I was asked to wait 10mins during check out so that the staff can check the room. I was told to sit at the lobby area to wait for an update.
After 10mins or more, I went back to the Recep to get an update but the staff that was assisting me earlier is not there.

Room:
The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and even with a roll-away bed added, there was still ample space for three plus-sized adults. Everything was spotless, making our stay relaxing and comfortable.

Service:
Check-in was smooth, and the staff were polite and welcoming. The bellhop was helpful and friendly. Special mention goes to the chambermaid, Diana, who was exceptionally attentive. She thoughtfully provided an extra pillow for my father without being asked and always kept the room clean and fresh. Her warm smile and care truly enhanced our stay.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was delicious, with a good daily variety of local Malaysian and international dishes.

Location:
The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the shopping district, surrounded by malls. A monorail station is just a 1-minute walk away, Jalan Alor is about 10 minutes on foot, and Berjaya Times Square is directly opposite, making it an ideal base for shopping, dining, and exploring Kuala Lumpur.

The room is very nice and well appointed and the property is well looked after. Breakfast has a huge variety to suit many tastes and I note there is also some changes in that different dishes are offered each day. The location is very handy to walk to shopping areas nearby and to catch the monorail to places. Two downsides are firstly the street noise outside can be noisy at night time that might affect sleep. Secondly, even though my Expedia booking said Expedia will cover the toursit tax (in event of being a foreigner) I had to pay the amount at check in. I think there should be better communication and training for reception staff to he aware of the policy if the booking has been made via Expedia which says they will cover the amount in case of foreign traveller. Since the fee was small (20 RM) I dont worry about it but it should not have happened. That and the street noise makes me think a little bit about whether to book here again even though many other factors in the hotel are very good. It is for these reasons I rate the hotel as good overall rather than excellent.

Only 2 of the 4 lifts working. One took me to wrong floor 2 times! Rooms are very tired place badly needs refurbished. Staff were super nice and helpful. The buffet in the lounge was poor, food left out too long and repetitive from day to day.

The hotel service was excellent. The room thermostat was likely not working, and the aircon was extremely cold even at the highest temperature setting. After the hotel technician had a look at the aircon and confirmed the problem, we were given the choice to change room. We chose to stay however, and the hotel staff obliged blankets and douvets (we ended up with 3 layers by the time checked out!)

If you are looking for a central KL location that is within walking distance to Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor, TRX mall then I would recommend this hotel.

Don't expect much from front desk. We booked for a King size bed and upon check in was advice only twin beds were available. We asked if they could push the twin beds together and make it into a King bed. They were unable to due to the layout and a fixed table between the beds.

We requested to be moved to a King bed for the remainder of our stay. This was provided but with some delay due to house keeping. The second room had urine smell on the floor and when asked to clean it. House keeping just sprayed cleaning product in and around the toilet and left it as is.

Hotel has been refurb, but shower fixtures like the hand shower were leaking when in use. Tiles in shower were stained. Looking a bit tired and need replacing of fixtures. The iron didn't have a steam function.

Beds and pillows are comfortable and air conditioning worked well.

The hotel staff are friendly, they provide excellent service and the rooms are impeccably clean. However, the quality of food and the service on the restaurant side is a different story. This hotel may not be a great fit for westerners especially for meat eaters. While there are a lot of selections for the breakfast buffet, there is barely any meat dish available. The buffet is heavy on carbs and vegetables. There's an everyday cheese or chicken sausage and some cold cuts, very bland. That's it for the meat option. There's also some type of Indian chicken dish, but if you're used to having bacon or pork sausages, you won't find it here. The quality of the food is also questionable as there are mornings where the food is visibly left over from the day before with veggies wilting and visible oxidation and food is cold from the fridge. Even the scrambled eggs are cold...fridge cold. There is a noodle and congee station but this is rarely staffed. In our 5 days there, I never once was able to order anything from this station as there is no staff that mans it. Even the afternoon cocktails selection isn't that great and the bartender is always missing. It's very hard to order any kind of drinks.

