Extremely disappointed with my stay. It's such a shame because the actual hotel is in a good location and clean but the staff is super unprofessional and the amenities were poor. I've never been more embarrassed in my life, the women during check in was so unprofessional and rude, she spoke to me like I was a 2 year old and was argumentative (I have never experienced this at any hotel I've stayed at in the world). She should not be in a customer service facing role, I was actually in tears from how rude she was. I had 2 rooms booked and one of the rooms had no running water for the first few hours because of on going construction (which meant no use of the bathroom or shower). In the same room, the safe was locked, we kindly asked reception to unlock it so that we could use it, they said they'd be up in a few minutes, we waited an hour and still no one came. When we returned to the room later at night, it was still locked, the staff would say \"we'll be up in a few minutes\" and wouldn't come up. Finally, the night staff came and fixed it. The safe in my room ALSO had issues, it wouldn't UNLOCK even with the right code, so once again we had to chase up reception to come and unlock it. My hotel room key on the second day also stopped working, so again, back to reception to resolve. Trust me, it's not very pleasant kindly asking for help when you can feel the tension from the staff disliking you and hating their jobs. Put a damper on our whole trip.

This was our first time visiting Austria, and overall we had a very good stay at this hotel in Salzburg. The hotel was easy to find and very convenient if you have a car. There was easy access for unloading luggage and available parking close to the hotel, which made arrival and departure stress-free.
The staff was helpful and welcoming, and the room was nice, clean, and well insulated. Breakfast was good, with great coffee, and the location was excellent very easy to walk to shopping areas and many of the main sights around town.
One small downside was the lack of complimentary water in the room, which would have been appreciated. The vending machine for bottled water didn’t work very well, and while water was available in the lobby, it was removed later in the evening, making access a bit inconvenient.
That said, these were minor issues, and overall we had a positive experience and would recommend this hotel, especially for travelers with a car who want a central, walkable location.

Upon initial check in the gentlemen was not to pleasant and to be honest a bit rude, when I questioned him about staying an additional night, sure wish I got his name. On the flip side the next morning, there was another staff member (Sissi) which was extremely helpful on establishing a reservation for an additional night. There was another staff member (Irma) who also assisted. These 2 ladies deserve some type of recognition that each front desk employee should hold themselves to their standards of customer service and politeness.

The room was basic but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast buffet had a good variety and was good. There is on-site parking avaliable, but they don't offer in/out privileges, so if you need your car, it's cheaper to park at a garage a short walk away.

Odd smell throughout the 4th floor of the hotel. Our room smelled like it had animals in it previously, and had been smoked in.

Only one type of blue soap, no shampoo or body wash or conditioner. Same blue soap for both handwashing and shower. We left a night early. No coffee maker or tea station in the room - this is a first for me, I’ve stayed at many hotels across many continents.

Breakfast was really good. In a quiet part of town but still very walkable. The staff was not too friendly. No toiletries. No wash rags. The sink was not very clean. They put the glasses directly on the nasty counter without a paper cover that most hotels use, no way I would drink out of it. I stayed here 6 nights in two different rooms. One room had a decent size bathroom. The other had a tiny bathroom. I would stay here again.

Hotel Hofwirt was an excellent choice and I would recommend it highly. As a first time solo traveller, I wanted to stay somewhere I felt safe and where the environment was clean, comfortable and not too big or overwhelming.
The staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. The accommodation was modern, minimal and clean. I brought my own travel kettle but the hotel does have a wonderfully relaxing communal area where you can make tea and coffee or buy a snack from a vending machine. It even has a microwave which you can use and charging points near the sofas. Outside is a huge patio area. Everywhere was clean and looked after. Breakfast was nice but get there early if you want the eggs or porridge to stay hot.
The only draw back for me was the comfort of the bed - the mattress seemed quite hard, so I ended up sleeping on one of the single duvet covers which worked well. Also the shower wasn't very powerful and the way it was positioned made it difficult to negotiate. It didn't ruin my stay though because everything else was so great.
Even though I was on the road side of the hotel, it wasn't noisy (unless you opened a window). I enjoyed hearing the distant bells from St Sebastian's. The location of the hotel is very good... close to shops, cafés and restaurants. Mirabell Gardens was a 10 min walk turning right out of the hotel. Straight on out of the hotel would bring you to the river and across to old town, 10 min walk. I put my case into storage after checkout - no charge.

