Love, Love, Love this place!
As well as the two lovely ladies ( Ingrid and Marta) that make it even more special. They were always so kind and helpful. Having the delicious breakfast every morning was wonderful. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable.
The location is absolutely perfect, with every thing worth seeing within easy walking distance. There is nothing else that you could ask for. I will definitely be back again…

The lady on reception was most amazing . Gave us the friendliest welcome I have ever received . Always smiling and offering to help and advise . The room was spacious , comfy and spotless . The breakfast was super , and the service top notch .

The hotel was a fabulous example of Lucca - the entrance door was 15th century, the room decor was typical of the period, yet with clean, modern facilities, and the lady managing, Ingrid, was so helpful and kind. Breakfast was just lovely. Fantastic stay to start our holiday.

A gorgeous, quiet, very small hotel in an old palace just off one of the main Lucca streets.
We had a large twin room with a lot of character and a good bathroom. The ladies who run the hotel are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent with home made yoghurt and cakes. The hotel is very clean and in excellent condition. We highly recommend this memorable and delightful hotel.
For people with limited mobility there is limited parking and not to the door, There is a flight of stairs and a heavy door up to the hotel. There was a small amount of noise one night but generally very quiet and right in the centre of all the sights, restaurants & shops.

Super ‘old school’ residence inside the walls

Great location off main dining, shopping avenue in Luca Centro. Ditch your car just inside the walls of this marvelous city and walk! Great European breakfast. Lovely, helpful hosts. Highly recommend.

This property was right in the heart of Lucca and it was eady to walk to all shopping and dining. The historic location was well kept and the general manager was a lovely host and she prepared a wonderful breakfast that she baked. The parking is a little hard to navigate to due to construction on a road, I recommend not driving into the walled city of Lucca, get a ride there if possible.

Our stay here was fantastic! The room was spacious, there was a jacuzzi shower and the Wi-Fi was great. Ingrid and team were really friendly and recommended a great place to eat on our first day. The location is brilliant - really safe, in the middle of lots of amazing restaurants and just off the main shopping street in Lucca, about a 15 minute walk from the train station.

Hotel A Palazzo Busdraghi is a wonderful place to stay in Lucca! I stayed in room 4 and I found it to be super nice and comfortable. The included breakfast is wonderful with lots of variety in baked goods, meats, cheeses, fruit, eggs and more. Everyone at the hotel is super nice and helpful. The location is close to everything you'll want to see. My room was nice and quiet due to the double glazed windows and solid wood shutters. I highly recommend.

Noisy location

The NOISE at this location is unbearable. I’m a late night person but the drunken, loud younger people in the streets below this apartment made for a miserable stay. This is NOTthe hotel location. It’s a little trek from the property, in a building near the intersection of two party streets. It was truly a disastrous stay. No rest. And I tried sleeping pills and good silicone earplugs. Still, the noise until two or 3 AM was crazy.

Good location

Lucca was a nice stop on our tour of Italy. The wall around the city made for a delightful walk around—approximately 4kilometers. The hotel was very conveniently located to restaurants, sights and shops. Very convenient. The staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. The room was quiet even though it was on the street side. With only 8 rooms it was very nice.

We stayed an the apartment in the annex building and it was stunning! Perfect location to explore Lucca and the views of the amphitheatre, towers and hillside are beautiful. Wonderful service at reception too. It's worth mentioning that (limited) off-site parking is available as an extra and the kitchen even has a dishwasher. I would stay here again.

The Hotel is awesome. The whole vibe from the first entrance doorway up the stairs and to your room pulls you into a relaxing Italian vibe. It is simply a romantic beautiful authentic place to stay with friendly lovable characters serving you food or helping you with your daily requirements.

I would highly recommend this as your place to stay in Lucca. It is in an ideal location for restaurants and exploring.

Lovely hotel, host and location

Upon initially booking the hotel we received a message from the hotel offering their greeting and if we had any questions to feel free to get in touch. I took this up prior to arriving to ask for recommendations for a restaurant the evening of arrival. They made a few recommendations and after we’d chosen booked on our behalf.

