Wir haben zwei Nächte in diesem Hotel verbracht. Die Lage ist wirklich sehr zentral, mit guten Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe und vielen tollen Restaurants in der Umgebung – das ist definitiv ein großer Pluspunkt.

Leider überwiegen für uns jedoch die negativen Aspekte. Es ist extrem laut – und zwar Tag und Nacht. Ab etwa 7 Uhr morgens beginnt Baustellenlärm von der Straße, und auch nachts hört man immer wieder sehr laute Musik draußen. Das Motto „to sleep or not to sleep“, das außen am Hotel angebracht ist, passt aus unserer Sicht leider ziemlich gut. Das Hotel ist außerdem extrem hellhörig – man hört wirklich alles aus den Nachbarzimmern. Eine bessere Fensterverglasung wäre hier dringend nötig.

In der ersten Nacht wurde zudem ein Feueralarm ausgelöst, der sehr lange und laut gepiepst hat. Es gab kein Feuer. Wir sind dadurch mitten in der Nacht aufgewacht und konnten danach kaum noch einschlafen.

Ein weiteres No-Go: Eines der Handtücher war schmutzig und hatte deutliche Teint- und Lippenstiftspuren. Das sollte in einem Hotel absolut nicht vorkommen.

Für zwei Nächte war es gerade noch akzeptabel, aber insgesamt können wir das Hotel leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

Lovely hotel, clean and in good location. Plenty of restaurants within yards and main shops (high st shops) maybe 10 mins walk. Great view of cathedral (bells stop at night!) Square can get a little noisy but windows are well sealed an air con ok.

Nice spot in Central Antwerp.

This hotel is right in a most amazing area in central Antwerp. We had a great view of the Cathedral and Square. The large windows overlooking the square had a long bench in front which was also great for sitting. Interesting decor!

The only negative was that there wasn’t a staff member on duty 24/7. They would all leave at 10 pm. Also wish restaurant and bar would stay open a bit later or there should be a kiosk where you could get water, drinks, snacks etc.

I absolutely loved my time in Antwerp, and largely because I really lucked out finding this gem. Everyone at the hotel was so kind, the room was beautiful, well appointed, clean, and situated right across the square from the beautiful gothic cathedral. Waking up to that sight each morning was a real treat. Hope to be back one day!

A gem of a hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was spotless - and it had such character in the way it was decorated! Stepping out of the hotel to see the beauty of the cathedral right in front of you was a great bonus too.

I booked this hotel because it said it had a 24 hour reception as i knew I was arriving late. I called the hotel at 8pm just to be sure and a person that barely spoke English, French or German told me that the recption closed at 2200 CET. I managed to convince this person to deposit the key in an envelope and give me a code for the door. When I got there, the corridor was very messy and I found the letter in a pack of post.

The hotel is located in the middle of the pedastrian zone and even taxis can't get closer than 300m.

The hotel is in the old sector. We had a spectacular view of the cathedral. It’s on the old square. Unfortunately it is quite noisy when in the room. Not a problem through the day, but it continues late into the evening. The worst part of our stay were the garbage trucks coming and going throughout the night starting at 1am right through to sunrise. This was early Tuesday morning.
The hotel itself is very nice.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The area is close to everything and convenient. The standard room I booked is directly above a fish restaurant. The smell in the room was unbearable. I asked to move and had to pay more for another room. There was an air freshener in that room that was extremely strong. I had to place it in a sealed bag. I understand the hotel is in a historic area and old but I felt like I was staying at a hostel. Would not stay there again.

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the action and it doesn’t get better than this! The rooms are too small (we had two rooms), and the layout of the bathrooms was weird, with the toilet in a super tiny room by itself, while the shower and sink are part of the bedroom. This is totally understandable though because the building is old (maybe historical?), and the incredible location and cleanliness make up for the size and layout. I would definitely stay there again.

Ideal location but not ideal stay. I booked a basic single-looks and sounds much better on line. Very small cramped room with bed in corner, against wall. Dark walls, poorly lit.i didn’t bother with breakfast, left to catch train. Don’t know if it would’ve been worth the extra €17.50. I did very much enjoy Antwerp

Pleasant staff. The hotel is located in a car free zone, so we were aware of this ahead of time, and parked close by in a modern well-lit underground garage, and rolled our bags about a block to the hotel.

Comfortable hotel with a good central location.

The hotel is well located in the heart of Antwerp and for those going to Darklands it only a 20 minute walk. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast was extra but there was a good selection and plenty of everything and well worth the money. The only slight down side was its a bit of a noisy hotel, you can hear other guests, the lift and other external noise. The hot water also takes a long time to come through, but when it does its perfect. Even with these two issues, I would definitely stay again.

O-so unique

The hotel is in the center of the city in a pedestrianonly area. cons: you have to schlep your bags over cobblestone for at least 700ft., can be noisy from people in the steeet, it's a historic building with a very small footprint. Pros: you are right THERE, staff was exceptionally helpful (a special shout out and thank you to Charline), minor issues were addressed right away, room was modern and unique, and the brwakdast was amazingly good, great variety and quality. Would definitely recommend.

The location is prime. With that prime location comes noise. We prepared. Walls were the thinnest of all hotels we stayed in, 10 nights in Belgium. Also there are USB ports next to the bed. Big win. Heater didn’t work and was quite chilly overnight. No 24 hour desk.

This hotel is located in the center of town. There are plenty of places to eat and things to see. Everything is within walking distance. The room itself was small but the bed was comfortable and the AC work. What else can you ask for during the hot summer.

If you’ve never traveled to Europe and are from anywhere in the U.S. make sure to get their breakfast. Reason i recommend this is because most of Europe does not wake up before 10 AM so there are no places to get breakfast. Because of COVID restrictions they couldn’t offer a buffet. Instead they give you one of everything that they would normally have available. Which was perfect.

