Beautiful, modern hotel right on the beach. The staff was fantastic, helping with our every need.
The restaurant was the best we ate at in Belize. Try the herbed snapper and conch fritters. Also, great cocktails.

Staff was great, really great. Probably the best restaurant on the island. My wife also liked the spa. Housekeeping was a bit uneven but got sorted out.

The big problems are: (1) the furniture in the room was uncomfortable-you sit down on the furniture and there is so little padding you realize you’re sitting on the wood frame of every piece; and (2) for God’s sake put a decent coffee maker in the kitchen - not a WW2 relic.

Best hotel experience we have ever had. Rooms were clean, decorated nicely, the beach area is very convenient and well kept. Vanessa at the pool bar makes some amazing cocktails. The rooftop restaurant has great views and tasty food. Teresa at the front desk spoiled us by ensuring everything went smoothly, booked restaurant reservations and excursions for us, and was absolutely lovely to chat with. I can’t recommend the Ellysian enough, we would go back in a heart beat.

We had a wonderful stay at the Elysian Hotel in Placencia and can’t say enough about how warm and welcoming the staff were. Traveling with young kids can be challenging, but the team here went out of their way to make everything easy and comfortable for our family. From thoughtful help day-to-day to genuine kindness toward our children, it truly made a difference in our trip.

Our room was spacious and easily accommodated our family of five, which is not always easy to find. Housekeeping was excellent—our room was always spotless—and the service at the bar was consistently friendly and attentive. Overall, the Elysian felt relaxed, well cared for, and very family-friendly. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it, especially for families traveling with kids.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at this beachfront hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming, and beautifully taken care of. The views were stunning — waking up to the sound of the ocean and watching the sunset from our balcony was pure magic.

We have to give a special shout-out to Jose, who was truly amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure every part of our stay was perfect. Whether it was offering great local recommendations, checking in to ensure we had everything we needed, or just being incredibly friendly and professional, Jose made a huge difference. His genuine hospitality stood out and made us feel right at home.

The rest of the staff were just as wonderful — attentive, cheerful, and always ready to help. Our room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. We also loved the beachside restaurant; the food was delicious and the atmosphere unmatched.

Overall, this hotel exceeded every expectation. Beautiful location, excellent service, and truly memorable moments. We can’t wait to come back!

We had an overnight stay after a week at sea. We wish we stayed longer! The dinner was amazing with top notch service. The beachfront room was beautiful and the poolside bar was a nice touch. Wonderful property and amenities!

As ive seen in other reviews, very nice people here.

However, the speed of service both at the resutaurant and regarding room cleaning and laundry services are quite slow.

We came in summer, slower season. But it took an hour or more for each meal and our laundry took over 12 hours when they had said it would be done by the time we returned that day from an excursion leaving ys without clean laundry at night.

Dinner at Muna had only 3 tables yer it took over an hour for our food to come out. 3 employees talked in front of house while we sat for hour straight and then food came out overcooked and it was frustratijng. In the end, the food tassted good but it was 2 hours by the time we left.

I would recommend others to go there, as it's one of the nicest places in the area but be prepared to spend some time waiting on services. Our experience may not be the norm.

This is a clean hotel with some upscale amenities. Although the staff was friendly and accommodating. I was very disappointed in our transportation arrangements and poor communication. During our booking, the representative stated they were official booking agents for mya air and would arrange for our transportation from the international airport to the hotel. I provided my international flight information and my travel companion‘s name and the time of our arrival we were told there would be an additional charge which was agreeable. At no time was I made aware that we would not be flying and rather we would be charged $430 for a three hour car ride from the airport to the hotel. We spent about an hour at the Mayan air counter, trying to find our reservation and then another 20 minutes trying to contact the hotel. Additionally, we did not receive any of our VIP upgrades on booking through Expedia as expected. The rooms are not equipped with coffee makers. There’s no coffee in the lobby and the restaurant was not open during our stay. This makes it very difficult if you have any excursions planned and are leaving early.

Dream vacation!

From the warm welcome at the airport pickup, to the friendly and wonderful front desk staff, to the beautifully maintained ground and our very comfortable and classy room this stay was 5 star. Highly recommended and we really enjoyed our stay! Excellent location to find cute coffee shops, little stores and great dining options all steps away. The restaurant on site is also very good and we enjoyed both lunch by the pool and a lovely rooftop breakfast. Can't wait to go back!

We loved our stay. Everything was wonderful from the view to the accommodations. The staff is AMAZING! Vanessa was our favorite as we spent the most time with her. We loved our personalized notes each night as well.

The only negative is that the huge balcony only had a small sofa type bench to utilize. Would have loved to have a small table and chairs with a couple lounges.

The Ellysian was a fantastic stay for our family of 4. It is a great location - beachfront and a nice enough deep pool. The staff are exceptional - super friendly and helpful. They really stood out as soooooo nice! The location is great - walk to everything. The room was also very clean and appointed well with plenty of towels, fridge, microwave... even though we brought our own toiletries, my kids loved the hotels shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The restaurant is also quite good. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

It was a very good location. The hotel was quiet and the food was good. The housekeeping was very poor and had to beg to get creamers for my coffee in the morning.
The hotel staff really didn't like cleaning the rooms.
The equipment for water activities was broken.

Paradise in Placencia!

Absolutely lovely spot in the village within walking distance of everything. Gorgeous pool and beach. Exceptional staff. Rooms are posh for sure. Ask for first or second floor as there isn't an elevator but strong folks took care of luggage! Definitely coming back.