As noted above, communication and the helpfulness/friendliness of staff was excellent.

The hotel itself was very nice and clean, with some of the rooms being very large. It looked clean everywhere and the welcome upon arrival and throughout the stay by the staff was very pleasant.

It is in a good location in Lucca walls and is within walking distance of plenty of squares, bars, restaurants etc.

Breakfast offered a good spread and variety of food with the chef speaking direct to offer your choice of coffee and eggs. All were very attentive. This was along with the buffet breakfast which was very tasty.

Overall this was our first time in Lucca but the hotel was great with very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel as well as the beauty of the city made us want to return in the not too distant future.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Beautiful historic building with amazing view of the amphitheatre. Apartment is spacious and very clean (apart from stains on the sofa and carpets) with everything you need. Service from all of the staff we dealt with was excellent - extremely helpful and charming.
Cons: No blind at the upstairs bathroom window which overlooks many other houses with windows!
No drawers for clothes.
Stairs - we are fit and stairs are not usually an issue for us; the first flight are extremely steep, different depths and uneven - with no handrail in part and part of the handrail on the second flight is loose. I feel the stairs should come with a strong warning for older people and children.
Lucca has a lot of beautiful architecture but it has lost a lot of its charm for us since we last visited 4 years ago - generally the food was mediocre (really not what you expect in Italy), highly priced with not great service. There was the odd exception but not many.

This is a very old building that has been well maintained. The staff was wonderful and helpful. It was not the place for me because of the many stairs at the entry and unexpected stairs here and there.. part of the ambiance I guess. Marta was stupendous and helpful,. Breakfast was more interesting than usual.

Misleading and very disappointing accommodation

We arrived at the hotel which we thought we had booked (after lugging our heavy luggage all the way up to the grand reception) only to be told that our 'Romantic appt' was not actually in the hotel but situated in a different location (approx.10 min walk away) and also, that we were not the first to make this mistake. Upon arrival it was absolutely not what we expected - miserable, uncomfortable and definitely not 'romantic'! We were incredibly disappointed and felt very cheated by the way this accommodation was sold to us. The website is misleading and deceptive. The 'Romantic Appartment' is advertised as part of the appealing looking hotel (impression created from the photographs especially). We would NOT recommend this apartment.
Furthermore, internet is provided but impossible to access - staff seemed unable to understand that a second password is required by the provider, Wind. Previous occupants had also obviously had the same struggle going by the notes they had left behind.
Finally, earplugs were provided - and needed!

Excellent location if a little hard to spot. One of the busiest streets in Lucca. Look out the small plaque on the wall and the small bell push beside the huge wooden doors set in the wall. Doesn't look like a hotel entrance but it is. Hotel itself is quirky. Reception is up a couple of flights of stairs. Very welcoming and friendly staff throughout our stay. Great room - we had the suite. Nice breakfast and plenty cafes restaurants and bars around the corner at the ampiteatre.

Stayed here for three nights. Great location in central Lucca. Lovely breakfast with home made cakes. Charming lady in reception for whom nothing was too much. There are only seven rooms in the hotel and it is an old converted palazzo which has been sympathetically done. Only drawback is not having anywhere to sit out. Had room to the front and not noisy at all.

OK apartment, very noisy street

The \"romantic apartment\" would have been OK (calling it romantic is a bit of a stretch) wasn't it for the unbearably noisy street just under our windows. First night we could not sleep. The following nights, even with ear plugs we were still awaken multiple times during the night with people laughing, street cleaning trucks, motorcycles, stores opening and all kinds of noises.

Apartmento Heaven!

We stayed in one of the apartments off site from the main hotel. It overlooked the main Piazza and the views and location were truly magical and memorable. We didn't have much to do with the hotel whilst there, however they helped arrange us a transfer from Pisa airport which was helpful. The apartment was so big and modern and we couldn't have asked for anything else

We stayed at the apartment down the street from the hotel. You have to walk up some dark narrow stairs to get to it, but when you get there it is a light, airy large apartment and is just beautiful! Very well equipped and clean, with great views of the city and the piazza below. It overlooks the old Roman amphitheater and is very central to everything. We loved it.

