motel no longer open

arrived to check in on July 25, 2025 and found motel closed and out of business. no one contacted me from Hotels.com or Motel 6 in Llion, NY to inform me that the hotel closed since I booked it in December 2024. Had to make other arrangements since it was the baseball hall of fame weekend and no other hotels were available. stayed one hour and a half from Cooperstown, NY.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This is not a real hotel. It’s a run-down shell of a place in a scary part of town. It was totally deserted (one ONE car in the parking lot), had notices from the city in the front door about illegal long term rentals, smelled of cigarettes and pee and appeared to not even be a working hotel. Totally abandoned, not a soul in sight. A hand written cardboard note in the lobby said “close”. Some of the rooms appeared to be where squatters were living. A scary experience. DO NOT GO HERE.

Arrived only to learn that the property was CONDEMNED back in April! (Ever try to book a last minute 3-night stay anywhere within an hour of Cooperstown on Hall of Fame weekend? There is a reason I booked 6 months in advance, and even then it was slim pickings!) Perhaps some day we’ll look back on this and laugh, but today is not that day.

This was a replacement night for a hotel I had booked 8 months ago. When we arrived there, it was boarded up and out of business since April(3 months ago). Took an hour for Hotels.com to find a room. Hotel was pretty dated and rundown. Room was ok.

This was the dirtiest, nasty hotel ive ever stayed at. Worried about bed bugs. Slept on top of bed fully clothed & even kept my shoes on.
Comforter had large cigarette burn holes in it.
Room smells like smoke. Nats flying around & had to kill some other bugs. Never again.

Our tv wouldnt work. Two different staff came down and after 1 hour it worked. Thee outside of the hotel was not good looking. I had to clean the hot tub out before we could use it. The jets hardly worked and the when i set the timer it turned on a fan in the ceiling. The sheets had holes in them and the pillows were tiny. Staff was very nice though

It was a perfect no frills stop on our way to Maine from Chicago. Ashly (sp?) at check in was delightful.
We didn’t expect to experience the compare with London’s Dorchester but for about $700 bucks a night cheaper we were happy.

The staff family was polite and courteous but the place was a dump. The sheets and towels were thread bare. The wash cloths appeared clean but stained. The mattress cover was stained. There was a homeless person pushing a cart behind the building. The sidewalks were littered. The ice vending machine was unsanitary - use your bucket to scoop into open ice bin. The staff’s large dog barking behind the door as we walked/waited in the lobby to check in gave us pause. If there had been any other rooms available within driving distance we might have given up the non refundable cost!

The outside of the building and the lobby were nasty and dirty and way too expensive for the lack of \"curb appeal.\" The key cards would not open the door of my room, and the on site manager couldn't even open it with the master key. There's no telling how long that room may have been vacant. So she asked me to wait for a half hour while she prepared another room. I told her to cancel my reservation and I asked for my money back.

Got to our room and it smelled like stale smoke covered with air freshener. TV didn't work. The whole place smelled bad.
The girl at the front desk was very accommodating and got us another room which didn't smell quite so bad. But the place is not great.

We got there they had no computer system. I had no room so I lost out on all my money didn’t get to stay there had to go find a new hotel they had had no computer system for two days. Didn’t know I was coming did not have a room there for me they had a room that I didn’t want and the only room they had not the room I paid for,

Obviously the price was right. Room was clean, but no pillow cases on the pillows. Staff was slow in responding to our call. Needed fresh towels but no one at the desk our whole second night there or the next morning. Overall I grade our stay a “C”.

Horrible. Someone had left over ice cream in the freezer that was never cleaned out. The room was not worth 110 dollars for the night. I have stayed in red roof inn that was much cleaner and accommodating. Front door desk lady was courteous and helpful. But the building was run down, old, and I even cleaned all of my clothes and my luggage because I was worried of bed bugs.

It smelled of cigarettes.There were bugs (spiders, and beatles?) in the room. There was hair on the pillows and sheets which means they werent washed. It was cold in the room and we shivering all night. The towels had black marks on them. The walls were dripping with yellow/brown... something. And it had an overall vibe of homicide and human trafficking. But the guy at the front desk seemed nice even though it took several attempts to get his attention. 2/10 would only recomend to my enemies.

They tried to make us pay twice, they gave us and another couple the same room and then said they had no other rooms cleaned, then gave us another room that someone else was already in, manager called the cops on us when all parties involved tried to complain about all the problems they were causing their guests

Apparently there was a recent news story or some other information about the motel being used by the local Catholic Charities to house pedophiles, drug addicts, or other types of restricted people. During my two night stay at least 10-15 trucks and cars yelled profanities and other comments about getting jobs, get clean, leave the kids alone at me and other guests if anyone was in the parking lot. I will not ever stay at this property again regardless of the price based on the feeling of not being safe from the local townspeople.

It took about 20 minutes to check in . The girl at the desk was not answering the bell or the phone . The place was dirty my room had so many flies . There was a glue fly trap hanging from the ceiling. We had a problem with the tv it took awhile for someone to come back after looking at it to fix it and the WiFi didn’t work! I would not go there again!

