Worst Holiday Inn I’ve been to. The tub had all sorts of mold growing around the edges. The shower head was broken and barely hanging on. Went to the restaurant to order dessert but they closed all service for guests to accommodate a tour group’s private dinner, I couldn’t even get a bottled beer from the front desk staff even though the beer fridge always a few feet away. The thermostat doesn’t seem to work and it has no readings either. Then on our last night there the hot water went out in the whole building and still wasn’t working the next morning either!

Incompetent staff and sub par hotel

The staff were incompetent, 1. They assigned us a room that someone was already in, 2. The 2nd room smelled like stale cigarettes and the door didn’t open properly 3. The 3rd room, the blind was broken in the down position, this got us a 20% discount on the room 4. The staff apparently didn’t have the powers to split the bill payment 50/50 as they didn’t know how to do it and the manager was new and apparently didn’t have the power to do it.

I wish I could give this property ZERO stars! This is an absolute scam of a property!!! From the moment we checked in, we had nothing but the issues. The first room was in-operational down to the room safe. We were moved to a different room that had operational items but was HORRIBLE in cleanliness. We were too tired on the first night to notice that but when we woke-up, we noticed fluid stains on the beds and comforters we slept in. It is anyone's guess what those fluids were. There was mold on roof and the walls. We were assured in the morning that everything will be taken care of by the time we return from our daily activities and we will be moved to a cleaner and safer room. We came back that evening after dinner to find multiple guests fighting and yelling with the staff on the same issues. The staff at concierge were doing their best to manage the situation but were limited by the \"management\" in what they could do. The 'management' was no where to be seen. Long story short, the clerk at front desk promised us to give us a full refund (we have a hand written note from him) but the management refused and charged us for two nights (one we spent, and one we didn't). Expedia customer service couldn't help us either as the 'management' wouldn't honor their own hand written promise! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Salzburg - Holiday game changer

Salzburg is an amazing small city with lots to do. Definitely get a Salzburg card and all visitors get free public transport in SalzburgerLand for the duration of their stay. Weather permitting, go to the Untersberg and Zwölferhorn mountains (use the chairlift and funiculars). Boat trip from Sankt Gilgen to Sankt Wolfgang on the Wolfgangsee. Check out the Landestheater for reasonable priced tickets for plays etc. Great beer gardens - check Salzburg city website for lots of ideas.

Great hotel but beware of the garage parking

Very comfortable hotel, friendly helpful staff , excellent breakfast, good location near bus stop.
Parking was difficult. No outdoor spaces were free , so we had to pay extra for the priviledge of using the garage . The narrow exit and acute angle of the ramp made it very difficult to exit . If you have a slightky bigger than usual car ( we have a Mercedes ) i would advise against using the garage

Hotel was clean and close to transportation (Number 2 bus) that took you to main tourist area of Salzberg called Mirabell Schloss. Aldstadt was a short walk from Mirabell Schloss. Hotel was old and not completely updated. Temperature in the room was cold and you could tell that the rooms were old. However, it was clean and the staff was helpful. We did not try the food in the hotel and there are no other restaurants nearby that I noticed. So, if you want to be very near to the Aldstadt, this hotel is not for you, but probably a lot less expensive. Nevertheless, can get there easily by bus (and can also get to the Salzburg main train station to go other places).

We didn't receive a friendly welcome from the Staff lady, who said she didn't have any booking under our name. Another lady had to come and look for it until she found it. In February it's still winter, so the hotel has central heating and it's not possible to regulate the temperature in the room. Ours was extremely HOT. We had to open the windows and sleep with the noise from the street.
Rooms are not cleaned, unless you ask for it. Front Desk was always busy and the ladies who clean didn't do it even when we asked them personally.
The only fairly good about this hotel is the breakfast.

Note to wheelchair users, although we had an accessible room, the set up of the shower meant it was not usable for someone who can't stand up, nowhere to put the chair so you could retrieve it when finished. Otherwise all okay.

The day before we left they didn’t change the towels, practically except for arranging the bed and taking the garbage they didn’t do anything but otherwise it’s a good hotel and we had a pleasant stay

This property was a terrible representation of Holiday Inn. The rooms were incredibly hot with very poor air conditioning. Not as advertised. We changed rooms and the second one was not clean. The bathroom had hairs in it and mold in it that Had never been really scrub clean. The furniture was old and tired with lots of scratches shelving that came unhooked. We would never ever stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Hotel was great! It was a little bit far from the main area but definitely walkable about 20-30 min and it was a pleasant walk. Area felt safe. Hotel room itself wasn’t the most updated holiday inn I’ve been to but it was spacious and we had a balcony so that was really nice. Holiday inn Salzburg is just off city centre on a quiet stretch of road but not badly located as you can walk to most places or get the bus. There are local convenience shops & restaurants so overall the location is ok.

