They clean the room every day. Decent place overall. Room is very small, no cupboard nor bedside table, but there is big table. Double bed comfortable. Staff is nice and helpful. Bathroom has lot of mould on the ceiling that can be smelled in the room too if the air conditioner is not on, and there were some bugs in the bathroom but not in the bedroom. Hot shower water does not last long. Lucky they have separate tap for filtered water.

The hotel is a bit outdated and currently undergoing renovations, and I want to give a big thanks to Wilson and Hui Wen for making our stay so comfortable. While the area happens to be in the red-light district (something I only realized upon arrival), it really wasn’t an issue. The location is actually quite convenient—close to excellent restaurants and with easy access to the city. Once again, many thanks to Wilson.

Advertisements very misleading, it’s run-down, dirty and mold everywhere, this hotel would be shut down by western standards. Thankfully Expedia were very accommodating and helpful, issuing us a full credit. Hotel 81 Geylang worse than a hostel, Beware!

There is a reason why the price is low. The room is very run down and crying for renovations. Room is moist with mould. Room in need of pest control treatment with creepy crowlies when lights are off. Bath room hot water shower not lasting, door damaged by water and sink in need of replacement. Honest review.

The room could fit nothing more than the bed and the bottom of the walls looked extremely dirty all the way around the entire room. I did not feel comfortable even laying on the bed. The overall hotel looked very different from its counterpart Hotel 81 directly across the street.

As advertised but WIFI needs some improvement

Room was as advertised. 24 hr desk was helpful. Room was small but big enough. Plenty of dangerously hot hot water. Good bathroom. Window looked at a cinderblock wall. Only complaint was the WIFI. My Chinese knockoff barely got a signal but my iPhone did much better. Still had to stand in the door way to download Netflix to watch later though. WIFI in rooms can vary greatly from one end of the hallway to the other other.

My room type was different than original booking.
Property very old. Bed was very uncomfortable rand no hot water mention on their site. Worst stay experience in
Singapore. Country with pretty high standards at minimum. Don't book or stay here it is not worth it.
I was very disappointed about the whole stay. I called expedia and complaint not willing to compansate for the service.

my company extended my stay till Oct 5. and paid everything.

when i was about to check out the receptionist asked me to pay 1night overstayed. they dont allow me to checkout so i paid and told my HR on monday 07/10.
My HR told me that comoany fully paid till Oct5.
so my HR travel to the hotel to ask for reimbursement but the receptionist keep insisting 1 stay for 17night from 19 Sept - 05 and we pay only 16nights.

Your receptionist dont know how to count.
very troublesome for my company and your receptionist didn’t even apologies. He just give the money and took back the receipt.

Not worth staying here. Our room had a draft from the window that made the room freezing every night, it was uncomfortable and a terrible nights sleep. Also the hotel is on a small street and at night it is lined with prostitutes who are not shy. Not a big issue for 2 gay guys walking home but if you are a family or a strsight couple it is really not nice.

The room's mattress was so hard I could have slept on the floor and it would have been comparable. Upon checking out, I asked hotel manager when was the last time the mattresses were replaced. He looked at me confused. \"They're changed every day.\" No, I said. Mattress replacement; not changing sheets. \"I don't know. Over five years.\" I said it's time to replace and upgrade.

There are many \"Hotel 81\" all over Singapore. This suggests there's considerable money in this operation. By far, the most important thing a hotel provides is a comfortable night's sleep. Small room, tiny bathroom which also serves as the shower, red light district; all these are secondary. If sleeping on the floor is about the same experience as the room's mattress is, I don't need to pay for a hotel

Disgustingly horrible

The hotel is utterly disgusting, the room is dirty, old, tiny and windowless. On the narrow sidewalk adjoining the hotel, some people are selling contraband cigarettes at all times. Cars are always stopping to buy the cigarettes. So moving on the sidewalk and road, is tricky when the cigarette sale is going on. The hotel is surrounded by brothels which are quieter than the patrons of the hotel who are always yelling.

The reception staff were very help with internal travel directions as well as with help in booking travel out of Spore. Courteous and well mannnered. Room was leaking from the air conditioner and when I complained moved to a better room immmediately.
Hotel close to amenities and eating shops and such within walking distance. No complaints.

This was the worst hotel in the area that I have stayed in. The first room had a spring sticking through the mattress that left a long scratch on my leg...I requested a new room and was given another with a bed I could sleep on (no springs poking out, but still old, hard and uncomfortable)...but the room was worn and outdated and the A/C was very loud.

The staff tried to be helpful...but unfortunately, they do not have a lot to work with.

I usually stay at the Hotel 81 Star (which is much nicer and up to date) but it was fully booked.

This hotel is located in the middle of the Red Light District. The room was dirty and very small. From 9PM to midnight there was very loud yelling in the adjacent rooms and hallways. Would not recommend for families.

I had requested for early check in for my guests, checking in on 04th Aug 2016, one of the manager assured me that if rooms are available, then it will be provided free of cost. But to my shock even after availability of the rooms, I was forced to pay SGD 20 per room by another manager in the same Hotel. No lobby and space for the guests to sit in the Hotel. Very small and uncomfortable rooms.

My experience was very positive. The room was small, but adequate, specially for the price. The hotel is in the heart of the red light district, so perhaps not approriate for a family, but for me it was just fine and actually the location is very convenient . . . close to MRT station and many low priced restaurants that serve great food. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They printed a bunch of documnetents for me at no charge. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who is on a budget and wants to be in a conveneient location

a low cost room in s'pore mid way cityhall-airport

it is one of a chain of 81 hotels in singapore offering short time stately and overnight stay....most of the tines the rooms under offer are cubicle not even often with windows smocking free but the bathroom infected from cigarette smocking...the only improvement the past years is from no hangers at all to new this times sealed hangers....the location is lively at night not closing down by 21.30 pm...low costs meaning low everything else.....only for single adults whom need only a roof to sleep with wi-fi, few tv channels and a shower toilet room combined......

Good hotel. The staff are very friendly.

The room is being cleaned everyday and bottles of drinking water are being supplied free. The hotel staff are very very friendly and helpful. They speak English really well so there should be no communication barrier. Air-conditioning is good with an excellent Wifi reception. For its price, I would recommend it to everyone.

Stayed in a standard double on the fourth floor. Room was quite smoky but clean. It was also pleasantly quiet. Only problem is wifi is very slow. Can't complain because one gets what one pays for. Overall, good value for price.