The room that was assigned Bathroom was dirty, and door would not close, sink was clogs😡. They switch our room but bathroom was also dirty a little piece of soap for 3 people, refrigerator was dirty and freezer was covered in white freeze ice. Bugs in room. Had no other choice we had to stay

The room smelled so musty it was difficult to breathe, the air quality was terrible. The sheets were stained and had some human hairs on both beds. The entire property was dirty including the only person working there. The bathroom linen was horrible quality and cheap like paper and was thin, I booked for two nights and I couldn’t stay the second night because the smell was so bad I couldn’t sleep or breathe in there. The person working was nice and helpful however the place was very disgusting

This place is very run down but I figured it was just for the night. The room was disgusting, dirty, dead bugs on the ground, filthy floors (I was taking my shoes off), tiny fruit flies were flying all over. Bedsheets - Gross, Towels - Gross with lots of stains on them. We left and checked into a different hotel, I was not about to sleep there, ever!

Bathroom was in need of an update, but mostly worked well. Lots of hot water! Toilet was very slow to flush.
AC was ancient & took forever to cool the room, but kept it cool once it was at desired temperature.

when we arrived the room was not ready but they did have a power outage that day and were behind while we sat in our car in front of room107 you can tell that the person there was dealing in drugs so many people came and went picking up the noise and the running above and outside of the room went on all night when we went to check out there was nobody there just left the key never never again or recommend to anyone usless they need drugs

The area of the placement of the motel was nice as there was plenty of nearby restaurants and stores. However that would be the only good thing about the motel. Very unclean - there was hair in our trash and throughout the room, presumably fecal matter smeared on the wall near the toilet, the shower barely functioned, and the room was extremely stuffy and the smell of stale cigarettes lingered. The room itself was certainly not comfortable and I am very grateful we only had to stay there one night. Another thing that I would like to mention is that in the middle of the night we had random people banging on our room door. Although we are aware that this specifically isn't at the fault of the motel keeper as it is out of their control, I feel the need to mention it as that was another one of our deciding factors to not stay again at this motel, and to be quite honest, any motel 6's in our future.

Filthy, smoke odor, insects of all kinds on the walls and ceiling. Bathroom was the worst. No soap and towels smelled like cigarettes. Air conditioner was smashed, could not turn it off, up or down. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We were exhausted driving home, flies and other insects will buzz and keep you awake for the evening. Don’t expect anyone at the desk to help you. This place truly is a last resort outside of sleeping in your car.

Room had hardwood floors that needed to be cleaned. Microwave was small fridge still had a soda in it from a previous guest. Toilet and tub were discolored. Every time the door opened full veiw was grated to outsiders. Was awkward when my partner came back from a coffee run and i was undressesed at the sink and mirror which were not inside the bathroom but just outside the door. Room seemed to be recently painted, within the last year, a spider was painted into the door. Other than the cleanliness of the room, the biggest issue came as we returned from a day back to get ready to go out to dinner and the water in the faucet was running an orange rust brown color which did clear up by the time we came back from dinner.

The motel is under new management and it would be unfair to pass judgment on an entrepreneur who just bought a run down facility and is trying to fix it up. It doesn’t happen in a day. My advice would be to use a less smelly cleaning agent. It was bothersome but I have a sensitive nose. The bed was quite comfy and it was close to the highway.

The plumbing was awful. The plumbing drain smell filled the room. Sleeping was near impossible because the room literally smelled like the sewer drain. I closed the bathroom door, but the sink was in the room. I plugged the sink drain and wet a towel to cover the drain and drain return in the sink. The windows were painted shut. We spent every non-sleeping minute with the door wide open.

The room was quite dirty. It looked like a quick job had been done on the toilet, but poop stains were visible on the outside of the toilet. The door was damaged, hard to close, with a gap at the bottom that let in flies. And the whole room reeked of cheap air freshener.

Unfortunately, the road noise was distracting through the night. Red splatter was found on the bathroom baseboard. Thought it might be blood. bed way too soft.
toilet too close to the wall to sit safely.
ALSO - I was charged one fee (81.19) and quoted a different one when I checked in($63) No one knew why or how to claim the refund.

Unusual stay

The room itself was very basic, but the experience was just weird. When we were checking in, we were told that we couldn't drink the water because the town's pipes were being flushed. I guess this is always a possibility, but it was a Saturday night. Then, I found change (14 cents) in my bed under the tucked in sheets. I'm still hoping that these coins were from the pocket of the person who made the bed and (hopefully) cleaned the sheets and not the previous guest who had slept there. Either way, it was very weird all around.

Basic amenities but no hair dryer. It took 15 minutes to check in because the woman in front of us had credit card issues.

The owner or operator also thought I was potentially hoarding more than our 2 dogs, a question that made me feel watched and unwelcome. We spent a quick night here on our road trip.

There was bugs, roaches, mold, the ac filter was black, horrible spot. No lights outside. The fridge was yellow. The manager was very very nasty to me and my boyfriend. I asked to for a refund and the guy was very mean and said he would give me a penalty fee if I left. The ceiling leaked. There was bed bugs i have photos of everything. The lock in the door was completely broken. It was so dirty both of us got physically sick! I’m so upset and mad!
