Hotel Gerl far surpassed my expectations and my family’s. The staff, food, amenities, rooms and food was all perfect! My kids are asking when we are coming back and I know it’s going to be soon thanks to how great they treated us.

A good hotel if you are happy to commute.

A great stay. Lovely spacious room and food delicious. However chewing gum stuck to top of bed and a used robe in the room. Asked hotel staff twice about buses before a third time when I was offered a free guest pass for use on buses. This should be automatically given on arrival.
Hotels.com did not allow booking of a child and I did not realise they count children as adults so faced another 90 Euro per night charge.

Staff was friendly, rooms were nice and clean. Great breakfast and the amenities were a nice perk. We found some cute restaurants around the area and you can't beat the view. Our only complaint was the bathroom sink was kind of annoying as it seemed more for appearance than function (there was little room for the water to actually go).

Adequate words fail me to describe my delightful experience at the Gerl. By far, the best hotel experience I’ve ever had in Salzburg.

I selected the two-room suite for our family; and the king-bed rooms were spacious.

Don’t shy away from dining at the Gerl. The breakfast spread was delectable . This world traveler found their Thai Red Curry the best ever. Yes, you read that correctly. The best ever red curry in Salzburg, Austria.

There is a laundry room an available for guests.

The Gerl will be my home away from home on my next visit to Salzburg.

Gerl Hotel is a place not only to sleep while travelling but to spend time in the hotel as well. It has a great resturant and the breakfast was very tasty with a wide variety of dishes.
Shame the main spa (which is spectacular) opens only at 11:00 and closes at 20:00.

Review based on 300e nightly rate.
-for such a spa hotel did not have free flip flops ready in my room, needed to go to lobby to buy them.
-Was not able to bring a beer to spa area as they close the spa area bars for winter period, this would be different during the summer I guess. Also other Sauna was closed.
-Good was that it was very quiet during the winter period and probably would have felt the place too busy during summer.

-They don't have jacuzzi or anything like that, regular pools. It is a nice hotel and the restaurant they have is good.

Really nice pool/spa areas and a choice of pools for adults! One minor gripe the sauna on ground floor not really/hot working on either day.

Had dinner in the restaurant also which was great, as was breakfast.

A modern and beautifully decorated hotel. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The restaurant provided a large range of options for breakfast and we enjoyed two dinners there as well. The dinner menu was competitively priced and the meal portions were substantial. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel is on the outskirts of the city centre which was our preference as we were visiting areas away from the city. We think this added to the quiet atmosphere. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

This hotel has the smallest and most inconvenient room layout of all the 4 star hotels we had stayed in. We had a room with a bathtub and it was impossible to shower in it without getting injuried because it was so narrow and small even for a kid. The vanity sink was also narrow and didn't offer much of a space either. The hotel was full of flies. We noticed the flies were busy eating breakfast when we arrived for breakfast every single day.

Very hip, upscale property-out in the country! About 15-20 minutes from downtown Salzburg. Plenty of free parking. We checked in early and they placed our luggage adjacent to the front desk-we didn’t feel like it was secure so took out some of our electronics to keep with us. Not happy with that. The beds were very comfortable, but the toilet and shower are in the middle of the room, built behind frosted glass so very little privacy. The breakfast was a beautiful buffet of meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, veggies and cereals. We enjoyed our stay here, despite the disappointing check in!

i loved everything about it, the staff, food, interior, location, expect cleanance there was too much spiders like they never clean the room at all ,the kitchen & fridge also was to much dirty and dead insects inside , i asked them to deep clean once i arrived and the reception was very nice they sent the housekeeping to clean it again but unfortunately nothing changed they clean randomly and just arranging without deep cleaning

Very nice design of the hotel inside and outside . Inside its smell of wood and real leather. Very warm ,good insulated hotel. Big indoor pool and nice sauna with showers and swings chairs. Room is spacious, everything is there for you to use. They recycle stuff which is good to know. Breakfast was great. Yammy. Very polite staff. Inly one TV channel in English CNN. Could have more channels??

This is a lovely hotel 30 minutes from Salzburg centre. It’s has a lot of character and good facilities. Staff are very nice and friendly. Breakfast is good but can definitely improve with regards to hot food on offer. The bed was really comfortable and room was pretty quiet. The only downside was the size of the room. It felt very boxy and was difficult at times to move around.
The restaurant offers nice variety of food and what I had was very tasty. It doesn’t operate all week which is not great as there aren’t many restaurants near the hotel, limiting the choices of guests to Salzburg centre which is 30 minutes drive away.
Overall though, I enjoyed staying at the hotel and would definitely go back, making sure I stay in a larger room.

Beautiful hotel BUT hot and mosquitoes!

Room was too hot in mid-September. Opened the windows one night and there are no screens. Got a lot of mosquito bites! (Used the fan in the room also.) The sauna and indoor pool are magnificent. Very modern and nice.

Our two-bedroom apartment was very spacious, but our double room was less so. The hotel is quite close to the highway and airport, though less convent for visiting the old town.

We use the Gerl when we travel as it is so close to the airport and they offer a parking and transfer service but we come to love it n its oen right for its friendliness, cosiness and the feeling of wellbeing nd calm that the staff manage to deliver in a very understated way. Also love the modern yet organic scandi style if the hotel and how old and new have been merged. Also great spa facilities and pool! Great every time, thank you Gerl team!

Each room was to have a fan due to lack of air conditioning. We had to ask for a fan on the second day. The cleaning staff through out our four plastic collapsible stem wine glasses. We were reimbursed for the loss at check out. The computer system at check out crashed.
Over all the property is beautiful.

