Exceeded our expectations even though the room was fairly compact. Great use of space with cubbies storage area for clothing. Clean and updated. Soft bed. The Hotel Gideon located within the altstadt/old town city walls of Nuremberg. Just a short walk from the train station/Hbf. Very friendly and hospitable at the front desk. Would enjoy staying here again. Did not have the breakfast. Loved spending time seeing everything right outside the hotel.

Room was clean and overlooked one of the main streets so we like the liveliness but may not be for others who are looking for a quieter place. We enjoyed our stay of 1 night. We did not try breakfast. We were able to leave our bags with the front desk after check out. Their front desk is not open 24 hours so those arriving or late will have to use a lockbox.

Excellent location for Christmas Market in Nuremberg.
7 minute walk from train station and also 7 min walk to the center of Xmas market. Room size is not big, but sufficient. Breakfast is ok.
My only concern is internet connection can be intermittent.

Nice stay of 3 nights with an initial glitch -upon arrival my room was only half -cleaned, with fresh (i hope) sheets on one mattress, no sheets on the other, and a used plastic cup in the bathroom. The garbage had been emptied and towels replaced so i guess the housekeeper had run out before finishing? Minimal amenities--shower gel but no shampoo, no English on TV. Safe and convenient location, kind staff, and very quiet room made for a restful sleep.

A lost wallet was found by hotel staff and I was notified in time to retrieve it before I had to depart. Cash and cards were all accounted for; kudos to the staff for their integrity! The rooms a bit basic but were a good value for the affordable rates. The location is a good compromise between the train station and the old city attractions, we enjoyed the beautiful city.

Quaint sweet hotel

Great little hotel, close to the christmas market. Parking was a little awkward, but the parkhaus was very cool. We took a few minutes to drop off luggage at the front of the hotel then i went to park.

We booked two of the same rooms for our family of 4 (2 teens & parents) thru Expedia but we were given two different sized rooms at check in. The smaller one was too small for 2 people and as a result my husband indicated he would not stay there again if given that room. The larger room was comfortable for 2. Both were clean and well maintained.

Also experienced some issues at check in with their “online” checkin process. After completing everything in their online system two times (due to 2 rooms) they couldn’t get it to update and finally ended up having to write it all down manually. Their electronic checkin process needs improvement!

Additionally, parking is not very convenient due to being a garage that is a bit of a hike with suitcases. Otherwise location was nice and in a great area of town. Lots of restaurants & shopping nearby.

The hotel has a serious staffing problem - reception closed at 1pm the day of our arrival and 2pm when we departed. This was a problem; we needed a place to leave our luggage until our train at 6pm and quite reasonably expected to do so at our hotel, but we were denied. Otherwise, Gideon is a first-rate hotel, which makes the service failure really glaring and troublesome.

This property is convenient and walking distance to Christmas markets, local shopping, the castle and many cathedrals. The room was pleasant but there was no internet access. The windows open to the square, making it nice to sit, sip and watch the activity in the square. Keep in mind, there is no refrigerator in the room.

The location is good, a bit noisy at night from the people in the Main Street. We had a corner room and the wifi doesn’t work well. We had to stand in the door way. The pillows were too flat and the heater doesn’t work. The room was too cold in the winter. There’s no coffee maker or tea pot to make a hot cup of tea in a cold room.

We loved this property. It is only a 6 minute walk from the train station. It is only a couple of minutes away from the Christmas markets. The imperial castle is not very far away. There are lots of dining and shopping options around this hotel. The traditional Franconia restaurants are further up hill. The staff were great and looked after our bags until we could check in. The room was quite spacious, quiet and clean. We would stay again

Great location near food and nightlife

Interesting hotel that appears to be a repurposed older building. You actually have to walk through an alley and a hallway to an elevator that takes you to reception. Nothing wrong with that, it comes with the territory when you're in the heart of the city. Location was great for nightlife/food/etc. Not so hot for parking, but there were a couple of parking garages within 2-3 blocks of the hotel. Breakfast was in the \"attic\" and was quite delicious, with smiling, helpful staff. We had a room overlooking a main thoroughfare, so there was a little noise outside, just something to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper. Only there for one night but enjoyed wandering the city just a few blocks from the hotel.

I would have liked somewhere comfortable to sit in the room, perhaps a window bench…. Bathroom is very small, would benefit from some more shelving and some hooks for hanging hand towels.
Breakfast was good, staff on one morning could have been friendlier and actually engaged with guests. Other staff were lovely, helpful, warm and welcoming.
I was disappointed that the roof top deck bar was not open in the afternoon and evening.

Great hotel across the the train station and right in the pedestrian zone. It was quiet and so cinvenient. Our room was not very large but worked just fine. Renovated and clean. The only thing missing was a frig. Great stay!

This was a 4 min walk from the christkindl market and right downtown. Make sure to ask about parking before you go there as they have a reduced rate in a nearby parking garage.
Room was clean, comfortable and private. Entry to hotel is secured by Rfid cards. We felt safe. Very pleasant employees and the boutique hotel is just really neat. The breakfast for a fee is worth it ! Enjoy your stay

If arriving late, they send you an email with which lock box your key will be in with the code to get in it. Once in your room, they have the WiFi code on paper. Arrived at midnight & it worked perfectly, esp for a short stay. Individually controlled air con was great end of sept even though it was cool outside! Saw a courtyard that housed some guests bikes. Perfect location in old town & quiet/good sleep.

The property was lovely and I had an amazing view. be prepared to check yourself in though. I was sent clear instructions and had no trouble picking up my room key and getting my hotel room. If you need a front desk or room service it might not be the place for you but for me it was perfect. I got to town late on the train and just needed a place to rest for the night. very close to many bars, the train station, and a beautiful Christmas market.

Perfect location for exploring the old town area

Easy to find, easy check-in. Our window overlooked Konigstrasse and it might have been noisy at night but a huge downpour quickly emptied the street. Room was surprisingly big by European standards. Double bed was the usual split, but plenty comfy. Pillows thin and lumpy, few scuffs on the walls. Other than that it's a nice hotel, simple, modern, everything we needed for a one night stop over. Great location.

The location was great. The room was quite spartan (for example, no facial tissue present - had to request from front desk, no hair conditioner, nor body lotion provided) and cramped; shower doors did not seal well, and leaked considerable water onto the floor (routinely leaving the floor towel soaking wet).
Hotel staff, although friendly, are not readily available 24/7 (front desk is not staffed during the hours between 10 pm and 6 am). Was the only hotel we stayed in during our 3 weeks trip that did not have a more diversified TV selection, nearly all stations in German only (good for learning German language, but had only 1 Korean station in English and 1 Cuban channel in Spanish).

We liked everything but finding the property. It has a very obscure entrance on a one way street and we had trouble finding it. Once we did, there was no place to safely unload our luggage from our car. And you park you car several blocks away. Except for these issues, we enjoyed our one-night in the hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was very nice. The breakfast was included and very good.

Would have liked maybe a travel kettle in the room. Description stated bottled water was provided in the room. There was one small bottle (only one glass) on the day we arrived which we drank that day. We stayed a further 3 nights but no more water was provided.

This was one of our favorite places to stay. The ceilings are high. The curtains were dark. The light in the bathroom was good. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of plug ins for our tech gear. The shower was nice. It's very conveniently located. We loved the breakfast options. It's a small boutique hotel. We'd definitely stay there again!
