Location was not good. Not walkable to train station. City center is approximately a 20 minute walk as well. Internet wasn’t working properly. I tried to log on several times but couldn’t. Warm water in the shower turned to cool water within 10 minutes. Breakfast was very skimpy but staff asked a lot for it. (7 euros) I would have to recommend a different property. Although hotel was very quiet. Hotel staff obliged when I asked for a room facing the courtyard.

Hotel Drei

Hotel Drei is a bit of a mixed bag. It is a 3 star hotel but when compared to other 3 star hotels I have stayed in in Western Europe, it feels a little less than 3 stars. Eg. Reception is till 8pm at night and doesn't open until 6am in the morning, the bathrooms and flooring were quite outdated, the towels were old and very tattered, and pillows poor. We stayed four nights and no toiletries were provided until the last night of our stay, which was just 1 packet of shampoo and shower gel (for 2 people). Other 3 star hotels provide a lot more toiletries.

The beds were comfortable, however, the pillows were rubbish. They were very flat. The bed is advertised as a double, however, it was 2 singles put together. Im aware this is common in Europe, but I didn't encounter this anywhere else in Europe on my trip this time round. If the hotel advertises 'double bed' this is what should be provided, not two singles put together.

The location is ok, you can walk to the Old Town, Mirabelle Gardens etc or catch 04 bus into town.

The guy at reception on our last day was nice and printed off our train tickets for us.

The location was great, but it was SO HOT and there were no fans in the room making virtually impossible to sleep. Room fans would be so helpful. Also, each day there was one tiny packet of shampoo/body gel per person. It was so hot we needed 2 showers per day. It would be better to have a container in the shower that was refilled so guests were not limited - especially on very hot days. In addition, I tried to use part of my packet and left the other part in the shower for that evening since it was so hot, and the cleaning person removed it :(

Very clean and in a good location, about 10-12 minute walk from town. front desk very helpful.
Breakfast is basic but it's only 7 Euro to be fair, well worth that cost.
Parking is opposite on a scruffy bit of land and is 8 Euro a night.
No air con and a bit noisy at the front with the windows open.
We had a great stay here and would go back to this hotel.

We picked this hotel primarily since we were a family of four and the price was reasonable. It is somewhat halfway between the train station and the center of Salzburg which made it a good choice also. We did not choose their breakfast for 5 Euro but that was our choice, not due to the quantity of food.

A little out of the way, but not bad

The hotel room was average - it wasn't extremely spacious for 3 people, but there were 3 twin beds, and that's more than we could ask for, especially for Europe. The room was outdated, but it didn't bother me too much. The facility is not within the \"hotel circle\" so it's an extra couples minutes walk, but nothing too bad. Takes about 10 minutes to get to the river, about 20-25 minutes to the Fortress.

I loved the bathroom, though. Considering that the room wasn't too large, the bathroom was very impressive for European standard!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience. :)

Run-down hotel with a bad smell

The reasons we ended up staying here: acceptable distance to Old Town, and not overly expensive (~$200 CAD/night in August). Otherwise, the hotel was a disappointment. The room was very spartan (no safe, no AC, no mini bar, no coffee maker, etc.), and the bathroom had a constant smell of sewage (even after we bought an air freshener). Hotel staff were not particularly helpful, and there is no one at the front desk after 8:00 pm. Unless you really don't have any other choice ---- avoid.

OK room, but noisy and poorly ventilated.

Room was very clean and staff was friendly. The location of our room with respect to adjacent buildings placed it only a few feet from other apartments and closed off on three sides. So ventilation is poor even if you open the windows, and if you do you hear the neighbours from the nearby apartments. Also, the blinds did not work properly, and no night stands or reading lamps - annoying if you want to read in bed while someone wants to sleep. Other rooms in the hotel might be better. I am generally disappointed considering the price I paid during high season.

There was no desk clerk after 8PM. Each room key also opened the front door (not very safe.) If there had been a fire or medical emergency by a guest, there would have been no one to take the front desk call. It was not in a pleasant neighborhood and was very incomvenient for tourism. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, and they wouldn't let us cancel our reservation for the 2nd and 3rd nights, after we saw the condition. We understood no cancellation for the first night.