Lovely boutique-style hotel. We had a huge room which was beautifully decorated and had a balcony with a great view of countryside and mountains. Breakfast was great and we also had a nice meal in the restaurant one night.

Public transport into the city is limited, but we had a car with us.

Great hotel in a peaceful town just a short drive to Salzburg. The decor was very tasteful with a very relaxing and beautiful pool area. We made use of the sauna and indoor and outdoor pools as well as the food and beverage service on the outdoor patio. Our suite was extremely comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Overall we had an amazing stay at the Hotel Gerl and would definitely stay again when in the area.

The hotel is very nice. The particular room we got was a bit strange, with the toilet in a small cupboard and the sink and shower in another, but our friends got a good one and the standard on both rooms was good. Both the receptionists we met were serviceminded and welcoming, but the staff in the restaurant and the bar were awful. Always made you feel like they did not want you there and that you were just a pain in their necks. So concluding, the overall experience was not worth the money.

My friend and I stayed here one night because it's close to the airport and we had an early morning flight. Location wise, it's a good place to stay. The staff at the hotel was nice as well! The room we stayed in was not exactly preferable. You can't control the AC and they had it turned off- so it was very humid and we were hot all night. if you open the windows, bugs will come in, so there should have been some type of AC control to avoid having to choose between being hot and uncomfortable or swarmed by bugs all night. The room was just ok- pretty old but could have been much worse. We found a lot of hair and stuff on our bed too so we questioned how clean it was, but overall I don't want to say that it was a bad experience. Just definitely not the best!

One night stay. Close enough to Salzburg to use a taxi.
Good facilities in the hotel.

Room was quite small and had the weather been hotter, there was no aircon and would have been too hot.

Wine in the bar was quite expensve.

Just one word - WOW! This hotel is real gem among everything else in Salzburg and I congratulate the owner and staff for it. We as a family of 4 stayed in Comfort room and was genuinely very comfortable. Our stay at Gerl was highlight of holiday in Austria. Very spacious garden with swimming pool, chess board, swings for kids so lot many ways to get fun and relax. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and even suggested us walking trail around hotel to explore the natural surrounding. Room interior was so pleasing, breakfast had huge choices. Being vegetarian, we found dinner menu quite limited though but restaurant staff worked out some choices for us, we had margaretta pizza in dinner and it was delicious. The public transport is within easy reach (5 min walk) but frequency of buses is rather limited, so something to consider but again it is out of control by hotel. Overall, we had great time staying at Gerl and recommend them without hesitation.

Hotel Gerl was absolutely amazing! We had the family room since there were 4 adults and one child in our group! The room had air conditioning and wifi! Plus free breakfast which was fully stocked and one of the best breakfast spreads we have had at a hotel. Lots of great parking and super friendly staff! A indoor and outdoor pool, small playground and outdoor chess board, all in great clean condition! We will stay at this hotel again if we make it back to Austria! ALSO the spa is amazing and the massage was perfect!!!!!

Hotel Gerl was a fabulous choice for us to stay in Salzburg. It is only 2.5 km from the airport and not much farther into the ci y. The hotel is a few minute's walk from a bus stop that brings you directly into Mirabellplatz. The continental breakfast was the most delicious and varied spread we had seen. The facilities were clean and crisp and the service was so helpful and accommodating.

Super Bad Design of the room!

The worst experience I ever had. I booked 2 bedrooms for 5 people (2 family) but end up they gave us 1 bedroom and the living room with 3 beds, thats what they called 2 bedrooms. The worst part was the bathroom, it made by Glassess with gap and you cant put any towel or clothes inside the bathroom as it is very tiny and the shower will get everywhere wet. that means you have come out the bath room to get towel and clothes. But the bathroom was in the middle of the living room. How could we take the shower? But the manager Mr. Gerl told me it doesnt have any problem for european people. I dont wanna argue with him but I am sure nobody (adults) wants to get NAKE inform their Parents or their Parents got Nake in front of their grown children. Thats the worst of the worst!

From entering into the reception the staff makes you feel welcome and appreciated. All staff members greet you when passing them in the lobby, corridor, or elsewhere. My room was big, and had direct access to the terrace; and the upkeep and cleanliness was perfect. The pool and spa area is an attraction in itself; and it has as well an indoor as an outdoor pool. The gym is well-equipped also, and the atmosphere is nice. This is definitely my go-to place when I am visiting customers in the Salzburg area. It would be nice if the gym would open a little earlier - 8am is too late. But fortunately the weather was ok for running - there is a nice trail along the Saalach river.

Der Hotenaufenthalt war super schön. Sowohl der schöne gepflegte Spa-Bereich, das sehr gute Essen als auch das Personal war rundum perfekt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der wunderschöne Infinity-Pool und die Panorama Sauna.
Einziges kleines Manko ist die Hauptstraße an der das Hotel gelegen ist (bei geschlossenem Fenster jedoch nicht zu hören).

Sehr sehr schönes Hotel mit gemütlichen Garten

Also die Poolanlage im Garten ist sehr gemütlich die Wassertemparatur eine perfekte Abkühlung. Die Beachbar ist sehr cool aber auch etwas überfüllt. Das Restaraunt ist sehr sehr lecker mit viel Auswahl an Essen, das einzige was man vielleicht ändern das man im Gastgarten ein par kleinere Tische für 2-3 Personen zur Verfügung hat ansonsten \"TOP\".
