Personally I don’t find the beds that comfortable, mattresses are too firm. Service in the restaurant is quite slow and the menu hasn’t changed for years - which of course is only an issue for frequent visitors!

Booked a junior suite - Room 811…. The corridor was noisy because of the workmen banging about early in the morning.
My shower had no door - only hinges on the walls where the door was!
Breakfast was cold - bacon, beans etc…. Coffee was great though.
Hotel was going through a refurbishment so spa area was closed.
Sushi restaurant was amazing - highly recommend this.
I feel that any hotel going through a refurbishment, when a booking has been made, should advise this as I most certainly would not have booked here!

We selected this hotel for an overnight stopover as we wanted to be close to Antwerp without getting involved with driving in Antwerp.
The free parking was a major attraction.
We arrived much later than expected due to delays in Dover, so didn't have time to see the area or use a restaurant.

The hotel spreads over several buildings with lots of doors to open and go through to get to some of the rooms.
The room itself was OK. Some of the tiles were cracked but it was clean and had everything we needed to a certain point. The mattress was OK but an extra pillow would have been nice. It had a ridiculous coffee machine and 3 pods of coffee (one decaffeinated, one espresso and one something else). It produced a miniscule amount of coffee from each pod. How is that in any way adequate for 2 adults on an overnight stay? I'd actually brought coffee with me but without a kettle that was completely pointless.

We didn't have breakfast as it was far too expensive.
We asked the receptionist if there were any bakeries in the town that would be open on a Sunday morning. She said she didn't know! It turns out there are some excellent bakeries in Beveren selling a wide range of truly delicious pastries and a decent supermarket open on a Sunday.

One thing we really, really liked was the child pack they put in the room for our grandson. That was a very nice touch. He was very happy with it.

I had a junior suite which was lovely. It was the furthest form the reception however, and that is a long way! Service at breakfast was not good, but the Asian restaurant had fantastic service. Reception was also very friendly and happy.

Great stat, staff very welcoming, and when we ordered food for delivery reception held it for us.

Aircon wasn’t working in the first room but they moved us rooms within 5 mins which wasn’t a problem for us and very thankful. Car park was quite full but goes quiet once restaurants close.

Really nice hotel. Only problem was the “double bed” was two twins pushed together. Was in that crack all night. Not comfortable. Everything else about the hotel was great. Make sure to check the kind of bed you are getting

Great hotel and amazing breakfast

Very nice large hotel with all amenities, within short driving distance of Antwerp. If you would rather stay out of town and enjoy a hotel with spa, swimming pool, 3 restaurants, a very large kids outdoor play are and free car park, then the Van der Valk Beveren is the place to go.
Check-in staff were very nice and helpful.
Our room was modern, spacious and well furnished, the water pressure in the bathroom perfect for a nice shower after a long day of sightseeing.

We had dinner at Ozzo, their Asian - sushi restaurant, and although service was a bit slow due to a very busy Saturday night, the food was of high quality.

But the high point of our 1-night stay was breakfast. The quality and choice is something I have never seen anywhere in my long years of travelling: a large variety of breads and sweet pastries, cold sandwich spreads and salads, cheeses and cold cuts, hot foods (including freshly cooked fried eggs).
If ever a hotel wanted to send their clients on their way feeling good, this certainly did it.
On our way out, we were already thinking about what else we could visit in the region just so we could stay here again.

This is a beautiful hotel close to Antwerp. We stayed here for our anniversary and received a complimentary room upgrade. The hotel had also decorated our room with balloons, chocolates, and a card. The facilities are excellent, including a great swimming pool, and the staff were amazingly helpful. Highly recommended

There is a lot of like about this hotel, the service is exceptional, and they offer a comfortable stay for us and our dog. The range of TV channels in the room was a bonus, and the room facilities were pretty good, and spacious too in the new block. We were quite impressed with the Jardin restaurant, we preferred it to The nest. It was a good base for us to explore Ghent and Antwerp from.

