The location is very convenient and close to public transportation. An iron is available upon request. The service was quick and efficient.
The only concern I had was that there were often groups of people standing outside the hotel entrance or around the property. I wasn’t sure whether they were hotel guests or just random people, which felt a bit concerning at times.
Overall, everything else was fine and the stay was okay.

Very convenient to Geylang restaurants. Across the street from the premium salons. 5 minute walk to the Aljuneid station for the EW green line MRT. Drawback is that the area is rapidly evolving to another Delhi.

The hotel offers a pleasant stay with friendly staff. Its proximity to the MTR station is highly convenient. Guests will enjoy the abundant choices of local restaurants and the convenience of a Sheng Siong supermarket nearby. The only significant design suggestion is to redesign the bathroom door; a sliding door would be far more efficient than the current swing door, which wastes valuable space in the room.

No hand soap or hand towel. They told me to use the body soap in the shower. I got a towel with a huge ripped hole. The room was clean but no maid service every day. Very small room. No where to put your luggage. It would be nice if they had a folding luggage rack/stand.

Positive: clean bathroom though tiny.
Negative: very sketchy neighborhood. At least on 2 occasions suspected \"guest\" appeared to be in the company of working girl. Imagine my shock. Decades ago this was red district of Singapore. Apparently it was cleaned up. Highly doubt it though. Pay a little more and stay elsewhere especially if women traveling alone. ZERO safety lock on door which itself is safety concern. Lastly, AC broke down at around 10 pm. ZERO notice to guests. When I asked for refund, the guy was rude and hung up. He even chided me saying I can't talk to him that way. Wth?! Obviously lack of customer service and clueless how hotels are run. There was water on the floor throughout bc of AC breakdown. S$100 for this? Do not recommend at all.

I think overall the property itself was not bad. It is clean, and the staff were friendly towards me in their communication. But given that the hotel is in Geylang, and in a very particular area of Geylang, it definitely is not family friendly. There are pimps outside across the street, and the hotel is used by customers (majority men) using the hotel not for overnight stays, but a few hours at a time, sometimes as short as 1.5 hours.

What ultimately made me decide to leave this review was I was disappointed with the way some of the guests were being treated by hotel staff. By these guests meaning people obviously not looking for paid sex. The interactions to me, felt very disrespectful.

Overall, my room was fine, it was clean. Got stared at by a lot of men, on the streets outside. If I have to pick a Hotel 81 again, it wont be the same one. Definitely in a different location.

The area around the property at night seemed to be a red zone.
Public transport in a close walking distance.
You could feel the noise from other rooms and the corridor.
The smell from people smoking in other rooms travelled to our room by the ducts.
Windows couldn't be open.

Hotel was ok, it’s does the job , nothing special, rooms a little small and the toilet door lock was broken .

The staff are friendly and do go out their way to help.

I would come back again if I was alone but not with my wife and kids. There’s not much there in terms of comfort or room service / breakfast facilities , good for students or anyone just wanting a place to stay .

The toilet did not have a bidet - though it was stated upon booking, would have been better if it was provided.

The sink in our room is clogged, the water took too long to drain.

The room service is okay, they change sheets every other day but they provide fresh towels daily.

The area around the hotel is a bit crowded especially at night, there seems to be bars in front.

Stayed out of the hotel most of the time, the room was used for showering and sleeping. The neighboring rooms were quiet, did not have any trouble sleeping at night.

Nonetheless, had a pleasant stay. :)

Nice, clean, recently renovated, budget hotel in Singapore. Staff is super helpful. Although the location is not in the city center but is very accessible by bus, MRT, super easy and convenient to get around. The street food near here is amazing. Highly recommended if you are looking for both value and quality. I stayed here for 2 weeks (kept renewing). I did stay in another Hotel 81 chain, this one is by far the best.

The room was just toooooooo small. I couldnt get into the bathroom without hitting myself somewhere. And couldnt open the room door without hitting the bed. It was just too crammed. Theres no closet space, even if there was a small cabinet made for personal clothing that would have helped. My delicates were out in the open and i wasnt pleased. Also, when i was looking to book the hotel, it said there were complimentary breakfast, NOPE. Overall, the cleaning guy was nice, he did a great job and had great service, and that was it. I wont be returning here.

Leaking toilet / shower (strong urine smell back of toilet), some buttons not working on safe, hotel guests shouting, laughing and banging doors in hallways after midnight then starting again at 7am
(this happened most nights). We are not angry....the hotel was OK
and staff very friendly and helpful. This was a better hotel than Mercure Shaw Parade Kuala Lumpur (our last booking with Expedia) where I paid for 3 people and got 1 queen bed and told that my 15yr old son must sleep in between his mother and father or pay more for a rollaway bed (extra $372AUD), so I slept on the floor for 2 nights and my son slept on a half lounge with legs supported on a chair for another 10 nights. So in brief Hotel 81 is honest compared to Mercure Shaw Parade KL. (Some reviewers on Expedia complain about mould in showers (also present at the Mercure) or stained carpet, maybe those people should try sleeping on the floor! Sorry my booking with Mercure still stings me when I think about it.

This hotel is infront of brothels, don’t stay here if you have families. Rooms stink like mildew, the hotel has a strong smell and I feel like they were trying to mask it by putting a lot of fragrance in the lobby, hallway and even the rooms. I asked to be moved but I was told they couldn’t because the hotel is full. The only thing they could offer me was an ioniser in my room. The room is a shoebox, it’s fine if you are staying for one night but I would not recommend it if you are staying longer and have breathing problems. I woke up the next day feeling ill, even though I had 7 more days to go I had to cancel my bookings and they didn’t even want to offer a refund. Management are terrible I had to contact Expedia and they never got any response. Do your research before staying here!

Room is very small but for me and a friend was enough we just sleep there and rest of the day we were out so we didn't mind small room. Room was clean and I have nothing to complain about. Receptionist are good they help you when you check in and you get a welcome letter :) Neighborhood is quiet even if they have some \"massage\" activities across the street.
