I absolutely loved my stay. It was spacious with beautiful palm trees at the lower area where my room was. English breakfast was served and the food orders took max 30 minutes. It was quiet, serene and the beach beds were not as crowded as the neighboring hotels. It has the best beach area that forms a beautiful pool during the high tide and it was never crowded. Staff were very helpful and payments were paid with card or cash in USD and TZS conveniently. WiFi was a bit weak in the room but overall was accessible across the property and beach area. The room was big enough with all amenities. Pictures don’t do justice to this beautiful and leafy hotel. Will definitely return!

We stayed in one of the bungalows close to the beach, which I would highly recommend. The rooms up near the reception would require walking a steep set of stairs each time you wanted to use the pool, beach, bar or restaurant. Our bungalow was very nice with a front porch to sit on. The front desk staff was helpful with arranging boat tours and taxis. The beach in front of the resort is beautiful and very swimmable. There are great shaded chairs and beds to use while lounging near the beach. The swimming pool was large enough, but could use better maintenance. Many tiles are missing and the stairs do not have a handrail. I slipped on the slippery tiled steps and injured my head and leg.

Rooms need to be checked before check in . My room phone did not work so could not inform them of other things missing not working right away. Safe not working, AC not working for hours one day, missing no disturb sign. Needs a bedside lamp very dark at night. Hot water only last 5 mins. Love the property but these aould be easily fixed if checked

Great staff, great location, but nothing special

The overall stay was nice. Check-in and Check-out were very quick and straightforward.
The room was nice and comfortable with both ventilator and AC, a small minibar. The wardrobe was only a hanger section, so no shelves for you to put you clothes but it wasn´t a big deal in my case.
The bathroom had a leak and kept getting wet, but they fixed it throughout my stay.
There was no wifi in my room, so because I had to work while there, I had to go to the restaurant area to use the wiFi.
The food was decent and with good prices.
The service from the beach staff and the bar were very good and friendly. cocktails were ok and the prices were a bit on the highside.

It is a nice choice of stay if you want to relax in a big hotel with decent facilities, but if you´re looking to enjoy more the bach and what the island has to have and use the room basically to shower and sleep, you might consider a slightly cheaper accommodation, since this one despite being good, has nothing special.

The upper unit was very spacious, comfortable and spotless. The management and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is good and the others meals were very good including great pizza. We extended our stay as we liked it so much. Unfortunately, the beach (all hotels) has a litter problem.

NIce property but there really isn't anything to do within the property. No swimming pool when you can't swim in the ocean because of too much algea and jelly fish espevcially when it is too hot.

Water temperature not well controlled. Could not get colder water for shower even if the hot water is turned off. No free drinking water provided in the room when their water is not safe for drinking. You have to buy yur water even at the restaurant. Restaurant food hit and miss. Breakfast selection not good. Only has egg for protein. They linit the amount of fruits ( ony 1 banana, LOL!) I wont recommend.

Best location in whole Zanzibar

This hotel has large clean rooms right on the best beach in the island. Other hotels are far from the sea but this one has the best sunbeds in town with amazing views and an awesome non-expensive bar. Staff super friendly.
No WI-Fi in rooms, but u got it at the beach/bar area.
We def recommend it!

Nice beach, but needs some attention to service

THE NOT SO GOOD
- Food at the beachside restaurant is pretty poor and overpriced - why they don't fix the service and menu and make it great I can't understand. I'd recommend going next door to Kendwa Rock.
- Internet is available at the restaurant and beach (not rooms), but it is painfully slow and essentially useless if more than a few people are using it. Certainly don't rely on it being available. Again, a relatively easy thing to fix to keep customers happy, but the management doesn't seem to care.
- Service not particularly good or attentive
- They often run out of beach towels - need to sort that issue
- Beds are really quite firm to be that comfortable
- the fan didn’t adjust (one speed only) - reported at the time
- the phone didn’t work either - also reported (and known about but not fixed)
- the shower not sealed and flooded the bathroom (reported)