This hotel had some of the best spread for breakfast: fresh, delicious, and different options for various preferences. They also had coffee and tea available all day everyday. The lounge and garden were well maintained and I spent hours just relaxing there after a long day outside. Much love and appreciation to the staff!

A terrific spot to stay, right across the path to the medieval city. The hotel itself is perfectly neat and functional, with an additional asset, its spacious interior courtyard. Breakfast is served and it should satisfy all tastes. You can walk straight to the old city, take a bus, book a tour of surrounding attractions as you wish.

The hotel is absolutely fabulous, in a great location and yet only 15minutes pleasant walk from the old town and also the station.
Breakfast is excellent with plenty of space either indoors or outdoors. Coffee and tea available 24/7 is a nice touch. Our only complaint was that they do not offer any decaffeinated options for tea or coffee which is a shame. Overall we highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay in Salzburg

Very clean and modern. Like any European hotel in the heart of the old city, the spaces are small, but everything is new and modern and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower water pressure and temperature were excellent. The bathroom was small but modern and clean and functional. Breakfast was included from 6:00-10:00 AM. The food was excellent with lots of varieties. The location is excellent. It is on walking distance from the train station and right at the start of the Main Street of Alstadt (Old Town). Therefore, most attractions are accessible by walking.

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff was friendly, polite and explained everything the hotel had to offer. The room and bathroom were clean. There was no noise. Upon checking in they explained that Salzburg has a city pass if we were interested in it. The hotel also provided (no charge) city bus pass. The breakfast (included) was phenomenal. Large selection of foods and beverages. I would stay there just for that. The location is perfect. Lot of restaurants and shopping. It is only a 10 minute (?) walk to the downtown area. Not sure if they had air conditioning because of the weather we didn't need it.

Perfect location to stay in Salzburg

This hotel seemed to be near everything. It’s easy walking to many tourist sites including the Panorama tours starting point and the Linzergasse which is fun to stroll down to the river. There is also a grocery store on the next block.
We thought the breakfast was spectacular and the room and bed were also very comfortable. It also has a nice lounge and patio area with free coffee for guests at any time.
We also liked that this hotel felt far less crowded than other places we stayed. The staff was friendly and available for any questions.

The beds were very Soft and dipped down when you laid on top of them. They must have been very old. I was bitten by something either a spider of bedbugs. I had a rash for a week.
The first room they gave us was so tiny. I told the manager it was unacceptable. He was nice enough to give us another larger room, but this is were the beds gave me a problem.

We stayed here recently when travelling across Austria. This was our third stop in the trip. Austria is such a beautiful country.
The hotel is well located to all the sightseeing places. Good restaurants close by including the burger place just across the road.
In terms of the hotel itself, the service staff were friendly and helpful, both in the reception and the dining area.
The downside was that the rooms we were allocated were right next to the rooms that were being refurbished. Workmen started work at 7.30 am everyday of our stay including Sunday! Luckily we were early risers but if we had been planning to sleep in, that would have been impossible with the noise and commotion outside. The hotel should have warned us about this before allocating the rooms to us. And due to the work, we kept trekking in the dust and debris from outside to inside the room. This was unavoidable but very undesirable.
Rooms are basic, bathroom only has handwash which also doubles up to shampoo and bodywash! So bring your own toiletries if you are planning on staying here. No slippers, shower caps etc.
Breakfast was good. Good enough choice and hot food like scrambled eggs and boiled eggs available. The Austrian version of Nutella is just as good or better!
There is a common area where you can have coffee and tea and just chill. But they don't allow drinks from outside as they have a bar there. Ridiculous rule as such when they can't do anything if we took the drinks to the rooms

Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, hot water, good breakfast choices. I would not bother with a balcony unless travelling in the summer, the view is limited.
