The room and staff were fine, though there is not a full-time desk person after 7:00PM and on the weekends. The biggest surprise (Not a good one) There is no elevator, so bringing up your baggage can be a problem. But it is in a great location and is very affordable.

Piccolo Hotel Puccini is located just outside of the main piazza in Lucca, and affords an excellent landing space after exploring the city's sites and enjoying a hearty Tuscan dinner and drink. The hotel was extremely clean and easy to locate, and the staff were exceptionally helpful in finding parking for our rental car (only a 10 minute walk outside the old city walls). Breakfast is served onsite, if you'd like it, but the hotel is also close to dozens of pasticcerie and bars, should you choose to go elsewhere.

The only drawback is that Piccolo Hotel Puccini does not have air conditioning or a strong fan for keeping cool in the summer. It's possible to open the windows at night for some cooler air, but the hotel's proximity to the main piazza ensures that it will be quite loud late into the night.

Great little hotel

Amazing little hotel in the heart of Lucca. As soon as we arrived by taxi the owner of the hotel was out like a flash bringing bags in for us and giving us info about the area. Bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Price was excellent.

Quite nice but .....

The hotel is inside the walled city. It is quite easy to find but parking is an issue. We were directed to an area on the edge of town to park - about 1km away. This was OK - just - until we returned to our car the next day and found a parking ticket on it.

Room is nice but beds were very uncomfortable. They need to invest in new mattresses and pillows.

Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Comfortable hotel in a very beautiful city

We stayed here for one night to see James Taylor & Bonnie Raitt play the Lucca Summer Festival. The booking process was easy and the room was comfortable. It is 3 minutes walk to the centre of the old town with so much to see. Air conditioner made sleeping easier on the hot night. Paolo the wonderful receptionist was incredibly helpful staying up late to let us all in after the concert and finding bus timetables when we had to leave.

Although the bed was big and comfortable, the room was smaller than expected and the ceiling fan was noisy, so the staff was kind enough to bring in a free-standing fan. And while I didn't get a view, the hotel is so well-placed in the heart of the historic center that it really offset everything else. I would stay there again, given the chance.

Not for those with a car

Clean and adequate, great location for exploring Lucca although noisy at night. Wouldn't recommend driving in as it's a total pain (driving through pedestrian lanes and having to deal with the ZTL) and you'll have to park farther away anyway. Overall just ok.

Nice place, well located

This is a nice little hotel in a great neighbourhood. The rooms are small and sparsely furnished; bathroom is tiny. Our room in the back was a little dark. But, heh, you're near the Spanish Steps and Borghese Park, and a short walk away from the Trevi Fountain. The hotel is not well marked. Since this is a no-car zone your taxi might not be able to drop you off directly in front of the hotel,so you'll need to walk a block or two. The front-desk operator is friendly and totally helpful. Note: When you arrive you have to walk up one full flight of stairs to get to the reception. For breakfast, try the place just up the street on the right. Nice people, good food and coffee. Enjoy!

Great location, friendly staff

We were in a room overlooking the square with Puccini's statue so it was a little noisy, but Lucca is so charming that we took that in stride. The room wasn't very clean (bathroom floor dirty, lots of dust bunnies under the desk). I probably wouldn't have even noticed these things if the room wasn't so tiny. The location is excellent, right near St. Michaels square and practically smack dab in the middle of town. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I would book this hotel again of we ever find ourselves back in Lucca!

Excellent choice for the cost

Piccolo Hotel Puccini was just fine.

There was one SNAFU at the beginning - my father also rented a room on the same dates, and the staff was confused; imagining it was only one party and not two. When we arrived at the hotel the staff realized its error and had to send another party to a different nearby hotel so we could all stay at the same place.

For the price level we had not expected opulence or enormous rooms or beds, but what we got was fine, clean, and comfortable. The staff was friendly, courteous, and kindly tolerant of us.

We would gladly return.

Petit hôtel simple et charmant, calme et réaménagé avec goût. Hôtel non gardé la nuit, pas de petit-déjeuner sur place. Douche un peu exiguë, mais la chambre est jolie, le plafond haut est agréable et le rapport qualité-prix très bien. Idéalement situé en ville. Bon acceuil. Je recommande.

No recomendaría el hotel

Cuando llegamos al hotel para hacer el check-in, el señor que estaba en la recepción no nos hizo sentir para nada bienvenidos y su actitud hacia nosotros fue deplorable. No sabía español ni inglés y nosotros no sabíamos italiano, así que traté de hacerme entender con aplicaciones de traducción, pero él nos decía con señas (y no muy amablemente) que no estábamos en la lista de reservas y que él no sabía usar la computadora. Luego, por suerte, otras personas que se estaban alojando en el hotel nos hicieron favor de traducirnos lo que decía el señor, y hacerle saber que nosotros sí teníamos una reserva. Les indicó que su jefe estaba a la vuelta, en un restaurante en el que también era gerente y nos teníamos que comunicar con él, así que tuvimos que ir al restaurante a buscar a alguien que sí nos entendiera y nos pudiera atender. El gerente fue muy amable con nosotros, se disculpó y nos proporcionó nuestra habitación.
La habitación no contaba con aire acondicionado, y el ventilador no era tan potente como para refrescarnos del calor de una noche de verano.
Al día siguiente cuando nos íbamos, revisé debajo de la cama para ver si habíamos dejado algo y me di cuenta que estaba lleno de polvo.

Aunque ya en el check-out nos atendió otra persona que también fue muy amable, le cobraron a mi esposo 10 euros más de lo que habíamos elegido en la página, que supuestamente ya venía con impuestos incluidos. De esto nos dimos cuenta hasta que ya nos habíamos retirado.

Sono tornata a questo hotel che già conoscevo. La posizione e' eccezionale a due passi dalla chiesa di san Michele. I proprietari sono molto gentili e disponibili.
Forse è un po' datato ed andrebbe ristrutturato, ma a me va bene anche cosi!😃

Sehr schönes und familiäres Hotel inmitten der Altstadt. Parkplatz muss außerhalb genutzt und bezahlt werden. Dafür sind die Herren der Rezeption sehr sehr freundlich und heißen einen wirklich sehr angenehm willkommen. Gerne wieder!!