Basically the management need to take a good hard look and fix some issues with service, rooms, food and wifi to make it a great place and one of the best locations on Zanzibar

The best beach in Zanzibar belongs to Sunset

The location and beach area is the best. Not crowded, pleasant sunbeds and umbrellas. Wonderful garden. We stayed in building Lulu, which is one of the oldest in the development, therefore a bit worn down. Yet, beds were confi, room spacious, great segregated balcony with fantastic view to the Indian Ocean. Cleaning was okay, we even had an old AC, but did the job. Good value for money.

Good location but Terible service and cleanliness

The location is very good, but that's pretty much it.
I know it is rated as a 3 * hotel, but i guess even these ones should have at least minimum of cleanliness and services.
The room was not cleaned properly and the shower and the sink had visible disgusting salt/calcium deposits and the bed sheets were full of stains.
Regarding the service, sometimes it was good and some times deplorable.
We didn't used the sunbeds provided most of the time because of our busy schedule, but the one day that we went and asked for 2 beach towels ( which are included in the hotel facilities) the guy in charge of that told us that there are not anymore available. Here i try to explain him that is our last day and we wanna take a swim in the sea and we need 2 towels and his answear was: \"well we don't have anymore...what are you gonna do about it?!\" Which i think in any culture this is called a deplorable service.

Amazing hotel on a paradise beach! The setting is simply perfect.
The hotel and room were beautiful, especially for the price - comfy bed, AC, great shower, even the cutest patio directly on the beach.

The Staff could improve by:
- preventing hosts to book recliners in the early morning and not using them (sometimes for almost the entire day) while other hosts would like to use them
- adding music to the bar/restaurant area - Kendwa rocks does it really nicely
- helping with booking snorkelling days. Instead, you have to go through beach boys.

Affordable, comfortable, private

Sunset Kendwa was a great place to spend the weekend. The private beach area is beautiful, with a few steps to the water. There are beach boys and salesmen, of course, but they're much less pushy than in Mombasa or other Kenyan beaches, and are happy to take \"no\" as an answer and leave you be.

The restaurant is tasty and affordable, with solid seafood options including curries, fresh coconut dishes, and my favorite, the lobster kebab. Breakfast is a little limited, but you get a choice of eggs with fresh fruit and toast. The Sunset is next door to a 5-star PADI dive shop, Scuba-Do, which was why we chose the property. The diving was scenic, the water warm, and the weekend memorable.

Kendwa is far from Stone Town and the other stuff in Zanzibar, but the resort offers a bus ride there each morning. There are other resorts right along the beach you can walk to if you want to eat elsewhere, try other watersports, or just get a change of pace.

A beautiful place to stay to enjoy the wonderful Zanzibar white beaches. They have a private beach so a very quiet atmosphere abounds! Plenty of space for everyone. Food is great at the restaurant....breakfast buffet is limited, but good. Rooms are nice and clean....bathrooms are a little worn, but plenty of hot water, Flushing toilets and a hair dryer!! Very nice staff.

Beautiful spot, super value

The bungalows on the beach are indeed preferable. The beach is gorgeous and wide open and is frequented by the locals for soccer games, volleyball, and trying to drum up business for cheaper snorkeling trips and of course trinkets. The 'beach Maasai' that every resort/hotel 'employs' act as guards, and the locals (the Maasai are not local) know that they are not allowed to come too close to the hotel premises and if you just say 'no thank you', the hawkers will leave you alone. We did sign up with one of these sketchy snorkeling trips to Mnemba island, and it turned out great (and was $50 less than Scuba Do's). If you are staying down in a beach room, and you are over 30 (ie: don't tend to party until 4am), you might want to bring along some earplugs for sleeping. The dance party (in peak season) with DJ is only one night a week at Kendwa Sunset (Fridays, I think), but the next night and the night after are DJ dance parties at the neighboring hotel, Kendwa Rocks (which has a cover charge for non-guests, btw); needless to say, it'll probably keep you up unless you're already obliterated yourself, or you have earplugs.
The food is decent, but not as good as at the pricier hotels and at Kendwa Rocks, but it's not terrible.
The room amenities are sparse. No water; the tap water is barely desalinated, so you really need to buy bottled water -- there are bodegas up in Nengwe where you can stock up for cheaper. Soap bars only. No beach towels. No bathtub.

