Day staff was very helpful. Nice having coffee available in the lobby in tbe mornings. When we had early morning pick-ups the night staff would make the coffee earlier so we could get some. Excellent location. And our balcony overlooking tbe lake was a gem. The room cleaning person made a different towel animal on our beds every day. So sweet.

The location is good (on the island) and the staff were friendly. The free coffee and bread rolls was nice, in the absence of breakfast being available.
The room was a bit dark, as the advertised balcony isn't really a balcony but a small enclosed room attached to the room. The terrace is nice but there is no bar service (although the minibar is well priced).
The staff were friendly but not very forthcoming with information unless asked. For example, I only found out about the swimming pool (at a nearby hotel), wifi, terrace and coffee because I either asked or looked for it.
The hotel is clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was hot and had good water pressure.

This was a great value on the water! Clean, safe, AC, great views to the water, bed was nice. It’s a little dated, but clean and everything is close. But be prepared, like all hotels in Flores you have to search for parking. There must have been 20 restaurants within 200 yards walk.

I stayed in 2 different rooms at this property because I was there for a week. I loved my room with the balcony, the beds are comfortable and my view was so peaceful and great. The second room looked out onto the street whichI didn't like as much, but was only there for one night. There were not too many bugs, just some ants and small beetles in the room sometimes. I did have a gecko in my room one night, but he exited on his own and this is common in this area. The water was only hot one day, but it's ok because it is so hot in Flores, you'll be wanting a luke warm/cool shower. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Big spacious room with a beautiful view, huge king size bed and the best shower I’ve had in forever! The hotel was very clean, the staff was very kind and helpful. There’s also a really beautiful and quiet terrace on the upper level. I would return anytime! Oh also, they have free filtered water for you to drink! Gracias!

The staff at Hotel Casazul is extremely nice and welcoming.

The hotel is not big but has a nice view of the lake, especially at sunset. The only unfortunate thing is that there are electrical/telephone wires right in the middle of your view.

The island of Flores is small and the hotel is conveniently located near a lot of good restaurants. Most are within 5-10 minutes walking.

The bed is somewhat uncomfortable, but the hotel had a decent shower with hot water. There is also a refrigerator if you need to store food/snacks. They have air conditioning as well, which is a plus because it gets hot and humid on Flores.

I would probably stay again at Casazul. It's not quite as beautiful as the photos, but it offers a good option for travelers who want to stay on the island of Flores.

The hotel appeared to be run down and not what we were expecting. I made sure to book rooms at hotels that had a pool,restaurant and parking. This hotel had none of these. Their solution was that we could change into our bathing suits and walk a couple blocks to another hotel of theirs that did have a pool. Then walk back, change and walk back down to go eat. Obviously not logical. We asked to transfer our rooms to their other hotel which they were able to do with us of course paying the difference in rates. The hotel we actually stayed was great! Completely night and day! I would not stay at Hotel Casaazul but I would in a heartbeat stay at their hotel in Santa Elena (literally just on the mainland part of the lake, still had lake views)

Great hotel pictures but terrible experience

We went for 3 nights to Peten, we wanted to stayed in this hotel all the nights but it was almost completely booked, so we only get the \"chance\" to stay for one night. Luckily. The hotel is very well located, the terrace view its beautiful and we felt safe. The staff was terrible, but there a was a woman who was the worst. We reported a problem with the AC because it started dropping water, and she started yelling at me that it was our fault because the control was under 20 degrees and she turn off the AC for one hour and she took the control with her. I asked her to return the control because we were about to leave and when you are using a hair dryer with the Flores temperature, you need the AC. Nobody told us that we should keep the AC above 21 degrees. When we came back, the room was obviously very hot, it took almost half an hour to freshen up. When we were getting ready to sleep, the most disgusting thing happened... a cockroach appeared in the bathroom. I couldn't sleep. And even if I could the ring would have waken me up several times. We stayed in the first floor and there was people getting into the hotel, and the bell ringed ridiculously loud. Impossible to rest and have a good time with all this inconvenients.

Great spot in Flores.

We choose this place based on location and seemingly cleanliness on pictures. I’m happy to report that this is correct. Although the place is a little more than the average of the area, it’s well worth it. My itinerary was not quite set when I arrived, but ended up making an additional two reservations here.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They held our luggage for a few days while went did a hike out to El Mirador.
They have bread and coffee in the morning for free and free cold and hot water throughout the day.
There is a really good restaurant called big fish about three houses down that has great garlic shrimp.
Pleanty of hot water and air conditioning. Would stay here again.
Also, I stayed in a twin bed room, but they are not twin beds, more like a full or queen size and two beds.

This hotel has updated rooms with new windows and comfortable beds and is very clean. Unlike some Flores hotels there was plenty of hot water! The road in front if the hotel (lakeside) is flooded so no traffic and very peaceful sitting on the deck to wstch activity on the lake and sunsets. Conveniently locsted next door to the best restaurant in Flores - Casa d'Enrico!

It is charming hotel, and the staff were all very nice, but the building itself is outdated. The room was very spacious and A/C (quiet) and worked well. The hotel is undergoing some remodeling so I am looking forward to return and see what they do. I hope the price won't go up as I thought it was very reasonable. They don't have a pool but can use one at Casona del Isla and there are so many good restaurant around.