I requested a high floor when booked and was acknowledged by the hotel but did not get one. Instead got 1st floor which not only had a communal terrace/balcony but the view was terrible. The terrace could do with some cleaning & maintenance.

Outside the rooms is a large open corridor which echos but also the hotel has placed communal tables & chairs which attracts guest to sit outside the room & were noisy. The doors slam which is annoying as well, in general the hotel is noisy.

The rooms are clean & comfortable enough but they do not get serviced unless requested, this wasn't clear, by the time we realised it was too late. The air conditioning did not work or the bathroom extractor fan.

The main redemption is the buffet breakfast which is excellent since ours was included in our booking. Lots of choice & everything you need to fill you up for the start of the day. The staff are very good also, very polite & helpful.

One evening we ordered a Nockerl dessert from the restaurant, was quoted 20 minutes wait but took over an hour. Was completely overcooked, sunken & tasteless so this was really disappointing but the waiter knew & removed this from our bill.

I would actually stay here again if i could ensure a decent room as the value was good.

Our room was really warm and when I called down to ask about how to work the AC, I was told that it being March 10, the AC wasn’t turned on yet. However, the hallways, fitness center, and common areas were all cool, so I don’t believe the AC was not turned on in the building. We had to leave the window open and request a fan to cool down the room to a comfortable level. Further, I was asked upon check-in if we wanted cleaning service during our stay but our room was never cleaned. Not a huge deal, but I’m trying to give an honest and fair review. The customer service was a bit lacking and next time I’m in Salzburg I’ll likely be looking for another option for a hotel.

The hotel lies a little bit on the outskirts of central Salzburg, so you're not in the picture postcard pretty part of it but central Salzburg is easily walkable from there (15 mins). It likewise is not too far from the train station (maybe 10-15 minutes). I still got a nice view of one of the mountains in Salzburg. The staff are lovely and friendly. The rooms are very nice and breakfast was excellent.

there was not alot of food places around hotel to access - had to walk 15 mins to get to area for food. Food was limited at hotel. Bed was comfy, lots of space inside, safe was handy to store passports etc., but AC was not working and it faced the sun directly- so it was a sauna- muggy and hot- hard to sleep- had to call front staff to help- they found the AC unit was not working- so they gave us a fan which helped to give a breeze to cool us off-but felt like hot outdoor camping. Closed the blinds during the day to try to help in the reduction of heat- did a little. if it wasn't for that part the stay would have been better.

The shower head did not work so water got all over the floor. Had a wet floor all night. The telephone did not work at all because it had no labels on it. Calling zero did nothing. Other problems just like this. I don't know how they can even call themselves a holiday inn.

The room was clean and very spacious. The staff were friendly, helpful, and fluent in English. Breakfast is amazing but not worth 19 euros. There were a few English channels on the TV. I was really impressed with the amenities (Dove body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body lotion). The gym was well-equipped and always available. The only con was that our room key stopped working halfway and that the shower drain was clogged and was not fixed even though we asked twice.

Our stay is ok. The receptionists are not too friendly at all. When we came in the first day, they were so unfriendly. In short, i think theyre very rude. we asked for 2nd key but they said they dont have enough key and they can only give us 1. Fine. How about saying it in a very nice way than being sarcastic.

The only nice person there is Christian, the bar person. Thats it.

We had a little bad experience. The rooms were not well lit. Hot water kettle was dirty from inside and they refused to clean it or change it. We had to go down ourselves to change it or to get hot water. Shortage of staff. Did not have a very pleasant experience.

Hotel is a 12 minute walk from the centre of town. There are supermarkets and a few places to eat within a 5 minute walk, but nothing much at the hotel, except for breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Common areas are clean and fresh looking. Rooms are comfortable with most amenities including a bath / shower and some have a balcony which is nice to sit out on in the evening. However the decor is a bit dated and the dark brown furniture looks worn. Bed divan was stained and dirty so needs replacing, did not look at the mattress. Bedding was clean and fresh. TV remote did not work but we did not chase on this as most TV was German language. No instructions on the safe. Helpful to have a carpark on site as we drove from Munich and also drove to the sights outside Salzburg

Being charged for underground parking seemed unfair as there was only 10 free spaces outside the hotel and other guests had not parked responsibly. Decent location, but wouldn’t stay again.

While the hotel staff was friendly and the lobby is nice, the rest of the hotel is in need of an update and a deep cleaning, to include replacing heavily worn furniture and changing carpet flooring to some other type of flooring. We had a corner room facing the mountain, which offers a decent view until the sun was facing the side of the building where the room did not have automatic shades. The curtains should be replaced with blackout curtains to help keep the heat from the sun out. The air conditioner barely cooled the room at all and ended up leaking water heavily down the wall and onto the thermostat, which could have been a major hazard. Overall, given the repair of the room and uncomfortable heat due to the AC issues, the cost for the room was way out of a reasonable range for the quality.