However, the areas that let it down are the location, it is not a pretty setting, next to a train line, large electricity pylons and right next to a large busy road. Nothing very easily in walking distance.

We found the drain in our shower quite smelly at times, which is a shame as the block is quite new. And while spacious and well equipped, the style of the rooms was a little stark for our taste save for a random large lion picture, but this is a personal preference.

There is a 'dog tax' if you like, but unlike most other hotels nothing is provided for that fee, no dog bowls or bedding in our room.

The rooms were clean and well kept. The coffee maker was broken and I asked to have it fixed. They came and cleaned up the mess, but didn’t fix the coffee maker. The staff were friendly, but the restaurant was very understaffed and we had to wait two hours for our entrees one evening. I would not seek this place out again

Under construction. We got a new room in an empty, hard to reach area that was pretty unfinished - the elevator still looked like a construction zone and the hallways were unfinished. The room was complete, but not suitable for two people unless you’re very close - the all glass, see-through shower is located in the center of the room

Lovely hotel, unless you drive its going to be a pain. Nowhere near a grocery shop, closest is lidl 2.4 miles away. Transport stops at 10pm from antwerp and taxis are expensive. So hotel is great but its location is awful. I get remote retreat but really theres a point not to cross.

Whilst the main hotel seemed very nice, we were sent next door to cottage 21, which was right next to a loading facility (very noisy deliveries unloading early morning) and right in front of the hotel’s smelly rubbish dump – so there were vile odours every time you opened the front door or window. When I pointed this out at reception the next morning, they simply replied that they were aware of the problem – but offered no apology or compensation.

The hotel is good in terms of facilities except room service. Each room service can be availed at an extra price (around 10 euros) only to deliver specific food items as listed on their menu. The premises had a mini-gym, swimming pool and children play area. It is good to have your own transport if you prefer to stay here as public transportation is not so great in this area. The hotel had free Wi-Fi and comfortable bed.

My wife and I stayed in one of the cottages. These are effectively townhouses, separate from the main hotel building. We *loved* the atmosphere and the decor. Some other people we knew stayed in the hotel rooms, but we would say the cottages were nicer. They are separate from the main building, so if mobility is an issue, you might not want to choose them.

Lots of parking space, check in/out with a smile, room clean and bright. Sound proofing good, matress and pillows very good. Extra bed could do with some oiling as it was very squeeky. Wifi was good but TV was very poor standard. Changing channels took ages and remote control batteries needed changing. Pool was great size but pool lighting was dim and felt spooky. Pool was also not warm enough compared to other hotels in our trip. Hotel feel (corridor cleanliness was super) was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Its a shame that breakfast is not included for the price we paid.

The bed was very comfortable and you had everything you need in the bathroom, there was a bit of dusty in the bath but not a huge problems.
Reception was good with processing checkin and out.
I was disappointed with the noise of guests and childrens but this is an issue with poor insulation and there is a rail line close by so you could hear the trains passing by.
The menu in the restaurant was very confusing for English, food was good and service okay.
I was told that I could not have tap water and had to buy it instead. Once I refused to buy still water I was rewarded a glass of water which arrived by the very end of my meal, so perhaps that was my punishment for not buying still water.
Breakfast was very good and not too expensive, and you could help yourself with fizzy wine if you like drinking first thing in the morning.
Overall it was okay not sure I would return there.

Road trip hotel

Needed a hotel close to a town we were visiting during a road trip. Relied upon the Van der Valk brand and was not disappointed. Great staff on reception, room was big and comfy. A Nespresso machine was a nice touch. We had a great evening meal in the hotels restaurant, where the staff were again fantastic. Bed was so comfy too. I'd definitely use this hotel again.