Disappointing Experience

Front Desk Service: The front desk staff demonstrated poor service during check-out. We were asked to wait for 10 minutes while they checked the room for additional charges, but we ended up waiting over 30 minutes. When we approached the reception to inquire about the status, the staff casually informed us that everything was fine and that we could leave. It turns out they had forgotten about us entirely. This level of service is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard.

Food Quality: The food at the restaurant was subpar and lacked quality or flavor. For the price and reputation, we expected much better.

Swimming Pool Hygiene: The swimming pool area was highly disappointing. It was crowded with guests dressed in ordinary clothes instead of proper swimwear, which is extremely unhygienic and unappealing.

Recommended by friends and family. Super accessible hotel, walkable to many malls and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Great view of Berjaya Times Square from the window. Room service food was delicious. Had the lamb and watermelon juice.

Only small downside was there wasn't a bathtub in the room. Which was quite surprising for my wife and I. Not sure if they do have rooms with bath tubs. Will come back soon and request.

First time staying at Melia Kuala Lumpur. Service staff seems to be nice at the same time seem disengaged with the visitor. We can feel them talking to us but seem robotic. Room was spacious and clean. The TV is really too small for the room really cannot see but then there will be those who say you are on holiday not to watch TV. Try to do so when it is pouring outside with local tropical storm and of course if you use iPad or laptop. If can use the wired network use that as it is faster speed and they have network cable in drawer. Met the GM Mr Alba in the lift on the way down to breakfast he seem to nice and doing his rounds to meet the clients staying there seem nice and much more engaging than the front desk. Toilet paper for those who use it instead of the bidet is super thin. Water pressure in shower room is almost non existent too low so need longer to shower. Corridor and room lights are not very bright.?Location is great many places within walking distance. Breakfast is decent with local Nasi Lemak and international option but not much. Try to come after 8.45am before that is like a market not easy to get seat. During this stay had blackout due to the hotel doing some electrical in the night of 7 November the front desk said 20 minutes lasted more than that so decided to sleep. On 8 November afternoon there was another few outages before it became stable. The problem with this there was no notification to the guest.

My stay at the hotel was good and the location is walkable to quite a few shopping malls and food options.

My only complaint and I would rate it as a heavy one since it relates to privacy issues. At check-in, I expressed that I did not want my passport photocopied for privacy and security reasons. I begrudgingly allowed them to photocopy my driver's license just to be able to check in.
On checkout, the staff including manager were insistent on photocopying my passport, even though they said to only need the passport number. Otherwise, they did not want to check me out for a fully paid stay.
This is not an acceptable practice for many reasons. I was assured that the photocopy would be destroyed, but I highly doubt of that being done in a manner that I would find acceptable.

To the hotel management: Upon arrival in the country, the government authorities have verified my identity and passport in a secure manner. You should not need to photocopy it for whatever reason.

Hotel is well placed for food, shopping, walking, and transport links. A three night stay after a busy three week break in Malaysia was the perfect way to recharge and relax before heading back home.

We booked a king size bed but was told to wait because our room was not ready. Only 2 hrs later, we were given a room. We stayed for 3 nights, our last night was terrible as the air conditioning was faulty and not working at all. We hardly had any sleep as the room was humid and felt like a sauna. Melia has always been our choice whenever we are in KL. The location of the hotel is great. The LRT just infront. Easy access to food, shopping, night live, you name it! The rooms are clean and well maintained. Although Melia has seen through many years but the hotel is well maintained with upgrades here and there to keep up with the changes and demand. Breakfast was great too with its wide variety of food. Staffs are polite and very accommodating. Nabil (hope I get the name right) check us in with a breeze and explained well all details of our stay. Melia has nvr disappoint us. Looking forward to our next stay with Melia in the future. Keep it up! ☺️