One thing to note, you can hear people in the other rooms. So if you’re a light sleeper..bring your ear plugs.

Great location! I used to complimentary earplugs one night; Hotelo is at the heart of the action. Loved the view of the cathedral from my window. Loved that hhr window opened. Awesome, unique decor. The bathtub was wonderful! So nice to have a complimentary welcome beverage. Staff were very helpful with my reservations in flux. I chose to return to Hotelo for two more nights and look forward to returning again. Loved the bar/cafe and its decor and the sidewalk tables, too. Delicious tapas. So nice to have the elevator. Thanks for the daily complimentary water. Great value for my money!

But don’t trust google direction when driving. There is no way to drive up to the hotel which confused the heck out of me. But plenty of parking in garages 2 blocks away.

HotelO is centrally located with heaps of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions all around. Public transport can be reached within minutes from the hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only drawback is the single small elevator that is used to transport guests and service staff to 5 floors.
I will be back.

Great location but unfortunately lots of building work which woke me up at 7am sharp with lots of banging and heavy duty vechiles. Room isn’t well sound proofed from city street especially on lower floors. Breakfast and safe were extremely nice, professional and friendly but hotel needs some serious TLC as looks tired, old and exhausted. With some re-investmented I’m sure it will be lovely.

Only removed a star (from otherwise five) because when I asked the (assumed) manager why there was no phone in the room, she obfuscated, disinclining me from asking my second question, namely why the heating seemed not to be working.

I don't usually leave bad reviews but having relied on Hotels.com reviews, for recent trips, including this one, I couldn't leave it.

Service when we arrived wasn't great, with the response to a simple query about the hotel tax leaving both of us feeling like we were being told off by a teacher.

After squeezing into the tiny lift the room initially looked nice, with a lovely comfortable bed, but the rest was very tired - lots of paint chipping and marks all over the place and a lot of dust under the bench that ran across one side of the room. We were on the first floor and the windows were very poor - we could hear everything outside and were woken up on our second night by noise. I can only imagine how bad this would be in summer!

As the lift was so tiny and run down we decided to take the stairs, what a mistake that was! The stairwell was full of mold and stank and is not something you should experience when paying for a hotel.

I would not recommend this hotel and will not be staying there again.

Location is v good, walking distance to shopping areas. And only 2 tram stops to train station. Reception staff hidden most of the time under counter, tho they are friendly when approached. Rm decor is cool. Plenty of restaurants dwnstairs which opens till late. Downside is tt it can get rowdy at night. Heard drunks screaming and what seemed like a fight. Now I understand y other reviewers mentioned there's ear plugs provided (did not get it though). And y u need to scan card to enter hotel aft 9pm. Rm is not very sound proof, not sure if it's becuz we were on the 2nd floor. On top of e bell sounds in the day mentioned by other reviewers. Room size is normal, we choose the bigger room. I assume e other rms, v small. There's no air conditioning, might be stuffy for hot mths. Hope Expedia will amend hotel info or check with them again so it's not misleading for u. Heater in room didn't really help, only warms the area near heater. Not good for cold mths. TV, no Eng channels. Toilet can be super cold at night. Not sound proof too, even farts can be heard frm the cubicle area. So, it might not be nice for friends sharing the rm. On top of the transparent shower area..No fridge, safe, toothbrush, slippers nor tissue (Shocker). Water is not replenished daily unlike mentioned by other reviewers. The liquid amenities were good though. Luggage storage doesn't seem safe tho they are kept in a rm. It's not locked nor visible from reception. Overall, not recommended except for location.

Great modern hotel in the historic district. It can be a bit loud, but you are very close to the cathedral so it is a fair trade off. A cab from the central station is only 12-15 euros, and well worth it compared to taking the tram and walking. The wifi was poor.

Cool hotel right on the Cathedral square!

We loved the location of this hotel. It is right in the middle of old Antwerp and made all the sites we were interested in accessible by foot! The rooms in this hotel I can only describe as sexy! They are so unique and we LOVED it. The massive Rubens painting wallpaper and black paint is so wild and the showers in the middle of the room was quite awesome looking. Also, our shower had a large bathtub - perfect for a good soak after a long day of being a tourist. :) The staff was very friendly and accommodating and overall I have nothing but good things to say. Small & close to it all

Right near the cathedral- very convenient for sightseeing, very noisy when they rock the bells first thing in the morning. The room was small but not uncomfortably so, however there's just a glass wall separating the shower & toilet from the bedroom- so everything is on display. Seemed reasonable for the price, would stay there again.

Boutique and easy

The HotelO is well situated just a few steps from the doors of the cathedral, around the corner from the Grote Markt. Our room was small for two people, and the bathroom not so private, with clear glass shower walls and no door on the loo, (be sure you're intimate with your fellow traveler). No coffee in the room, but the breakfast was fantastic and well worth the extra 12.50. A free drink in the cozy hotel bar on the first night was also a pleasant surprise. Clean rooms and good service. Great location for walking the old town area. Attractive price point. Thumbs up.

Great hotel ideal for centre

Great hotel for business and pleasure. Bar closes at 21:00 but plenty around for food and drink. Rooms are great and qurirky!

Bathroom is not for the shy...

Very friendly staff. Clean, modern rooms. But the ridiculous bathroom design - a completely transparent glass wall between the bathroom and the bed, giving zero privacy - especially as the shower is right up against the floor-to-ceiling glass wall, not tucked away in the corner. It's ok if you're a couple, but if you're sharing the room with a friend, one of you would have to leave the room or hide under the duvet while the other takes a shower.

Great location in the centre of Antwerp, though it also gets very noisy overnight for the same reason.
