Like: the room was built on the ancient Amphitheater. It is located in the midst of everything.

Dislike: The AC did not work. IT was unplugged. After a day I realized that, but then the remote had no effect in setting temperature, etc. I sweated every evening. The noise outside prevented me from leaving the window open.

There was no cleaning service. Only once did someone come to empty the trash basket and removed a used towel. Two tiny soaps and two packets of shampoo. I had to go out and buy some.

I never met the host. Once a man was outside my room, but he did not greet me nor identify himself. In a minute he was gone.

The breakfast included was across the street. Same stuff every day. Nothing to write home about. NO fruit.

A room with a view.

Great view, great location. If you want contact free, this is the place for you because other than through text or whatsapp, you won’t see anyone. Old building is great but FYI, no lift. The blow dryer didn’t work and no replacement was provided. Breakfast location was very close and nice. Lucca is beautiful and you will enjoy the location. No bells or whistles just a room with a great view of the center.

great position ...but ...

Position is fantastic, overlooking at one of the best squares in Italy. The rest regarding the apartment is mediocre really. Bed is old and cheap, bathroom is tiny and overall all just an ikea apt. Nothing wrong with that but let’s say, it’s position and window view is its best part. Also the owner wasn’t flexible on checkout time on a pouring rain day when no one else was coming in after us, where he could been more flexible.

Whilst the location of this property is excellent it is in need of a revamp. It needs updating and cleaning properly. Bathroom doesn’t smell too nice and the kitchen and crockery needs a good scrub. The bedroom looks out into the Piazza Anfiteatro however unless you only require 4 hours sleep a night bring some industrial ear plugs.

It looked like a Bosnian war building staircase with electrical open panels and wires concrete chipped wallls THE APARTMENT WAS FREEZING!! there was no breakfast available as advertised Whoever gave good reviews it had to be fake!

Very good quality room and facilities decent breakfast very friendly helpful staff but top of the building up lots of stairs which is fine if fairly fit and traveling light. Against that accommodation location and view not to be faulted. Ate in the squapiazza anfitteatro on our doorstep spoilt for choice but would reccomend anglotondaanglotgood food reasonable cost and a very friendly atmosphere made welcome and looked after.

It may be in an excellent location but you probably won't get a view over the Piazza. There is no one around until 3:00pm so if you arrive early you'll have to leave your luggage in the restaurant nearby. You have also got to negotiate steep stairs to the 4th floor. If you need to be away early breakfast doesn't start until 8:30

Lucky to find this B&B in Lucca

We enjoyed our stay at the At Home B&B. The room was large and well furnished, the breakfast was ample, tasty, and served in a pleasant, sunny room, and the host was very nice. The location was excellent. The main reason I did not give the top overall rating was that it was not clear on the B&B's website that there was no elevator, and our room was on the 4th floor. This was a minor inconvenience for us, but it could be an issue for other guests.

View reigns supreme

We arrived a little early but were able to store bags in the restaurant below and start exploring. The room is up many stairs but is a decent size and has an excellent view out over the Antifeatro. Aircon is noisy but welcome. Breakfast was very good, with its own view over city rooftops. Great choice for Lucca.

Very cosy apartment with excellent views overlooking the Piazza Anfiteatro. Very clean which is important. If there is a downside it is having to track down the owner at his shop nearby when the sign on the door said he would be in a cafe.

Great location and space but parking and noise bad

The pros and cons of staying in Lucca Italy are something to consider if you are traveling with a car. The location is great if you want a central hub for all the major Tuscan cities like Sienna, Volterra, Pisa and San Gimiagno but the parking situation will be rough if you stay inside the walls of Lucca.
Our apartment was very nice in size except for the bathroom and kitchen area which were tiny. The bedroom and living room are huge with ample closet space and living quarters. Our bedroom windows opened up to the main plaza and was located near many shops and restaurants. Lucca is great in every way but parking is nearly impossible as it's metered from 8am to 8pm and you are not permitted to drive inside the walls of the city without special permission. Overall the apartment was simple, clean but the noise from the sanitation trucks each morning at 4-5am was terrible. Something to consider if you are a light sleeper.

Hidden gem in the heart of Lucca

Had a lovely stay 'At Home' in Lucca. Staff were there to meet us outside the door. Room size good and very clean. Super breakfast. Only slight downside was that the room faced onto the street which was quite noisy late into the evening.

A gem of a find

Lovely accommodation. Great location, friendly staff, nice buffet breakfast included. Lots of stairs to get to room so be careful if you have reduced mobility.

