Dislike:
1) carpark is too far at Low Yat Plaza - it was raining during 1 of the days and we could not find any umbrella to borrow
2) rude kitchen staff during breakfast - a big Indian guy serving at the eggs counter was very rude to my son by shouting at him to wait for his turn even though my son did not shout/demand anything - such aggressive behaviour will cast a bad impression on tourists and local guests.

Highly disappointed stay

Very noisy at night... the pub played loud and heavy music till about 5 am. Very hard to sleep.
The toiletries are very limited.
Some of the light bulbs need to be replaced.

Overall ok but frustrated about the parking.yes it's free but I have to put my car at other building and have to claim up 3story parking lot up to shopping complex than walk for about 59meter to lobby.what happen if we have 3@4 big bag how.

Room Air-conditioning not working

Room air-conditioning was hardly working during my stay. Thankfully, I only stayed a night and the beds were comfortable enough. Room furnishings were rather simple and sparse. Toilet floods when you drain the tub. Otherwise, location was excellent and breakfast was good.

Location wise very strategic within Bukit Bintang area but hotel locations too old and their Chinese restaurant interior design very old needs huge renovation to revamps overall outlook. Besides hotel is in Plaza Lowyat which very troublesome for us when raining have to drag our luggage over to opposite building. Hope they can make tremendous improvement on this.

It was good however there were issues with the WIFI as it continually had to be reconnected and where my room was located WIFI was not consistent.
Also my room was above BBPark local bar area loud music up to 4am was being played making it very difficult to get to sleep.

The Federal Hotel is ideally placed in the centre of the city, in walking distance of many attractions, including the Petronas Towers. the Hotel is also very close to both the old and new train stations with taxis costing hardly anything between each. The city bus tour goes from the street corner only 1 block from the hotel and on the opposite corner is the beginning of the main tourist bar street and markets. the hotel is well appointed, with a grand entrance, and well furnished rooms, even the budget rooms. A bonus was the hotel has plenty of quiet public space so I was able to meet clients with ease. The pool area is lovely, the pool is clean with a lifeguard on duty, and you can see the Petronas Towers from the poolside.

The staff was very friendly room is clean however slipper and toothbrush wasnt provided we had to call to get one.
The Refrigerator in the room is making too much noise that we had to off it.. hope that the management can do some upgrading soon..

However the wifi in the hotel is really good .. overall a comfortable stay.

The room was awful dirty with dead cockroaches on the wall . i have showed the picture at the reception but look like they don’t care .rusty washroom broken hand shower for toilet bowl ,which i have complain they fixed but nobody came to wipe the flooded water. no towel at the washroom .final word the room was not ready for guest .i had booked with the option of double bed ,they gave me 2 twin beds but the website has both. i went to talk to reception offer me another one twin size bed for me and my wife. i had no option to upgrade with some extra money to deluxe room . in one word the experience is awful not recommend fellow future travellers. PS. for inquiry i have photo available .

I would not recommend this hotel

I hate having to pay extras to the hotel when I thought I had paid the full price on the internet, 300 on arrival and 40 on departure for 4 days. The hotel is located on a street full of small hotels accommodating to itinerant workers. The standard room is smaller than the cabin on my last cruise. The staff on all levels are indifferent to customers and just get on with their job.

Federal Hotel is exactly what it was like 20 years ago and that statement rides along the thin line between the good and the bad.

Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive just like it was when I was a child. However, that's where the good point ends. Room cleanliness was sub par, there were clumps of dustballs, crumbs of potato chips and other random bits and pieces all hidden in the corners of the room.

The bathtub was stained and brown, there wasn't a proper stopper to plug the tub, cups were stained as well.

I love the hotel. I love it's location, I love the nostalgia and I can look past all these stuff but I can't get over being visited by roaches.

Federal's location in Kuala Lumpur is awesome. The Bukit Bintang Area is full of clubs, restaurants and malls. The Jalan Alor Foodstreet is just a 3 munutes walk away. Most attractions like the Petrona Twin Towers, Hindu temple in the Batu Cave and Aquarium are nearby. The Federal Hotel is very nice with an exceptional service minded staff, cozy nightclub and 3 restaurants. I encourage everyone to have breakfast at The Federal. It's huge and your stomach will feel full till in the evening...hahaha

LUCKILY WE STAYED ONLY ONE NIGHT!

The hotels obviously did not prepare for our arrival. Firstly, they gave us one room when we booked 2 rooms. How to sleep in 2 single beds room when we have 4 adults? The staff obviously did not observe that 4 persons were standing right in front of his counter.
The check-in staff put the blame on us, saying we booked twice under a different name. How can that be when we have only one account and we paid only once. When I showed him the booking email I printed out, then did he realized his mistake.
To get a superior room, they wanted us to wait for an hour, telling us our room is not ready. How can that be when the check-n time is 2 pm and now is already 3.30pm!
Instead, they even wanted to separate us into 2 rooms at 2 different level! Obviously, this hotel does not understand what is traveling with a family.
Not a word of apology from the staff and the manager throughout.
The 30 minutes of check-in totally ruined our holiday mood! I have been to holiday for more than 30 times in the past 15 years, this is the first time that such thing could happen.

1. Know what I saw in the room? strands of hair on the pillow and at the bathroom floor trap. It says so much about their cleanliness.
2. The hotel has no slipper, but we saw other hotel guest wearing. When we asked for slipper, they told us they ran out of slipper. I lost my words after.

I usually stay here every September and enjoy the hotel but this year despite being upgraded to a suite my stay was spoiled by noisy neighbours talking and laughing all night long, kids running and shouting in the hallways till 12.30am and then the last day of a seven day stay the workman started up with a power still below us. The lobby and pool are great but the walls in the rooms are too thin and the doors to wardrobes and the bathroom squeak and bang.

Staff friendly but a bit on the slow side to brings drink orders. Although the room was clean they could do with a bit of updating/decorating. The bed was very hard so not very comfortable, my husband put the pillows on the bed to sleep on top of! Staff were very caring and helpful when my husband became unwell.

On entering the Federal Hotel I was very surprised . The Hotel has much more class than I had expected. The reception is on the first floor with marble everywhere. The receptionists were very friendly, helpful, efficient and pacient. The corridors to the bedrooms are wide and noise eliminating . My bedroom (I had received an upgrade to a superior room) was large and comfortable with an extra area for wardrobe, basin and tea/ coffee making. It was a pleasure to stay at the Federal!
