The hotel is very nice. The back of the hotel is Mirabel palace. But it’s a bit far from the city central. The room is very nice and spacious considering it’s in Europe where most hotels have smaller room than the USA. Overall it’s a good hotels.

Disappointing stay, work needs to be done

Overall we had a disappointing stay, which is a shame as this hotel was once of very high quality.

Sadly we were not informed prior to our stay, that there was major construction in the hotel.

The rooms and corridors are tired, to the point where carpet is now fraying and we found our air conditioner to be noisy. It definitely does not have the look and feel of a 5 star hotel

The covid screens make check-in and check-out impersonal. I have very bad hearing and it was impossible to communicate clearly with the staff because of these glass screens. It was a disappointing start to the trip, and the fact these privacy screens are still installed in 2025 is quite frankly a joke.

The restaurant is excellent and the bar staff are quite frankly some of the best in the business. As the shining star in the hotel, they need special recognition.

We absolutely adore this location! It’s a prime spot, perfectly connected to all major attractions and transportation hubs. The hotel is nestled right against the enchanting Mirabelle Place, the iconic filming site of “The Sound of Music.” A delightful 10-minute stroll will take you to the historic old town, and the train station is just 12 minutes away. The service? Simply top-notch, with staff that are incredibly friendly and helpful. Evening entertainment is a true highlight, especially the mesmerizing performances by the pianist. Our room featured a fantastic outdoor patio, perfect for relaxation—though, unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate.

The staff was excellent and good breakfast. My cancelled flight required that I stay in Salzburg four additional nights. I booked the hotel and arrived at 7:30am. They were able to find a room for me and let me check in right away instead of waiting for the 2pm check in. I also really enjoyed the weight room and saunas. Great location too!

All the services including front desk and restaurant are excellent. Check in is fast and I saw some guests can have their rooms even they come to check in in the morning. Foods in the restaurant including breakfast and dinner are very good except the waiting time for dinner. We waited for more than 40 minutes to have our meals but the waiter noticed that and kept follow up with the kitchen. This hotel is just sit next to Meta Bell Garden so you can go to the garden early in the morning to take some beautiful pictures. We went there at 7:30am to take photo and only 1 or 2 persons walking in the garden

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was simply fabulous - our room overlooked the park. We only had to walk across the gardens to get to the Mirabell Palace and to go on day tours. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was great. I loved the bar and lounge. The only thing missing fir me was tea abd coffee making facilities in the room.

I enjoyed the property which was very well put together with the interior decoration...,lovely. I had room 115, Everything was super. l thank Matel for his help along with the front desk personal for help in getting my extra luggage sent to Vienna by train....The young bartender made me great martinis and was very entertaining. In all it was a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Grand in Salzburg.

We even had a wonderful view from our hotel to the Mirabell Gardens.

Very nice hotel near everything. Easy walk to train station. Very nice staff. However, upon check in, I found desserts in my room—a welcome gift from the hotel. I started to eat them and found mold in one of them.
I wish they had on-demand movies in English.

Wonderful place to stay in a wonderful town

The front desk greeted us warmly, and were fluent in English. The bellman poured us a deliciously a beverage, and showed us to our room.
The room was very tidy and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the amenities high quality, and the air conditioning on a hot July day was exceedingly refreshing.
The breakfast buffet was fresh, ripe, quality food. They also offered a piano lounge with cocktails, although we didn’t actually participate.
The location is excellent for visitors to the city, with many tours originating at the Mirabellplatz which is essentailly adjacent. It’s a short walk to the birthplace of Mozart and Old Town.

Old hotel as the history of Salzburg. Toilet and shower booth in one space separated by glass wall that is not undesirable for simultaneous using. Sound of Music tour run by panorama tour and Mirabell palace is just around the corner. In conclusion, recommended hotel.

Room was clean , comfortable, right next to gardens. However the Lobby was under full renovation when we got there. They had a make shift one set up on one side of the hotel. Our rooms were on the 1 floor right over the renovation. If you left your curtains open you came face to face with the construction worker and the work being done. Rooms were also being renovated on our floor. I asked to switch, but they didn't have anything available. I'm glad it was just for 2 nights.