Great hotel for a Beach holiday

When I booked this the reviews were quite bad - so after staying in Stone Town for a couple of nights I was a bit worried about this accommodation. NO NEED - We arrived to a great welcome from the hotel staff & were given a room right on the beach - Very clean room and great English type mattress. The room was close to the bar area but far enough away so we were not disturbed. The Breakfast was disappointing as was always cold & the Trainee Staff were quite rude at times but the employed staff were fantastic.

An overpriced disappointment

Apart from the broken mosquito net in my room, the non existing Internet service along with the incredibly mediocre breakfast which was included contributed to making this stay a complete waste of time to a high price. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone when there are so many incredibly nice hotels and resorts next door and it is definitely worth to pay the extra 10 USD to stay at a place with class instead of the dump which is Sunset Kendwa.

A estrutura do hotel e a comida sao excelentes,realmente fica nabeira da praia e a piscina é uma delicia. Porem o quarto fica o dia todo sem arcondicionado com a desculpa q o gerador deles nao serve pro arcondicionado. A noite quando o arcondicionado funcionou ele nao gelava o quarto. Na segunda noite faltou energia de nov na cidade(vive acontecendo) e o gerador quebrou,ficamos no escuro e calor nem o ventilador funcionava,eu acho q se voce oferece arcondicionado e o cliente paga por isso,e na cidade vive sem energia, oseu gerador tem q dar conta de ligar os arcondicionados dos quartos,e o aparelho tem q ser capaz de gelar o quarto. Nunca indicaria nem voltaria nesse hotel

Abbiamo soggiornato al Sunset Kendwa per 2 notti con sola colazione inclusa.
Struttura molto bella, curata e accogliente.
Camere molto pulite e confortevoli, anche l’aria condizionata funziona perfettamente.
Cibo buono, con molta varietà a colazione, da segnalare l’estrema lentezza del servizio pranzo, nonostante sia una struttura grande con la presenza di molti camerieri. Inoltre una sera ci siamo presentati alle 22:30 per poter mangiare qualcosa ma ci è stato detto che non era possibile nonostante la chiusura del ristorante fosse alle 23 (essendo Kendwa una zona tranquilla non abbiamo trovato nessun altro posto per mangiare).
Fantastica la possibilità per i clienti di usufruire dei lettini direttamente in spiaggia.
Per concludere, ci torneremmo e consigliamo assolutamente di alloggiare in questa struttura

Amazing setting. Service improvement potential.

Kendwa Sunset is very well located by a beautiful beach. Hotel is well kept and with a cosy feel. Green garden feel in first part of the hotel and beach vibe at the bungalows located as an extended part of the beach.
Room was good with nice beds, clean and with nice size bathroom.
Beach area is large with more space between chairs than many other hotels. Pool had great clear view over the beach and ocean. All this would give a 9-10 rating.
However service was clearly the worst we experienced among the 5 places we visited in Zanzibar. Seemed to be a mix of Language challenges, care and pure skills. So bring a lot of patience and Hakuna Matata in order for it not to destroy your experience.
During 4 days (ehere we also ate elsewhere) we experienced a meal that did not arrive until we were ready to pay, rarely being able to order what we preferred (more than other places) but the challenge was not so much ‘sold out/not in stock’ but lack of knowledge among servants on what was available so ordering was a cumbersome and time consuming process, incorrect order when food arrived and attempt to make us order things we did not want ‘because we have already put x in the system so could you not have y instead’. Likewise for beach towels where ‘sold out/not available right now and not able to find out when we could get a towel or if we could use our rooms towels instead until we went to the reception.
However the day the little lady in the restaurant was in, all went smooth 😀

