They are clearly understaffed because there was no housekeeping while we were there and trash cans were overflowing in common areas. There was no hand soap in either of our two rooms and a request for linens never materialized.

Hotel is beautiful and clean. We booked a spacious corner room with 2 queen beds for 2 adults, a teenager & pre-teen. We requested a roll away bed as well. Upon arriving we were told the room we booked was not available and that they would put us in a regular room with a king bed and pull out sofa bed. The concierge said that since we booked through a third party site our room was not guaranteed and that often these sites book rooms they don’t even have. With no options we took the room (we had just driven 9 hours) and requested the roll away bed. They said they hoped one was available, thankfully it was. We spent 2 nights in a small room with our daughters bed in front of the door to the room as there was no place else to put it. Cramped doesn't even describe it.
Additionally, there was never anyone at the front desk, you had to just stand there and wait for them to come out from the back area. We experienced this when needed sheets and pillows for the pull out sofa and additional towels since the room was only stocked for 3 people as well as when we checked out.
With regards to amenities we didn’t use them but noticed that their on site restaurant is only open Monday through Friday, looks like the bar portion was open though.
No cookies, seems silly but Doubletree is known for this and we have always been excitedly provided them by the concierge when staying at other Doubletree locations. I don’t care about the cookies I think this just speaks to this locations vibe.

Hotel was very nice. Has a restaurant on property and the rooms were good size. Beds were very comfortable. Only negative is the lack of decent size elevators. 2 tiny elevators that took forever with a big group there. Overall, a great stay!

I was under the impression that I booked a smoking room. Which it stated in the booking site. Once we got to the hotel, we smoked and got kicked out because the hotel doesn’t have smoking rooms. Very unfortunate.

It was -4 degrees out and I arrived early to the hotel. I sat in my car and called the front desk. NO ANSWER. I placed another call. No answer. I called Hilton honors as I am a member. They connected me. I was told to come to the front desk. I proceeded with my two bags through an unshoveled sidewalk. Got to the side door - Locked for security purposes. 15 mph winds in sub zero temps, and a sign that tells me to call the front desk. NO ANSWER. Sorry Hilton, as far as I am concerned, I won't be staying in your hotels. Also my room was not very nice. Marks on the bathroom floor, smelled of some overpowering scent. The bartender was really nice though.

Very expensive room that felt like it had been neglected for a while. Sofa was not clean, bed linens with visible oil stain. Winter booking and no hair dryer in room

The personal gym was nice, but that level of amenity needs to be across the board and it was just lacking.

The hotel renovation are great. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was clean and had all the amenities needed.
The staff were very friendly and of course we received our chocolate cookies.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Utica. The bonus is that the hotel is walking distance to Utica Coffee, amazing coffee.

Room was fine except the heat did not work. Did not spend much time in the room before going to sleep and woke up to 65°, adjusted thermostat from 70° to 72° and it didn’t kick on.

Another room I was in had a broken TV, another stated they did not have a refrigerator.

Very disappointed with check in. Arrived at 2:15 which admittedly is bit early for their 3:00 policy. We were told rooms were being cleaned and that was okay. However, it was 2 hours before we finally got our room. Apparently a hockey team were allowed to stay in their rooms until 3:00. This is not acceptable when they have new guests expecting a room be ready. Totally blame this on the management of this hotel. We rarely give bad reviews, but in this case feel it was justified.

We were very happy with the upgrades of the hotel and the rooms since the last time we stayed there 11 years ago. Everything was clean, comfortable and well maintained. It was nice to stay in a place with some character and history too. The best thing about the stay was the staff. Virtually everyone, from the front desk, maids, bartender at the restaurant, and even the maintenance guy we met in the elevator was genuinely nice and accommodating to us. The only suggestion I have is an upgrade of the tp.

Beautiful Hotel but short staffed

This is a gorgeous old building. The hotel itself is great. It seemed like they were very short staffed, especially in the restaurant where one person was both cooking and waiting tables. Also there is no free wifi, even for guests.

A fellow at a nearby bar told us that The Doubletree used to be the Hotel Utica and was one of the first hotels in the city. It has great original architecture and features! They’ve definitely done a great job of keeping the original feel with modern amenities. I will definitely stay here again.

Disappointing

Only way to describe our stay was disappointing. We stayed 3 nights and we were out of the room all day. We requested housekeeping both days, once from the front desk. That didn’t happen and since that didn’t work we requested cleaning directly from a housekeeper the next. Nothing.
After a long day all you want to do is take a nice shower and go to sleep in a made bed. I had to go to the front desk and request clean towels.
If you are planning to stay here I would recommend a to revise your plan and stay somewhere else.

My check in with the overnight staff at the front desk was smooth and welcoming. My room was clean, my floor was quiet. I had a slight issue with the wifi but it wasnt a problem. I have a hard time sleeping so about 9:30am one of the housekeeping staff I assumed opened my door & scared me out of my sleep which was strange because check out isnt until 11am. The front desk agent matt was very attentive to my issue so I will be giving this hotel another chance.

Love this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times. Never any issues. I will say the elevator could use some updating. Very small and a little warn out. Rooms are great. Always a view of the city and beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. Air conditioner works great. The shower is amazing-hot and lots of water pressure.

Horrible customer service

Called to change my check in day more than a week prior to arriving. Was told that I was all set. Called two days before arrival to confirm this again, again told I was all set. Receive a check in email that morning after getting off the place

Upon arrival to the hotel they tell me my room is not available ( there with an entire team for hockey tournament) was unable to stay the first night and had to walk to another hotel with my 7 year old and all of our luggage

Did not offer any sort of compensation just an ‘upgraded’ room that they tried to charge me additional for as well

Worst hotel experience.

Hotel room was not cleaned properly- hair on pillows and under the sheets and on the bathroom floors . The two complimentary water bottles in the room had both been opened and partially emptied but still placed next to clean glasses to be used. The internet was not working for most of the stay. When I went downstairs for coffee around 6:45 am, there was a redolent homeless gentleman raiding the breakfast items and getting coffee as quickly as possible and then leaving after having stuffing everything in his giant backpack with a cardboard “homeless” sign also sticking out the back of it. (Honestly, I’m all for feeding those in need but it made me like the premises were not even close to secure— there was not a staff member in sight to witness this happening in the main lobby).
As for the front desk, it was a) not staffed with anyone or b) staffed with someone who basically couldn’t be bothered to deal with the guests. I asked him about any recommended restaurants within walking distance and he curtly told me to google some options. Not expecting concierge service but a minimal, cordial conversation didn’t seem unreasonable, especially as google directed me to a closed pizzeria on a dark street nearby.
The lobby was nice though. A beautiful staircase. It’s clearly located in an historic building which has a lovely exterior. And it’s within walking distance to a nice cafe called Knead to Eat. It’s also very close to the Nexus Center which was very convenient.

Everything was amazing with the exception of the hotel resturant breakfast. 45 mins to receive our food while only one waitress worked serving 6 tables. I would have nothing but sympathy for understaffing if I had received the actual meal I ordered. Loaded home fries, which should have been home fries with sausage, cheese, peppers, onions with a side of sour cream… were really French fries with cheddar bacon and a sprinkle of parsley
I would have asked for a correction if I had an additional 45 mins to wait. If the menu item was unavailable they should have said something beforehand.
