Mariposa was a peaceful retreat. We stayed in one of the tree houses and enjoyed reading on the deck in the hammock in the afternoon. The staff were friendly and did a great job making it feel like home for the week.

Staff was very courteous and helpful. We style in one of the « Treehouse « rooms and enjoyed the covered deck. The restaurant had a limited menu but the food was excellent! Everything was spotless. The only negative was one night of noisy neighbors til midnight. The facility is a couple of miles from downtown so transportation costs can be high if you don’t use the complementary bicycles.

Loved this place! We were greeted with an offer of a cool refreshing towel and a welcome drink. The treehouse bungalows were so cool too! Very clean and accommodating. The staff was very accommodating as well, especially Marlin who drove us around town and even included friends that stayed down the beach. Oh, and this place is right on the beach with a beautiful deck, pool and beach setup. Great view! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Very clean, beautiful tree house. Staff are very kind and welcoming. Great location! And Beachfront!

While we were there, the pool seemed a little dirty, but that may have just a one off thing. Everything else was perfect, beds and bathrooms were sparkling clean.

We would stay again if in the area in the future.
Beaches down the street are remarkable.

Go explore, barefoot beach bar and Chillpoint were excellent spots!

The manager was kind and responsive when we checked in and the welcome towel and drink was a delightful surprise. We had a treehouse room that was beautiful and the natural decorations on the beds were amazing. There were many cute Instagram worthy places to sit and take pictures. The food was fresh, well prepared and nicely presented.

The resort is beautiful and elegant we stayed in a \"tree house\" in a landscaped \"jungle-garden\" inspired setting. I was so pleased with our little private piece of paradise. The AC was excellent, great wi-fi, plenty of outlets and the bathroom was spacious with built-ins. Staff was super friendly and the front of the house took exceptional care of us. Mariposa is quite close to the village as resorts go. It was a great blend of luxury and proximity.

We stayed in a deluxe garden room. It was like a cabin on stilts. The grounds were sooo clean too. Beautiful decor and very roomy! Nice bathroom and shower and loved the shampoo and conditioner which never happens for me on vacation. The beds were AMAZING. So comfortable and the blankets light but warm enough w the AC on. The staff were so friendly and helpful and fun. Shout out to Marlin, Cali, George and Gladis! Made our stay so special. The staff made the resort. It was probably one of the most memorable stays on our vacations.

Mariposa is the best kept secret in Placencia - my experience was excellent, end to end. It’s a beautiful beach front property with amazingly friendly staff (and central A/C!) that made our stay extremely enjoyable and memorable. We found it to be a great choice over some of the nicer, comparable options like Turtle Inn, since Mariposa has more of a boutique vibe, and we felt offered a better value overall.

I plan to return again next year and will definitely book here again.

We stayed at Mariposa when we arrived to Placencia and the last night before we returned home and it was perfect. Gladis was very welcoming at the reception, Donny was amazing at the restaurant and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. The bungalow was perfect for our family of 4, since they have bunk beds. The restaurant was good with a nice view of the ocean. They have nice swings, volleyball court, paddle boards and bicycles which is perfect to go in town. It’s less than 5 minutes drive from Placencia airport. The only thing is the ocean has so much seaweeds that it wasn’t nice to go in the water. Which is fine since we didn’t stay at this hotel for the ocean but just be aware that this strip of the island gets a lot of seaweeds…

The Mariposa was perfect from the start, even during our planning. They assisted us in our trip plans from Belize City to Placenia by booking our flights and providing information. They also provided transportation from the airport to the resort. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff and a tropical cocktail or mocktail.
Our accommodations in the tree house exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had plenty of amenities. It is also beautiful.
The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, accommodating, and resourceful.
The food and drinks at the restaurant on premises were delicious. There was a good variety of options as well as some authentic Belizean dishes. When I travel outside the U.S., I enjoy experiencing other cultures. We were able to do that at the Mariposa.
I’d like to mention that George, Miguel, Donny, and Gladys were exceptional. They went out of their way each and every time we wanted or needed anything. Donny really took special care of us in all aspects of our trip- food, recommendations for tours and places to eat or drink or shop. Gladys coordinated our tours for when we wanted to do them. We loved our stay at the Mariposa Resort. The staff were really attentive, giving us kindly advice on how to deal with the bug bites and itching. The only drawback of this and other properties is it is not walkable to anywhere. Rent a car or golf cart

We were not too impressed with the restaurant food for dinner. We waited over an hour and the watermelon salad was pretty much just watermelon with maybe a tablespoon of feta and 2 small tomatoes on it. The prices were way too high !
Breakfast, however was good.
The staff are friendly and helpful but it takes a long time to get a drink. They also don’t give you complimentary bottle water and the mini fridge is super expensive.
Over all the resort is over priced in our opinion.