We had a great holiday, thank you to all friendly and good people at Kendwa. This beach hotel Is a little paradise. The restaurant is at the beach- you dine and watch the waves and boats. The beach life is colorful and interesting; acrobats perform, people passing by, also some sellers but everybody is respectful, without pressure! The days at the beach were peaceful and nice. The area of Kendwa Hotel is great, Sand and many Palm trees. Very peaceful and clean place. Wifi mainly in the restaurant area.Most delicious is the food. We had half board and got a buffet dinner quite many times. The food was really delicious. People from other hotels came for dinner to Kendwa. The staff is always helpful- Zena and her team: asante sana! We highly recommend this hotel.

Strandnära hotell med fint hotellområde.

Uppskattade att hotellet låg vid stranden och hade ett fint hotellområde med tre pooler och gym. Hotellet hade en mycket bra frukostbuffé. Det jag upplevde mindre bra var utbudet av mat för lunch och middag när vi inte hade valt till lunch- och middagspaketet. Hotellet ligger lite utanför Nungwi och vägen dit på kvällen kändes lite osäker att gå när det är mörkt.

Das Areal des Hotels ist wirklich WUNDERSCHÖN mit den vielen Palmen und der direkten Strandlage. Ich habe es geliebt aus unserem Beach Bungalow rauszugehen und direkt auf Sand zu sein. Für unseren Urlaub hat es so absolut ausgereicht, um eine schöne Zeit zu haben. Das Personal war immer sehr bemüht, aber teilweise etwas planlos und vergesslich, was wir ihnen aber nicht übel genommen haben. Die Umgebung des Hotels ist leider sehr arm und für Alleingänge nur bei Tageslicht sicher.

Ett magiskt ställe med fantastisk personal!

Oj vilket ställe! Vilken service nere på stranden och i restaurangen. Läget är perfekt, stranden är magisk. Det enda vi hade nån synpunkt på var att kanske lite mer kryddning i maten (och lite för stora portioner), samt att de låter gäster ”paxa” solstolar en halv dag innan dom kommer och nyttjar dom. Samt att wifi är väldigt svajigt.

Annars är vi så nöjda att vi faktiskt ändrade om vårt sista hotell och ska bo vår sista natt hos dom igen. Magiskt!

1. Pessimo servizio dello staff
2. Acqua fredda per tutta la durata del soggiorno

5. Tovaglie da tavola sporche
6. Teli mare macchiati
7. Tempi di attesa esageratamente lunghi
8. Pessima organizzazione dello staff
9. Wi-Fi assente in tutta la struttura eccetto che al ristorante

Abbiamo visitato 4 resort a Zanzibar, e questo è l’unico resort che ci ha deluso terribilmente.

The location on the Beach was really nice and the room was big, but the hotel felt really old and needed a brush up, the toilet leaked water on the floor, the bathroom in general was all worn out and the musquito net had a lot of holes. Overall a medium experience - bed okay, food okay and location good

Minha experiencia foi muito boa. O pessoal do Staff eram excelentes, a Xenia dos restaurantes, do Zacharia e o Jackson foram muito atenciosos, merecem nota 10! Estào de parabéns pelo trabalho. A única coisa que recomendaria seria melhorar a qualidade do WIFI do hotel, que pudesse ser acessado também de dentro dos quartos.

