An absolutely wonderful stay. Comfortable bed, excellent shower, beautiful furnishings, lovely view of the private courtyard and an amazing breakfast. Brother's John and Michael are fabulous hosts. John welcomed us, gave us a tour of the B&B, explained its stained glass history and gave us a map he marked sights to see on. Michael served a delicious breakfast with an array of choices, gave us information on train schedules and saved us a lot of time walking to the train station. We would definately stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at huis ‘t shaep, everything was impeccable, the owners were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions about what to see and where to eat. The Breakfast was so beautifully prepared and delicious. We highly recommend this hotel for personal service, cleanliness, history and location.

Beautiful hotel with intricate interior throughout which is a wonderful setting to base a stay in Bruges.
The hotel is run by John and Michael who are the most incredible hosts, with nothing too much trouble and an incredibly warm welcome.
We arrived late on a Friday evening but we're greeted and shown to our room with lots of information about the city.
The breakfast is excellent, with lots of choice and high quality fresh ingredients from yoghurt, fruits, granola, breads and pastries, eggs and bacon/smoked salmon and more. Freshly squeezed juices, tea coffee etc.
The rooms are immaculate, and impeccably clean, with large bathroom, comfortable beds, fridge, TV and air conditioning.
I booked via Hotels.com, and the pricing was great for an incredible experience and masterclass in hospitality.

This B&B was extraordinary. The host John was so friendly and most helpful. His home is like a gallery of beautiful artworks. The striking glass window reflected that this was once the home and workshop of stain glass artisans. Our Ruben’s room was exquisite, one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in. Wish we had time to have stayed longer. The room was spotless, the shower was hot and the bed and furniture so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, perfectly prepared omelette and eggs and a basket of delicious baked goods. The location was just 10 minute walk from the market square. We would come back in a heart back.

I have been using Hotels.com for my bookings over a decade and this is my first 10 star rating. A very deserving one.

Huis T’Schaep is a family run bed and breakfast. This beautiful listed building is very unique with interesting fine detailing you would normally find in churches. It’s location is very convenient to access the train station and visit some of the most important landmarks such as the Notre Dame of Bruges.

Michael and his family go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We have been upgraded (free of charge) to a beautiful suite and have been very spoiled with the excellent choices for breakfast. The recommendations we received from Michael for sightseeing & souvenir shopping were spot on. Overall, it was a very pleasurable stay. I highly recommend it.

Great place to stay in Bruges.

This is an excellent B&B just 5 mins walk to the main square. Parking is 5 mins walk. Suggest dropping bags then parking. One of the best beds we have experienced.
Bathroom excellent with bath and walk in shower. TV had BBC 1 and 2. Breakfast was a la carte and excellent with lots of choices.
My only comment is this is not suitable for people with walking difficulties. First floor is a standard staircase, second floor is quite difficult, although they will carry your luggage. There is no lift.
Overall I can recommend this as a great place to stay.

Beautiful Home with Great Hosts!

This home has many interesting features of stained glass, tiles, woodwork, and furniture that give you a feeling of history. The parking garage is very close, the main parts of town are all within 5-10 min walk, the in-house breakfast is great, and the hosts will help guide you to the best restaurants/attractions in town. We loved our stay and would not hesitate to stay at Huis ‘t Schaep once again.

Wish we could give it more than 5 stars!

After reading the reviews we came with high expectations--and they were exceeded!

The hotel is beautiful, charming, and immaculately clean. It used to be an artist's home and studio and so is very historic but is in truly excellent condition--hard to come by and so is a gem.

The property is a 5 or so minute walk to the city centre but tucked away on a quiet (but very safe too!!) side street so we definitely felt away from the tourist crowd.

Service was exceptional. Room was cleaned daily and breakfast was delicious, healthy, and cooked to order. I have a wheat allergy and am quite careful what I eat in general, and Michael was super accommodating and even offered me buckwheat crackers as a snack to take with me during the day.

Would definitely stay again!!