The Mariposa was a simple lovely resort I was expecting something bigger and more crowded but this is small currently 11 rooms with an excellent and attentive staff. The pool area and beach in front were nothing fancy but nice. The location seemed perfect- removed enough from the town of placencia to feel quiet and private but close enough to ride the hotel loaner bikes into town and back several times. Food was ok - on par with other places we tried. We were here before the season got too busy so high staff to patron ratio and they were all great! Gladis, George, Oliver, Moises, Ricky, Donny all top notch. Highly recommend for a mid price \"resort\" Thank You!

Mariposa is located on the beautiful beach.The resort is very small and creates very cozy and private environment The resort is well maintained very close to local airport. They have little restaurant but we had rental car and explored local Placencia restaurants. The staff is very friendly. We booked treehouse but they have construction on the property grounds. The manager offered for us beachfront room that was quiet and far away from the construction site . We really appreciated the upgrade. We stayed in this resort for a second time and never been disappointed. Thank you all the staff and manger for awesome vocation. We will come back.

The pictures you see online are totally accurate. Its a beautiful resort. The locaton is perfect, about a 15 minute bike ride into placencia. The restaurant is excellent! Loved every meal. The staff are the best. We have never been treated so well. They were always smiling, always friendly. Its a small resort so you really feel comfortable and taken care of. We stayed in #9 and we could watch the sunrise every morning from our balcony. Highly recommend!!

Mariposa is a 50 min walk by beach to Placencia. Not recommended... too difficult to navigate - do not recommend. Taxi to town is $10 (US). Our room was Treehouse #1. You climb up several steps to your room.... very cool vibe. You are quite far from the beach and the restaurant, but the facility is very well maintained and beautiful in the trees, so the walk is lovely. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was okay. We were only there for 4 nights, so we went for dinner at the Turtle Inn down the road (walking distance) and had a lovely experience there with live music etc.
The Mariposa has a nice beach, but like all of Belize, not great swimming. They have a couple of kayaks we took out (free) as well as paddleboards. That was really fun. Their pool is pretty small but nice!

If you want a romantic secluded get away, this is the place to go. We loved our tree house in the trees. It felt like we had a luxury resort all to ourselves with a 5 star service. The pool was beautiful on the beach with pool side service. The restaurant is top rated and the food made this evident. Any of the seafood is amazing.

Clean, cozy, and excellent service. We stayed glide 7 nights, during “low season.” We had the resort to ourselves. We were upgraded to the suite with a balcony that overlooks the pool and ocean; it was gorgeous. The pool and beachfront are stunning; picturesque. All staff were kind and helpful. We had a bit of trouble with our AC and internet; both were addressed promptly. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Simply the best resort in the area

Mariposa was simply AMAZING! The treehouses are gorgeous and well maintained. The room was so clean and decorated with fresh flowers. The staff were so attentive and always friendly. The food was better quality than most anywhere- hats off to the chief for being one of the very best. I would recommend this resort to everyone as a must do.

We were only here for 1 night and we would LOVE to come back!! It was absolutely darling. It is very small - just little treehouses (maybe 12) and a small handful of workers running the place doing multiple jobs. They were all incredibly nice. Darling little breezy bar, nice quiet pool and beach area. Property was totally clean and they attended to every need. Cold towels and a drink on arrival. Fresh flowers on the bed. They delivered cereal bowls and milk to our sleeping teens, ha while we had breakfast oceanside. We had dinner there and it was delicious. This is the perfect spot if you just need to chill in paradise for a few days.

can’t recommend this place strongly enough- especially for a stop coming/going thru Placencia. wonderful staff, very well cared for grounds with delightful dining/pool/beach area. we stayed in a lovely “treehouse” room that was charming, clean and well appointed. this was the perfect place to “recover” from a ten day sailing adventure before heading to airport (a 45 second drive) this next morning. food great too!

