The room was modern and clean. But there was one major problem. The location of the toilet in the bathroom was ridiculous. The bathroom was small, as expected. But the toilet was in an area that was too small for someone with broad shoulders. I'm 6-foot-2, so my shoulders are wide. And I couldn’t sit straight on the toilet. I had to angle my shoulders. My hips barely fit between the shower glass and the wall. If you are a tall man, you may have issues with the bathroom.

The rest of the room was nice. The staff were great, friendly and courteous. The area is a little rough. And it's about a 15-min walk to the metro station. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to any of the major attractions. So not the best location. Although there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Overall it's a decent stay for the price. Singapore is quite expensive. If you're on a budget, it's not a bad option. But if you can afford it, I would say that the Chinatown area would a better choice.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room is exactly to be expected for the price - it is small, has aircon and a good shower (with decent pressure). Lots of places to eat in the area. It was an easy walk to the stadium where I was competing.

Nice stay if you are on a budget.

It was a good choice for the location and the amenities around the hotel. Lots of shops, restaurants, laundromats, bus services, bike sharing rental, and 10-15 minutes walk to the subway station.
Staff was friendly and immediately responded to my needs. The bedroom and bathroom were quite small and I could hear noises from the other rooms and hallway. Nothing too disruptive though, and the nights were quiet. The bed was comfortable with a good firm mattress which was perfect for me.

I understand they dont have restaurant but no plates or cutlery to eat. How r guests supposed to have meals that are been ordered and got delivered at the hotel.

Donot fall for the Name and book. The photos are misleading when booking.

We were kindly allowed to do late check out. Room is nicely designed and just enough for 2 people. The bed is also quite nice. But the area around the hotel doesn’t feel very safe to walk around at night and the hotel could do more extra cleaning in the rooms. It can also get quite noisy as walls are thin.

It was a fairly nice 2-star hotel. Because they admit they're a 2-star I'd like to give them a 5-star review, but I can't.. See, I understand things in Asia might happen to be slightly smaller in some instances because Asians tend to be (emphasis on tend to be, because I've seen some big Asians in my life!) somewhat smaller than Western people - especially us big Americans -- which I am admittedly large myself.. But that bathroom was SUPER tiny! I've been all around Asia, whether it be public restrooms or hotel restrooms or the like, and I've NEVER had such a tight squeeze using the can in my entire life! Again, this includes Asia!.. To think that the designer of that building was like, \"This'll work!\" is preposterous!.. Come on, guys.. Really, come on... Lol

This property is definitely budget friendly. The walls arent sound proof so sleeping in late was difficult. Even though I had a do not disturb sign on my door I didnt get the two bottles of water everyday. I needed a room change since the tub didnt have a liner on it or a door. Besides that the tub was old and parts were rusty. The tiles were dirty in the room. The outlet to charge your phone was very far. There was no problem changing the room. That was a plus for me. Would I stay there again no.

The location was OK. About 10-15 mins walk to MRT. Close to restaurants and shops. We would prefer a bit closer to the City, cleaner surrounding though.
We tried to contact the Hotel 81 via email on many occasions before flying to Singapore without any replies.
After settling into the Hotel, we found out that the bar fridge had no freezer, and asked the staff (evening shift, male staff) whether we could possibly use the staff fridge to freeze a small ice block that's used to keep our medication and eye drops cool on the road. His reply was unfriendly, a straight NO. Other staff are good and helpful.
Communication and attitude are important to customer service. It makes a big different to how people feel about their stay in the hotel and in Singapore.

Stayed at Hotel 81 Hollywood for 1 night after booking it for 4 nights originally. After checking in to the room, the room was small and bathroom was dirty with grime and mildew. No exhaust fan plus the humidity.

Our driver let us know the area was sleezy and we could tell the area was noticeably rundown. However local food areas were good. We were still charged 1 night and additional night penalty per their policy which sucks.

Avoid this Hotel 81 Premier Hollywood

I would recommend avoiding this hotel at all cost. We booked two rooms at this Hotel 81 Premier Hollywood for 4 nights but decided to check out after the first night. The room is small. The bathroom only has shampoo dispenser, towels and nothing else. The location is bad. It is in the red light district and a brothel is 3 houses away. The alley leads to the hotel is dark. My son and daughter who are adults literally told me to check out after their walk to buy some stuff at nearby 7-11. They don't feel safe at all. In addition, the internet is slow. Download speed is 1.1x Mbps. We stayed in the 5th floor and it is noisy all the time from conversation of other guests walking outside my room. It happened at mid night and even at 6am.

When we told the front desk our horrible experience and asked for early checkout, they charged us a penalty fee of one night. So we only got back 2 nights payment and also get charged an additional 6% credit card cost. That is their cancelation policy.

I did contact Hotels.com agent for this matter and ask for their support but they replied that they cannot help.

most of the staff reluctantly did what was asked. facility had issues with wi-fi and no staff wanted to come up and assist. the staff kept telling us to take main key out for 10 minutes which powered off the whole room. made do it twice since they claim i didn’t do it right. it turned it was their main server.

