To start, I’ll first mention the breakfast. It was like a dream really. The variety. The quality. The presentation. The service. The staff were super friendly from checking in, through the breakfast staff, and a quick check out so we could get back on the road. The size of our room was a real relief. The kids loved it. The black out shades were helpful as well. This place is a bit away from the center of the tourist area, which is normally where I’d stay, but if I go back to Salzburg, I’ll stay here again. Being able to get in and out of town with a car so easy is very helpful. And to get into the tourist area, there is a bus right outside for free. There is parking downtown, but the bus is free and easy. As I said, I’ll stay here again in the future.

Very nice hotel that will offer a mobility pass with night stay. Breakfast was delicious and definitely worth the 22 euros. If you go downtown you will be paying at least this amount and quality of food might be lower. Do the breakfast addition. Bus very easy to center area of Salzburg and run often.

While hotels are rather expensive in Salzburg, this can accommodate 5 adults at a more affordable price. Love the setup that one room has a double/king size bed and the other room has 3 twins. Super close to bus stops that take you to and from the airport, train station and the old town and fortress area. Since tourists have free mobility passes, which are included in the hotel taxes and fees, we didn’t spend a dime on transportation for the entire 3 days in Salzburg.

Great stay.

Traveling with two teenage sons. The room was large and gave us all privacy.

Very lovely and helpful staff, offering us maps and information on public transport to get into the centre of Salzburg. We were always greeted with a smile! Our ‘superior double’ was just 2 single beds pushed together however they were clean and comfortable. There was very little around the property and no option of food or snacks available in the evening. Breakfast was tasty however not told the price beforehand and ended up having to pay €44 for two people. It was all homemade or organic which was a nice touch but would not of had breakfast there if aware of the price.

Choose your room carefully...

The Das Grüne Hotel is on a very busy road with traffic noise extending into the late and early hours. We originally booked a street side hotel room. With no eco-unfriendly room A/C and windows needing to be opened on warm summer nights, we much regretted it. Thankfully, our hosts moved us into a quiet guest house at the rear after two nights.

+ Breakfasts are superb at this hotel.
+ Convenient bus stops for the City centre and airport
- Das Grüne Hotel does not have full spa facilities, just a small sauna which was out of order throughout our stay.

The most expensive hotel during my trip we stayed 2 nights. Beautiful hotel. We had 5 bed family room. Very spacious and clean. Bus station is right outside the hotel. City center is only 10 minutes away. Highly recommend.

It’s a charming boutique hotel. The rooms, toilets, linen and common areas are very elegant and squeaky clean. The reception staff are warm, very helpful. The bus stop is just outside the hotel which makes it very convenient.

This hotel is in a residential area outside of the city. It is walkable, but using the near by buses is probably more convenient. The room is basic, but had everything we needed. There's also free parking. My only complaint is that its on a fairly busy road and the building is not sound proof. I had to sleep with ear plugs even with the windows closed.

We had a family suite and the only awkward part was that the bathroom/shower door was a frosted glass barn door right next to two of the beds, so it did not feel very private. (That said, you could not see anything through the door - just shadows. It is just that it wasn't lockable and felt exposed.)

A cheap alternative near Salzburg

Our stay at Das Grüne Hotel zur Post 100% Bio was quite pleasant. The rooms are highly spacious and comfortable enough, albeit a bit outdated. The staff at check-in were nice however there was confusion with final payment, which required multiple emails back and forth... In terms of location, it’s a little ways out of the city centre, but a bus stop is practically on the door step (buses were pretty reliable), so no hassle, however we tended to walk (approx. 25mins). We didn’t include breakfast for our stay (approx. €18/person), because we were on a budget, but there isn’t too many options around early in the morning so it may be worth forking out the extra money. Overall, it was solid accommodation and would be a useful option for anyone wanting to visit Salzburg on a budget!

Comfy beds in a clean and spacious 2-bedroom unit. It’s not terribly close to old town, but the bus stop is right in front of the hotel and old town is just 5 stops away. We took a taxi one night because it rained and it was only €10 from the fortress. The staff were very friendly as well. Would definitely stay again.

Pleasant family hotel.

We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. He helped us plan the next couple of days activities, very useful. The suite was nice, plenty of space for 4 of us between the two bedrooms. Our room was away from the main road so very peaceful. Breakfast was good. The whole place was welcoming and well looked after, although one or two of the furnishings had seen their best days. r

This is one of the worst hotels I ever visited.
The rooms were dirty (we had 2 rooms), the towels were grey so you couldn't see if they were dirty or not, but they were smelly as if someone already used them. In the morning we deliberately placed the towels on the bathroom floor so that room service would replace them. You think they did? We were shocked to find that the room service didn't do so, but instead just placed them back on the hanger. The rooms were small and had no ACs. The lobby was very small and there was no place to sit and chill.