My 12-year old son and I stayed one night here - the last night of our Belize vacation. This was the nicest of all the places we stayed in. We had a treehouse and it was so comfortable, clean, and peaceful. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We used the complimentary bikes to get downtown and had ice cream at Tutti Fruitti, which I recommend.
Note that the Placencia airport is very close which makes this a convenient place to stay if you are flying back to BZE to get home.

The property was impeccably take care of. It was very clean. The beach and location was quite pleasant. The amenities were super. We visited Mariposa Beach Resort in early June and stayed in one of the treehouses. The staff was fantastic. Donnie, Gladys, Miguel, Ricky, Carlos, and the whole team listened to our needs and exceeded our expectations.

The accommodations were well appointed, the beds were very comfy, rooms and public areas were kept clean, and the grounds were well maintained. Mariposa’s location on the peninsula cannot be beat. Others may advertise a close proximity to the village, but Mariposa truly is only a five minute golf cart ride. We strongly recommend renting one for your visit and venturing into the village for shopping, an occasional meal off property, and some night life.

The food and drinks at The Breezeway were also fantastic. We especially enjoyed the breezeway salad, shrimp ceviche, and perfectly prepared snook.

Placencia is a great spot if you’re looking to avoid the crowds of San Pedro and want a combination of a relaxing beach get away and exciting excursions.

This place was awesome! The tree house was spectacular, super clean and amazing beds and bathroom. The pool was great for my son and they even had kids toys and a life vest for him. Everyone that worked there was so friendly and helpful. They had the doctor come to the resort for our COVID tests to get home and that made it so much less stressful. And the best part was how the food was such a pleasant surprise. We had just come from a jungle lodge that had sub par food so this was such a relief. The owner and the staff were all fabulous, we wish we’d spent our entire stay here!

Lewis and the Team at Mariposa Belize Beach Resort are excellent. From the moment we arrived for our 1 week stay with them they made us feel at home. Safe and Comfortable. Spotless. Modern. All the amenities, at a very fair cost. We stayed in one of the Tree Houses and enjoyed the wonderful feeling of being inside the Jungle canopy--with tropical birds and iguana's peppered throughout the tree tops in our view. We did a number of day trips--all convenient from the resorts location near Placencia and Maya Beach. We sea kayaked, swan and snorkeled right from the resort. We watched other guests fish from the resort and catch fish! On one of our kayaking trips we saw small stingrays and a manatee! One night we used the resorts bikes and went next door to the Turtle Inn (Copolla) for cocktails--a very beautiful location--and then we returned to Mariposa for Dinner--as the food at Mariposa was excellent--and much less expensive than Turtle and some of the better restaurants in Placencia and Maya Beach. Our last night we had cocktails at the Breezeway (Mariposa's restaurant) made by their Mixolist Miguel--Fantastic Pumpkin Rum Mojito's with burnt cinnamon stirrers. The morning we had to leave, it was a sad farewell at breakfast when Mariposa's morning team member Tiffany wished us safe travels! Even if you don't stay at the Mariposa--make sure you check out there restaurant the Breezeway as it has excellent food at an affordable price.

Best resort in Placencia!

I can’t recommend Mariposa resort enough. It’s location is great with unmatched ocean access. Great swimming right off the beach. There’s A pool and bar/restaurant beachfront, as well. Food and drinks are delicious and well priced. The owner, Lewis, and his staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful - they all went out of their way to make our stay just perfect. The air conditioning and recently updated bathrooms were an absolute treat. Our group was split across multiple properties in Placencia and all agreed Mariposa was the best. We can’t wait to go back!

Comfortable stay. Welcoming warm staff.

Great food, friendly staff, and comfortable bed. We love staying here whenever in Placencia. Despite a rainy few days; it was nice to chill at the pool and still catch some sun here, and visit with the onsite dogs. Always love the intimate setting at this spot. Definitely worth returning for.

Beautiful resort with friendly staff that met our every need. We stayed in a treehouse that was spacious, private and exactly as shown in listing. The facility is very well maintained, inside and out. Although just minutes from town, we found the food at the resort to be superior and highly recommend. What could be better than an amazing view, beach just steps away, pool overlooking the beach and wonderful staff that made sure we had everything we wanted? We can’t wait to come back!

This is a quiet,little piece of paradise. The owners are right there and very kind and helpful. The staff is friendly and the property is kept clean. Lovely beach,pool and bar. The food at the resort is also very good. I would definitely stay again, great resort for a couple or families.
