moskitos unternommen. Sobald die Zimmertür geöffnet wird, wird man attackiert. Viel Luft nach oben. Lage ist super!

Bellissimo punto mare, spiaggia pazzesca e ottimo per lo snorkeling.... Come direbbe Barbieri \"vale il viaggio\". Struttura un po' datata e assolutamente lontana da un resort 4 stelle, soprattutto in considerazione del prezzo esorbitante rispetto a tutte le altre strutture dell'isola. Lettini e ombrelloni da rinnovare, lato snorkeling da rinnovare, spiaggia non esclusiva e con 5 ombrelloni totali (chiunque può venire in motorino e affittare l'ombrellone a 100 bath)! Un resort dovrebbe essere più esclusivo nei servizi al cliente. Ristorante non malvagio ma caro, infatti conviene andare 20 metri più in là a quello del coral view diving che costa la metà ed è molto più carino come atmosfera. Piscina a sfioro carina come idea ma insensata con un mare così.. E comunque da rinnovare e tenere meglio! Personale gentile. Ribadisco però che mare e spiaggia perdonano qualunque mancanza...

Schöne Anlage aber hat Potenzial nach oben

Das Resort ist teilweise schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen
Unser Zimmer war Top gelegen (Strandnähe mit Strandblick) aber die Klimaanlage ist sehr alt und sehr laut (Nachts hatte man entweder Lärm oder man schwitzte)
Das WLAN ging nur ab und zu.
Am hinteren Strand tauchten am Nachmittag betrunkene Männer auf so dass meine Frau (ist aus Thailand) richtig Angst bekommen hat.
Sehr schön gelegene Anlage aber man muss sehr viel Treppen gehen.
Achtung Taxi lieber selbst buchen als über Rezeption ist günstiger.
Essen im Restaurant war gut
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Wir verbrachten 5 Nächte in diesem wunderschön gelegenen Resort, etwas abgelegen, jedoch trotzdem ein
idealer Ausgangspunkt, um die Insel zu erkunden. Roller kann im Hotel ausgeliehen werden. Für Gehehinderte allerdings auf der Grund Lage am Berg nicht geeignet.
Frühstück sehr gut und abwechslungsreich, Zimmer immer sauber, sehr freundliches Personal. Toller Pool mit Bar, Meerzugang auf zwei Seiten möglich. Super zum Schnorcheln.