The hotel is in a good location, however I was expecting much more for the price and brand that we are paying for , some of the front desk staff were not very polite and didn’t even acknowledge that that it was my wedding anniversary even though I had mentioned it in my booking and at check in, not even a small chocolate bar to congratulate us, the room was alright but small for the price we payed and a little dated, the cleaning staff threw our luggage around when we came back after spending the day out and had to rearrange it ourselves, the worst part was one of the elevators wasn’t working so we had to wait almost 20 ‘ins each time to go up or down and in a very crowded elevator, the only good things about the hotel were the waiters at the bar and the bell boys , they were exceptional and friendly and truly deserve a raise ! They made my stay bearable

This hotel is rated 5 star, but it is more like a 3 star hotel. There is nothing special about the hotel. The staff is nice, for sure, but the facilities are not luxury by any stretch of the imagination. Perfectly fine for a short stay but not 5 star. The hotel was under construction when we stayed there but we were in the renovated rooms - nothing at all special or interesting about them. Very ordinary.

This is a nice modern hotel with friendly staff. However, it is about a mile walk to the main old town, and it quickly became tiresome having to make that extra walk to and fro each day. The room is lovely and large, room service was well-done, and the outside patio was nice. However, we ran into two issues. First, we bought our Salzburg Cards directly from reception. When we went to use them, they were declined because they were listed as used and expired. The only explaination for this is that we were sold old cards. After several calls to the hotel, we were given new card numbers to use while we were out, and the new cards were waiting for us when we returned to the hotel. This is something that never should have occured and makes us wonder at the honesty of the reception staff. The second issue occured shortly after checkout. We realized we had accidently left some items in a drawer. We called the hotel and asked about them, and asked them to check the room. In short, after several calls, the items were not found. Yes, we accept it was our fault leaving the items behind, but it's suspicious that they could not be recovered when the hotel was notified so quickly.

Great Location, Poor Buffet Breakfast

Stayed at the Sheraton Grand Salzburg post Christmas as it was central to the city.

The rooms were great, however were not interconnecting as requested.

Buffet breakfast was a disappointment - the hot items weren’t hot (bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs) - the chef cooking was more interested in being out the back. Service staff were attentive however as I mentioned - disappointing expensive buffet breakfast and I was unable to get a room with breakfast included.

I tried to book the two rooms for my family under my name as I have a SPG/Marriot membership card and was unable to do so.

I paid for the room in full on booking some months ahead of the actual dates of stay. As common practice, on check-in, I was asked for details of a credit card. Despite having paid for the room in advance, the hotel tried to put through charges for the room (not incidentals and other costs, but for the accommodation itself) to my credit card. The credit card company rang me. I asked the credit card company to decline the charges. The credit card company, rightly so, assumed that was fraud or at least the possibility of fraud and cancelled my credit card. I had just spent approximately 4 hours dealing with the consequences of a cancelled credit card.

Apparently, I was not the only guest that had the problem.

Nice hotel with direct access from the garden restaurant to Mirabella Park. Morning walk along the river close by is very refreshing. Like most European hotels, the decor tends to be old fashioned but not unpleasant. Breakfast is very good with wide selections. Very clean rooms and bathroom. Bed is comfortable and I slept very well.

Maybe it was just my luck but I got the room at the end of the building where the next door heavy drilling and construction work could be heard in my bones the whole morning. The staff acknowledged the situation verbally and had nothing else to offer. a couple of advils where my next step

nice location but..

upon arrival i found no one at the entrance, i just parked my car, started to unload my stuff, my wife took the baby out of the seat and only after a few min a guy came out, and asked if we need help.
well since we had gazillion suitcases and bags i would guess we need help..
that was a bad start for me
the stuff at the reception was OK, unlike other hotels (e.g. grand hotel Vienna) my son didn't get any \"welcome-gift\", its not a deal-breaker but it shows the hotel approach to kids.
the hotel itself is very 80's like in design
the stuff during breakfast was nice and helpful
not sure we will be back again, the prices asked are NOT equal to the experience the hotel offers

Wonderful front desk staff. Helped us with a second room despite a very busy week in Salzburg due to the Music Festival. Very accommodating and helpful staff who assisted us with tickets for a Baroque music concert and dinner reservations for a fine dining restaurant. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone coming to Salzburg