Great location but a little unclean and noisy

Wowed by the location, atmosphere and view onto the Anfiteatro but the experience was soured on a few occasions.
We understand it's an old building, and areas like the bathroom sink and toilet were clean, but the floors were dusty and dirty and two dirty drying towels in the kitchen you wouldn't want to use.
You also sacrifice a good sleep for the location - it's noisy.
On arrival we were told breakfast wasn't included and it would be five euros each. One morning we had breakfast in the B&B's Cafe Puccini in the anfiteatro - 2 poor cappuccinos and basic shortcrust tarts cost us €16 although the bill listed the cappuccinos as €6 and the tarts were listed at zero. This didn't seem strange because a nearby cafe does a deal: 2cappuccinos and homemade croissants €6 in total.So we paid and left a tip. As we were leaving the waiter said there was a mistake and we needed to pay for the tarts, €10 on top of what we'd already paid.
One reason we chose At Home was for the airport transfer option, our booking said it cost €40 round trip, and reviews mentioned a 'small fee'. When we were dropped off at the B&B we were asked for €50. Ok we thought, a bit cheeky, you've upped the price by €10 but we let it drop because we always tip.
When we were dropped back at the airport the driver asked if we'd paid. I said yes, on Monday when we arrived but an email since says that the €50 was for a one way trip.I screen-grabbed our booking which said the shuttle was €40 roundtrip&Marco relented.

Lovely room in Lucca

Lovely room looking right out into a busy bustling square. The owner was available and helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good and so lovely in presentation. Bikes were great to use. Location great. Only drawback was it was noisy in the evening being right on the square- but also exciting to be a part of it

Arrived earlier than 3pm check in and were able to store our cases in a nearby location. Stayed in Apartment opposite the B&B, location excellent, just outside the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. Apartment was nicely furnished with kitchen, but as we were only staying 1 night, we didn't use it. Hired a bike from the apartment owner for 6 Euro each for the afternoon & were able to use it for as long as we wanted during the evening. Shower great, bed comfy and plenty of storage. Breakfast was on the 3rd floor of the B&B (up quite a few steps) and consisted of breads, ham, cheese, cereals, fruit - all really fresh and tasty.

Perfect B&B

We were in Lucca for a few days and At Home was perfect for our stay. The main location for the B&B is sentrally located and our room was a few doors down from the main building. The owner, Marco, owns a store under the main location as well as an apartment (or maybe a few apartments) around the square for hotel guests.

The room was spacious, clean, quiet, and the breakfast was the best we have had! On our way out of town, my husband and I even discussed staying there again when we are back in Lucca! I would recommend it to all my friends either staying a short period or for an extended period of time.

Only 2 issues; no parking and I actually got a parking ticket. They should have mentioned the location does not have parking. Other issue is that its 3 long flights up to reception/Breakfast and rooms. I bit of a morning workout, but could be a problem if someone has physical issues.

We felt very comfortable at the apartment. We loved the ancient stone and wood of the walls and ceiling, yet appreciated the up-to-date amenities of the bathroom and kitchen. The breakfast spread was appealing and generous; the host welcoming and gracious. We would definitely recommend At Home B&B to others--just make sure to park your car outside the city walls!

Lovely Lucca

As it was a late arrival at the airport there was no public transport to where we wanted to go so decided to book room in Lucca at this B&B as it offered an airport pick up (at a reasonable cost) and we intended to visit Lucca during our stay in Tuscany anyway. The view from room over the piazza was breathtaking at night. It was in a fantastic location. Friendly welcome and spotless rooms. Breakfast was a lovely start to the day. B&B also offers bike rental at a better price than from hire shops nearby.

Comfortable room and bed in a room overlooking Lucca's round piazza; thought it might be noisy but the windows cut out the noise and the piazza seemed to empty late at night. Some of the furniture seemed a little IKEA and might not last the rigours of boisterous travellers - go careful with that loo roll holder!
Provision of nice wine glasses a nice touch, well used...
Breakfast excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. First night out on holiday, terrific view over the piazza and a really great start - thank you!

We spent a week here to visit Lucca and the surrounding area. The location is terrific (our room overlooked the Amphitheatre) and the two delightful people who run the B&B could not be more helpful. Even the 56 steps up to the property were worth the climb!

Lucca is a wonderful place to visit. The apartment was bigger than I expected and it was perfect for a family of 4. Our window overlooked the Piazza and although it was busy during the day, it was quiet after 8.30pm at night.

Unbeatable Location in Lucca

We loved Lucca, this hotel in a excellent location, it is on the out wall of the anfitheator, the inside are all shopping store, restaurant and coffee shop. Vivian and Marco were great in giving directions and accommodating our needs. The room was clean, shower very small, but seems like a standard size for small hotels. Very good selection on the breakfast. The only real downside is the amount of steps to get to the room.

Great welcome from Marco the owner. Good breakfast - buffet style with fruit meat cheese bread croissants etc. Rooms are spacious with air conditioning. well situated right next to the Anfiteatro (actually part of the surrounding buildings). Lucca is a greta city to visit with a rail station that gets you direct to Florence or Viareggio on the coast. Great food in a city full of decent eating places.

Fun and convenient plaza

Lucca is a beautiful town to visit. The room was comfortable. We stayed in another building. There was a long staircase. Beware of it if you book the annex room. We didn't have a problem with the steep steps. Breakfast was good (in the other building). The staff are really nice and helpful. We rented bikes on the premises. It was convenient. Ride bikes through Lucca and the wall. It is so fun, relaxing and beautiful views. Bring ear plugs. There was a concert out in the plaza and it got loud. It didn't bother me but my husband couldn't sleep until all the party goers went home after the party around 2am.