Rooms with Views

we stayed 5 nights. first night we were in wrong apartment (via Buia - would not recommend) and then fixed for following 4 nights. lovely location and great view of the amphitheater, nicely renovated, modern, 2x aircon and very clean. steep steps so recommend packing light, 4 flights to bedroom from street. Marta very helpful and efficient. we did not stay in the hotel so cannot comment on service, breakfast there. clear glass on upstairs shower is ok for some but prefer some frosting or curtain. great view of medieval tower though. parking very convenient and security gated.

A gem in Lucca!

Most pleasant and attentive stafff of any hotel! Great location, although there's a little bit of noise in the morning. Wonderful breakfast. Excellent value. Parking arrangement is a plus in the beautiful city of Lucca.

High quality, great location

We stayed in the annex apartment, which is on 2nd floor and directly overlooks the Amfiteatro - the most beautiful public space in Lucca by far. Everything about this apartment is high quality. Note that breakfast is not included - because you have your own very well equipped kitchen.

A genuinely lovely hotel

This was a really super hotel with excellent front-of-house staff. The room was very nice and the breakfast super. We will certainly use this hotel again if we're in Lucca again.

Wonderful central location in Lucca

The location is ideal- within the walls of the town, just off one of the main shopping streets, but very quiet and comfortable. The hotel has character and we were given an upgrade, which was airy and spacious. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful pensione style hotel in central lucca.

A very charming pensione hotel in central historic Lucca. Beautiful rooms with the best breakfast buffets we had anywhere in Italy. Great location on the northern side of historic Lucca, right on the shopping street but quiet since it is in a courtyard. Very hospitable and helpful staff and owner. Lovely furnishings and bathroom. Highly recommended but not for disabled or people with very small children: quite steep stairs up to the lobby area and then several little steps up and down enroute to the rooms.

Excellent apartment and superb location!

After checking in at the hotel, we were directed to an annex apartment a short walk away. When we saw the door, which was very old and in bad condition, we wondered what was behind this door?
Going up many steps with our heavy luggage was a chore, but upon opening the apartment door, we were completely stunned! It is a beautifully designed, bright and airy, well-equipped modern space. I could have lived here forever and been completely happy!
The location is on a lovely shopping street, with many restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance.
The city wall is close by for a bike or walk around the city.

Comfortable hotel close to centre of Lucca.

Hotel staff are exceptionally nice and helpful.
Building itself is interesting and hotel is located on the first floor of a larger block, originally the palazzo. The hotel itself has been decorated beautifully and is quite comfortable. Hotel staff are splendid and it was a pleasure to be there.
Bike hire and touring Lucca and it's splendid walls is a must.

Small and friendly in a great location

The hotel has only seven rooms but the location is great with little noise from street. The staff are friendly and make a real effort to help their guests have a great stay. Variety of fruit, pastries, bread and cakes for breakfast should suit most tastes.

The Hotel is fairly quirky being located on the first floor of a building in the main street in Lucca.

However once located you will find that the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the Hotel is very clean and well presented.

An ideal location for a visit to Lucca.

Excellent location in Lucca. Historic building.

Near to everything. Lovely old Palazzo. Stayed with my friend. Owner very helpful and suggested we go to 2 restaurants with gardens - which were fab - and attend the Puccini mini opera in one of the churches. This turned out to be the highlight of the trip. Overall the stay was one of the best experiences we've had. And the breakfasts were a delight.

This was a great, little hotel inside the wall. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel is built into a very old building but is nicely done. Not much to look at from the outside, so a real surprise when you get in. The room was nicely furnished and maintained. There was parking nearby and easy access to the street. This was our first time in Lucca and the walled city was great. We were surprised by how many shops, restaurants, etc were inside the wall. A great place to spend a few days.