Location was not as close to the train station as I would have hoped, but the bus stops for the central station and city center were very close. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were helpful.
I accidentally booked this hotel for the wrong days and realized as soon as I received my confirmation. I called and emailed immediately and for days afterward to try to fix the situation. They did not answer the phone or my emails for 3 days, only to tell me that it was my mistake and I had to live with it when they finally did get back to me. After over a week (and some pressure from Hotels.com), they finally said that I would be able to make changes with a hefty change fee (per day), by which time I already had to irrevocably change my travel plans to accommodate my mistake. Their slow communication and poor flexibility nearly derailed my entire vacation. I understand the initial mistake was my own, but it was many months in advance of my travel dates and I only requested to push the dates forward by 3 days and add another day.

Had a very bad experience.

The worst experience we had. Never met staff as rude. They thought we don't understand their language at all so they made side comments which are not very pleasant. We will never recommend this hotel ever. If we are not tired from the long drive and not too late at night, we would just cancel our reservation. We had to transfer to a different hotel the next day to feel comfortable and enjoy our vacation.

Great corner hub from the city

The place is on the outer edge of the center of the city, but with some knowledge of a few bus lines, this is no problem. The price and quality of the hotel is very very reasonable and its close enough to the bus lines to be virtually near anything.

the hotel is really convenient with bila and spar really close by. receptionists are very helpful and nice. the reception closes at 9pm but we had no problems with that. it is also really convenient to get to the hotel by bus from the salzburg main station. take bus no. 2 and you will get there in 10 mins. only a 10-15 min walk to the centre where a majority of the sound of music locations are. room was clean and they cleaned it up everyday. will definetly book this hotel again if i come back to salzburg.

the only downside is that since our room was right next to the main road it was really loud when we opened the windows. and was a but paranoid someone will climb into our room if we left it open since it was easily climable.

Friendly Austrian hotel

Arrived tired after long drive from Luxembourg. Very excited though as the area was beautiful. Hotel appeared drab & room was not the best we have stayed in. Overall we had a good time, location was handy with a short walk into town - past a pub that brews its own wheat beer & lager & schnapps. Stayed 2 nights & breakfasts were good, staff very friendly. Would stay here again & would recommend it to friends.

This was my third stay since 2003. It's a very nice hotel in a nice area away from the busy areas, but close enough to get to them in a few minutes. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and the hotel is very clean. Although I didn't need it, it's a nice touch for the staff to give the hotel business card in case they get lost wandering the city. I will stay at Hotel Drei Kreuz on any future visits to Salzburg.

We only had one night in Salzburg and wanted to see an event at the Rockhaus which turned out to be only a 3 minute walk away. We walked to the hotel from the main train station (less than 15 minutes) and caught a bus close by to the city center for sightseeing although that would have been walkable too.

Very nice and helpful staff, clean and comfy room, basic but we didn't miss anything and the price was fair.

The hotel is very easy to find, situated on the street leading to-from the main highway exit and near the intersection of another main road. Unfortunately, this also makes is very noisy, with traffic all day and night.
Easy to park in a reserved lot across the street. Easy ten minute walk to the pedestrian area of the town.
The family room had three beds, one of them in a separate area allowing more privacy. Room and bathroom clean, good breakfast.

Not a luxurious option but perfectly adequate, entirely clean, with helpful staff. Not the most central location but station and historic centre are walkable in about 15 minutes; decent restaurants/bars about 10 minutes' walk. Ideal for a quick overnight on the way to somewhere and good value if you don't need every mod con.

This small hotel is a 15 min. walk from the Old Town. The receptionist was friendly and helpful when we checked in. We were in a small standard double - the only room to open the suitcases really, was the bed. No thermostat in the room, and it was a warm spell. Fortunately there's a drain in the bathroom floor because the trifold divider on the tub didn't keep the shower water in the tub. Breakfast was extra, and basic. But it was convenient and they were really clean - even wiped the chair seats when people were done. If you want a basic room, in a reasonable location, it's good value - as long as it's not during a heat wave.

Family owned hotel worth the stay.

