Very quiet room at back. Breakfast pastry and hot drink so don’t stay expecting a full hot breakfast. Reception closes at 2000 so you will be given a key for the back which works very well. There is parking too which could be useful although Salzburg is very walkable.

Gorgeous building in perfect location! Only one block from the water, 3 min walk to Schloss Mirabell and 15 min or so walk from the main station. Salzburg is incredibly walkable and Villa Carlton is perfectly situated, removed from the main touristy area. Smooth check-in, very friendly and welcoming staff, clean and very spacious room with everything you might need. Loved our stay and will stay there again next time we are in Salzburg. Thank you!

The premier room did not have a bath - there was an IT failure so no other room could be allocated. Three lights were out in the bathroom and only one was replaced. Someone broke a glass in the room and we counted 8 shards of glass. Breakfast was scant - rolls and jam. The coffee was terrible, but that seems to be the case all over Salzburg (an opportunity for a good coffee shop perhaps). The decor was weird - not fascinating, rather off putting rather than zany. The road noise was dreadful all through the night meaning one could not open a window - earplugs are a must. It is not even a main road but there is a junction on the corner.

How does Villa Carlton get the rating it has? Our room did not have adequate heating as one old radiator did not work at all, and the other radiator barely worked. There was no coffee maker in the room. There was no refrigerator in the room. The noise level is high as the Villa Carlton is located on a busy street. The neighborhood is unsafe. The hotel locks it front entry at 8:00pm and guests must use a side entry. The first floor rooms have bars across all the windows. The breakfast is exaggerated as there is coffe, juice and day old pastries. The manager does not care as guests have already paid for their stay.
In 4 years of traveling in Europe the Villa Carlton is the most overrated hotel we have ever stayed at. The ratings need to be current as the neighborhood is unsafe.

Nice Property, waljing distance to majority of all sites. Staff provided excellent service. The breakfast just a roll , jam and coffee. Unfortunately it doesn’t open till 7:30am. It would be nice if they would provide hot water and coffee 24hrs. The reason I gave an average rating is because the housekeeper put our dirty towels on the bed and didn't provide new towels amd put a half of roll of toliet paper on the holder. Worsy housekeeping in all my travels.

After a long day of travel, my mum arrived to find no parking available, and the receptionist made no effort to help or suggest alternatives. She was completely left to fend for herself in an unfamiliar city.
After searching unsuccessfully for street parking, she asked to park in the hotel’s delivery area just overnight. The receptionist responded with an eye-roll and unwelcoming attitude, and told her to be gone by 7 AM. When my mum asked if she could leave her keys so someone could move the car while she had breakfast (as is common in 4-5 hotels), the answer was just “no.”
The hotel building itself is nice but if you’re expecting service to match the stars, you’ll be disappointed.

Oh my! The Villa Carlton was the best hotel! A quaint and fabulously decorated small hotel. The room and bathroom are very nice. Excellent bedding and towels. They offer a continental breakfast of fresh bread with coffee and tea. My husband is Gluten free and they made the effort to get him some GF bread. A short walk from the train station and a block from Mirabell Gardens. This hotel is a must.

Rooms are clean, modern, ample hot water, supplied shampoo, shower gel, and lotion (no conditioner). Please do pay attention to details when booking so as to not misunderstand policies-- desk is not attended 24 hours so that may limit your check-in options, but was not problem for us.

Lovely looking building in a great location. Not far to walk to reach the river and then you have a lovely walk along the river to the old town. We went in December, it had recently snowed and so the river and all the buildings looked fabulous at night all twinkling with lights. Our room - room 4 was great, very spacious. The receptionist when we arrived was amazing so friendly and accommodating. Downside was not being able to make or have tea / coffee in the room. Also Expedia says 'free bottled water' but it turns out you only get one on arrival and then are expected to pay that was not clearly stated so be careful. Another receptionist was very helpful in booking our concern tickets and explaining how to get there. I would stay again.