Excellent trip slightly letdown by attentiveness of waiting on staff in restaurant. We were shown to our table and orders taken for drinks soon after. Drinks arrived and we ordered our main meals. By the time the meals arrived we had almost finished the drinks but didn't order more. Th restaurant was fairly quiet and whilst there were staff around they didn't come within our vicinity to check the meals were OK or to see if we needed anything extra e.g drinks. We finished our meal and sat for a good 15 minutes until someone eventually came over, by which point we had decided to give up on the drinks and have coffee on our room. The bill arrived which showed bread FOC which hadnt been offered which we are left wondering if it was part of the deal. There were also water glasses set on the table which again wasnt offered

Mixed feeling toward this hotel

The front desk staff was not too customer friendly. We booked one of the only 4 suites in the hotel, yet the air condtioning was not working. When we mentioned the problem, the staff only offer a simple apology but nothing else (like discount the price?) to compensate our discomfort. In the same way the restaurant staff also offer not much customer service beside took order for and delivered the food. The ligting controls were confusing. I hope they have more instructions. There is also lack of information about the different facilities and their openings hours in the room. The spa facilities were not ready in the morning.

We were celebrating our 30 anniversary using this hotel so it was very disappointing.

However, we thoroughly enjoyed the spa and a big indoor pool with perfect temperature the night before, the hotel facilities were amazing. we really like to stay in our room which had a two person bath tub, the lighting, and all the supplies were extraordinarily. The food in the restaurant were awesome. Best of all it has a free car park. The hotel seems to be quite new and situated in a nice green wooded area.

Not Happy this time!

Stayed at this hotel many times, always happy with service, room, food etc. This time on 11th February we were VERY unhappy, there was some sort of 72 hr function which was, to say the least, VERY VERY NOISY - VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND A PARKING PLACE. 2.30 am Doors banging, shouting, we were unable to sleep. It would have been nice if the hotel had advised us of the function when we booked. Come on Van Der Valk Please get your 'act together'

An exceedingly comfortable experience

An absolutely fantastic hotel, especially for the price. The room large, clean, and included both a fridge and coffee-making facilities. There was also a bottle opener - handy for those who BYOB.

There are two restaurants on-site, both expensive. I can't speak to the quality of the sushi as we opted for the French-Belgian restaurant, which was fantastic. An extremely good meal with well-paired wine. The \"choose your own 3-course\" fixed-price option was still pricey, but certainly worthwhile given the quality of the food.

Be aware of the lack of other places to dine in the area, but if you need to pony up the cash to eat at the hotel, you won't be disappointed.

The town of Beveren seemed nice, including the 'castle' (which seemed more like a stately home with a moat). The proximity to Antwerp and its park-and-rides was excellent.

I can’t give it better than 3 star... it was horrible service for supper and for brunch the following morning. Hotel and rooms were in very good to great condition. But there service was appalling. The gentleman at the front desk was great.... but it ended there. All the wait staff ( both evening and the next morning) could not be bothered ... toon 10 min to get a table and another 15 to get a drink. When I went to the bar... it was almost insulting that I asked for help... and was willing to get my own drink. Front desk. Great. Another person who was amazing was the cleaning lady. She was so nice and helpful and got me more towels. I could not ask for a better and more cheerful person. It was like she actually was happy that I enjoyed myself. As a Canadian .... I am used to 3 start hotels... holiday inn, travel lodge, Sheraton. Hotel 6. But this Cander chain is not for me. People care about their patrons enjoying themselves. I won’t stay here again

This hotel is fine for a short stay near Antwerp. Room was clean, comfortable and everything worked. Internet worked at a good speed. Hotel nowhere near anything else so ate in restaurant. Dinner was good, if a bit expensive, standard hotel menu, service was a bit slow. I will use again mainly because it close to the company I was visiting.

