We were due to stay in one of the beach front Tree Houses a couple of weeks ago when we stayed on Koh Rong. We were incredibly excited after seeing this place advertised on a youtube blog!

I cannot fault the staff, they very accomodating and helpful.

The bar and beach area is nice.

The room however, was a disaster.

There were slats missing on the steps up to the bungalow.

Repaired holes in the floor, where you could see all the way down to the beach! Also unrepaired holes in rotten wood under the bedside table. This did not fill me us confidence!

It then got worse..

The bungalow is not sealed so all sorts can get in.

There was foliage growing through into the bathroom ceiling.

Bugs on the bedsheets.

One flimsy pillow each.

Stained bedsheets and pillow cases. Blood and god knows what.

The mosquito net was gross and dirty/dusty and filled with bugs.

The toilet didnt shut.

All the bathroom tiles were cracked with weird stains down the walls.

Black hair all over the floors.

Half drunk water bottles with juice in the tea and coffee area.

Im not sure the room gets cleaned at all between customers.

The view however is incredible. But sadly this did not make up for the lack of cleanliness and deception from the photos.

This place needs some love to be brought up to a decent standard.

We couldnt stay here and ended up getting a refund... for a few pounds more.. we left and found somewhere on Coconut Beach called Amor. Amazing.

Staying at Tree House Bungalows felt like stepping into another world, but what truly made it special was the manager. He was absolute heaven.
In a place that’s remote and wild, having someone so attentive, kind, and on top of everything made all the difference. He anticipated needs before we even had to ask and handled everything with calm care and professionalism.
You can tell he genuinely cares about every guest’s experience, and that kind of energy transforms a stay into something unforgettable.
If you love monkeys this place has daily visitors, some of the bungalows need renovating however expect this in more then 50% of places on the island. Wifi is weak throughout the island. The beach is perfect for snorkelling or for lounging around. The restaurant/bar on the premises has pretty good options and food is cooked well, prices are fair would come back to treehouse bungalows in a heart beat.

Overpriced for quality of room. Very smelly bathroom and generally dated furniture. This place needs a refresh for the price. Staff were great when monkeys came and took over our balcony - got rid of them promptly. Location is good - quiet but not far from the main beach and restaurants.

Don't come here if you want 5 star. The rooms are not great basic is the best way to describe them.
No TV, internet in the room not great and not all rooms have a sea view because of the trees.
That being said the staff are professional, caring and just so nice.
If you are looking for a place that has wild life on the balcony. Monkeys, lizards, frogs and birds this is the place.
The island is beautiful people are amazing and it's so cheap.
Staying at the tree top resort was amazing probably the highlight of my stay in Cambodia apart from Anchor wat.
I would stay there again in a heartbeat, beautiful people.
Chilling at the bar next to the sea, short walk from the main part of the island.
Just perfect.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very Disappointing Stay – Dirty and Unsafe

I would not recommend Treehouse Bungalows. The place was dirty and poorly maintained -the room looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. The surroundings also felt unsafe, especially at night, with little to no lighting or security presence. For the price, I expected at least basic cleanliness and a sense of safety, but unfortunately, this stay was very uncomfortable. There are definitely better options nearby. Staff were lovely .

Treehouse Bungalows is one of the older original properties on Koh Rong. It does need a bit of TLC and could do with an update - particularly for bathrooms in the bungalows. The water was discoloured and the drains were smelly, particularly after heavy rain. We booked two bungalows for 6 days. We found bugs on the mattress in one of the bungalows and made the management aware. They changed bungalows for us but the alternate bungalow was much smaller and had a bad mosquito problem. :(

On the upside, it does have a lovely, immaculately clean swimming pool, which is open in the afternoons. The main part of the pool is quite deep as it's used for scuba dive training, which is something to be aware of if you are there with kids. There is however a small, shallow pool that they could play in. The beach is also nice and staff at the restaurant are kind and attentive. It is a short walk - 5-10 mins to a load of restaurants, bars and shops but is still quiet at night time, which is nice. They also pick you up and drop you off to the main pier by boat, which is nice.

Be aware that you have to pay in cash for the accommodation, so make sure you bring enough as there are no ATMs on the island You can pay your restaurant bill on a card though.

The resort is in a corner of paradise and the tree house was spectacular. The resort is quite tired and requires some updating but not too spoil the ambiance of the resort. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant food was ok. Beautiful beach and location for watching sun rise. Easy walks either side of the resort to other bars and restaurants.

Bungalows are in an ideal location with sea views. Short walk one way to the main shopping/restaurants/Pier area and the other direction is a beautiful beach.
The manager was great and was always helpful and friendly as were all the staff. The restaurant served the best food. Rooms are spacious but could do with a little maintenance. The pool was under maintenance and nobody was able to use it. For some reason the bins never got emptied and also the WiFi wasn’t brilliant unfortunately. But apart from that it’s well worth a visit.