Hotel and room was clean and tidy. Climate control system is really slow to work and the bathroom whilst clean an functional is small. I could only just squeeze onto the toilet between the wall and the shower. Ideal for one, maybe two nights. Staff were polite. Area is a bit rough. There’s a quick time massage joint a few doors down so that says a lot for the area.

Stay away from this place, The staff will go out of their way to scam you.

We had booked 2 rooms, and both rooms maximum occupancy was listed as 3, so we could bring a total of 6. We had 5. 2 in one room, and 3 in another. As of April 05 2022 the rooms still show occupancy of 3 here on the Expedia website.

Unfortunately, when we arrived to check in, the staff are scammers and refused to honour the booking and attempted to extort us for a 3rd room, refusing to let us check in unless we paid for a third room.

This of course, was completely unacceptable and we refused to book a third room. they then refused to let us check in.

We ended up having service refused and went to another hotel, the Serangoon House, part of the Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain, where the experience was excellent.

So don't waste your time, and don't pay these scammers a dime, stay somewhere else. Avoid this place at all costs.

Cheap and cheerful. We stayed here for 1 night as we needed a base near the National Stadium to attend a concert. Close enough for a 10 minute walk to and from the venue. The area is vibrant without being too loud, as it appears to be in the middle of a residential area.

I booked this hotel under the instructions of a Singaporean immigration officer. After booking the hotel he said he couldn’t let me out because of visa issues where he said he would if I showed him the booking. Anyways, I called the hotel and explained the situation. The hotel was non-refundable but I didn’t even check in, and I called within 5-10 mins of booking. They said they would contact me regarding the refund. Its been 4 days and I’ve still heard nothing from them.

I'm a fellow hijabi & had booked this hotel for the convenience of going to National Stadium. Ngl,it was so cringy for me to go in & out of the entrance during my stay but it wasn't that bad at all.

We got home midnight after the concert and still feel safe. No suspicious activities and you can see fellow concert goer too. The hotel is literally behind the NS. Very close. But I must say, the room isn't soundproof. We can hear everything outside. The room is super small. The toilet is tiny. Of coz it's a 3star hotel so the standard of blanket and bedsheet is very questionable. But I don't mind.

So far so good. But will I book a budget hotel again? Maybe no.

The shower was really nice, with good pressure, and HOT the best shower I have had in Asia! The sheets and bed were very comfy and CLEAN, the hallway has a bit of echo but it got quiet in the late evening. The staff is friendly and kind. A good budget option will stay there again.

The downside os staying here is that rooms are not fully sound proofed. You can hear the footsteps and noice of the guests next door. Room is a little bit dusty.

Last time for those non-smoking rooms, I won’t smell any cigarette smell. But on this recent stay, I smelled cigarette smell coming from other non-smoking rooms. As it is an air conditional place, the smoke from other rooms could spread and stayed for quite long time. Difficult to breathe as I am a non-smoker. Then, I found out that most of the rooms now are those Malaysian workers that are on SHN. Hotel should advice the hotel guests on the rules and regulations of the hotel. If fail to do so will face penalties. Like this can maintain a peaceful and healthy environment for all the other hotel guests in this hotel.

According to the Taxi drivers, The hotel apparently was in a sketchy neighborhood. The room was extremely small. I couldn’t stretch my arms in the bathroom. Even with one person, was way too small to move around. I felt constrained. Staff were nice.

Needed to be a contortionist to be in the bathroom.Public transport not easy or close to get a tourist pass- train a 20 minute walk away, and then didn't sell them- so expensive and slow bus to get to a station that could sell them. Found out by accident just before we arrived this was in the red light district- not an issue, but lots of staring at us together. Close to some good restaurants. Staff helpful & friendly.

I read a few surprisingly negative reviews about Hotel 81’s locations, including Hollywood. Ignore them. I did not encounter a single issue similar to what others have said. The staff was great. The room was clean. The shower (pressure) was amazing! And after a full day exploring Singapore, trust me you’re going to love that shower! Overall great. I’ll stay here again.

The place is overall good. I just hate every month you can hear the office staff and the housekeepers becker in the hallways - they don't realize it amplifies in the hall thus waking me up. The housekeeper had her smartphone with the tv on and you can hear that too. Most annoying thing ever! I usually like to sleep in and have them do not disturb the sign but they still want to call me and ask me to clean the room and waking me up. The area is generally good - you have stores and restaurants a few minutes from walking.. This place does not have laundry service but the website says otherwise. Overall, the Staff is very nice and they know how to clean. Great for solo travelers and short term stays - as the bed is too stiff to sleep on

We stay 1 night over this hotel. The Reception service need to be improve, serve customer not friendly, never smile put long face. We request smoking room but they give us non smoking in the room. And
The refrigerator dirty, kettle cap spoil, but still can boil water, air conditioning can't adjust the temperature it auto.
some time cold sometime hot.
Pillow too soft, unable to sleep.
Check out time the lastest at 1pm as the reception told us last night. We felt they are chasing us away, by 11.30am they off the air conditioning. We left the place at 12.30pm
Price too high for 1 night stay. Not worth to stay.
We won't be back again