Wonderful location in the heart of Brugge, Belgium

This B&B is outstanding. The historic building is amazing with leaded glass windows, carved furniture, and beautiful hand painted tiles through out. The food Nazarine cooks for breakfast is delicious. The variety is nice with fruit, bread, meat and cheese, eggs, pancakes, juice, ond of course nice coffee. Michael looks after his guests with the ut-most care. He offers to pre-book meals and make arrangements for you before you even arrive. He makes sure you have directions each day before heading out of the B&B, and will make dinner rsvps for you also. We had a medical emergency shortly after arriving and Michael made arrangements to get us to the hospital with some good advice about Belgian hospitals. I was able to stay on as my husband was admitted to hospital. Each day Michael and Nazarine made sure that I was OK and helped me in many ways.

This hotel makes me mad, because I am now ruined for all other accommodations. Walking into such a beautiful building, you are greeted by friendly staff. They will help you plan your stay and provide you with many great recommendations. The hotel is quite old, but in immaculate condition. Everything is so well maintained and clean. Amazing, beautiful b&b in near central Bruges

This B&B is beautiful, a listed building both exterior and interior. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite with four-poster bed (with electric controls to raise and lower the top part of the mattresses), free-standing bath, huge shower, and separate lounge, kettle and coffee maker, and access to a communal terrace. Michael the host is very friendly and helpful, giving us clear instructions and great recommendations for where to eat, walk, cycle, visit, and anything else we wanted to do. He had time for us, which is so nice in this busy day and age. The B&B is a 15 minute walk from the station and convenient for everything we wanted to do within 15 minutes walk. The breakfast is great, he just kept bringing out food, fresh bread and pastries, fruit salad, yogurt, home-made things and freshly cooked full English

Huis 't Schaep is the most fabulous place to stay. It is a private house on a regular street in Bruges close to the centre and a short walk from the railway station. We only had one night but we picked the best place to stay in all Bruges. This is a magnificent medieval house with original features throughout - it is like staying in a room of the 15th century with modern facilities. Our host was wonderfully attentive and looked after us very well. A lovely home cooked breakfast was perfect in the morning. We hope to visit again soon and highly recommend Huis 't Schaep

My wife and I found this B & B to be a in a superb location for access to all areas, 5 minutes walk (Max) from the Tsand underground car park, which has plenty of lifts.
Check out the Lobster Pot new fish restaurant newly opened approx 3 weeks ago which is 50 meters down the road from the B & B, excellent food and very nice and friendly staff.

Charming B&B however you should be aware that some of the rooms (like ours) are up several flights of stairs with no elevator and no one to assist with luggage. Also the owner insists that you leave your shoes at the front door and wear slippers in the house which is a little unusual in a hotel. Fantastic location. Very nice breakfast.

Wonderful stay at this medieval building with beautiful period features dating back to C17th-18th. Centrally located, close to all sites. Clean, comfortable room with original C19th stained-glass window, beautifully furnished with four-poster bed. Host Michael and his family are so friendly, attentive and welcoming. We were so well looked-after, all our needs catered for. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and made to order, served in a lovely, bright room. Cannot fault this B&B, it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Michael and Nazia spoiled us, preparing a delicious feast for breakfast. The Renoir room was spacious with a large bathroom and shower. The location was absolutely perfect, nearby the Chocolate Row and a short walk to Market Square. Taxi was 7 euros from the train station.

We booked Huis 't Schaep for our second wedding anniversary and had a lovely stay. The location of the hotel was ideal for the city center and only 15 minutes walk from the train station. Michael, the owner was friendly and attentive throughout our stay and was a source of excellent information about places to see in Bruges and a variety of restaurants to try. Romantic stay in breathtaking Bruges; location was excellent (walking distance to mainstreet (shopping) and grand place with Belfort! Only one little inconvenience the mattress in our room need to be changed or covered (springs can be felt laying down).

Bruges Birthday Surprise

I booked Huis 't Schaep for my husband's birthday surprise and he was delighted. Michael was wonderful even before we left the UK offering help to make the birthday a memorable experience. We stayed in the Courke room which had a four poster bed and a huge bath tub. I couldn't have asked for more and will definitely be recommending to friends. On a more practical note, the hotel has the perfect location on a quiet side street but central to access all the sights and shops. The train station is about 12 - 15min walk (with luggage).

We had a wonderful at short break at Huis 't Schaep. The accommodation was superb. We had a suite on the top floor which was massive and furnished to a high standard. This bed and breakfast is tucked away on a side street so you do not

A unique B&B perfect for Bruges

We had a wonderful 3-night stay in the Renoir Suite in this stunning, unique Grade I listed building. It is brimming with gorgeous original features, which made us feel like we were staying in a museum, however with all mod cons.