The bungalow is not joined to another one.
Detached so no noise from adjoining rooms like you get with hotel's.
Breakfast is by the sea with an amazing view listening to the calm waves.
It is situated near to the bars, restaurant and shops.

Stayed in a treehouse. They are rustic but also very dated and in need of a refurb. It looks like work may be about to start on that soon though. Disappointed to see the amount of rubbish in the water, mainly plastic waste.
The accommodation is very rustic but also very basic but I would recommend people visit.

Was a good experience, and was as clean and accommodating a treehouse can be. Lovely beaches only a short walk away. Cons could be that food is a bit more expensive and not as good as restaurants around the pier. Would also need to get used to the sight of small bugs and critters in and out of the room

The Resort needs a makeover. I appreciate its a treehouse with an amazing view but our bungalow (T5) had holes in the floor, no hot water, leaks in the roof (during the beginning of rainy season), noisy fan, dripping aircon unit, blocked drain in the very dated and rundown bathroom. Its overpriced for what it is. We had two meals there, the second was a breakfast with two dishes having hollandaise sauce - it was a unique taste. The pool will bring an added draw, when its finished. Take a torch, its remote and not the smoothest of paths to and from.
Service was timely when used, the door lock is a padlock which meant we couldn't lock the door at night, we used our back packs. A dog sometimes slept outside our door too, harmless but just to let you know. Take mozzie spray, there seemed to be more in this resort area than anywhere else. Very responsive when an additional pillow and sheet were requested. Toilet paper, toothpaste/brush and shower gel are all supplied in the rooms. We enjoyed the experience but wouldn't stay here again for the price we paid. It was somewhere to sleep and shower.
One more thing is that there were individuals playing on their electronic devices on full volume most of the time in the communal areas, It’s not a good vibe or very relaxing for guests.

Whilst our stay was nice our treehouse bungalow was in major need of renovations. The view was awesome but the white ant ridden bungalow was not. The shower was over the toilet with very minimal space Would I stay again in a treehouse bungalow ?? I’d definitely be making sure the bathroom has been renovated

We stayed for four days, Jan 11-15/24.

What did we like:
1. Mr. Bangladesh, the Manager is awesome!
2. We had breakfast at the house Restaurant twice and both times it was good.
3. Location is fantastic! Literally you are on the beach.
4. You are not located downtown so it’s quiet. It’s a 15 minute walk to town.
5. The price was very reasonable.
What you have to get used to:
1. Internet is not great.
2. They are running on a generator and as a result it goes down for service twice a day for a total of 3 hours.
3. We had no A/C the first night. The second night the water pump failed but it was fixed by morning.
4. We found mould in our washroom. However our friends did not have that issue in their cabin.

The location was great and they did start to keep the beach areas clean but not on our first day. Some of our group had rooms that were very run down and had to move. Staff accommodated them and things got better. My room was good but staff never came to clean or empty the trash at least.

The property is picturesque. The people are beyond friendly.

This property was perfect for my girlfriend and I who are beyond the hostel days but not quite into the exclusive bougie resort phase of our lives.

Many of the other bungalows and guesthouses blare loud dance music. Tree House Bungalows is just around a small point from that noise, yet still a five minute walk along a white sand beach to the village of Koh Touch. Treehouse plays lounge music during the day and I appreciated that very much.

Cool beachfront treehouse stay

It was exactly as described! A treehouse stay which was beachfront and central to the main beaches and dining area. You can't beat sleeping to the sound of the beach waves in the morning. I would definitely come back!

Resort under renovation

The restaurant waiting staff made this place special, always friendly, helpful. The treehouse was a little dated and needed some repairs, but they were renovating the treehouses around it at the time, so ours was perhaps one of the last to undergo repairs. The resort is receiving renovations all over, so expect a little noise and disruption to your stay. The walkways were being cordoned off and wooden floorboards ripped up at Reception as we were leaving. Even so, it didn’t particularly affect our 3 days stay. I expect it will be a lovely resort once finished.

Unique & Beautiful Location But It Has Its Cons

We stayed in a bungalow (T2) on the stilts right on the edge of the ocean. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. The common services and restaurant were great.

If you are prepared for a roughing it/camping experience with plenty of bugs this is the place for you. (I would prefer to actually stay in a tent on the beach next time.)

Pros:
Absolutely unique and beautiful location, waking with the sunrise and the sound of ocean waves with a balcony overlooking the ocean.

Cons:
-Public pathways under the bungalows. Was awoken almost every night multiple times between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM with drunk people deciding to hike back to their resort or beach with music playing and in some cases sit right under our bungalow talking loudly and smoking. This island seems to be for backpacking and partying and not having any regard for other people on the island.

-Mosquito net + liberal amounts of mosquito/bug spray did not prevent bug bites from occurring all night and every night. (Not sure what type of bites these were as they were not your standard mosquito bites that leave an itchy bump but rather clusters of hard red welts on various parts of the body when waking up.)