Abbiamo soggiornato La prima settimana di dicembre posizione ottima la migliore secondo il mio punto di vista il mare e praticamente attaccato agli ombrelloni E non si risente Del fenomeno dell’alta e bassa marea. bellissima la vista del tramonto . Il cibo del ristorante è ottimo e ben cucinato. Территория отеля ухоженная, располагает пальмовой рощей, которая ведёт к пляжу. Номера просторные , жили в корпусе LuLu на втором этаже, уборка на 5 баллов. Вода горячая есть всегда, так как бойлер, матрасы жестковатые, дают шампунь и гель. Сейф есть, чайника нет, холодильник есть. А вот шумоизоляция плохая (щели в дверях, сетка между ванной и коридором)! В щели на балконе залетают комары, кусают беспощадно, вечерами слышна долбежка музыки из соседних отелей. Зато к нам прилетала сова :). Пляж хороший, лежаков достаточно, но, пол пляжа слева стоят лодки, справа в будние дни проходили шумные занятия детей в воде, релакса нет, только уходить прогуливаться , благо пляжная полоса позволяет и виды в сторону Нунгви живописные. К вечеру из соседнего отеля начинает играть музыка, дети кричат, торговцы тоже )), это жесть. Завтраки скудные и не вкусные (омлет, блины, пару вариантов выпечки), фрукты выдают по кусочку, кофе в пакетиках. Пару раз ужинали в отеле, не понравилось, лучше ходить в соседний Кендва Рокс. До данного отеля останавливались в Паже, вот там рай, хоть и отливы. В Кендве это самый бюджетный отель среди отелей первой линии с нормальной территорией и достаточно просторной зоной для лежаков, в целом нормально.

El hotel esta muy bien ubicado en frente de la playa. El personal es muy amable y atento y el cuarto limpio y cómodo . Tiene problemas con el wifi y el desayuno está colapsado. La empresa de buceo del hotel Scooba Do muy recomendable.

camere grandi e pulite, con tutto il necessario, spiaggia molto bella, in una posizione ottimale. colazione scarsa,con buffet misero sia dal punto di vista del dolce che del salato. in alcuni zone le camere non sono illuminate, la ns camera al secondo piano aveva la scala completamente al buio, si consiglia di incrementare le luci, dove necessario per permettere di raggiungere le camere in totale sicurezza. preciso inoltre essendo una spiaggia con accesso possibile anche a chi non soggiorna nell'hotel, di suddividere la clientela in modo che lo staff riconosca le persone registrate per il soggiorno e chi solo per alcuni gg da esterni, onde evitate dei fraintendimenti imbarazzanti, con incrementazione di ombrelloni sdraie per tutti

Un posto per una vacanza STUPENDA.....

Il posto è sicuramente in una posizione invidiabile a nord est dell'isola di Zanzibar. La spiaggia la location l'esposizione al tramonto della Costa dell'isola mi fa dare la massima valutazione al posto. Il cibo è buono si mangia un po' di tutto il servizio è ottimo e non ha sovrapprezzo anche se si mangia sul lettino in spiaggia davvero interessante. La pecca è che il condizionatore in camera non funzionava ed era rumoroso la pulizia e buona ma secondo uno standard africano un po' meno di quello che ci si aspetterebbe ma comunque soddisfacente. Per avere la camera rifatta il cambio degli asciugamani Bisogna ricordarsi di girare il cartello fuori dalla porta altrimenti tutto Resta con me non è un problema basta ricordarsene. Un altro piccolo problema è la distanza dall'aeroporto che è circa un'ora un quarto di strada è un costo attorno ai 30 €35 però una volta arrivati sul posto ci si rende conto che ne valeva la pena. I prezzi all'interno della struttura sono più che accettabili anzi si potrebbe dire persino convenienti. La difficoltà di spostarsi e di visitare l'isola dal Resort è comunque un dato reale ma vi sono i taxi appena fuori Resort oppure richiedendo lì all'ingresso e il servizio è sempre impeccabile. Un'alternativa sono i dalla-dalla una sorta di camioncino con i sedili dietro.Ho fatto visita nel periodo natalizio e devo dire che la direzione si spende molto per creare le condizioni migliori perché la clientela si goda il posto davvero molto bello. Ritornerei.....