Although Drei Kreuz Hotel was not exactly downtown Salzburg, Germany, it would take just a 10-15 minutes walk to reach the city's zentrum. My wife and I loved the roominess of our alcove and the friendliness of their staff. Their breakfasts are very good at a reasonable price and the hotel's neighborhood has many restaurants which serve both locals and tourists. In general, we were very satisfied with our experience at this hotel and loved the way we were treated by their staff. Caveat, take your umbrella or poncho, just in case.

Owners were not particularly friendly or helpful. Breakfast is not worth 5 euros, basically just breads and spreads and some watered down juice and bad coffee. Worst breakfast I have had on my 3 months of travel. Hotel was adequate for the price, clean and had everything one would need. Free parking was what made our decision to stay and they had convenient, free parking. If you are just looking for a clean, reasonably priced place to stay with free parking and walking distance to all the sites, this is a good place to stay. But don't spend the extra $ on the breakfast.

Drei Kreuz was a great little spot to stay. The hotel staff were EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. Hotel was a bit on the dated side but was charming nonetheless. Room was clean and large. Walking distance to the river (about 15 minutes). Free wifi was available in the room.

It was as I expected for what we paid. We've had better breakfast though. We stayed on one of the top floors and the room was dated. We then had friends arrive a day after us and they got a room on the ground floor. Their room wasn't as big as ours but it had been refurbished and was a lot nicer - and you didn't have to hold the shower head to have a shower! The staff were very nice. The location was walking distance to the old town and we got a tram up to the castle which was easy enough. If you're happy to walk and want to pay a little less its fine.

Our room faced a busy city street and it was also too hot to sleep without the window open meaning it was very loud in our room (there is no a/c). The breakfast was disappointing - the juices and coffee were water and there was no fresh fruit. Additionally, upon arrival, the hotel was locked up (it was 10pm), we had to call the clerk using the hotel doorbell. She unlocked the door with her phone.

A surprising little gem

This hotel is very small and appears to be out of the way. However, all the sights are just a short hop away on bus 4. The staff was incredibly friendly, willing to draw pictures on maps and give you all the help you need. Laundry was reasonable much cheaper than the bigger hotels. The hotel has been recently renovated and is bright airy and clean. The view of the mountain is lovely and the hotel is easy to find with the 3 crosses on the hill near the turn.

4 bed room was booked, but one bed was located in a separate place right in front of entrance door with no heating (so you can't really sleep there in April or earler).

Great hotel for reasonable price

The woman in reception was very friendly and helpful, we didn't even ask for a help but she gave us a map and showed how to get to the city centre and the old town.

Room looked just rebuilt and was clean, location was good, just about ten minutes walk to the city centre.

Of het nu kwam door de selfservice check-in of omdat er geen fatsoenlijke koeling op de kamer was, we hebben geen fijn verbñijf gehad.
Eigenlijk hadden we twee nachten geboekt en betaald, maar we zijn desondanks dat na 1 nacht vertrokken.
De kamer was te warm en niet geschikt voor drie personen: erg basic en krap.
Het geld voor de tweede dag parkeren en ontbijt hebben we keurig teruggekregen.
Wij vonden de kamer het geld noet waard.
Jammer...

Om positief te eindigen: het ontbijt was prima.

Haben die Unterkunft eigentlich nur zur Übernachtung gebucht, weil wir viel unterwegs waren. Haben dennoch in 3 Tagen nur einmal jemanden an der Rezeption gesehen.
Zimmer war ok, die Fensterdichtungen leider verschimmelt. Fenster konnte man entweder ganz öffnen oder schließen, aber nicht kippen.
Für den Parkplatz haben wir bezahlt, aber nie eine Parkkarte erhalten, die wir ins Auto legen können. Manche Autos hatten sie, andere nicht. Nach unserem Kennzeichen wurde auch nicht gefragt, keine Ahnung, wie dann kontrolliert wurde, ob man zum Hotel gehört oder nicht.
Zimmerreinigung war in Ordnung.

Acolhedor e com boa receção

Assim que chegamos o funcionário da receção deu-nos as boas vindas, deu-nos algumas indicações do local, mostrando um mapa. O quarto era acolhedor, com bom aquecimento e estava limpo. Não fica no centro da cidade mas 13 minutos a pé e estamos na parte principal. Optamos por não tomar o pequeno almoço.
Não ia com grandes expectativas deste hotel mas gostei muito.