You get what you pay for.

The hotel is not by all means terrible, I had a really pleasant stay in there, the room was clean and the view was beautiful; however, the place is really old, so if you are looking for modern commodity this is not for you.

One complain I do have is that the food and room service is really expensive, but this place is next to 4 restaurants with accesible prices, a mini market and a laundry, so you really only need the hotel as a place to sleep.

They made me mad.

When we were bumped from our flight, they wouldn't give us refund! We had the airline call immediately, we went to the hotel to try to resolve it 2 days later, we emailed numerous times, all to no avail. I even had a letter from the airline explaining that it wasn't our fault! I'm sure it is a nice hotel, but their policies suck!

Pretty island, but rI g road to our hotel was flooded after 3 years of heavy rain. Finally found someone to lead us thru back street. We had the option of parking our rental car on the mainland, but we're told it was safe in front of the hotel. Got sideswipe at 11:30 pm. Wish we' d parked on the mainland and taken a TukTuk back. Also, we were up 3 flights of stairs. Great view, but my 66 year old knees weren't happy. Nice hotel, though.

My room was off the top terrace. It had a great view, was clean and had everything I needed. There was hot water in the shower only but that was fine.

I only stayed one night. I walked to dinner at a spot recommended by the hotel staff - it was great.

The phone didn't work in the morning when I needed a cab but we just hailed one of many tuktuks that were driving by.

Perfect choice

Stayed in two different rooms for one night each. The first room had a lake view balcony and was generally really nice except for a couple of ants in the room. Other than that, it was great for the price. Second room had an interior view and was in good condition with no cleanliness or bug issues.

I'd like to think that the bugs were because of the environment and lake view.

Staff didn't speak any English but that caused no problems for me.

Super quiet hotel in Flores with lovely views off of the balcony. It's a pretty hotel. Our shower's hot water wasn't stable, and neither was the Wi-Fi, but everything else was wonderful. The staff was incredibly nice. The room was very clean and spacious. If you want a comfortable, quiet stay while in Flores, this is perfect.

I was actually sent down the street to their sister hotel - Hotel Casona del Lago - with no change in rates. Although the single room was small, as expected, the air conditioning worked well and the swimming pool was a welcome relief after a day in the tropical environment.

We were thrilled to get a third floor room off the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. It was such a lovely spot to enjoy the peaceful views of the lake and the evening breeze.

The staff are very friendly an helpful, and the hotel is accessed through a locked gate of sorts where they buzz you in, so it's also quite safe.

The building is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable, well appointed, with A/C and nice soaps and artisan shampoos :) They also made the cutest towel elephant I've ever seen.

Free wifi for guests and they handle outgoing post and can arrange for taxis if needed.

Just a short walk to the night food market on the malecon.

There is a large deck that sometimes you have to share with others in the hotel, but a beautiful place to start the day. There are a few minor quirks but they add to the charm. Surely my daughter and I had the best room, 3rd floor, over looking the lake! Just gorgeous views!! Only problem was with internet and they tried very hard to resolve in the night, but next morning was working well. So probably not really the fault of hotel. We drove and there IS a problem on the entire island of Flores to park, but if you are coming in on public transport no problem.. Chonita, is just a warm reception and of course a wealth of information.

Lovely hotel overlooking the lake. Clean rooms.

This was a lovely hotel with very smiley staff although no-one who spoke English. The rooms were clean and towels folded into beautiful shapes. We stayed for two nights and whilst we went to Tikal for a night the hotel looked after our bags when we went.

Be warned though. A man met us at the bus and walked us to the Hotel and spoke some English and persuaded us to buy our sunset/sunrise Tikal tickets, travel to and fro and our trip out of Guatemala back to Mexico. He said the hotel prices were very expensive and started trying to cut a deal with us. We agreed to go to our room and on our return he caught us standing outside and took us to his 'office'. It looked like a real tourist office and he showed us a board with prices on it which he then cut in half. We mistakenly went with him and later found out we had been ripped off paying 3 or 4 times what we should have. 2 days later on our return to Flores he called to say he had a better transport deal for us with an Air con bus which we had now discovered all the other travellers we met were going on.

At the border we were asked our opinion of the Country by a fluent English speaking member of the tourist board. We described this experience and she knew this man - who had a big scar on the left side of his face and said he had been in prison for this before. Be warned that this man has carried out this scam all over Guatemala and the lady said that tourists need to report it to the police.

Charming lakeside hotel on Isla de Flores

Casazul is a small hotel overlooking Lago Peten Itza. Although our room was not on the lakeside, we had easy access to the third floor veranda, where we spent a lot of time enjoying the breeze and view. The staff was friendly and helpful, although we did need to be able to communicate in Spanish.

Great situation

Overall an excellent stay. All of the rooms seem to have balconies, but only some of them look over the water. Mine looked over the street, but it was much less hot on that side and it was fun watching people on the street. The hotel was near all the restaurants and bars and directly in front of the launch for San Miguel. The staff does not speak English, but they are very friendly and very accomodating.