I am never going to this hotel again and I don't recommend anyone to stay there either.

Avoid in summer since very stuffy with no air conditioning, don’t get stuck in the ugly annex over a shop next door, and don’t count on a warm reception or any help getting luggage up all the stairs!

Our room was a huge 2 bedroom easily sleeping our family of 4. Bathroom was also huge. Did not eat the breakfast which appeared to be overpriced at 15 Euro.

The facilities for our stay were outstanding, however the road in front of the property is extremely busy, even after 12am. With the lack of air-conditioning across Europe and windows needing to remain open overnight, the amount of traffic noise destroyed the entire experience and I would not recommend during summer.
I would assume in the winter with the windows being closed, this would be a fine experience.

I chose this hotel because I needed parking, a breakfast option, wifi and proximity to central/historic Salzburg. The hotel is small, but nice. Friendly staff. A few complaints though, the breakfast buffet was expensive, €15/adults, €9 children. The front desk told me €10/€6. There were kids stomping upstairs in the morning, sound insulation is not good. Finally, there was no shampoo, conditioner, or small wash cloths. Probably would choose another hotel the next time I'm in the area.

Outside of the old town but convenient to access by bus. Heater via radiator did not work in the room but temperature was manageable while we were there without it overnight. No elevator but 2 flights of stairs at most.

Stayed in apartment at the hotel. Clean and well furnished with facilities to cook and eat. Beds were comfortable, including a large sofa bed. Shower facilities. Near to shops for food shopping. Bus stop directly outside the apartment, just 10 minutes to the old town and the main sights, and 25 minutes to the rail station. Excellent place to stay if purchasing the Salzburg card which includes free public transport and a visit to the nearby Steigl brewery. Apartment had fans to cool things down when the weather gets hot.

Hotel is very spacious (two bedroom apartment), clean and close to bus stop( bus runs to central train station frequently). Check in/checkout was a breeze. Staff was helpful to give tips to tourist sites. Breakfast was expensive at 15 euros per person (even kids older than 12).

Great quiet hotel

The 2 desk people we dealt with were very nice and helpful. The room had 2 bedrooms with separate twin size beds for our teens. The shower drained a little slow, but the breakfast more than made up for that. It was my husband's favorite hotel breakfast on this trip. Many choices... Most organic if that matters to you. Quiet area outside of the old town, but a very easy tram ride to the main events and to the main train station. I would definitely stay there again.

We had a very decent sized quad room which was quite modern and comfortably furnished. The bathroom needs an upgrade and the toilet was a bit smelly if you didn't keep the lid down while not in use. All in all we were quite happy with the room. The breakfast room is far too small (caters for 3 hotels/buildings) and we needed to wait for 15 minutes for a table. The buffet was also not fully replenished. We would have gone elsewhere if we had not prepaid for breakfast.

The location of the hotel is a bit outside of central Salzburg. However there is a bus stop right outside the hotel door that will take you into central Salzburg. The room itself was very clean, large, and nice. The staff was indifferent, we tried to have them help us make a local phone call to some friends who live in Salzburg and none of the staff could help. This might be due to the owner being out of town, but office staff during our stay seemed inexperienced. Beakfast was standard. Room was great.

OK hotel - nothing fancy

We were also put up in the adjacent building next to the main hotel. The sign says \"zimmer\" which is more appropriate than \"hotel\" really - we got a large room (with a huge bathroom, but still just a shower and not a bath) clean and private. However the room is part of an old apartment building, where an outside door leads to 2 indoor \"hotel\" rooms each with another separate \"external\" door. The TV was a flat screen bad with pretty bad reception and the hotel's location means either a ~35 minute walk downtown or a ~35 minute bus trip (with waiting) which saves you the walk but isn't cheap. We got a pick into the adjacent \"room\" inside our original split-up apartment when checking in (before it was occupied) and it was much smaller, with an old tiny CRT TV and a smaller bed. All in all our stay was nice and we got what we paid for, but you can't expect much and personally if we had gotten the other room we would probably be furious.

Hotel located in a residential area about 1.5 Km to city center sites. Nice rooms, good breakfast and very friendly & helpful staff. Easy to find and good/easy/convenient parking. I recommend this hotel. The hotel has two buildings separated by a driveway. Note: if you require a non-smoking room remember to ask for one. Enjoy.