This property advertises itself as a \"luxury boutique\" hotel. It was neither. The bathroom floor was dirty and not cleaned in spite of my request. Bath towels were tattered and worn; shower tiles had black mildew patches. We had only two beach towels for two guests and were denied others when I requested them. I had to insist I be given more than two towels after my repeated requests for towels at a beach resort were denied. There was no evidence of a manger. There wasn't anything hanging on the white walls of the guest room, while the small lobby had three large matching abstract canvases spray painted in red paint. The interiors were drab though very white. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning worked well. Outdoor seating banquettes at restaurant were rotted and did not support our sitting on them. Restaurant staff were friendly. In summary, we felt this was an unmanaged, disappointing hotel that was too costly for the accommodations and service offered.

The people were awesome, location awesome, bed and bathroom awesome…
However, the furniture in the living areas and balcony was not comfortable… it was attractive but not comfortable. It seemed as though whoever decorated the room was more concerned on having a certain modern “look” than to comfort and convenience. Could have also used a desk and a small table with chairs.

5 amazing nights in a paradise

It’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s new and wonderfully maintained. All staff was super attentive and helpful. They took care of us so well: taxi rides. excursions and everything we needed we got from the personnel of the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, huge bathrooms and balcony. The beach is so nice and private. We miss the Ellysian Boutique already and can’t wait be back one day

This review provides an in-depth analysis of our stay at The Ellysian.

While the property lists multiple amenities, be aware that airport transfer is not free.

The hotel offers room service and a pool bar for its guests. However, on one day during our stay, we were informed that the restaurant, room service, and pool bar would be closed. Despite the lack of these services, we were still charged the full rate for that day, which I believe should have been discounted. The following day, the pool bar remained closed as well.

We dined at the rooftop restaurant, Muna, on two occasions. The first night, I ordered the stew chicken, which I would rate 3/10, the seasoning was lacking. However, I decided to give them another try and ordered the grilled pork chop the next night, which was excellent—9/10. My wife had pasta both nights, and both dishes were solid, earning an 8/10. The first night, the temperature in the restaurant was comfortable with the AC keeping us cool. However, the second night, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. They had the doors open, hoping for a breeze, but it never came. Despite this, Arlan provided good service.

The hotel’s location is convenient, situated on the boardwalk. Can walk the entire boardwalk in 15 minutes. Shadine was very friendly.

The bathrooms could use some renovations. The garbage can and toilet brush holder were rusted. The tiles have little chips missing out of some of them. glass door leading to the pool from our room huge crack.

Great location, best staff, bad policies

We stayed at the Ellysian for a little over a week in July. The property itself is a nice small boutique hotel and has beautiful grounds. There is also a restaurant on the roof.
Our stay had a rough start as maid service let themselves in after the first night, and this wasn’t a big deal as they had just forgotten to leave us a Do Not Disturb sign. They left us a sign a few miniatures after. However, the next morning we we intruded upon again. I double checked and we did hang the Do Not Disturb sign. I went to talk to the front desk and they apologized and said they had notes we were in an excursion and had left the sign up accidentally. While they were correct about the excursion, it had been cancelled due to weather. I don’t know I had to tell the hotel every day what my schedule was. Why not just respect the door sign like other hotels? Otherwise, they should add second locks inside the room door like other hotels. That was no chance of intrusion. We also had to move rooms due to noise from roof restaurant. Final seating is 8pm but guests were up there until after midnight and we had to be up early for excursion. So no uninterrupted sleep for 4/8 nights. Also staff used our shared balcony to run food to other rooms , so no privacy there either.
Overall amazing grounds, great front desk staff (special note to them for being so kind), mediocre food, and the best location in southern Belize. But some bad policies on cleaning and restaurant hours really ruined our sleep/trip

The location is nice, the hotel is beachfront. Pool is on the smaller side. Staff was accommodating. I wasn't really satisfied with the cleanliness/upkeep of bathroom (there were cracked tiles, stained caulk, and dirty baseboards) but if they did some minor work, it would be nice.

This is hands down the best property in Placencia! All hotel rooms are air conditioned, a huge plus in the hotter months. The staff is PHENOMENAL! Above and beyond. The location is great, the pool and beach access is truly spectacular. It will be the only place we stay in Placencia!

The highlight of this hotel is the staff. The reception personnel were professional, friendly, and went out of their way to help. The evening dining was exceptional--and the person who is in charge of this dining facility is outstanding. He treats everyone like family--and is happy to provide his own suggestions on the menu options (and he is always right!). The food preparation is exceptional. A special shout-out for the bar in the pool area. Certainly, this staff person knows mixology, but more than that, she always has a smile and lets you know that she is there to help. A real asset to the Ellysian!

Jacqueline and Shinellie at reception were great at handling any issues also Venessa and Justin were very friendly awesome servers at the pool bar. Incredible stay! Fantastic location with very welcoming staff. There were issues with the plumbing in the room reserved but they upgraded us to the Penthouse suite a no extra charge. This room was incredibly beautiful. A couple minor plumbing issues that were quickly rectified. They delivered a personalized note every evening and were extremely responsive. Shadine at the front desk was a very informative and kind human. Thank you for making our time in Placencia so fantastic. Strongly recommend this gem of a hotel.

This has been my favorite stay of all time (and I've stayed in countless properties.) This is 5 star service all around. First, their bartender, Vanessa, makes the best mojitos and the welcome drinks are amazing. Second, the entire front desk staff is top notch. Both with making sure we had everything we needed, managing reservations, and the amazingly personalized notes sent during turn down on a tray with a candle... I am just in awe at how many details and amenities we had during our stay. The room had everything we could ever need and the ocean view was amazing. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job at keeping the room spotless. Everyone and everything was just amazing.
