The entire hotel and specially the rooms STUNK like sewer, coming from all the pipes. All we got was a 'I am sorry about that' from the front desk.

Let me tell you: about two days before my arrival to the hotel, for some reason I was reading very bad comments about the conditions of the hotel and the rudeness of the staff; however everybody coincided on highlighting the beautiful views from the hotel… I got a bit concern about what I was reading but it was too late to change. Well, guess what? My experience was totally different! I did not get a view, probably because the type of room that I booked, actually it was the worst view to an interior patio, but in compensation I found very kind and helpful staff and a very functional and clean room, a bit simple but all was in great condition and working! So, it has been a great experience! The hotel is the best located in Zaragoza and definitely I will book again this hotel😎🇪🇸

Friendly and efficient staff.

The location is nice, but that’s about it. My room was dirty and smelled terrible—like something rotten. I had bugs in the bed, which was disgusting and made it impossible to sleep. There was no fridge, barely any toilet paper, and no basic toiletries. The noise level was also way too high. I wouldn’t stay here again unless things improve drastically.

Slap bang in the middle of town the hotel is right by the Pilar cathedral. The staff here a friendly and helpful and got to know you over your stay.
A really nice breakfast buffet is available, with real machine coffee served by one of the hosts - a nice touch.
Obviously around the area is full of tourist activities, so fill your boots.

Just one little point, the staff need to observe the do not disturb signs, they are there for a reason!

Overall a good choice to stay in the centre.

Nice quiet and spacious room with view to a rear patio. Very clean, newly refurbished bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows, very clean sheets.
Negative: bathroom door handle was broken so we did not close the door during our stay; Room's door stopper on the ground was missing so small screw sticking out from the floor which could cause an injury if walking bearfoot; and smell of bleach very strong in the bathroom and room.
Apart from those very small issues, I strongly recommend this hotel as a budget accommodation right opposite the Basilica.

Great experience

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The best part was being able to enjoy the beautiful view of the castle at night through the window. The bed was also very spacious, making it comfortable to rest. However, the church bells ring every hour from 8 AM to 10 PM, so it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to noise. Overall, it was a great experience!

The staffs are very polite. The room is very clean, and the temperature controller is pretty good, it’s pretty chilly the day I was in. Excellent location, it just next to Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. There are plenty of restaurants and bars around. There is a bus station nearby to the railway station.

The showers need a renovation. There is this shower which is a standing shower with water coming out of every where if it’s not synch properly it creates a mess. It splashed water everywhere. I could see the door being damaged because the water.

The place was clean, but the room was smelly, it looks very old, the room doors had been hit and scratched from outside. The hallways are dark and very ugly.
The dining area feels like a subway station.

The location is why we booked this property. We wanted a walkable place with many sights nearby. For English speaking visitors, it was more difficult to communicate with them as it is not really a tourist town. Many of the signs were only in Spanish and Catalan. I used my broken Spanish, but it was difficult to communicate.

Historic hotel with character in central location

Location, location, location - you can't find another hotel with a better location. We arrived early and the hotel staff checked us in and gave us a room facing Plaza del Pilar. It's a historic hotel, so expect that the room can be small, but enough for a couple. Bedding is clean and beds are comfortable. Bathroom including shower is newly renovated. Staff are very nice. Breakfast is included with lots of selections, from fruits to juices, deli, breads of all sorts. There is also a lady made us coffee and tea.

Given the hotel location is central, there are lots of good restaurants within walking distance.

Overall, it is a nice hotel.

This hotel was awesome! It is sooooo clean. The staff were super helpful. My Spanish is so so and they were very patient listening to me. They spoke to me slowly so I could understand everything they said. The hotel is located in the Pilar Plaza and within walking distance to everything you could need to see. The tv remote even had a language choice so if an American tv show was on I could choose English and it switched so I could watch it. Zaragoza was such a neat town to visit. The only thing that I didn't like was the Basilica bells rang every 15 minutes. The 15 and 45 were shorter, the half a little longer and the hour longer still and with extra chimes to count each hour. I told my daughter I was happy at least it counted in 12 hour time not 24. Wouldn't want to have to listen to 15 or 20 chimes. lol.
I highly recommend this hotel if you go to Zaragoza. It really is central and very clean with wonderful staff.

Room with a view

For the view alone you need to stay at this hotel. It is magnificent. Of course together with the view comes the street noise, so be prepared to take some earplugs, but that is certainly worth it. The room is very comfortable and clean!

The hotel is in a great location and it's clean but sadly those are about the only positive things about it.
It is dilapidated. And in urgent need of renovation. On many of the walls the plaster is crumbling.
The rooms are clean but the both the beds and pillows were uncomfortable.
The breakfast was disappointing and of poor quality.
Considering we paid just under €100 per night for our stay, it was probably the worst value for money hotel we have ever stayed in. Certainly not the perfect location for our romantic weekend away.

Looking at how much I paid for the room, I think I should have paid more for a better quality room. The location within the plaza del Pilar was second to none, it was across the plaza from the basilica Pilar which would be the reason for visiting Zaragoza. It was at the start of the old quarter which is a warren of old beautiful buildings housing shopping and restaurant options.
From the balcony we had an incredible view of the plaza but not the basilica.
Now to the room. The bedding and sheets were comfy although the room wasn’t much bigger than a childs room, it even had Buenos Noches (good night) on the wall with some cute little sheep jumping a hedge. The bathroom was also small with a shower that had an adjustable chair (I’m guessing for older travellers or those with disabilities) but the adjustable bit was broken so instead had a permanent chair that I didn’t want to use taking up half of tiny shower space.

No fridge or ammenities in the room, but it ranged from 0-7 degrees centigrade during our visit so we were able to leave our drinks/cold meats/yogurt on the balcony to stay cold.

Because of the cold of the city and the tinyness of our room, by the end of our stay in Zaragoza we we’re happy to leave, as we were unable to feel at home.

As I said, I should have paid for a bigger room, so will keep that in mind for future trips.