The location on a quiet street with no noise is perfect for Bruges and we walked everywhere.

Service was impeccable; personal, warm, and knowledgeable. John gave us some great recommendations around the city and also taught us a lot about the fascinating history of the building. We felt extremely well looked after. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made, and all our dietary requirements were carefully taken into consideration.

Our room was gorgeous with a lovely big bathroom. The only criticism we had was that the bed was just slightly too soft for our liking but this is clearly a matter of personal preference, so other people might feel differently! There is coffee and tea in the room, and in the lounge area there is a well-stocked, very reasonably-priced honesty bar which is great if you fancy a nightcap back in your room.

All in all we found this an excellent place to stay and should we return to Bruges, would definitely book at Huis 't Schaep again.

For a devine experience...Huis 't Schaep!!

We booked Huis 't Schaep 4-5 months prior to our arrival, and were very excited about staying at this hotel/B&B because of its history and the photos provided. The good news is: we were NOT disappointed with anything and loved it more than we thought we would! The two owners, John and Rob, go out of their way to inform their guests about the beautiful town of Brugges and its surrounding areas, including making dinner and guided-tour reservations. The restoration of this \"little nugget\" of a bed-and-breakfast has been done with exquisite attention to detail, and tender love and care. This bed-and-breakfast, however, is anything but small of scale, from the beautifully-appointed, spacious bedrooms to the numerous dining rooms and patios. The ample, delicious breakfasts were such a treat every morning, and it was fun chatting with the other guests, who visited from all over the world. We wish we lived closer so we could avail ourselves of visiting lovely, historic Brugges and Huis 't Schaep more often. We were sad to say good bye to our engaging hosts after a 7-day stay. They enhanced a terrifically, romantic holiday for us.

My husband and I were only in Bruges for one night and one day, and we selected a B&B in order to get a more \"personal\" experience and learn a little more about the city itself. Huis t'Schaep did not disappoint. We arrived late in the evening, and the owner went out of his way to get us settled in quickly and comfortably, as well as to help us orient ourselves and find a good restaurant with only limited time before the area's eateries shut down (Bruges is pretty quiet past 10 pm). The next day, following a wonderful breakfast, he sat down with us and a map and recommended some great restaurants and chocolate shops to try, as well as his favorite sights to see in the area, knowing that we had little time and wanted to get the most out of our stay. He really went out of his way to accommodate us and made it very easy for us to hop back on the train in the evening to head to our next stop. He gave us a history of Bruges itself and an in-depth tour of the house, which was owned by a stained-glass and tile maker and is full of stunning details and the most beautiful fireplaces we had ever seen. The room itself was a lovely blend of hundreds-of-years-old architectural details and antiques with full modern conveniences such as electronic access, huge jetted tiled shower, and comfortable temperature. Breakfast was huge and cooked to order with the owner giving us several options and making sure that everyone had as much as they wanted to eat. It included a variety of breads and cheeses, eggs cooked in several ways, a beautiful fresh fruit salad, fresh orange juice, and yogurt prepared with fresh fruits and seasonings. The house is perfectly located about ten minutes by foot from the train station and maybe ten minutes by foot from the market square, close to everything in central Bruges. Bruges itself feels like one of the safest cities we have ever visited, and even walking alone at midnight in the town we felt very comfortable. Overall this was an amazing stay and we wish we could have spent more time both in the town and at this house itself. The next time we visit Bruges we plan to stay here again and hopefully have another fantastic experience.

Lovely and comfortable.

Very much enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse. The Coucke Suite was extremely comfortable, the bed especially so. The unique stained glass window in the bathroom was beautiful. The house lovely, it was wonderful to stay in a building with such character and history,

A couple of small personal points, I would have liked a full length mirror in the room, the only mirror was in the bathroom and it obviously got quite steamed up. Also I'm afraid I found the breakfast choice a little limited, I do not eat eggs and they were offered each day.

Be aware that the room is on the second floor at the top of some very steep stairs.

These small things did not detract however, and I enjoyed my stay.

Wir haben ein wundervolles Wochenende in Brügge verbracht. Insbesondere auch aufgrund des sehr schönen Hotels, welches eine sehr gute Lage hat. Nahe zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße. Ein perfekter Frühstücks-Service, keine Buffet, so beginnt der Tag entspannt.
