The location was very central to the Alstadt. The room was very clean. However, it was smaller and felt less refined than some of the other hotels we stayed in well visiting Austria and Germany. One of the reasons why we booked this hotel was the claim that it was the oldest hotel in Salzburg… But the property was very modern and I didn’t detect any historical features.

The hotel is in a good area. Very convenient and everywhere was within walking distance. The hotel was very thoughtful to hand out sweet treats during our stay because it's Christmas. The room itself was well designed and very cozy; however our room in particular had some defects: the bathroom door doesn't close and the coffee machine doesn't work well, but these things aren't major so we can overlook. I would recommend this hotel to friends who wish to visit Salzburg.

Front desk was so nice. I also always appreciate NH Collection hotels have candy/snacks and water when you enter. Room was as pictured online. We had a corner suite. Well situated to the Christmas markets and sites. Very easy to walk to everything. I would stay here again.

Overall a great experience staying here! I was only here for 3 nights but I loved everything about this hotel and my room. All the staff were friendly, the bar is a huge plus and the breakfast buffet is a nice touch. I liked how everything was within walking distance and plenty of food options nearby. I wish I could have stayed longer, definitely recoomend this hotel!

I honestly would have given this hotel a strong 4-star rating due to several excellent features: the room itself was well-appointed, the location is fantastic, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The inclusion of a Nespresso machine in the room was also a welcome touch.

However, I must note the primary and overriding issue: a very strange and highly unpleasant odor permeating the area. This smell strongly resembled a sewage or drainage issue (canalization) and unfortunately significantly impacted the quality of the stay.

Parking for hybrid vehicles was not available at the hotel. However, there was a large paid parking lot within a 5-minute walk, so it wasn’t much of an inconvenience, and the staff were the kindest people I met during my trip in Austria.

We booked a superior room for two separate nights and found both times the rooms to be rather tiny I would say. It's hard to know exactly what you're getting when booking as there are many different room pictures for this specific room type. That being said, as it was only a night at a time it was okay for the time spent in it. Both times the bathroom was good and the room felt clean. We were able to leave our bags before check in opened which was really handy. The location of the hotel is great as it was round the corner from the bus stop to the airport and only a 10/15 minute walk to the old town with plenty of restaurants and shops on the way. The staff were nice and friendly but it was a shame that the restaurant wasn't open when we wanted to eat there on Saturday night.

Overall, a good enough stay in a nice location but would have liked the room to be larger for the amount you're paying and description of the room.

First of all - full real air conditioning. Too often in Europe there is either no AC or there is some sort of “economical” one. With 32C/close to 100F outside you really need one.

Great breakfast with gluten free options. If you refuse room cleaning you get drink coupons for the bar. The hotel is 100 feet from pedestrian street with tons of shopping and dining options.

Nice Stay, but Family Room Setup Could Be Better

We stayed in a family room at NH Salzburg for $450 per night. When we opened the sofa bed to get it ready, there were no linens, no pillowcases, and the comforter was bare. We had to call to ask for fresh linens and an extra towel. If they had at least covered the pillow with a case, I wouldn’t have noticed the stains on it (see attached).

It was frustrating because it’s a family room, yet there were only two towels and breakfast for two people. We had already informed them we’d have an extra person and were willing to pay, but it didn’t seem to be reflected in their system. Because of this, we were even stopped at the breakfast area.

I don’t mean to sound picky, but having to ask for so many basic things made me feel like a difficult guest, which I don’t like. Guests can be demanding, but I don’t want to feel like I’m the “diva” asking for so many things.

Otherwise, the room itself was comfortable, and the location was fine. Overall, I’d give this hotel 3-4 stars, but I hope they can improve on preparing family rooms more thoughtfully in the future, especially considering the price.

We were pleased with our stay, the location was great, walking distance from everywhere & but quiet & slept great. The room was on the 3rd floor with not a great view but we were hardly in the room so it didn’t matter. The beds were VERY comfortable & the a/c was a blessing. We thought the coupon for drinks in the bar if we didn’t want our room serviced was a brilliant idea. We usually don’t need ours cleaned & had 8 coupons which worked well for us. All the staff were courteous, professional & helpful. The only real negative was the cost of the breakfast which we found expensive so we ate elsewhere very morning.

LOCATION:
Location has always been the draw - quiet enough to rest and sleep but close enough to explore the city on foot.

ROOMS:
Starting to show signs of age on our recent stay. Curtains falling off, safe didn’t work the whole time there, poor water pressure in the showers, towels small and poor quality.

STAFF:
Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Interacted really well with small child we travelled with and was accepting of the noise and chaos they create.
Reception staff could be better in welcoming guests to the hotel and more willing to help when requests are made.

BREAKFAST
Good choice of food at breakfast of good quality but often ran out of hot food with a long wait for food items to be replenished at times.