This was a beautiful hotel. The rooms were clean, but our first room (non-smoking) smelled like smoke so they had to move us to another room. The area was great and we could have stayed much longer and found things to do. The main issue we had was that they charged us an additional €30 per night per room for the rollaway bed. We booked the room for three people (2 rooms, 3 people each) and each room only had a double bed so we requested a rollaway in each room. Since we booked the room for 3 people, you would think they would automatically have the correct sleeping arrangements. In this case, we had to pay for a rollaway or share a double bed with three people. The restaurant was nice and had good service and good food. With a rollaway, this ended up being just as expensive as staying in a nice hotel in Antwerp.

Shame one person clouds a whole visit

Every thing was very good apart from 2 things
Window was left open from previous guests and room was full of mosquitos which took us a long time to deal with as house keeping did not seem to understand .
And although most staff and reception staff were fantastic and wouldn't want to take away from their excellent service one member of reception Called Yanik needs to be removed as he was short tempered made us feel we were an inconvenience and was openly rude . This would make us reconsider staying again

Tea & Coffee making facility in room was not working, this was a major dissapointment and one of our priorities after drivng for many hours and having to be up and leaving before breakfast in the morning. despite repeated requests to reception & room service over a 2 hour period no one came to replace or fix the Tea & coffee making machine.

The Shower was Blocked meaning standing in dirty ankle deep water whilst taking a shower.

This was not a cheap hotel and we were very unpset with the lack of help and a lack of facilities that we had paid for and that were not supplied. We were told that no partial refund could be given from the 85 euros paid as we had paid on arrival!

The restuarant had a glossed up menu which seemed expensive for what was received for example Succulent chicken with mashed potatoes which was actually very dry chicken mad to look nice with very lumpy unmashed potatoe.

Disgraceful, an overall big dissapointment and a ripoff taking into the amount paid and the lack of facilities which should have been included!

Freshly pressed orange juice at breakfast and good size rooms with bath and seperate shower. Hotel restaurant has pretty good sushi.
Wifi is really poor throughout the hotel. Rooms are quite cold and heating takes a long time. The advertised sauna is not for free (17€)

Excellent Hotel and staff

This hotel was fantastic it was warm ,clean ,the food was fantastic and well worth the money,receptionists were always ready to help.Everyday room was cleaned and given clean towels.Didnt get to use any facilities as I came to Beveran for an operation and so was recouperating in my room.Beds were so comfortable and it was nice to ave English channels on tv.FANTASTIC

Booked a room for 3 people and was told I would have to pay 40 euro for a pull out bed for the third person, and about 20 euro for the small dog. So not impressed from the start. Room was nice and the food good but forced to sit outside because of the dog so not the most dog friendly hotel out there. To be fair on checking out when challenged about the bed charge it was removed from the bill so not so bad.

We've stayed at Van Der Valk hotels before and they have always comfortable, clean and good value and this hotel is no exception. In fact it was so good we are staying there again at the end of the week.

Better every time

An excellent hotel I have been a regular visitor for nearly 20 years and recently it just gets better every time. Facilities are excellent and service is first class. Situated just outside Beveren (5 Euro Taxi) which has some great bars and Restaurants - recommend Peacocks and Grande Café Jules Verne.

Busy hotel in the north west of Belgium

The hotel appears to be a merger of an old and a new hotel and locally is referred to as the Beveren Hotel.
We enjoyed a pleasant stay and the hotel was convenient for visiting Gent and its surrounding areas.

Great value, good rooms and service

I have stayed here since 1999 and they are always keeping the hotel fresh and up to date. The 'superior' category of rooms represent excellent value and including trouser press, iron and coffee machine. The only downside I can think of is some of the rooms are near to a railway line which can disturb sleep sometimes. The extra facilities like the pool and sauna and excellent buffet breakfast make up for this.

Great place for a reasonable price

I stayed here for five nights and had a great time. I cannot comment on the accessibility of this place via public transport, as I had a car. Not a lot of restaurants close by. But the place is nice, clean and spacious. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I drove over to Sint Niklaas and found some nice restaurants. I would recommend this place highly.
