Wonderful hotel, beautifully restored. The service was top notch. We couldn’t get a reservation at Blue Wings Saloon nearby for Valentine’s Day, and the owner / manager made it happen for us - which was a welcome treat after a long day of travel. Will definitely stay again, here or at any other property of this group.

This place is a gem! The room was spotless with several nice touches. I got a patio room with the outdoor soaking tub, i used it frequently. One of the best perks i never would have known I would appreciate so much. The Blue Wing was great, just get the porkchop. The staff at both the Hotel and the Blue Wing were all great. I will be back!

Room was big, beautifully decorated and a great balcony which you could use during rain or shine.
It was great to actually have cutlery that wasn’t plastic or wooden which is what we experienced in every hotel we stayed in during our road trip of California, also to use china tableware instead of throwaway plastic or paper plates.
Great restaurant attached to the hotel, live music and fantastic/funny waitress.
Would highly recommend both hotel and restaurant.

We stayed 2 nights in 2 different unique, beautiful rooms. The first room was cottage with an outdoor soaking pool. The pool was wonderful. Heating was set for our check in. Only one quirk… the front door window just under the blinds/above door knob corner of window let’s the outside light come into room just at eye level hitting you in the eyes while laying in bed at night. I have a hard time sleeping with light, like that. But I brought my eye mask and was able to block that light out.

The second room was in the main hotel with a claw tub. It was wonderful as I LOVE a great indoor soaking tub. The room was very clean & nicely decorated. We love music and were able to sit in the balcony outside our room with friends and listen the the Blues Band playing in the restaurant patio adjacent to the hotel.

We ate 1 night at the restaurant Nextdoor. Our meal was delicious. Just a bit of a mix up. I called to make reservations at an early time (b/c they were having a very large Birthday event for the leader of the Blues Band). They told us we didn’t need a reservation if we were coming at an early time. However we did need them. They fit us in a table that was next to tge servers station (not ideal but adequate). Unfortunately, many of the shops/restaurant on the street the hotel is on have closed. So we are our few other meals at very good restaurants in Kelseyville and Lakeport. Overall we had a wonderful time.

Stopped for one night on our way from Lassen Volcanic Park to Fort Bragg. We just loved this hotel! So comfortable and beautifully decorated. The staff was very nice and the wonderful pool was a plus. I highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful place to stay in Upper Lake

This is a very cool hotel with a great staff. The room was really clean and comfortable with a terrific balcony overlooking the restaurant's courtyard. There are other options to stay at in the area, but if you are looking for a very nice, comfortable and unique experience, I can't think any other place even comes close to this.

Property was clean, quiet and beautiful with flowers, lights and very well maintained. Restaurant directly next to hotel was wonderful and had a neat covered outdoor area to listen to live music. Room was adorable, very clean and bed was so comfortable. We had an upstairs room (carrying luggage up was a bit strenuous , but worth it! We enjoyed the outdoor balcony looking over the property.
We loved this quaint little place that had such a great ambiance and peaceful atmosphere.

The inn was in a quiet safe area. Our room was clean and spacious—the bed was just a little soft for my preference but others may find it acceptable. My only complaint was the continental breakfast. The only protein was a boiled egg. I gave a gluten allergy and would have welcomed some items without gluten.

after a full morning we came back to the hotel for a late nap. there was some very loud banging I looked out the door and saw a staff member walking away. I looked out the bathroom window and saw a woman in her tub Im sure she had some expectations of privacy. if not for the noise I would not have been curious and looked I thought it might have been the ghetto yard behind

Beautiful historic Hotel in a beautiful area

What a beautiful and historic hotel. The entire experience was lovely. The location was perfect for us - out of the way tucked in a tiny town with a coffee shop and a restaurant and a couple of small stores. It was off season, and that was perfect for us. The weather was gorgeous and we were surrounded by mountains and birds...

Breakfast was delicious but short for those of us that like to sleep in or those of us that like to leave at the crack of dawn to go explore... 8am - 9:30am.

I would have given them a higher score, but the bed didn't agree with my back, the room was located facing the street and the lighting at night was bright, which is not a bad thing - just some better coverage for the windows.

Other than that, it was a great stay!

Charming and quaint

Front desk was so friendly and helpful. They even texted us ahead of time for directions to check in if we got in late. Room was lovely; bed was unexpectedly comfortable. Gorgeous views accompanied a decent restaurant next door (with GREAT staff). Sad we didn't get enough time here. Would return!

AWSOME!!! picture is exactly the room i will return property is very clean and staff is courteous and tentative to your needs the pool is great and the light breakfast they service is fresh no hot stuff but good fruit and delicious pastry. not to mention the live music they have out on the patio which is connected to the blue wing restaurant love there food atmosphere is relaxing you will need to stay in one of ther cottages too!!

The perfect Lake County get-away

I adore the Tallman! It isn't cheap but is a lovely splurge. The rooms are so comfortable and beautifully appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is yummy - a selection of European style pastries, steel-cut oatmeal with lots of toppings, fresh juice, yogurts, hard-boiled eggs and great coffee. Having the Blue Wing Saloon as an integral part of the hotel is convenient and enhances the overall fantastic experience. Love, love, love the Tallman!!

Tallman is a wonderful tribute to the local history - incorporating a deep respect to the local flora and fauna with nature themed decor. This was such a special experience for my mom and I. We enjoyed and luxuriated in the very lovely suite and soaking tub.

We stayed in the main hotel. The room was clean and pretty. I would definitely return here but maybe stay in a cottage. Has their own parking lot but there’s no issue with finding parking on the street. Upper lake as a town is fairly run down so the hotel seems a little out of place. Rundown but not dangerous or unsafe. Lots of great outdoor seating area to relax but we went in early September when it’s over 100 degrees so we didn’t hang outside much until sun went down or early morning. Pool is small. Restaurant across the way is good. A little pricey. As for complaints, check in us at 4 which is on the later side and considering that check out is 1030 I think they could make checkin earlier.

The building was historic and charming and the courtyard was nice. Check-in was awkward. I have documentation from the hotel that says check-in is 3 PM and check-out is 11 AM. When I tried to check-in a little before 3, the clerk said, with attitude, \"check-in is 4 PM always has been. I told her about the documentation I had and she stared at me and said \"check-in is 4 and always has been.
Similarly, when we got to our room, there was a terse preprinted card which state that check-out is 10:30 AM and we would be charged if we stayed even one minute longer.
What is wrong with these people...SO UNPROFESSIONAL and annoying!

Quaint and nice

The historical hotel was comfy and private. I’d recommend this hotel if you want to go off the grid for a few days cuz not much in that town. Lots of rivers and boating very close so if you like water sports you might enjoy this area.

My husband was born and raised in Upper Lake and we decided to stay here for Anniversary. They hotel was very nice, high ceilings, nice furniture and attention to historical period pieces (like the knobs on the bathroom sink, and enormous clawfoot tub). Would recommend this place to stay.

A surprise gem!!

Wow!!! This hotel was such a nice surprise. Once you enter you feel like you’re in a hidden villa! The rooms are beautiful and HUGE. Pretty private considering. The service was amazing. Little touches. Because they couldn’t fulfill the complimentary continental breakfast because of Covid. They had you fill out a list and brought it to your door at the requested time! My only compliant- is that we got room 7, which is directly down from the restaurant exhaust. So we couldn’t use the BEAUTIFUL patio deck we were given because hamburger exhaust was flying in our faces. And it’s a bit pricey. Overall- we will for sure be back. Just will ask for a different room.