-When we asked for a cabin clean (you have to ask), they made the bed, rinsed the bathroom down, but did not change the towels or linens. We just rolled with it rather then complain or try to rectify it.

-Loud Music, not sure, but 2 of our nights the base from somewhere was a constant background to trying to sleep.

Te bar and restaurant is very nice , the staff is lovely, especially Davor , the bungalow is basic, with one big bed with a net ,fan and a bathroom, nothing else. Needs a refurbish..
For me,as solo traveller was good enough. The location is very good. The perfect spot for relaxing. Is a beautiful island..
The resort is 10 min away from the Village(walking).
The only problem is with the cleaning..they always forgot to come to make up my room.

Excellent tree house overlooking the water.
Could use more bench/storage space inside.
Don't hang wet swimwear outside overnight. It'll get stolen, like mine!
Bring repellent otherwise the mosquitoes will carry you away at night time.
Otherwise a really chilled out place to stay.

Treehouse Bungalows Koh Rong... Where to beginning?
Let's begining by saying that you really should NOT STAY HERE if you are hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable time.
When you first arrive at the \"resort\" you'll see that it is in fact a construction site! With a few bungalows strewn about.
We arrived the reception hoping to get a Bungalow that is in one of the few areas not dominated by construction work... We weren't... We were in the thick of it, we literally had to walk over construction materials to get to our Treehouse bungalows, very very unsafe!
The bungalows itself was pretty run down and badly needs refurbishing. There are no bedsheets either, you get a sheet to cover the mattresse and some dodgy looking blanket (I really doubt they ever clean them).
After the first night we realised that it was only going to go down hill from here, we found out that the workers had setup.their HQ right underneath our bungalows, so not only did we get woken up at 7am by the cement mixer ( it was 5m away but felt like it was running inside the bungalow!) and water pump, you also get to enjoy the local culture listening to the workers chitchat away right below your bed! Good morning!
When we told this to the women at the front desk (a Russian/Eastern European women) she was totally unhelpful, we asked if she could do something about it, she said would, we never heard back from her. Very unprofessional. Unfortunately we didn't have the funds to change resort so we had to power through.

Only stayed one night as was waiting to stay at white beach bungalows, booked a cheap room which apparently was right back from the beach in the jungle....paid another 50 odd bucks for a bungalow on the beach. Woke up very early to watch sunrise, best bit for me Food was ok in the morning

Great stay at Tree House

We stayed at the Tree House two years ago...and they have made it much nicer now. The restaurant is much larger, they have added an attractive bar and huge wood deck...and they have greatly improved their food. For my money, this is far and away the best choice.

Mixed feelings about this place. Pros: beach with lounge chairs, restaurant was good and the guy in the red shirt (every day he was wearing a red tshirt) who worked at the restaurant had great service. The bungalows had there unique charm and it was generally quiet. Cons: blonde lady at reception was impossible to get a hold of, took 2.5 hours to check in, the construction of the bungalow was not very comforting. Very slanted and looked liked it would collapse (maybe the newer ones are better and more level). The door and window closures do not match up allowing lots of bugs to enter, mosquito net had holes and the bathroom sink detached from the wall. It's ok for a couple of nights but don't expect much.

It is very nice place to stay but far too expensive. There are several constructions ongoing everywhere around and plastic trash is everywhere. Bungalows are extremely basic and completely open so you can expect hundreds of ants inside :)
But restaurant is very good and stuff very friendly.

Daily power cuts, no WiFi and expensive!

Unfortunately we didn't have the best stay at Tree House and I would not recommend staying here. We are 2 months in to a 9 month trip and this was the most expensive place we have stayed by far (over double the amount we have been paying) it was also the worst. I found the hotel receptionist very unapproachable and borderline rude. Although the bungalows are in a beautiful location it was ruined by the level of construction going on in the resort - there was also plastic everywhere! The bungalow itself was extremely basic, much more basic than what we have been used to across Asia with a large bed, fan and a cold shower. In terms of size the bungalow was very big and the bed was also large and comfortable, however the comfort of the bed didn't account for much when we had to endure hours of power cuts daily and during the night with no fan. With so little natural light it was extremely annoying to have no electricity. Our bungalow was also right at the bottom of the resort meaning we had to climb up rocks in the dark. We were unable to lock our door from the inside due to subsidence of the frame which also meant a big gap was left in the doorway allowing all sorts of critters to enter. The restaurant area was lovely as were the restaurant staff, the food was also good but there was no Wi-Fi which meant having to go elsewhere to access signal - again something I wouldn't expect for such an expensive place.

Overall a nice place to stay. A cute but basic bungalow. Clean room but seemed to have a problem with ants since it is so open. A little hot during the day but cools down at night. Was a very late check in at 2pm.
