Pros: clean, quiet, lots of public transportation options, friendly/helpful staff, on-site breakfast
Cons: internet would not work more than a few minutes at a time (beware of your data usage), the fridge did not work, so you can’t store things in it, and the beds/mattresses have seen better days.
For the price and location, it’s worth it if the cons do not concern you.

The beds had stains and hair was found on the table and on towels- we stayed for a might so I didn’t make an issue but i had paid a lot for one night so was expecting cleaner towels n beds at least-not so happy- money wasted- staff was very nice

Small room, wi-fi is terrible.

Room is small for the rate being charged. For almost the same price you can book hotel in Vienna with the room double if not more in size.
There is a wi-fi, but at the evening time it is not working more often then working.
Breakfast is OK, although limited with hot food (only boiled eggs and scrambled eggs are hot).

Convenient location; artistic hotel; good staff

Location is very convenient to visit the city by walk or avail public transportation. One of the staff, Paula was very attentive to detail and very polite and welcoming. Rooms were clean and WiFi was quite good… Breakfast spread was decent and relishing. Overall a very comfortable stay.

Good location, easy check-in/out, good breakfast, elevator, quiet room, very comfortable bed.

Cons:
room was smelly when I entered, had to leave windows open for few good minutes until it was too cold
Quite disappointing - no water cattle in the room. This is pretty standard in all other hotels I stayed in Salzburg (over 10 I think).
Shower is good, but there is no glass door or curtain, so water are all over if you are not careful.

Adding these 2 small things, which shouldn't be a problem to upgrade, would deserve my 5 stars review.

The location was excellent and it was so easy to walk into the Old Town. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was very good. We had a room with Air Conditioning and it was worth it, as it can get very muggy in Austria. Our room also faced the street but with the windows closed, it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

Good location, old style hotel but renovated rooms. Rooms were clean could be improved by having extra pillows provided, changing bedding after a few nights. Bedding not changed during 4 night stay. Cheap soap dispenser offered - nothing else bit basic for a 4 star. Reception staff ok, but breakfast staff so unfriendly and sour. Coffee let out in plastic flasks no service at all at breakfast. Sparking wine not there 2 of the 4 days. Rather cheap bread and tinned fruit. More a 3 star hotel overall. Nice enough good location. Extra charges for air con units in room but safe included.

Fantastic Hotel

It was a very comfortable stay, out of the other hotels I have stayed at I always end up with a back ache as the mattress is very soft.

I checked out after after 3 days with mo back pain...

It is a walking distance to Lubzer Gasse and old town, but you get the nice and quite of the hotel too.

I would highly recommend it to anyone and will come again in the future too if I visit Salzburg again.

Comfortable stay

The room was very comfortable and clean. The 2 double beds in separate areas made for a very comfortable sleeping arrangement for our family of 2 children. Buffet breakfast was enjoyable. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk to the Salzburg old town.

Apart from the amazing location this hotel stands out due to the staff who are friendly and helpful. They try to meet your requirements and are happy to please! Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean and breakfast is of excellent quality. The hotel easily lives up to its 3 stars and is an excellent tourist hotel in a superb location. Great bars and restaurants are in the area and most of Salzburgs fabulous attractions are within walking distance. Overall it is excellent value for money. Danke Theaterhotel, we will be back shortly.

Was very pleased with this hotel from start to finish! We arrived super early before check in. No problem... gentlemen at front desk let us stow our bags and got us set up for parking right away. Parking is just a block away and very affordable.

The hotel is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. The room itself was spacious and extremely quiet. The beds were so comfortable. I had the best sleep in our eight day trip! We left early, before breakfast, so I cannot comment on that.

This hotel is absolutely fine for a city break. It is located just a minutes' walk from a pretty, pedestrianised street that leads down a (gentle) hill to the main bridge over the river to the old town.. and there's a supermaket close by.

I would say it's a 3* hotel, definitely not a 4* star, by British standards, as it doesn't have the facilities/ toiletries/decor you would expect from a 4^ but is clean and comfortable. We had a good sized room, which was rather bland and brown. There were twin beds pushed together with single duvets. The side street was noisy but I have ear plugs, so it didn't bother me and when you're in a city hotel, you have to expect some noise. We had to keep the window open, as the room was hot, although we didn't feel the need to spend 10 Euros a day on air conditioning. On the day we were leaving, (early on a Wednesday), the rubbish collection truck came round at 6.30am.. you have been warned!

There was a complaint online about the hotel not offering any conditioner or body lotion. The response was that reception stocks these free of charge and guests only have to ask.. So, I went down to ask for some body lotion but they didn't have any. Don't say you can provide it if you don't have it.

Breakfast was a decent continental breakfast, along with scrambled eggs and bacon. It was the same every day, though, which got a bit boring.

Overall, a good hotel, reasonably priced and near the main sights.

Located in residential area, 5 minute walk to Salzburg old town. Many restaurants and shopping stores in the walking distance. Was able to park car in front of the hotel from 7pm-9am. Our unit had A/C in one room but not in the 2nd room. We requested a fan for the 2nd room and that helped a bit. 17 minutes of walk to get this hotel from the main train station and Hertz rental car. It is an average hotel, a bit old. No extras provided.

Close, yet in a relatively quiet area.

This hotel is located just outside what we would consider the main touristic area of the city. 10 minute walk to the Mirabell Palace (and area where most tour buses depart from), and probably 10-15 minute walk to the river and main crossing bridge to the principal shopping areas, Mozart's birthplace, etc. It is really convenient, there are supermarkets nearby and if you have been travelling for a while and need a cheap/self service laundry, there is a very good option nearby. The area is not as busy as the main area across the river, still it is surrounded by beautiful streets which make the (very short) walk to the touristic attractions even shorter and enjoyable.

We liked the hotel and found our room very comfortable, especially with the air conditioning. Breakfast was good but not outstanding (canned fruit mostly). I would recommend it as a decent value but folks should know that it is a 15 min walk to get to the river and there is s slight uphill coming from the river that does level out after a while.

Very good hotel with nice room but 15-20 mins walk city center which is quite far. And there is no near by grocery stores or restaurant, it only restaurant nearby is the Chinese restaurant which the food there is very bad.
However, comparing with price and room condition, this hotel is very good choice for those who don't mind to walk to city center.

Nice hotel , with big clean rooms. The shower fixing was broken but it was repaired very quickly . We were on the ground floor and was a little noisy late on a Friday evening/ morning. Good hearty breakfasts but a bit cramped and very busy. Would definitely come back again.

This hotel is in a great location-very close to a walking street and the breakfast is good with a nice variety. The two bedroom rooms are great for a family and we very much enjoyed our stay.
I would recommend this hotel as it has an easy location, is a great value, and there are several restaurants and shops nearby. There are fancier hotels for sure but this is plenty nice and is clean with nice facilities. There is a small bar where you can get drink in the evenings and the staff helped us arrange tours and gave great dining suggestions. I would certainly stay there again when in Salzburg.

The location is great. It is situated within walking distance of restaurants, tourist spots and cafes. The shower was tiny, but I knew this prior to booking. I had stayed at the Hotel Carlton the night before and would definitely recommend it (bigger bathrooms).

Also, if you don't travel with your own toiletries this will be a problem. We did, so it wasn't a problem, but beware. The room was clean and there was a heater.