Overall a good stay had but with comparison to stay a few years back the concern going forwards is that the quality provided will drop.

Enjoyed our stay at NH. The breakfast was excellent -- so many options! The room was clean and the staff was responsive, professional and friendly. Online check-in and check-out is hassle-free. It was within walking distance of the train station and attractions. My only suggestion would be softer bed sheets. While I slept well and the bed was comfortable, the sheets did feel a little rougher/scratchier than I prefer. We will stay here again the next time we are in Salzburg!

Have stayed in a few NH collection properties and they always exceed my expectations. Staff were wonderfully hospitable, friendly and polite. Hotel is within walking distance to the town area and the walk is a scenic route passing through the lovely walking bridge. Only issue with the hotel is the tight parking and entrance…. It’s pretty difficult to drive in.

Just beer or soda. Were told this after 6 drinks. Told bar was open til midnight every day. Not true. Came back to hotel for a drink and bar was closed at 7pm. Not a big issue, but just tell guests what the deal is. Staff was awesome! Very noisy hotel in am. Cant sleep much past 730am.

The room did not match what I expected based on the description and was quite small for a supposedly ‘superior’ room. There was nowhere convenient to put the luggage and the room was quite dark. Also the bathroom had a sliding door which was odd and the shower tray was poorly designed. The only positives of the hotel for me were that the room had a window that I could open to get fresh air, the location of the hotel was great and the breakfast was pretty good. I also liked the gym.

Great location! Lots of shopping and restaurants neaby. The hotel bar has great drinks and atmosphere. If your too lazy to leave, they also have great quick bites.

The rooms are very clean and offer excellent amenities.

The biggest 5 star rating about this hotel is the staff. They are fantastic. Very helpful and really nice to talk to. We changed our reservation to leave Vienna quicker than anticipated and are so thankful we did. To be honest, I thought I was going to go home disliking Austria because of the attitudes we faced in Vienna. Super grumpy unpleasant people no matter how friendly you are to them. We get along with anyone but my patience was tested in Vienna. Salzburg and the staff here turned it all around and we will happily come back to Salzburg. You will not go wrong with the NH hotels.

The only downside, that may not be a downside for some, the beds are really hard in all NH hotels. We dont like them but the rest of the hotel is why we come back. Perhaps a pillow top menu would be a great option to provide?

Clean and comfortable hotel less than 10 minutes away from Old Town. Lots of restaurants and cafes on surrounding streets! Great location, great fitness facility that provides free still water bottles. We were disappointed as a “pool” is listed on the amenities and a picture of a sauna was included as well, however these are NOT available. We intended on doing some laundry here as well, however it was pricey and we opted not to. Overall a great stay.

Ecellent hotel. Warm and inviting. Staff are attentive and extremely helpful if you have a question or would like an opinion for things to see and do. We were always really looked after and did not want for anything.

Rooms have all the modern amenities and are comfortable and very clean. The bed is hard (too hard for us for too long of a stay) but maybe for most just fine.

Great location to everything. Very quiet area and an 8 minute walk to the old center.

Definitely would stay here again. Thanks to the staff here for making our stay so nice!

Mold in shower and stains in pillow so need to work on cleaningness. Could use more lights in the room. Have to slam the door to shut it closed. Upon checked in no hand soap and safe wasn't working. Hotel resolved both issues immediately. Great location.

Average is being generous. The WiFi didn’t work our entire trip. One of the elevators was down the whole time, as well, leaving the entire building with one working lift. The lights beside the bed did not work and the A/C kept turning itself off and resetting. The best part of the stay was the expensive breakfast. The cleaning crew smelled of so much body spray and perfume that it was nauseating. I would not choose this property again. It appears to need multiple upgrades.

This hotel is one of the more affordable options in Salzburg for a reason. While the listing photos showcase a modern and fashionable facility, it does not meet the same standard for other hotels in its class or price category.
This aside, the hotel is located in an area that is within easy walking distance to Salzburg's major attractions and the company has worked out a preferred rate for the nearby (offisite) parking garage which makes sightseeing fairly effortless.
However, time spent at the hotel was not ideal. To begin, the check-in counter is located directly across from the bar which meant I had to endure drunks singing loudly as I tried to process my arrival. Next, the property is in very obvious disrepair. Dirty carpets, poorly installed furnishings, and flickering lights were noted throughout. The lack of care and attention towards these things had be worried about how often the rooms receive comprehensive cleaning.
However, the bedding appeared to be fresh and clean (despite it being of low quality) and the I was able to forget these eyesores after a good sleep.
The room featured a \"mini-bar\" which completely occupied the fridge leaving no room for my own food and beverages. While I realize the solution is to simply remove the mini-bar items and replace them with my own, it is an inconvenience that clearly hasn't been well thought out.
If travelling to Salzburg again, I may consider other options for my hotel stay.
